As promised, I'm back with the second installment of my funkyhousediscoshit.  Just like Boogie Nights, this set features a wide assortment of genres but this time they range from Deep House and Disco to Urban House, Tech House and good ole fashion Soulful House. We Love to Boogie starts off really cool and then begins to slowly heat up.  About two-thirds of the way in, all bets are off and I pretty much burn down the house.  Shortly after, I drop the temperature a few notches and keep up the pace from there. I closed the set with an unexpected gem by the Beatles.  I can honestly say that Taxman is one of my least favorite songs from the Fab Four's vast catalog and an unlikely candidate to get a 21st century EDM remix.  LA's Mot & Krid deliver a surprisingly fantastic production that would fit perfectly in an Austin Powers soundtrack (go-go boots, miniskirts and all).  While not particularly the typical "house" song I would include in my funky sets, it's just too much damn fun to leave on the cutting room floor. Some of you have sent emails about the site being down or not being able to download the podcasts.  Everything appears to be in working order at the moment.  As for the site issues, I've noticed many problems with Bluehost ever since I switched to them last year and am looking forward to going back to Siteground by the summer. The actual podcasts have been hosted over at House-Mixes, a fairly decent site that's a one-man operation, much like Party Favorz.  Considering the magnitude and complexity of putting together a site like that by a single individual, I have to say that Paul really does a great job.  Nevertheless, the frequent outages and lack of control over what I post is beginning to become a bit of a headache. With the recent passage of TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) I am predicting some major changes in the podcasting industry within a year or less, none of which looks promising much less fair.  In the next few weeks, I'll be looking at my options for hosting all the music myself, without having to rely on a third-party who will no doubt be heavily scrutinized (which they already are) by the music industry.  It's a shame, but with the explosion of streaming and the way we access our music/entertainment, the long-standing tradition of podcasting is likely going to get caught-up in the crossfire. Keep in mind, Party Favorz has always maintained a low profile and has a limited scope and while I don't mind picking up new followers (this past week about 20 more signed up), I'm not looking to expand into some big money-making venture nor profit off of other folks intellectual property.  I do this for the love of all things house music and enjoy sharing that love with folks (like yourselves) who appreciate my passion. I haven't determined the time and costs to get everything switched over but I'm at the point where I'm ready to dive in and take more control.  As a result, expect some delays in posting until I can get everything moved over.  How long that will take is unclear, so please be patient. We Love to Boogie starts off really cool and then begins to slowly heat up.  About two-thirds of the way in, all bets are off and I pretty much burn down the house.  Shortly after, I drop the temperature a few notches and keep up the pace from there. I closed the set with an unexpected gem by the Beatles.  I can honestly say that Taxman is one of my least favorite songs from the Fab Four's vast catalog and an unlikely candidate to get a 21st century EDM remix.  LA's Mot & Krid deliver a surprisingly fantastic production that would fit perfectly in an Austin Powers soundtrack (go-go boots, miniskirts and all).  While not particularly the typical "house" song I would include in my funky sets, it's just too much damn fun to leave on the cutting room floor. Some of you have sent emails about the site being down or not being able to download the podcasts.  Everything appears to be in working order at the moment.  As for the site issues, I've noticed many problems with Bluehost ever since I switched to them last year and am looking forward to going back to Siteground by the summer. The actual podcasts have been hosted over at House-Mixes, a fairly decent site that's a one-man operation, much like Party Favorz.  Considering the magnitude and complexity of putting together a site like that by a single individual, I have to say that Paul really does a great job.  Nevertheless, the frequent outages and lack of control over what I post is beginning to become a bit of a headache. With the recent passage of TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) I am predicting some major changes in the podcasting industry within a year or less, none of which looks promising much less fair.  In the next few weeks, I'll be looking at my options for hosting all the music myself, without having to rely on a third-party who will no doubt be heavily scrutinized (which they already are) by the music industry.  It's a shame, but with the explosion of streaming and the way we access our music/entertainment, the long-standing tradition of podcasting is likely going to get caught-up in the crossfire. Keep in mind, Party Favorz has always maintained a low profile and has a limited scope and while I don't mind picking up new followers (this past week about 20 more signed up), I'm not looking to expand into some big money-making venture nor profit off of other folks intellectual property.  I do this for the love of all things house music and enjoy sharing that lo...

The latest edition of Men featuring all male vocalists, has a mixture of new & (not too) old on it. The set kicks of with the uplifting Don Diablo mix of "Make Me Feel Better" by Alex Adair, then moves into 7th Heaven's killer mix of "Black Out The Sun" by Darren Hayes.British band Lawson have released some great tracks & here, Wideboys turn in a great mix of their track "Taking Over Me". Om dom brinnande ambassaderna och den muslimska vreden. Men är protesterna mer politisk opportunism än verklig islamisk ilska? Hör röster från Kairo, Sanaa, Tunis och Beirut om partiska poliser, konspirerande politiker å religiösa rökridåer - i ett post-revolutionärt Mellanöstern där maktkampen nu hårdnar. Den senaste veckan har nyheterna dominerats av bilder på stora protester mot filmen ”The Innocence of Muslims”.  Året är 2012, men på många sätt har diskussionen som följt dessa protester påmint om de som förekom för tio år sedan,  med inlägg från Ayan Hirshi Ali och otaliga referenser till Salman Rushdie och civilisationernas kamp. Men samtidigt har det funnits många tecken på att det pågått något mer, ett politiskt spel – färgat av den arabiska våren – bakom den ”muslimska vreden”, ”muslim rage”, som tidskriften Newsweek kallade det på förra veckans omslag . Vi börjar vårt sökande efter detta politiska spel i Tunisien, den arabiska vårens vagga. Konflikts Kajsa Boglind träffade i veckan Omezzine Khelifa, aktiv i det socialdemokratiska partiet Ettakatol och på tillfälligt besök i Sverige. Khelifa upplevde på nära håll protesterna mot Amerikanska ambassaden i Tunis den 14 september. Även i Jemen, längst ner på den arabiska halvön,  utbröt våldsamma protester när några hundra demonstranter lyckades storma USA:s ambassad i huvudstaden Sana'a. Fyra personer sköts till döds innan polisen till slut återtog kontrollen över byggnaden. Men vad var det egentligen som hände? Hur kunde en grupp på några hundra män - i och för sig beväpnade, men ändå en liten skara – ta sig in på en av världens mest välövervakade ambassader? För att få svar på det ringde Konflikts producent Lotten Collin upp Nasser Arabiyee, jemenitisk journalist i Sanaa. I Libanon var protesterna mot Muhammed-filmen nog dom största – men också som mest ordningsamma å mest tydligt knutna till ett större politiskt sammanhang. I veckan framträdde Hezbollas ledare Hassan Nasrallah för första gången på nästan ett år inför en gigantisk protestmarsch i Beirut. Han hade viktiga politiska poäng att plocka, men lika viktigt var att inte elda massorna alltför mycket, eftersom Libanon är en krutdurk. Det säger den politiske analytikerna Sami Atallah, chef för tankesmedjan Lebanese Center for Policy Studies i Beirut, när Konflikts Daniela Marquardt ringde honom tidigare i veckan. Samtidigt fortsätter debatten om yttrandefrihet, om islamisering, om kulturkrockar intensivt - inte minst i Egypten, arabvärldens kulturella centrum. Egypten är det land som folk både i och utanför Mellanöstern blickar mot för att förstå vilken väg regionen tar efter den arabiska våren. Därför var den islamistiske presidenten Mohammed Mursis vankelmodiga reaktioner på förra veckans protester något som följdes noga, både i Kairo och i världen över. Det rapporterar Sveriges Radios Mellanösternkorrespondent, Cecilia Uddén. Vi träffade även tre aktivister från Mellanöster – Mohammed al-Saud från Syrien, Afef Abrougui från Tunisien och Ahmad Nimer från Västbanken, som var här som en del av ett program organiserat av Svenska Institutet för att lära sig, av Sverige, om demokrati, medier och opinionsbildning. Men vi satte dom i en studio för att lära oss nåt av dem. Vi ville veta hur de upplevt den senaste veckans händelser – och kanske framförallt hur det rapporterats om här i väst. Mohammed al-Saud berättade att det som slagit honom mest var hur stora växlar man genast drog på protesterna här i Väst, med allt prat om Salman Rushdie och civilisationernas kamp.
