The jazz standard "All The Things You Are" has been performed countless times by master jazz vocalists, 30s big bands, bebop small groups, hard-bop combos, modern deconstructionists, and even soon-to-be Kings of Pop. On this episode, Kirk takes listeners through the history of the now-famous tune, from its humble Broadway origins all the way to his recording studio in Portland, where he and some friends recorded an all-new arrangement just for Strong Songs.Music/Lyrics: Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein IIVersions Featured:Broadway Original Cast Recording of "Very Warm for May," - 1939Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra, feat. Continuing/concluding wishing a Happy BIG 4-0 to the big releases of September 21st, 1984; we have come to the Oscar-winning PLACES IN THE HEART staring Sally Field, Danny Glover, and John Malkovich; as well as Lily Tomlin and Steve Martin - reuniting with his THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS director, Carl Rheiner - in the body-swap comedy ALL OF ME. Please remember to Rate, Like, and Subscribe; and we'll be back next week with a bonus episode looking back at the first (and arguably best) SEVEN (!!!) Steven Seagal films!
This week Ron and Peter celebrate the BIG 4-0's of two wildly different films, both released on September 21, 1984: The multiple-Oscar-winning AMADEUS, and Charles Bronson in THE EVIL THAT MEN DO, a film that strangely wasn't even nominated for any Oscars. We also discuss the recent releases BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE and TRAP. Next week, we're staying on September 21, as two other notable 1984 releases celebrate their BIG 4-0's: Sally Field, Danny Glover, and John Malkovich in the depression-era drama PLACES IN THE HEART, and Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin in the body-swap comedy, ALL OF ME. After the release of 2008's Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, Harrison Ford declared that he'd be happy to make Indiana Jones 5, as long as it didn't take another 20 years. It wasn't that far off before we got Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny. And in the interim, two of the three key creatives had changes roles. Steve Martin should have got Oscar recognition for 1984's All Of Me meanwhile, but even by that point, he had an idea for a fresh take on the classic Cyrano De Bergerac story. (9:00) What are Madi and Micah's favorite business or self-help books? (19:10) What is Micah and Madi's favorite piece of gear? (29:00) The focus of this episode is a discussion on how Madi and Micah invest in their personal growth, and how that growth translates to growth in their business as well. The conversation is driven by posts that Madi shared on Facebook over the last few months. Those posts are listed below, but make sure to listen to the full episode to hear a deeper dive into the backstory behind the posts (34:05). April 20"The past few years I knew where I was headed but instead of looking the part, pretending I was already there, I've been quietly doing the inner work to become the person I knew I could be from the inside out first." April 13"Not sure there is a human alive who holds more love, vision, and strength all wrapped up in one person. He's so freaking stubborn he won't do anything not aligned with deep purpose, trust me I've tried. He empowers himself, our family, anyone he meets to live their best life - like the amount of conversations he's had with people where they end up in tears, realizing they had their own answers all along He is sexy, athletic, smart, can learn and become anything he wants to, and he has the biggest shoulders imaginable to hold space for me and the kids." March 16"I used to be a break pad in all my relationships. A LOT of you women know what I mean. I'd change and morph myself to make sure everyone was happy and then share whatever was safe after I knew what they wanted. I did that in our marriage too. A few years ago Micah and I noticed our polarity/chemistry wasn't where we wanted. We had everything else… We were best friends, business partners, parents, amazing communicators, etc I even shared what I thought was all of me… Hint: it wasn't. In the last couple years I've started doing something I didn't know I was capable of and it's changed our chemistry so much I want to jump him all day long. I bring him ALL OF ME: my storm, my anger, my love, my excitement, my LIFE, all of it. And I do it with an OPEN heart, trusting that he can handle and hold me. Guess what? He can. And watching just how much he can might be the sexiest thing I've ever seen. I don't know who needs to hear this but the people you value most in your life deserve to be given the chance to show you just how much they can handle all of you (with an open heart) March 27"It's Monday and that means you get to create the week, life, business, family, mindset etc that you want to live in." May 4"If you don't love it, change it." Links: Madi and Micah's firs Bokeh Podcast episode: #277https://instagram.com/7seconds_mediahttps://7secondsmedia.us

Matt talks about popular reggae wedding songs to play on your wedding day. Important Links View the complete list of reggae wedding songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript Hello, today I am going to be talking about Raggae wedding songs. You know, most of us, when we think about Reggae music we think of Bob Marley, of course, being the legend of Reggae music. There is so much more that you can play than just Bob Marley. First and foremost, I just want to say that I am not a Reggae wedding music expert. I did rely on DJ Curtis from the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) and he offered me some tips on Reggae music to play. Now, I am not going to be covering all of the songs I mention on our website, I have a list of 100 songs on the site. I just want to give you an idea of what songs you can incorporate into your wedding day playlist. While you are on the website, make sure you sign up for our monthly newsletter of all the new wedding songs released in the previous month, plus what is trending. One good thing about our website is you can also listen to songs as well. As you know, I cannot play the music due to copyright laws (I don't want to get in trouble for that). Let's go ahead and get started with the first song I want to cover today. It is by a super-group called Stick Figure. For those of you who do know Reggae music, you know that Stick Figure should be on this list because they are a super-group in the genre. The first song was released in 2022 and is called “Way Of Life” was also with Slightly Stoopid. Lyrics include…I will carry you to the other side, To another place, to another life, I'll be there for you every day and night, Gonna bring you right back to the way of life. A pretty romantic song. So, another song that they released this year as well is called “Love Me Easy” with Stick Figure, ANORA, and Walshy Fire with the lyrics…You got the right kind of motion, I will give you devotion, Love me, love me, love me, easy. I think this is a great way to start this list of Reggae songs for your wedding. The next song on the list is Shenseea & Rvssian with “You're The One I Love”. Released in 2021, lyrics include…I'ma stay right by your side, Not a thing could change my mind, You are the one I love. The first song from 2020 is by Sean Paul. I do have a lot of Sean Paul songs on this list. This one is with Tove Lo and is called “Calling On Me” with the lyrics…Alright then, True love never fails, love never falls, Real love conquers all (Yeah). The second song, also from 2020, is “Smile” by WizKid feat. H.E.R. This really makes a great background song for cocktail hour or dinner. It just sets a love vibe with lyrics…I love your life, yeah, Love it when you smile, Say, I will do anything for my love, yeah yeah, I will do anything for my love. Next up is a cover of the Lee Brice song “Rumor” by Maoli with the lyrics…There's a rumor goin' 'round about me and you, Stirring up our little town, the last week or two, So tell me why you even tryna deny this feeling. One of my favorite groups in this genre is Michael Franti and Spearheads. This song features Cherine Tanya Anderson called “Say Hey I Love You”, released in 2018. Lyrics include…The more I see, the less I know, But I know one thing I love you (baby girl), I love you, I love you, I love you. Now, Rhianna is on a lot of Reggae song lists and the song I chose is “Pon De Replay”. This is a great dance tune and one that you should really incorporate into your party/dancing part of your wedding. This next song was actually recommended to me by a listener because he had it as his first dance song. The song is by Jah Cure and he did a cover of John Legend's song “All Of Me”. As you probably remember the lyrics include….You're my end and my beginning, Even when I lose, I'm winning, Cause I give you all of me, And you give me all of you. “Beautiful” by Seeed, released in 2014 with the lyrics…You saved my life...
If you like SDITE, I think you'll like Give Me Away. This audio drama imagines: what if there was such a thing as consensual body snatchers, aliens that cohabit in the minds of willing humans. What does sharing a body look like? It incorporates the clammy shared-body fascination of Venom with the gentle comedy of All Of Me against the backdrop of a relatable contemporary social and political setting. I adore the concept of this show, and it's made by the team behind Steal The Stars, another fantastic sci-fi podcast! You can listen to Give Me Away anywhere you listen to podcasts, and find transcripts at gideon-media.com. This is episode one: Is That Thing Screaming? The screaming spaceship lands just as Graham Shapiro's life is falling apart. The world reels, and Graham makes some big decisions. Featuring Hanna Cheek, Sean Williams, Kevin R. Free, Nat Cassidy, Diana Oh, Dani Martineck, Rebecca Comtois, Alba Ponce de León, Jorge Cordova, Lori Elizabeth Parquet, and Stephanie Willing. "All Of Me" based on Romans 12:1-8 by Dr. John Robbins
It's the chart stat that's still talked about among Stock Aitken Waterman fans — three firm fan favourites all peaked in the 20s on the UK chart in the same week. Was the SAW sound reaching saturation point or were there other reasons why all three artists, who'd reached the top 10 with their previous singles, faltered? And with songs that are widely regarded as some of SAW's best. In the case of Bananarama, "Love, Truth And Honesty" was a brand new track from their first best of, the mega-selling and widely promoted The Greatest Hits Collection, and their first completely new song recorded with Jacquie O'Sullivan. But was its more sophisticated sound too big a move away from the cheery pop of the Wow! singles? For Sinitta, "I Don't Believe In Miracles" was also a shift in direction. Gone was the playfulness of "Toy Boy" or "G.T.O." and in its place was a mature, tears on the dance floor concept. We hear from Sinitta about the track and why she didn't want to record it, and discuss the fact that it was her final SAW single. Meanwhile, Italian bombshell Sabrina came to work with SAW on "All Of Me", which was a natural successor to international breakthrough smash "Boys (Summertime Love)". But not even targetting the single especially for the UK market with a different video from the European release helped turn it into another top 10 smash.

In this newsletter, you will find all the new songs released from the prior month and also some great song ideas. Let's go ahead and get started with the popular songs of the 2010s. I have these grouped by genre starting off with Rock Songs. The first one is “Feel It Still” by Portugal The Man released in 2017, and “Handclap” by Fitz & The Tantrums in 2016. We all know the famous lyrics that get everybody to clap…”Cause you don't even know, I can make your hands clap. “Best Day Of My Life by American Authors, released in 2014. This is a great song that you could play as a recessional song, that is after the “I Do's”. Lyrics include…No, just don't wake me now. This is gonna be the best day of my life. Popular dance song, “Shut Up And Dance” by Walk The Moon in 2014. With the lyrics…Just keep your eyes on me. I said you're holding back, She said shut up and dance with me. Next up are R&B wedding songs from the 2010s with “Finesse” by Bruno Mars featuring Cardi B. “Can't Feel My Face” by The Weeknd, in 2015 with the lyrics…I can't feel my face when I'm with you. But I love it, but I love it. “Love On Top” by Beyonce in 2013 with the lyrics…You're the one I can always call. When I need to make everything stop. Finally, you put my love on top. This can be played throughout your wedding day, it is very popular. So is her other song “Drunk In Love” with her husband Jay Z, also released in 2013. Make sure you play those two songs if you are a big Beyonce fan. Her recently released Renaissance album also has some great dance tunes on it as well. “Suit And Tie” by Justin Timberlake featuring Jay Z, in 2013, is a great song for the garter toss if you want to have it, or just a tribute to all the men that are in the wedding or reception. Lyrics include…And as long as I've got my suit and tie, I'ma leave it all on the floor tonight. The controversial song, “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I. was released in 2013. If this is still really popular in your area it is a great dance tune. “All Of Me” by John Legend in 2013 is one of the greatest R&B love songs of all time. With the lyrics…You're my end and my beginnin'. Even when I lose, I'm winnin'. Another great love song, by Miguel, called “Adorn” in 2012, with the lyrics…Let my love adorn you, baby. Don't you ever Don't you let nobody tell you different. A great dance tune by Usher, featuring Pitbull, is “DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love”. It was released in 2010 with the lyrics…Gon' get you right, ‘Cause baby tonight, DJ got us fallin' in love again. Another one of his famous dance tunes is “OMG” featuring Will.I.Am in 2010. This closes out the R&B. Next up are the Dance tunes. Starting off with “Something Just Like This” by the Chainsmokers and Coldplay released in 2017. I really love this as a cocktail hour or dinner background song. One of the greatest entrance songs, into the reception, is “This Is What I Came For” by Calvin Harris featuring Rhianna released in 2016. Lyrics include…Baby,

Love means affirming everything I feel! Do not challenge, don't express any other opinion. Just love me for me ALL OF ME! What are your thoughts on those two sentences? Seems pretty crazy right. It's the penultimate reading episode! Things seem to be building up this week... Tessa gets Harry to spill some tea that is honestly very personal and she shouldn't have pushed; Carol Young stops by the apartment and it goes about as well as you'd expect it to; and Hessa gets ready to go to the wedding and sees a familiar, yet BUSTED face on the way. No breaks with these two! Whose cheeks? How many pumps over? Who's the guy from The Beatles that could never write "All Of Me"? Listen to find out! *ALSO! Just a heads up: The source of Harry's nightmares are in this episode, but we paraphrase and quickly and with as little detail as possible. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fanfictioninourtwenties/message

In this episode of The SpokenWeb Podcast, jamilah malika and Jessica Karuhanga sit down with producer Katherine McLeod to talk about the sounds and sound-based practices that have informed their projects as recipients of the 2020-2021 SpokenWeb Artist-Curator in Residence Award. For her residency, jamilah is building an online archive highlighting Black women sound artists across Canada to provide inspiration and representation for future sound art from Black femmes across Turtle Island. Jessica is creating “a sanctified Black space in the form of a website that celebrates aural, visual and somatic witnessing” through shared audio recordings of personal stories.jamilah and Jessica share two pieces of audio from past works that set the groundwork conceptually and methodologically for their current projects. As the producer of the series ShortCuts on The SpokenWeb Podcast feed, Katherine brings her approach of using an audio clip as the starting point for conversation. When talking with jamilah, they start by listening to the audio composition “Listen to Black Womxn” and, when talking with Jessica, they start by listening to the audio composition, “ALL OF ME.” In between these conversations, Katherine talks with SpokenWeb RA, poet, and spoken word artist Faith Paré about her work with jamilah and Jessica in listening to and searching through the SpokenWeb audio collections with their projects in mind. Questions of the archive and the archival impulse run throughout these conversations about the sound of sound art, archival recordings of voices speaking specifically as Black women and Black non-binary folks, the vocalic body in and as archive, and the agency of the listener. All of these questions start with talking, or, as jamilah says early on, “talking about talking.”SpokenWeb is a monthly podcast produced by the SpokenWeb team as part of distributing the audio collected from (and created using) Canadian Literary archival recordings found at universities across Canada.
