Here we are with the all male vocal edition of Men - Mardi Gras Men. I wanted to get this done before the actual main party weekend but I had so much going on, I had to push it back further in the month. This coming of age 20th edition of Men wastes no time in getting into it. The set kicks off with the awesome remix of "My Universe" by Coldplay from my good friend Rob of Division 4 and then swings into the funky sound of "Good Times". 7th Heaven feature three remixes here. The first is for Guy Sebastian's "Battle Scars". Guy is one of my all time favourite male vocalists. He won the first season of Australian Idol and he's voice is sublime. I've met him a couple of times through work and he is an absolute delight. If you're not familiar with his music (he writes all of his songs), then check him out. I've also met Adam Turner a few times in London and he is also a delight. He is the lead vocalist on the song "Amazing" featured here. He is also a music producer and his remixes are awesome. I've know Wayne G. for years and he is so much fun. He throws in two beautiful mixes for Bruno Mars and Darren Hayes respectively and then we're off into the big room sound. Robbie Carrigan is producing some amazing remixes (check out his Soundcloud page) and here he delivers a top notch mix of "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life - another Australian band from the 80's. Toy Armada & DJ GRIND deliver two anthems for Hardwell and R5 respectively and how could I not include any set without a couple of stand out mixes from DJ Mark De Lang of Dirty Disco. Here he works his magic on "I Feel Love" and "Stay". The set closes out with another beautiful 7th Heaven remix for boy band A1. The men absolutely rule in this pumping set. The podcast delves into the fascinating evolution of officiating uniforms in American football, particularly focusing on the historical transition from white shirts to the now-iconic black and white striped uniforms. Darren Hayes, the host, engages with Timothy Brown, a football historian, to explore how the visual identity of referees has changed over the decades. They discuss how, in the early 20th century, officials often wore white shirts, which sometimes caused confusion on the field as teams began to adopt white jerseys. This led to a pivotal moment in football history when Lloyd Olds, a professor and track coach, designed the first black and white striped shirt to help distinguish officials from players on the field, thereby enhancing clarity during the game. The conversation further uncovers how regional officiating associations developed their own standards and uniforms, illustrating a patchwork of styles across the country before the widespread adoption of the striped shirts. Timothy Brown provides insights into how these uniform changes not only reflect the game's evolution but also the professionalization of officiating as a career. The episode is rich with anecdotes, historical references, and illustrations that paint a vivid picture of how something as simple as a shirt can symbolize the growth and changes within the sport itself. As they explore these themes, listeners are invited to consider the deeper implications of officiating uniforms on perceptions of authority and professionalism in sports.Of course, this discussion stems from Tim's recent Tidbit: When Football Officials Wore White Shirts Join us at the Pigskin Dispatch website and the Sports Jersey Dispatch to see even more Positive football news!

Nigel's guest today is Darren Hayes. Darren became world famous as lead singer of the group Savage Garden. Between the group and his solo career Darren has sold over 30 million albums, achieved two US billboard number one singles and won countless awards. He was given the Order Of Australia, his home country, by the late Queen Elizabeth for services to the music industry. But behind the stratospheric fame Darren hid his true sexuality from himself and dealt with demons such as depression, a violent father and thoughts of suicide. His novel, Unlovable, which is out now, details his struggles and how he has journeyed to the place where he is today. This series is a celebration of a beautiful queer community; people of all ages, people who have had to tread their own path to live their real truth, who have fought with their emotions and emerged victorious, who inspire, who aspire and always entertain. Hosted by Nigel May. Every week, Nigel speaks to a person from the LGBTQ+ rainbow to hear their story; one person, one life, one conversation. The glitz, glamour and excitement on the outside is not always how a star feels on the inside. This week, Sarah Grynberg sits down with Darren Hayes, internationally renowned singer, songwriter, and former frontman of the iconic band Savage Garden. With a voice that has touched millions and lyrics that speak to the soul, Darren's music has left an indelible mark across the globe. But behind the spotlight lies a deeply personal story—one of struggles with identity, mental health, and the pressures of success. In this heartfelt conversation, Darren opens up about the unseen challenges he faced throughout his career, including his battle with depression and the difficulties of reconciling his public persona with his true self. Together, Sarah and Darren explore his path to self-acceptance, the emotional toll of fame, and the inner demons he confronted along the way. They also dive into his newly released memoir, Unlovable, a raw and intimate look at his life beyond the music. This discussion highlights the courage it takes to live authentically and the healing power of embracing one's truth. Darren's story will inspire you to reflect on your own journey, face your inner struggles, and find freedom in being unapologetically yourself. On today's podcast, I have the winner  of ‘The Masked Singer' ‘Dami Im,' who successfully beat out Conrad Sewell and Darren Hayes in that epic season finale of the popular "bonkers" singing competition on Network Ten. If you missed any of ‘Dami's' performance as ‘Snow Fox' you can go back and check them out on ‘Ten Play'. Honestly there are so many amazing classics that would make a fantastic album if 'Dami' was to put them all together. 'Dami' Im is an Australian singer and songwriter. She represented Australia at the 'Eurovision Song Contest' 2016 held in Stockholm, Sweden with the song "Sound of Silence", placing second and achieving the highest 'Eurovision Song Contest' score for Australia.  Dami also won ‘The Masked Singer' on the very stage she won 'X Factor' ten years ago and what an amazing full circle moment for her as an artist.  There is so much to unpack with 'Dami' today and I am excited to ask her so many questions: I will ask if 'Dami' used any tactic to hide her voice and if she knew who was behind the Bouncer and Grim Reaper masks?' 'Dami' will share some of her insights into how making music has changed over the last decade and what her journey has been like since leaving 'Sony Music.' We will find out which of the songs she sung will most likely be on a future album… not to mention some exciting details about a Christmas Album which is just about to drop. Plus we will get plenty of exclusives from behind the scenes of ‘The Masked.' Which returns next Monday night on ‘Network Ten' and if you have fallen behind you can catch up on - on ‘Ten Play.' See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
