There was no denying the popularity of rave and techno in the UK in 1991, and Stock and Waterman went all clubby as the year drew to a close — with help from some key collaborators. DJs Paul Taylor and Danny Bennett (aka Danny Hibrid) from Angels nightclub visited PWL to work with Tony King on remixing Kylie Minogue album track "I Guess I Like It Like That". The result: a completely new single, "Keep On Pumpin' It", which came out in its own right. Paul and Tony tell the story of this club classic, which was issued to clubs as a white label ahead of its commercial release. Meanwhile, the unlikely pairing of Malcolm McLaren and Alison Limerick were brought together to work with SW on "Magic's Back", the theme song to Malcolm's documentary, The Ghosts Of Oxford Street. Alison talks about the project and her own run of '90s club classics, like "Where Love Lives", "Make It On My Own" and "Time Of Our Lives". And, as we commence our journey into 1992, the third single from Let's Get To It was Kylie's remake of "Give Me Just A Little More Time", which was backed by rave-inspired B-side "Do You Dare". Once again the PCPS is holding a college-level course on an iconic movie from our youth: this time it's the 1987 feel-good, forbidden-love, hip-swivelin' classic Dirty Dancing. But as you'll hear in this episode, Dirty Dancing was so much more than a “dance movie.” In true PCPS fashion we're dissecting everything from the ironic chemistry of the co-stars to the very serious, critical issues the movie explores like classism and the controversial abortion storyline. We're also celebrating the soundtrack and giving love to all those indelible songs that take you right back to Kellermans! Lace up those Capezios and join us for this in-depth discussion of Dirty Dancing!
Daniel 5:1-7 // King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them. So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone. Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. 6 His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking. 7 The king summoned the enchanters, astrologers and diviners. Then he said to these wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.” Daniel 5:13-16 // So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? 14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom. 15 The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means, but they could not explain it. 16 Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.” Daniel 5:23-24 // Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. Daniel 5:25-26 // “This is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN. This is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.” Warnings from God: Don't forget that your days are numbered. Hebrews 9:27 // …people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. Daniel 5:27 // “Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.” Don't allow your life to get out of balance. Eat out 14,411 times (including 1,811 trips to McDonald's). Spend 13 years and 4 months watching TV. Spend 5 years waiting in lines. Spend 1 year looking for misplaced items. Attend 35 weddings. Drive 627,000 miles (25 times around the world). Ecclesiastes 4:6 // Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. Daniel 5:28 // “Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” Stop ignoring the warning signs. The risk of sinful choices increases My emotions are inconsistent I am less productive I can't hear God Daniel 5:29-31 // Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom. 30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, 31 and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two. Live with a sense of purpose and urgency Psalm 39:4-5 (NLT) // “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. 5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Put first things first. Matthew 6:33 // But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matt talks about his favorite party songs to get the party started and includes the last song to end the event. Important Links View the complete list of best party songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript Welcome to the 84th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. I am Matt Campbell and today I am going to have one of my favorite, and I know everyone else's favorite, topics. Best party songs. These may not be the best songs to get everyone out on the dance floor (although I am going to include those also), but these could also be background songs as well. And, also songs that are trending right now. If you prefer to read the list or listen to the list, you can do so on our website MyWeddingSongs.com. While you are there make sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter. In it, we tell you about all the new songs released in the prior month and also great trending songs and forgotten hits you can play on your wedding day. This episode is going to be a little bit different, I am not going to include song lyrics because I am just going to go thru the 200 songs just to categorize those by genre and a couple of events as well (I will get to that in just a second). So, speaking of starting off, I am going to start off with 37 songs I think could really get everyone out on the dance floor. They are party songs and ones that you want to make sure you at least have in your music library. The first one is “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, “Yeah” by Usher, “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, the great Disco song. “Fergalicious” by Fergie, “Get Low” by Lil Jon, and the East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. This one is exploding recently because it is in a car commercial. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris. This is a great song to really get the party started and get everybody excited. Next is “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas and “September” by Earth Wind and Fire. One of the great dance songs of all time. “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and the newer song, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo. “Shut Up And Dance” by WALK THE MOON. There are a few Michael Jackson songs we can have on the list, but it seems like “Billie Jean” is on everybody's playlist. “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins with the right crowd, and “C'Mon ‘N Ride It (The Train)” by Quad City DJ's, which came out in the '90s and will get everybody doing the train around the dance floor. Next is “The Humpty Dance” by Digital Underground who recently lost their lead singer. “Get Down On It” by Kool and The Gang and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, and “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks is the first Country song on the list, which is a sing-along song you can have on your list. “Timber” by Pitbull featuring Kesha, “No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash featuring Wale, “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars, and of course the “Cha-Cha Slide” by Mr. C if you want to have a group dance song, along with the next son “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex and “Hot In Herre” by Nelly. One of the great party songs, “Shots” by LMFAO, and the second Country song, “Fishin' In The Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Listen to the lyrics to make sure they are Wedding appropriate if you are going to play it at a wedding and your Wedding couple is OK with it. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, “Time Of Our Lives” by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo. Another group dance song , “Wobble” by V.I.C., “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and “Shout” by The Isley Brothers or by Otis Day. It is up to you which version you prefer. It is just a great group dance song you can have. “All The Small Things” by Blink-182. And finally, “Boogie Shoes” by KC And The Sunshine Band. So that is just to get things started off. Next up let us talk about 10 songs for slow dance songs starting off with “Tennessee Whiskey” ...
Did you know that you have 31,536,000 seconds of time for your personal use every year? That's a lot of time. How are you using it? Better yet, How WELL are you using your time? Ecclesiastes 3 is arguably the best known portion of the entire book of Ecclesiastes because of the way it opens - "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven." This weekend, we will attempt to unlock the Holy Spirit inspired riches of Ecclesiastes 3:1 - 15 by first remembering that Jesus christ is the Lord of our time. He has a great interest in both how we use it and how well we use it which is why, in his search for life's meaning, Solomon reflects on time. I look forward to a good time of worship and study with you this weekend at GCC.
Brittney and Andrew (aka "The Baddest B**ch of Them All") are finishing off their trio of 80s dance movies with the classic 1987 film, "Dirty Dancing." Just how dirty is this dancing? Does Brittney love Kelly Bishop? And why did we call Andrew "The Baddest B**ch of Them All" in this very episode description? You'll have to listen to find out!

Today's dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to the time you spend with your life. We're both guilty of idolizing material things at some point or another, but that's where we had it wrong because it's all about time. Time is your most precious possession. Unlike money, once time is spent, you can never get it back. What are you doing with your time? Make the most of the time you have on this earth and the way you do is by tapping into your purpose. What is your purpose? Your purpose lies within your passion. You must figure out what it is you love to do. It doesn't have to fit the mold of what others deem as “purposeful,” but it's whatever that makes you feel most alive. Don't worry yourself with trying to ask someone else what it is that you could be doing. That's something that you got to figure out. The time spent on figuring out your purpose is what we call life. So live! It's meant to be enjoyed. It's meant to make mistakes. Just be sure that it is spent doing what you love and most importantly with the people that you love the most. Just like in the hit song, “Time Of Our Lives,” Pitbull hit the nail on the head when he said “everyday above ground is a great day, remember that!” No go and have the time of your life! That's it for your dose of “Vitamin D” be sure to follow me on all social media @DawnDaiSpeaks and until next time, always remember, “You are your greatest asset!” Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Together with Americans Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Brynn Elliott over Zoom video! Atlantic Records/Big Yellow Dog Music recording artist Brynn Elliott has announced recently released her new single. “Tell Me I’m Pretty” is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Co-written with songwriter Michelle Buzz (Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue), the track is joined by an official music video filmed at a palatial estate on the Hudson River Palisades, directed by Los Angeles-based photographer, creative director, and director Lauren Dunn (The Weeknd, G-Eazy).“Tell Me I’m Pretty” heralds Elliott’s breathtaking new EP, CAN I BE REAL?, due to arrive later this year. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced in large part by songwriting/production duo The Monarch (Kelly Clarkson, Nicki Minaj), CAN I BE REAL? sees Elliott expanding on the thoughtful yet emotionally potent lyricism of her 2018 debut EP, TIME OF OUR LIVES, infusing her vibrant pop with undeniable warmth, charm, and a uniquely contemplative focus on identity, self-image, and finding one’s place in the world.TIME OF OUR LIVES proved a breakthrough debut for the Atlanta-born, Los Angeles-based Elliott upon its 2018 release, highlighted by the top 15 Hot AC single, “Might Not Like Me,” The track – which has earned over 43 million global streams thus far – is joined by an equally popular official video, directed by Sarah McColgan (Kelly Clarkson, Charli XCX) and now boasting close to 4 million YouTube views.TIME OF OUR LIVES features a series of distinctive pop songs fueled in large part by Elliott’s studies at Harvard University. Each of the five songs on the EP was inspired by a different philosopher or set of ideas, with “Time of Our Lives“ drawing on Heidegger and existentialism and “Might Not Like Me” absorbing feminist critiques of Descartes into a buoyant and empowering pop anthem. In addition to studying philosophy as song inspiration, Elliott spent most of her weekends and summers on the road, playing over 200 shows both on her own and as special guest to such artists as Brandi Carlile, Grace Potter, and Alanis Morissette. We want to hear from you! The southwest Michigan mom of two young kids, ages 5 and 3, made some 700 masks in just a few short weeks with the help of a small group of volunteers. Janelle, who shares her sewing creations — including memory quilts and t-shirt blankets, some of which feature race t-shirts, and — on her Facebook business page MI Sew Haven, joins Heather on the podcast to talk about life as a long-time athlete, runner, seamstress (she makes her own running attire), and now-homeschooling mom. One way she’s making the most of these interesting times? Dressing up every day — she wore a super-cute leopard print jumpsuit, which she made of course, when this episode was recorded — and doing fun things like blasting great music and hosting fancy, dress-up dinner evenings for her family. “I’m a firm believer in what you wear directly affects how you feel. It just makes me feel good to dress up … We do little themes here and there.” Janelle, who lives with her husband and their son and daughter in Paw Paw, Mich., credits attending the MRG Winter Weekend Getaway at the start of 2020 — right before life turned upside down for all of us — with helping her believe she could be a year-round outdoor runner. She shares how this winter she is planning to run outside all season long for the first time. She also talks about what the pandemic has taught her, how she’s stayed sane and found a few new hobbies, and how she became a runner following high school and college experiences rowing on a crew team on the Detroit River and trying out the sport of fencing. “This has been a really good learning experience, and I hope other people are realizing this, too, that this can be a good time of our lives.” FIND JANELLE: @jnl.dsgn on Instagram FIND JANELLE’S SEWING BUSINESS Mi Sew Haven on Facebook FIND HEATHER: @michiganrunnergirl on Instagram @michigan-runner-girl on Facebook If you enjoy what you’re hearing on the Michigan Runner Girl show, we’d be so, so grateful if you’d take a few moments to write a review on iTunes. How do we live a life worth living? And what happens when it ends? They're big questions: the kind often tackled by religion, philosophy and literature. In his latest book, The Time Of Our Lives, Robert Dessaix explores his own experience of life, aging, and his unending curiosity about the world.
