All the info is over at diabetes-connetionss.com events/ Okay.. our top story this week: XX Gotta be a quick shout out to some incredible T1D athletes – we had TWO in the super bowl this past weekend – Chad Muma of the New England Patriots and Logan Brown of the Seattle Seahawks AND there are at least two athletes with type 1 competing at the Winter Olympics. Hannah Schmidt competes in ski cross for Canada – she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 12 years old. Anna FarnSchadt Fernstäd a Czech skeleton racer diagnosed in 2022 after she'd already been to several Olympics. We wish them all the best! https://english.radio.cz/skeleton-racer-anna-fernstadtova-overcoming-adversity-headfirst-down-ice-8876699 XX The government website TrumpRx.gov is live.. the website does not sell prescription drugs. Instead, it allows people to look up their drugs and then navigate to buy them elsewhere, either from a major drug company or a pharmacy. The 43 drugs listed on the site have prices ranging from $3 to over $5,500. TrumpRx does include warnings that the site may not be the best option to save money on prescriptions. Each product page advises: "If you have insurance, check your co-pay first — it may be even lower." For now, the website says its prices are for people paying with their own money, rather than going through insurance. The only insulin listed right now is Lilly's insulin lispro – and it's the same price as you'd find through Illy's insulin value program. I looked up diabetes meds.. For example, if you have an insurance co-pay of $25 a month for Farxiga, a drug often used for diabetes, you would be paying $182 on TrumpRx. As you can imagine, though ,this is complicated and as with most of our healthcare system, it may be good in some cases and not much help in other. I'd suggest calling your local pharmacist or checking with your human resource dept. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/06/health/trumprx-prescription-drug-prices-consumers.html XX Novo Nordisk will launch some doses of its oral semaglutide for diabetes under the brand name Ozempic pill in the second quarter of this year. The company said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Ozempic tablets in three different doses. Novo says The new Ozempic name is intended to help patients and health care professionals more easily recognize the available treatment options for type 2 diabetes Semaglutide tablets have been available under the brand name Rybelsus Ruh BELL sis for diabetes since 2019 but with different dosing. The pill is also approved to reduce the risk of certain cardiovascular conditions in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk for these events. The FDA had approved the new doses based on a bioequivalence study and the clinical trial data for Rybelsus, Novo said. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/novo-launch-ozempic-pill-diabetes-second-quarter-this-year-2026-02-04/ XX https://www.contemporarypediatrics.com/view/early-screening-for-type-1-diabetes-found-effective-in-children XX Possible new way to identify and track the progress of type 1 diabetes before clinical onset. A recent study published in Science Advances described the application of subcutaneous microporous scaffolds. These are inserted and have been shown to identify changes in cancer, multiple sclerosis, and T1D by capturing changes of immune cells over the course of a disease. This is a proof of concept study in mice.. so very early days. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20260204/Implantable-immune-scaffold-predicts-type-1-diabetes-weeks-before-symptoms.aspx XX A large global genetics study shows that many key drivers of Type 2 diabetes operate outside the bloodstream. In a major international project led in part by the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Helmholtz Munich in Germany, researchers linked hundreds of genes and proteins to the disease. The work, published in Nature Metabolism, points to a key challenge in diabetes research: the biology behind rising blood sugar does not play out the same way in every part of the body. It also shows why including people from many backgrounds matters, since genetic clues that stand out in one population may be faint or invisible in another. Huge study, 2.5 million people worldwide comparing patterns across seven tissues tied to diabetes and four global ancestry groups, then asked a simple question: what do you miss if you only measure blood? Across the seven tissues, the researchers found causal evidence pointing to 676 genes. Yet overlap with blood was limited: only 18% of genes with a causal effect in a primary diabetes tissue, such as the pancreas, showed a matching signal in blood. At the same time, 85% of genetic effects observed in diabetes-relevant tissues were completely absent from blood-based analyses. The findings lay out a roadmap for future research aimed at understanding the biological pathways underlying Type 2 diabetes and developing more effective treatments. https://scitechdaily.com/massive-global-study-rewrites-the-biology-of-type-2-diabetes/ XX Express Scripts settled the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's claims its insulin pricing practices violated antitrust and consumer protection laws, and agreed to changes aimed at lowering costs for patients, insurers and small pharmacies The settlement, first reported by Reuters, fits with that goal, and allows the FTC to pare down a case brought by the former Biden administration against Cigna's Express Scripts, UnitedHealth Group Inc's (UNH.N), Optum unit and CVS Health Corp's (CVS.N), CVS Caremark. The case against Optum and Caremark is ongoing. Pharmacy benefit managers, which set how drugs are covered by health insurance, have faced a decade of scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers over pricing practices. While the industry has already made reforms, the settlement gives the FTC power to enforce broader changes at Express Scripts. The 10-year agreement restricts Express Scripts' ability to engage in practices critics say contribute to high costs, like pocketing rebate payments from drugmakers based on the list price of drugs. The FTC estimates the agreement could save patients as much as $7 billion over a decade. https://www.reuters.com/world/cigna-settles-ftc-insulin-case-commits-overhauling-drug-pricing-2026-02-04/ XX Audio? Congress has passed bipartisan legislation to extend and strengthen the Special Diabetes Program (SDP), a cornerstone of Federal investment in type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The President signed the legislation and it is now law. Extends the SDP through December 31, 2026, and increases funding from $160 million to $200 million annually. Strengthens overall funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by $415 million. Increases diabetes research funding at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) by $10 million. Created by Congress and administered by the NIH, the SDP has contributed nearly $3.6 billion to T1D research and has played a role in nearly every major breakthrough in the field. A recent study conducted by Avalere Health shows that of the nearly 3.6 billion invested into the SDP by Congress since the establishment of the program, the Federal Government has realized $50 billion in healthcare savings through improved health outcomes from the use of SDP driven therapies and devices https://www.breakthrought1d.org/news-and-updates/congress-passes-bipartisan-extension-of-the-special-diabetes-program-securing-critical-t1d-research-funding/ XX Dexcom is rolling out what they're calling AI-enabled enhancements to Stelo, further transforming how users track and understand their glucose health. Expanded Smart Food Logging including a comprehensive nutrition database of more than 1M meals that provides a breakdown of calories, carbohydrates, protein, fat, dietary fibers, and more. More ways to meal track including text search, barcode scanning or taking a photo of the meal, creating a seamless and intuitive meal tracking solution. A redesigned Daily Insights feature which will introduce a new interface with more personalized recommendations. The newest features will launch nationwide in the coming weeks. XX Beta Bionics has received a warning letter from the Food and Drug Administration following an inspection last year, the company disclosed on Friday. The diabetes technology company said in a securities filing that the warning letter concerns non-conformities with the company's quality management system, medical device reporting, and correction and removals. The warning letter has not yet been posted by the FDA. The company said in the filing that it has already taken actions to improve the processes described in the warning letter, and it is working on a written response to the FDA. The firm does not expect the warning letter to affect the planned launch of a new insulin patch pump by the end of 2027. Beta Bionics unveiled a prototype of the device, called Mint, last year at the American Diabetes Association's Scientific Sessions. The company also does not expect the warning letter to affect its financial results. https://www.medtechdive.com/news/beta-bionics-receives-fda-warning-letter/811140/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Issue%3A+2026-02-04+MedTech+Dive+%5Bissue%3A81423%5D&utm_term=MedTech+Dive&fbclid=IwY2xjawPwhDZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFaUUcyYmNQWldjZ2xudElic3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHouF8M3IstTyslPRgeHWUWVVdOAGOtzPWt_yNFcj9eYruqSPz3e86Iwcbpt8_aem_7q4D97vJVjHKfEwvoyUpgw XX Sequel Med Tech is reviewing co-founder Dean Kamen's ties to Jeffrey Epstein after recently released documents revealed new details about the longstanding relationship between the two men. The documents show that Kamen visited Epstein's island, and remained in contact with him for years after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes involving minors. Kamen has not been accused of any wrongdoing. In a statement, Sequel Med Tech said the Manchester-based company is aware of the documents pertaining to Kamen and – quote - "Sequel's Board of Directors has unanimously decided to engage an external law firm to review these disclosures and provide recommendations aligned with our mission to serve people living with diabetes," Kamen has not issued a statement regarding his reported connection to Epstein. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/04/metro/nh-dean-kamen-jeffrey-epstein-review/ https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/04/metro/nh-dean-kamen-jeffrey-epstein-review/ https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/nh-inventor-placed-on-leave-after-epstein-messages-surface-report-says/3888569/ XX Abbot reports 860 serious injuries linked to the recall of some of its glucose monitoring sensors. We told you about this recall late last year, these numbers are an FDA update. Abbott said the sensors can provide incorrect glucose readings over extended periods, which could lead to users making dangerous treatment decisions, including eating excessive carbohydrates along with skipping or delaying insulin doses, potentially leading to serious health risks. The company said it has identified and resolved the cause of the issue, which relates to one production line among several that make Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/abbott-recalls-glucose-sensors-after-seven-deaths-linked-faulty-readings-2026-02-04/ XX Updates from Medtronic & Senseonics – and a first from Nick Jonas.. right after this.. I'm excited to share that the FDA has cleared the MiniMed 780G system with the Instinct sensor, made by Abbott, for people with type 2 diabetes. Medicare has also now approved coverage for the Instinct sensor for use with the MiniMed 780G system. This clearance and expanded coverage mean more people will have access to pairing our most advanced automated insulin delivery technology with the Instinct sensor, that offers a smaller, 15-day sensor experience. They're also launching the MiniMed 780G system Pump Evaluation Program. This program gives individuals living with diabetes the ability to try the full MiniMed 780G system at no cost for 30 days.† This includes the pump, the sensor of their choice, one month of infusion sets and reservoirs, everything but the insulin. They'll contact your doctor for you to get a prescription and get the process rolling. https://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/pump-evaluation-program XX Senseonics announced today that its Eversense 365 continuous glucose monitor (CGM) system received CE mark approval – that's European clearance. This comes on the heels of the launch of Eversense 365 with Sequel Med Tech's twiist pump, marking the first pump integration for the CGM. Senseonics plans to launch Eversense 365 in Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden in the coming months. Meanwhile, Senseonics continues to work toward an FDA investigational device exemption (IDE) submission for its next-generation Gemini transmitter-less CGM by the end of this year. https://www.drugdeliverybusiness.com/senseonics-ce-mark-eversense-365-cgm/ XX A huge shout out to Dr. Emily Blum, who just accomplished riding 100 miles in Antarctica for Breakthrough T1D! Despite having no direct connection to Type 1 Diabetes, Emily has been riding and fundraising for BreakthroughT1D for 10 years now. She is an integral part of the Georgia Ride team, training and riding many miles, and most importantly has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the cause of ridding the world of T1D. She is surgeon and deeply involved with medical innovation, with an incredibly busy schedule, but jumped at the chance to take on the challenge of riding a century on every continent. Having already completed North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and now Antarctica, only Africa and South America remain. Emily rides on and continues to be an inspiration to everyone who meets her. XX https://diabetes-connections.com/t1d-connection-and-people-magazine-elise-zach-share-their-story/ XX Nick Jonas's becomes the first artist ever to wear a CGM on an album cover - new upcoming solo album Sunday Best, releasing Feb. 6. The release says: This marks a powerful step forward in normalizing diabetes and raising awareness for the condition on a global scale. This moment adds to the growing visibility of diabetes in pop culture, alongside milestones like a Type 1 diabetes Barbie and Pixar characters wearing diabetes technology.
This month's edition of UP! has a front end full of funky, house pop tracks and transitions into a back end full of driving dance floor stompers. Kicking off the set is the awesome Nick Jay & Jean Luc remix of Katie Underwood's "Danger". The amazing Division 4 features three remixes here for Sabrina Carpenter, Sombr and SZA respectively. He has his own website (Division 4 Music : Div-4.com) where you can download quite a few of his mixes at really good prices. I highly recommend you check it out and also give him some support. Speaking of support, the incredibly generous Russ Rich and Andy Allder gave me an advance copy of their remix of Raye's "Where Is My Husband" and it is flat out amazing. The baseline, percussion and integration of the lyrics is masterful and I cannot thank them enough for this lovely sneak peak. Dario Xavier also features two mixes for Nick Jonas and also Taylor Swift. Sagi Kariv delivers a thumping mix of Charlie XCX's "Hello Goodbye" and the always on point Dirty Disco delivers a classic remix for Tata Vega and a punchy remix for Katseye. Closing out the set is the new track from Agnes given the big room treatment from Henriq Moraes. The Sydney Mardi Gras festival fires up in mid February and runs through to the first weekend of March which means Mardi Gras anthems will be out very soon. I would also like to dedicate this month's edition of UP! to my good friend Mark who just celebrated an 'event' birthday.

What happens when success arrives before you truly know who you are. How do you learn to quiet the inner critic while becoming a better partner, parent, and person in the process? Today, Jay sits down with Nick Jonas for an intimate conversation about identity, purpose, and the inner work that comes with growing up in the spotlight. Nick opens up about what it was really like starting his career so young, dealing with rejection early on and growing up with the pressure of being labeled “the shy, creative one.” As the conversation unfolds, Nick shares how fatherhood, marriage, and health challenges have profoundly redefined his priorities. He reflects on the vulnerability of becoming a parent, the anxiety that comes with loving someone so deeply, and the grounding practices, movement, routine, and therapy that help him stay present. Through stories of his daughter’s early days, his evolving relationship with faith, and the inspiration behind his new music, Nick reveals how creativity became both a refuge and a mirror, allowing him to heal, grow, and speak more honestly than ever before. Jay and Nick discuss what it truly means to be a good partner, a present parent, and a kinder version of yourself, especially when life feels overwhelming. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Turn Life’s Hardest Seasons Into Creative Fuel How to Stay Grounded When You’ve Lived Life in the Spotlight How to Be a Present Partner Instead of a Defensive One How to Navigate Anxiety Without Letting It Define You How to Reconnect With the Fearless Version of Yourself How to Build Emotional Resilience Through Routine and Movement How to Show Up as a Better Parent by Healing Yourself First Wherever you are in your journey, know that it’s okay to slow down, ask better questions, and choose compassion over criticism. I'm Stacey Simms and every other Friday I bring you a short episode with the top diabetes stories and headlines happening now. Our top story this week: XX Certain glucose monitors from Abbott Diabetes Care are providing users with incorrect glucose readings, an error that has been linked with the deaths of at least seven people and more than 700 serious injuries worldwide, according to an alert from the US Food and Drug Administration. Incorrect glucose readings can lead to improper treatment. Abbott warned that about 3 million FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensors are affected, but no other Libre products. Patients can visit FreeStyleCheck.com to see if their sensors are affected and to get a replacement for free. The FDA has also published specific information about the affected products in its alert. The agency considers this to be a "potentially high-risk issue" and will continue to update its website as information becomes available. "Patients should verify if their sensors are impacted and immediately discontinue use and dispose of the affected sensor(s)," the FDA said. https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/02/health/abbott-diabetes-glucose-monitors https://www.freestylecheck.com/us-en/home.html XX Omnipod 5 is getting some enhancements.. and Omnipod 6 is announced. The FDA cleared updates including a lower, 100 mg/dL target glucose option and what they call a more seamless automated experience. "This is the most significant algorithm advancement to our Omnipod 5 System since its launch in 2022," said Eric Benjamin, Insulet EVP and COO. Insulet said the new 100 mg/dL target glucose expands Omnipod 5's customization range. It now features six settings between 100 mg/dL and 150 mg/dL in 10 mg/dL increments. The company said this flexibility allows healthcare providers to tailor insulin delivery more precisely. It supports individuals seeking tighter glucose management or aiming to meet specific glucose goals. Omnipod 5's latest upgrades also help users stay in "Automated Mode" with fewer interruptions, even during prolonged high glucose events. Insulet plans to launch the updates to the algorithm in the first half of 2026. The company announced plans for an Omnipod 6 – without a lot of detail - at the company's Investor Day event in November. They also talked about a new, fully closed-loop pump for the type 2 diabetes population. https://www.drugdeliverybusiness.com/insulet-fda-clearance-omnipod-5-algorithm-enhancements/ XX Dexcom, the global leader in glucose biosensing, announced today that the Dexcom G7 15 Day Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System will launch in the United States on Dec. 1, making it the longest-lasting CGM system with 15.5 days of wear. Dexcom G7 15 Day will first be available through durable medical equipment (DME) providers on Dec. 1 with full retail launch in the coming weeks. Dexcom G7 15 Day will also be covered for Medicare beneficiaries. Dexcom G7 15 Day's industry-leading wear-time will provide fewer sensor changes, less disruption and more time for people with diabetes to benefit from life-changing CGM technology. New with Dexcom G7 15 Day: Longest lasting CGM system with 15.5 days of wear. Best-in-class accuracy1 with an overall MARD of 8.0%. Easier glucose management with fewer monthly sensor changes and reduced monthly waste. This follows yesterday's announcement – the FDA has cleared Dexcom Smart Basal, the first and only CGM-integrated basal insulin dosing optimizer designed for adults 18 and older with Type 2 diabetes using long-acting insulin. Dexcom Smart Basal will use Dexcom G7 15 Day sensor data and logged doses to calculate personalized daily recommendations to guide users towards a more effective long-acting insulin dose, as directed by their healthcare provider. At launch, Dexcom G7 15 Day will connect with the iLet Bionic Pancreas and Omnipod® 5§§. We are working closely with Tandem and look forward to extending the launch to their customers shortly as they finalize integration. For specific information on pump compatibility and availability with the Dexcom G7 15 Day system, visit Dexcom.com/connectedpumps https://investors.dexcom.com/news/news-details/2025/Dexcom-G7-15-Day-Continuous-Glucose-Monitoring-System-to-Launch-on-Dec--1-in-the-United-States/default.aspx XX A small study of ten adults with type 1 diabetes tested Tandem's new fully closed-loop "Freedom" insulin system — and the participants put it through a real-world stress test. For 72 hours in a hotel setting, they ate heavy carb-and-fat meals, skipped all meal announcements, and didn't give any mealtime insulin boluses. The system handled almost everything automatically. Researchers said the device stayed in closed-loop mode 97% of the time and there were no incidents of diabetic ketoacidosis or severe hypoglycemia reported. While using the Freedom system, participants spent a median 61% of the day in the glucose target range — slightly higher than the 56% achieved with their usual pump at home. But the biggest improvement came overnight: time in range jumped to 96% with the closed-loop system compared to just under 70% during their home-pump week. With almost zero time spent below 70 mg/dL, researchers concluded that the fully automated Tandem system was both safe and effective even with unannounced, high-impact meals — hinting at a future of diabetes management that demands less effort from users. XX Novo Nordisk reported promising mid-stage results for its experimental drug amycretin (AM-ee-creht-in) in diabetes patients on Tuesday. Amycretin, targets both GLP-1 and amylin hormones. In this study, it helped patients with type 2 diabetes lose up to 14.5% of their body weight over 36 weeks with weekly injections, far outperforming a placebo. The oral version delivered weight loss of up to 10.1%. Rival Eli Lilly is surging ahead with its own amylin-based drug, eloralintide, which is advancing to late-stage testing after helping patients shed as much as 20% of their weight in a mid-stage trial. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/25/novos-next-gen-obesity-drug-shows-positive-results-heads-to-late-stage-testing.html XX The U.S. Medicare health plan said on Tuesday that newly negotiated prices for 15 of its costliest drugs will save 36% on those medications compared with recent annual spending, or about $8.5 billion in net covered prescription costs. The prices go into effect in 2027, including a monthly price of $274 for Novo Nordisk's popular GLP-1 drug semaglutide, sold as Wegovy for weight loss and Ozempic for diabetes. medicare's recent net price for Ozempic, opens new tab was $428 a month, according to an analysis published in the Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy. Medicare put the drug's list price, before confidential rebates and discounts, at $959 a month. Based on such nondiscounted list prices, Medicare said savings on the 15 drugs ranged from 38% to 85%. The annual price negotiations were established under President Joe Biden's signature Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022. Previously, Medicare was barred by law from negotiating with drugmakers. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/us-negotiated-medicare-prices-15-more-drugs-test-cost-savings-promise-2025-11-25/ XX LifeScan announced its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan received U.S. Bankruptcy Court approval. LifeScan said it's positioned to emerge from its financial restructuring process by the end of the year. The CEO says, "This balance sheet restructuring provides a stronger foundation for LifeScan to support our base business, advance new growth strategies, and commence our journey to become one of the most comprehensive players in the glucose management space." https://www.drugdeliverybusiness.com/glucose-monitor-lifescan-emerge-from-bankruptcy/ XX An artificial intelligence (AI)-led Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) was as effective as a traditional human-led program in achieving recommended goals for weight loss, A1c reduction, and physical activity, according to a randomized trial of adults with prediabetes and overweight or obesity. One example of a push notification: "Looks like you're at the grocery store, Rita! Want a quick list of high-fiber snacks or smart swaps to stay on track this week?" The app also provided location- and goal-based education, with gamification elements to promote engagement. Approximately one third of participants in both the AI and human-led groups achieved the primary outcome (31.7% and 31.9%, respectively). Results were consistent across sensitivity analyses and individual components of the composite endpoint. "As more AI-based programs emerge, head-to-head comparisons among different AI-DPPs will be informative. An AI-led approach will not suit everyone; some individuals benefit more from human interaction and accountability," said Mathioudakis, adding that future research should focus on best matching patients to the modalities they prefer. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/ai-directed-diabetes-prevention-program-effective-human-2025a1000xam XX A new study suggets metformin could help people with type 1, reducing the need for insulin. The researchers were surprised to find that metformin did not improve insulin resistance or change blood sugar levels. This suggests that, unlike in type 2 diabetes, metformin doesn't combat insulin resistance in type 1 diabetes. However, metformin did reduce the amount of insulin people needed to keep their blood sugar levels stable. https://www.the-express.com/news/health/192157/diabetes-medicine-insulin-type-1 XX Beyond Type 1 launches #TheBeyondType campaign in India to combat type 1 diabetes stigma. Nick Jonas is one of the founders of Beyond Type 1, his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is his partner in this new non profit. The initiative highlights inspiring individuals living with T1D and partners with local organisations to improve awareness, medical support, and community networks for affected families across the nation. India has more young people living with T1D than any other nation, yet understanding of the condition remains limited. Beyond Type 1 is partnering with grassroots organisations across high-need regions. These include HRIDAY in Delhi–NCR, Nityaasha Foundation in Pune, Gram Jyoti in Jharkhand, and SAMATVAM Trust in Bangalore—each group focusing on improving awareness, providing medical support and building stronger community networks for young people with T1D.

Alonso and Jacks are joining us to jump into a Disney+ holiday movie! Today, we're chatting about A Very Jonas Christmas Movie. Let's road trip!ABOUT A VERY JONAS CHRISTMAS MOVIEThree famous brothers race against time and face mounting challenges during a chaotic journey from London to New York, desperate to make it home in time for Christmas.AIR DATE & PLATFORM FOR A VERY JONAS CHRISTMAS MOVIENovember 14, 2025 | Disney+ & HuluCAST & CREW OF A VERY JONAS CHRISTMAS MOVIEKevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas as themselvesChloe Bennet as LucyBillie Lourd as CassidyLaverne Cox as StacyKJ Apa as GeneAndrew Barth Feldman as EthanJesse Tyler Ferguson as Santa ClausBRAN'S A VERY JONAS CHRISTMAS MOVIE SYNOPSISThe movie kicks off with It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams — which is how you instantly know this is a Disney movie and not a Hallmark movie. Suddenly, Will Ferrell is there with his family. Apparently, they flew all the way to London to see the Jonas Brothers. Tonight is Will Ferrell's Super Bowl. When people ask him when he's making Elf 2, he's using the Jonas Brothers to mentally push through it.We're transported to the theater where the JoBros come out and sing Feels Like Christmas, and we could not be more in. Neither could Will Ferrell. He is loving it.The show wraps and they head to the end-of-tour party. They've got a flight in the morning, but their manager is leaving tonight, so he gives each of them a whistle “in case they need it,” and a card for a 24/7 travel agency. Joe rips it up — they don't need that.Joe wants to go out with his brothers, but they aren't having it. They're tired dads in their 30s — what could they possibly be missing out on? Joe breaks into a full musical number about what could happen that night. It does not work.Nick FaceTimes Priyanka to say how excited he is to get home. He's exhausted. Touring is hard and, according to Nick, he's the only brother who really works.Kevin FaceTimes Danielle, and she asks if he's told the brothers his “news.” He has not.Joe heads to the hotel bar where he chats with Santa, who asks what's got him down in the dumps. Joe just misses the good old days when the brothers actually hung out. After Joe walks away, Santa sings a spell that will remind them of their brotherly magic. Unless they find that bond again, they won't make it home for Christmas. And to make sure that happens? Santa blows up their plane. The brothers arrive at the airport to find their plane destroyed. Luckily, Brad (their manager) slipped the travel-agency cards into their wallets. They call, and the agent gets them a flight out of another airport — but they have to catch a train in 30 minutes. Their driver is absolutely unhinged, like Dan trying to make it to the Kelly Clarkson Show taping on time. They grab their tickets and even have time for a song about coming home for Christmas. Kenny G pops in for a sax solo because of course he does. But once they board the train, it magically switches from heading to Paris to heading to Amsterdam. Uh oh.On the train, Joe bumps into his childhood love, Lucy, who moved to Portland back when they were in love. She's going through a breakup and came to Europe for some space. They hug and part ways. Definitely nothing to worry about. They're shocked when they actually end up in Amsterdam and are forced to stay the night with no guaranteed flight in the morning. Luckily, Ethan — the guy Nick starred with in Home Alone: The Musical — is doing a one-night-only show called Egg Nog with an EGOT and is flying out on a private jet. Maybe they can hitch a ride. Unfortunately, Ethan hates Nick. Ethan played Kevin, Nick played his dad, and it created… weird vibes. They show up to the show, Nick sings a duet from the musical, and he accidentally embarrasses Ethan. So: no plane.Crazily, Lucy is also there. Joe hangs out with her for the night, which gives Santa the opportunity to swipe the passports Joe keeps in his fancy passport pouch. Joe and Lucy jump into a freezing canal and get chased by police — a whole thing — but Joe fumbles the moment romantically. He knows it, so he sings about it.The brothers call the travel agent again, who says if they can get to Germany, her ex-boyfriend can fly them home on his private jet. They rent a car, it breaks down, and they end up hitching a ride with a Christmas tree truck driven by… Santa, naturally. After a heart-to-heart with Santa, Nick hops in the back to hang with his brothers, complete with a song and childhood Christmas home videos. They finally reach the jet — which is piloted by Archie from Riverdale. The dude is unhinged, gets knocked out, and they're forced to crash-land the plane. It's freezing. This leads to a massive argument. Nick extended the tour without them. Joe thinks Nick is mean to him. Kevin just wants to sing a lead vocal on one song. They storm off and — of course — sing about it.They eventually find their way back to each other… but now they're surrounded by wolves. Luckily, wolves hate loud noises, so they all take turns yelling apologies. Santa scares off the wolves. Then Brad shows up to save them and finally get them home for Christmas. The brothers convince Lucy to show up and surprise Joe. He tries to give a romantic speech that absolutely stinks, but it's good enough because they kisssssss. Then they break into song — and Kevin finally gets to take the bridge. The movie ends with Will Ferrell at yet another Jonas Brothers concert as they sing Sucker. This week on aBlogtoWatch Weekly, Ariel, Rick, and Ripley kick off with a philosophical spin on time itself before diving into the irony of Phillips celebrating a watch that resold for less than before, and how auction houses keep fueling inflated prices that manipulate market perception. Ariel revisits his article on the realities of watch auctions, exploring how media hype perpetuates unrealistic valuations. The group then shifts to the retail side as Ariel breaks down why the luxury watch industry's high pricing strategy has created its own worst enemy, and why consumers are growing weary of inflated retail tags. Their conversation expands to the fate of brands like Timex, Daniel Wellington, and Fossil, with sharp insights into how microbrands are reshaping entry level watch culture. They dive into Nick Jonas' Fossil endorsement, questioning if anyone has ever actually seen him wear one or if it's just the most expensive wrist costume in pop history, Trump's “gold bar” moment, and the absurdity of “tiny window” watches. The team closes with two fiery rants, one from Ripley on why the MoonSwatch is not really affordable and another from Ariel on brands that think tiny illegible watch windows are the next big thing

Hollywood has never shied away from portraying obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) — but it often gets it wrong. Typically, OCD is reduced to a punchline, a quirky habit, or a stereotype about neatness and handwashing. In this episode, TV & movie actor Rachel Alig and award-winning filmmaker Sam Sabawi take us behind the scenes of their acclaimed short film “For All I Know” to show how OCD can — and should — be portrayed with truth and compassion. Sam, who lives with OCD, explains why lazy writing has distorted public understanding and how he used his lived experience to create an authentic story. Rachel shares the emotional depth required to embody a character with OCD, and how she avoided the clichés that Hollywood often leans on. Together, they reveal how real therapy techniques — especially exposure and response prevention (ERP) — were brought into the film to highlight the messy, ongoing reality of recovery. Listener takeaways: how Hollywood depictions have shaped public misconceptions of OCD and why the process of authentically portraying OCD on screen matters what OCD actually is — and isn't why ERP therapy is the gold standard for treatment This is a rare insider look at mental illness through the eyes of two industry leaders determined to change how we see OCD. Listen now! Sam and Rachel's Award-Winning Short Film About OCD, For All I Know, is available on YouTube now. (Viewing Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vwk4UPHKp0) Our guest, Sam Sabawi, is a two-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker whose work spans narrative fiction, documentary, and unscripted formats. A five-time Telly Award winner and two-time Anthem Gold recipient, Sabawi brings over a decade of experience in visual storytelling across scripted film, development, and branded content. His recent short film For All I Know explores the interior landscape of OCD to externalize intrusive thoughts. The film is currently on its festival circuit. Our guest, Rachel Alig, is quickly establishing herself as a dynamic force in both comedy and drama, with a growing list of standout performances across film, television, and commercial work. With over a decade of experience, she has shared the screen with acclaimed talent including John Magaro (The Big Short, PastLives, Carol), Lou Diamond Phillips, Nick Jonas, Jason Biggs, Rob Riggle, and Master P. Leave an Amazon Rating or Review for my New York Times Bestselling book, Make Money Easy! The Jonas Brothers arrived in the SOG studio carrying 20 years of wisdom about surviving fame, failure, and brotherhood in the music industry. Kevin, Nick, and Joe open up about their darkest moments - from Kevin losing 90% of his wealth in bad business deals to Nick's daughter spending months in the NICU to Joe navigating public heartbreak while performing eight shows a week.
