Mark isn't the most musical-movie inclined fan, but I've been known to enjoy one from time to time.Ryan tends to be, tho.Two of director John Carney's previous films (Sing Street and Flora and Son) are, by any definition, great, and we both enjoyed the hell out of them.Paul Rudd is a commodity best taken in manageable doses, and Nick Jonas is, put simply, not Mark's cup of tea. With these two competing thoughts in my head, how then would we react to POWER BALLAD98 Minutes, Rated RWritten by John Carney, Peter McDonaldDirected by John Carney Synopsis:Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. John Carney is back in wide release for the first time since Sing Street, and Power Ballad might be the movie that finally gets him the Best Original Song nomination the Academy has owed him for a decade. We get into Paul Rudd's quietly devastating turn as a wedding singer whose song gets stolen, Nick Jonas as the surprise of the film, the structural problem that keeps it from a perfect score, and why Taylor Swift and Toy Story 5 might wreck his Oscar run anyway.Preorder Succession Planning where ever you get ebooks here:https://books2read.com/u/bzE9g9

A flesh-eating parasite called the screwworm fly has reemerged in Texas. It's the first time in decades the parasite, which can kill livestock, has threatened the U.S. cattle industry. She speaks to "CBS Mornings" about confronting her childhood trauma, her healing journey and more.Nick Jonas speaks with "CBS Mornings" about starring in the new film "Power Ballad." He explains how he reflected on his own life for the movie, why it's relatable and what it was like working with Paul Rudd. Jonas also reveals what's next for him.
John Mayer released an amazing album on this day and Nick Jonas talks about his daughter's taste in music.
A former rock star (?) who now fronts a wedding band spends an evening jamming with a former boy band member, only to find later on that said boy band member steals his song and turns it into a hit. Ashley & Matt review the new movie Power Ballad in this episode.
With movies like “Once,” “Begin Again” and “Sing Street,” Irish filmmaker John Carney has found a way to make movie musicals relevant for contemporary audiences. His latest effort is "Power Ballad." Kansas City's Paul Rudd stars alongside Nick Jonas in the story of a struggling wedding singer who bonds with a pop star. When the former boy band member steals a song from his friend, things get dicey. Rudd is as good as he's been in years, and Jonas is solid in a role tailor made for him. “Power Ballad” is a rousing crowd-pleaser that's filled with catchy music. If you are familiar with the phrase, "By the power of Grayskull," then the clunky action fantasy "Masters of the Universe" might be nostalgic for you...but that's really all it's got going for it. In this update of the 80s adventure cartoons based on the line of Mattel toys, Nicholas Galitzine plays an annoyingly uncertain He-Man, Jered Leto provides the petulant voice of Skeletor and Idris Elba is wasted as a washed-up warrior. The movie's tongue-in-cheek approach never works. “Masters of the Universe” lacks the power. The Wayans Brothers are back with yet another ultra raunchy horror movie parody. Despite its title, "Scary Movie" is actually “Scary Movie 6,” the latest installment in the franchise that started 26 years ago. It reunites many of the movies' familiar cast members including Marlon and Shawn Wayans and a few dozen other Wayans, Regina Hall and Anna Faris. Sadly, the Wayans have officially run out of ideas for “Scary Movie” and try to fill the gap with repetitive and aggressively offensive material. Now that's scary.
In the wonderful new film Power Ballad, Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas play two musicians whose careers haven't exactly gone to plan – but one song may change that. Rick (Rudd) is a wedding band singer in Ireland and Danny (Jonas) is a former boy band member. They collaborate on a song that Rick wrote a few years ago, but Rick later finds out that Danny is trying to pass off the song as his own. Power Ballad was directed by John Carney, who also made Sing Street and Once. "Power Ballad" is a 2026 musical comedy-drama film directed and co-written by John Carney, starring Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor. The film tells the story of Rick Power (Rudd), a wedding singer, who meets washed-up former boy band singer Danny Wilson (Jonas) at a wedding one night and bonds over a jam session. After the jam session, Danny steals one of Rick's songs, and it becomes a number-one hit. This brings Danny back into the spotlight, leading Rick to seek revenge and recognition. The film had its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival and has received positive reviews for its two performances, Carney's direction, and, of course, the music. Carney was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about his work and experience making the film, which you can listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in theaters from Lionsgate and will expand to more theaters on June 5th. Thank you, and enjoy! Her story is a strong example of how consistency, self-belief, and a clear understanding of your strengths can build a sustainable career in dance.Kelly also opens up about pivotal career moments, including choreographing for Shakira, creating the viral Descendants “Red” dance, working with Disney again for Zombies 4, and stepping into the convention circuit with Press Play. She speaks candidly about the sacrifices that come with an unpredictable dance career, the importance of finding balance, and why comparison can be one of the biggest traps for dancers. Throughout the conversation, she emphasizes confidence, cleanliness, performance quality, leadership, and health, while reminding dancers to stop chasing someone else's lane and instead build a career around what makes them unique.Show NotesKelly started dance later than mostCompetition dance quickly became serious trainingHip-hop training shifted her career pathRenting her own studio built momentumStudent videos helped grow her platformShakira was her first big choreography breakRed became a major viral momentPress Play marks a new chapterComparison can block your growthHealth and balance sustain longevityBiography:Kelly Sweeney is a dynamic choreographer, educator, and creative force with a diverse career across television, film, live entertainment, theater, and professional sports. Good Morning Angels, Happy Monday. A brand new week is upon us, and the celebrity world has absolutely not been resting. I'm Age London and I've been up since that crackad on collecting every single drop a tea for you. You're welcome, babes. Today. Meghana Stallion has put Clay Thompson on full blast and everybody on her side. Book Talk has officially been given its own bestseller chart, and I have thoughts all good ones. Helena Bonham Carter has exited White Lotus before filming even properly got started. And there's a new film coming out next month that I didn't know existed until today, and now it's all I can think about. So let's spore some tea. First Up Rapper and Broadway Start. Meghan Stallion is dumped NBA player Clay Thompson after less than a year of dating, and she did not go quietly. She posted to her Instagram stories cheating. You had me around your whole family playing house, got cold feet, holding you down through all your horrible moods, wings and treatment towards me during your basketball season. Now you don't know if you can be monogamous, followed by like five question marks. Then came the formal statement. She said, I've made the decision to end my relationship with Clay. Trust, fidelity and respect a non negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I personally preferred the Instagram run, but I respect her being classy about it. Now, let's put this in context. Two months ago, Meghan was publicly manifesting her own engagement. She'd met his whole family. The man named his boat after her, the ss Stallion that apparently could manage to be faithful Clay buddy, the ss Stallion deserved better, inserted Meghan next time. This one is for the readers, but not like literary fiction readers, the real ones like me, who spend more time than they care to imagine reading about other people. Bonking book Talk has officially been given its own UK bestseller chart. The new list is compiled by a media controller Nielsen IQ Book Data, the same people behind the Sunday Times bestseller list, so you know it's legit. It combines UK sales data with analyzes of the BookTok hashtag with over seventy seven million posts under the tag book It's about time they put some respect on Booktok's name. The inorderal Top twenty is entirely made up of female authors, as it should be. Irish writer Chloe Walsh appears the most. All six books in her Boys of Tom and series have made the list, which follows a group of teenagers navigating love, friendship and trauma at a private school. Romandes. He dominates, with Sarah g Mass and Rebecca Garris, both featuring heavily on top of the list. Heated rivalry of course, stick Around. We've got the Nick Jonas film that I did know existed and are now having an existential crisis over Helena Bottom. Carter has exited the White Lotus and the Sires family at a stagecoach moment that signals a full reconciliation. Welcome back to Morning Tea. Now over the weekend and you trailer dropped for a movie I didn't know all about until now, and I can't believe it. I'm beside myself with anticipation for May twenty nine. The film is called Power Ballad and it stars Paul Rudd and Nick freaking Jonas so Rad plays a wedding spinger past his prime. Nick plays a washed up boy band member. They have a late night jam by coincidence, and Paul Wright's character plays him a song he's been working on. Fast Forward. The pop star releases the song, reigniting his career. But this is when it gets complicated. You don't recognize it, should I of course yes you should. If that's my chorus and verse. I wrote at that time, when Wow, Danny Wilson, you were great up there, come with me. I could tell with any two minutes of any you you are ninely some boy band guy, and you are too good for that wedding band to him with this one for years. So every Signverrold in my life, it's about you. Sockered. The film is directed by the same guy who made Once, which if you haven't seen, please stop what you're doing and watch immediately, and he's already receiving rave reviews. Paul Right and Nick Jonas in a music film about songwriting, friendship and betrayal, put it in my veins. Helena Bottom Carter announced it as part of the White Load of season forecast back in January. Has exited the show and the timing is extraordinary. HBO released his statement seeing the character did not align once on set, and that the role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten, and will be being recast in coming weeks. So what we understand is that she got to Saint Trepe, unpacked her bags, got a couple of days into filming, and then it became clear to both parties it wasn't working. Reports suggests the role was central to the season story, which is why the decision was made to rewrite it entirely. I want to know if she got paid for a couple of days or she just got a free holiday at Center Pay, which I said wouldn't be bad about. The season is set during the Cannes Film Festival on the French Riviera, filming in Center Pey, Monaco and Paris. And finally, Noah Cyrus made her stagecoach debut on Friday over in the States and saved the best of last. After a studying set, she brought out her brother Brazen and then her dad, Billy Ray to perform their new song on Our Way Along a song tonight. Thank you so much for coming to see my first ever stage church. I'd like to talk about my brother Brazen and welcome my dad. Billy Ray's single written I produced by my brother Brazen, Hold on our way Along. You're right now. If you don't know anything about the Syrus family, there was some estrangement after Tish and Billy raised Aborce Scott Murkhy. Since then, Miley and Billy Ray have made up and now it's lovely to see they all seem to be on better terms, proof that once again, all faunilies are complicated, even when you're all famous. And now, my darlings, is it for today's morning tea. But thank you for spending a couple of minutes of your public holiday Monday with me. Hope you have a wonderful day with friends and family.
