Hello and welcome to a special episode of the North Carolina Food and Beverage podcast. I'm your host Max Trujillo and this week, we took the show on the road! We ventured to Peachland, NC to visit Jon G's BBQ. On this journey, I hopped in the SUV with former guest and recurring guest co-host Kyle Sutton of Bestow Baked Goods. This was Kyle's brainchild of an episode - which was a thoughtfully planned out tailgate party in anticipation of enjoying some of the best brisket in the state - Jon G's BBQ. Along for the ride are fellow BBQ enthusiasts Curtis Bradley and Luke Minogue who added great content for the trip. Matthew Weiss sadly wasn't able to attend, so we saved some brisket on our journey back home. What I found to be really interesting, is a tailgate at an NC bbq joint is a slice of Americana most people are unaware of. Kyle did more than enough by assembling breakfast dishes that included memphis style dry runner smoked wings, a savory bread budding, brownies and cold brew coffee. And because he's a professional and knew there'd be a huge gathering of other BBQ lovers, he actually brought enough to share with dozens of people. This episode, available both as an audio podcast and on our YouTube station, take you behind the scenes of what it takes a master at the helm of his craft - Jon G himself - or better know as Garren Kirkman. Who joined up with us when we arrived at 8am to discuss his craft and how we created Jon G's BBQ. We will get into a celebrity wedding he catered, his type of smoker of choice, wood choice, heck, even the salt and pepper he uses. There's a lot of fun BBQ nerd talk so sit back and let the smoke fill your ears. Support our Sponsors: Drink Joe Van Gogh Coffee! Shop at Triangle Wine Company! There is no shortage of change inside of hypergrowth companies. The channels through which we market to our customers change. The ways we engage with prospects change. But there is an exception. The people on the other side of those interactions -- they remain constant. Today’s guest, Kyle Sutton, breaks down why this one constant matters so much. Kyle is the Senior Director of Marketing at SolarWinds, a publicly traded IT infrastructure company with a market cap of $6 billion dollars. In our conversation, Kyle teaches us how to get to know those end users. We go deep on storytelling, how to learn about your users based on the questions they ask, and why scrappiness is the trait that he looks for on his teams today. Like this episode?
