Buster Olney of ESPN joins us for our special weekly conversation to talk about the M's 18-12 record at the end of April, playing well against the American League West and much more, including Jorge Polanco's resurgence at the plate and concerns over Logan Gilbert's flexor tendon strain. Also, what does he make of the big weekend series with the Rangers and can the M's make any trades to help offset the injury issues?
Headlines and GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) joins us now that the NFL Draft dust has settled and brings us the latest 12th Man News ahead of Rookie Mini Camp this weekend. :30- ABCs of the Mariners - J is for JP, who is back at the top of the lineup and he has earned it. - K is for Kevin- how much credit should we give Kevin Seitzer for this offensive baseball team? - L is for Lefties- how many lefties do the Rangers have? We need to know how much Polanco will be playing. :45- What happened in Pittsburgh last night?
On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy, Rob Staton from SeahawksDraftBlog.com and our MLB Insider Ryan Divish. Puck and Jim start off the show laughing at the offensive surge from Jorge Polanco and the Mariners. It just continues, My Oh My! Jim's wife Kathy crashes the party and Puck wonders why isn't she doing the podcast over Jim! Puck and Jim also dive into the Cougars home football schedule and TV partners and times announced, plus they discuss Bill Belichick's book tour and his psychotic young girlfriend, Tyrese Haliburton's dad running onto the court to confront Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Atlanta Falcons fining their defensive coordinator for his sons prank on Sheduer Sanders. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftblog.com, joins Puck to wrap up the NFL draft and loves what the Seahawks did over the course of three days. They chat about Grey Zabel's impact, Jalen Milroe's role on the team, the athleticism of the class, and how every pick just made sense for Seattle. Rob heaps a lot of praise at John Schneider and Mike Macdonald. Ryan Divish and Puck discussed the incredible start to the season for Jorge Polanco and the Mariners offense and try to make sense of what they have done. The simple answer is that they don't have any answers for what is going on, but rather they are just sitting back and enjoying the wave of offense. The injuries continue to mount for Seattle with now Dylan Moore and Luke Raley going to the IL. How long will Logan Gilbert be out for and is George Kirby getting closer to coming back? The bullpen needs help and help is on its way with Matt Brash. What's going on with Bryce Miller? It feels like Miller will eventually make a visit to the IL as well. Lastly, Puck and Divish wrap up talking NWA wrestling and their love affair with Dusty Rhodes. Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” The Mariners offensive surge is awesome, but the starting pitching is starting to worry Puck. (3:28) -Puck and Jim (37:30) -Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftblog.com (1:02:45) -MLB Insider Ryan Divish (1:23:06) - “Hey, What the Puck!?”
- It's all about Polanco!! Polo's two (almost 3) homeruns last night lifted the Mariners past the Angels and the only person playing better than him this season is Aaron Judge. And over this past week, Polanco is even above Judge. Last year's injury clearly affected Polanco more than we recognized and now that his knee is healthy, we barely recognize this guy. :30- Mariners Morning After- We already told the story, but it was all about Polanco in last night's win. Dan Wilson was asked about Polo's hot streak compared to some of the hot hitting he's seen in his career from Griffey and Edgar. The one bummer is he can't hit lefties while his side is still recovering from the injury, so there's no way they can play him against a leftie tonight, right? :45- UW Spring Game is Friday and we chatted with Husky running back Jonah Coleman yesterday about his preparations heading into his 2nd season at UW.
Brady is back for a packed Tuesday episode, discussing the Mariners impressive run to get to 16-12 overall. He talks about his belief in Jorge Polanco being justified, some interesting comments from a former GM on Julio Rodriguez and he shares the story of how he came to acquire the coveted 1989 Ken Griffey Jr. Upper Deck rookie card.Furthermore, injury expert Will Carroll stops by with an optimistic outlook for Logan Gilbert and explains to us what's going on with his flexor tendon, and we're joined by our Mariners on SI reporter Teren Kowatsch, who explains what's changed for JP Crawford and if there's any worry for Ben Williamson's back.

The Masters are a tradition unlike any other… until a guy pees in Rae's Creek! Amateur Ballester said he forgot there was a bathroom on the next hole when he relieved himself in the creek and we are surprised he was even allowed to continue playing. :30- The Mariners are struggling with injuries; who might they be able to add to the roster? - Is there room for JD Martinez and would he come here? - The Polanco situation has to be figured out first- if he's not able to play in the field, then we're backlogged at DH. :45- John Schneider is telling people not to sleep on this QB class. Is it just gamesmanship or are the Seahawks seriously looking at taking a quarterback in the draft?
The gloves are OFF and the crystals are flying!
Headlines and Mariners concerns. Yes, the M's pulled off a 7-6 comeback win, but there are some major concerns with this team and injuries are #1. Polanco, Robles and now Bliss are all dealing with injuries. Can the offense find a way to score runs without those guys? Maybe, if they weren't so strapped offensively already, and having to rely on so many guys who can only do certain things well and aren't well-rounded. :30- Draftmas Stocking Stuffers - Could the 49ers trade Purdy to Pittsburgh and bring in Aaron Rodgers, then draft Sanders? How serious are they considering something like that or is it just media speculation? - We haven't seen any trades so far, but we might see some movement on Draft Day- New England seems to be the team most likely to trade down; could Philly be their trade partner? :45- Dan Hurley's got excuses for his bad behavior, are we buying it? Is it just a “Jersey thing?”
We are back on a very eventful Tuesday! First, the Mariners beat the Astros on Monday night thanks to some more late-game heroics from Jorge Polanco. What went well in the win, and what still needs improving? Also, Brady talks about the situation Dan Wilson found himself in in the 8th inning and discusses how it underscores the biggest flaws with the team. Then, what's the latest on Victor Robles, George Kirby, Matt Brash and Troy Taylor? And then we speak to TJ and Lyle from the Marine Layer Podcast about how they got their start, how they've grown and more. Also: Thursday's episode will feature Buster Olney of ESPN and Friday will feature Cal Raleigh's dad, Todd Raleigh!
The Gators hoisted the National Championship Trophy after an intense final game. Houston held a 12 point lead in the 2nd half, but it doesn't seem fair to say they blew it. Florida was the better team and it was only a matter of time before they showed it. :30- Mariners Morning After- The Mariners managed a 4-3 win over the Houston Astros last night at T Mobile behind the bat of Jorge Polanco, yet again. Polanco leads with team with 10 RBI this season. Logan Gilbert also had a solid outing, but still can't get a W of his own. :45- Draftmas Stocking Stuffers - It would take an historic move to get the Titans to move off the #1 pick - Adam Schefter is sticking to his idea that Shadeur Sanders will not go in the top 2 - Would the 49ers make a move to trade Brock Purdy and bring in Aaron Rodgers, then draft Sanders?

ERIC EDHOLM (NFL.com) joins us for Mock Draft Thursday, a staple of Draftmas. What's better than one draft? Lots of drafts before the draft, duh! - A Shadeur Sanders trade in round 1 of Eric's Draft 2.0 has a lot of people talking! - What makes the most sense for the Seahawks at 18? - Should they grab a QB and where? :30- It's the ABCs of the Mariners! - G: is for grunter. We are going to face the grunter, Robbie Ray on Saturday in San Francisco. First grunt at 7:05. - H: is for Hernandez. It's been pretty painful to watch Teoscar and Geno Suarez succeed with their new franchises. - I: is for infield. The infield was the big concern heading into this season and so far Polanco and D Mo are batting .391 while the rest of the group struggles with a .103 avg and one extra base hit. :45- Could Tyron Smith be a fit for the Seahawks? Where would he play? While some are speculating that he might be headed towards retirement, others are looking at the possibility that the Seahawks are interested in the veteran offensive lineman.
The regular season has arrived! Cal Raleigh has been extended for 6 years. Much needed. Keep Garver off the field, his subpar catching is already on display in the second game of the season. Mastrobouni is batting 1.000 and Polanco has no arm at third. We've seen the good and the bad and it hasn't even been 48 hours. Nonetheless, we're super excited for another season of Mariners baseball! All opinions expressed in this podcast are our own. How much credit are we giving to the Torpedo bats? - It's not nothing, but there are definitely some benefits to the idea. You can't credit all 11 of the Yankees HR's (15 total minus Aaron Judge's 4) to these bats, but you can't ignore that something might be there. - There are reports that a lot of players are reaching out to order them, so maybe we will have a better understanding of the significance when we can see it used by other teams and players. - Bucky breaks down the significance of the Torpedo bat and the weight distribution and what it can mean for each player's swing. - How much of it could also play into the mental part of the game? :30- The Final Four is set with all four #1 seeds advancing. Are you unfulfilled? :45- We recap our Green Jacket standings… it's feeling like Bucky could be wearing this thing for a long time… Who knew Chuck's team of Polanco and Arozarena would lead things after Opening weekend?

HUGH MILLEN joins the show to give us his insight on the addition of Cooper Kupp and how he sees the wide receiver fitting in in Seattle. :30- The Mariners released today's starting lineup and it sure does look like it COULD be the starting lineup for Opening Day. Robles, Rodriguez, Raleigh, Arozarena, Raley, Polanco, Tellez, Bliss, Crawford- what do we think? And before we can even finish talking about it, Rodriguez has been pulled, Raley moved to center and Shenton is in at 1st. :45- The fun of Bracket Monday continues! UNC getting into the tourney has people in an uproar and there's some hypocrisy in play here… West Virginia gets left out because their best player is injured, meanwhile Iowa State gets a 3 seed and has two players out.
Today's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett starts off with Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy and Puck jumping into the trade rumors circulating around D.K. Metcalf, Geno Smith and what is shaping up to be a tumultuous offseason for the Seahawks. Are the Seahawks better off getting rid of D.K.? Chris Egan, King 5, drops by for his weekly visit with Puck and Jim and they discuss the high school basketball tournament down in Tacoma, D.K. Metcalf wanting out of Seattle, Egan and his wife role playing, Justin Turner comments and Jerry Dipoto gives another awkward interview and the boys react. Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” (3:05) -Puck and Jim start off the show getting right into Puck's interview with Mike Garafolo, NFL Network and Michael-Shawn Dugar, The Athletic, on the trade request of D.K. Metcalf, Raiders landing spot, teams calling on Geno Smith, and are the Seahawks better off without Metcalf?(33:29) -Puck, Jim and Chris Egan, King 5 - high school basketball championships in Tacoma, DK Metcalf demands a trade, Egan role plays with his wife, Justin Turner sounds off on team and Jerry Dipoto does another interview. (1:12:42) -“The Scout” debut podcast with Puck and a major league baseball scout with 30-plus years covering baseball, gives Puck the latest on the Mariners, offseason moves, Polanco, J.P. Crawford struggles, Donovan Solano and who he thinks the best pitcher on the Mariners staff is. (1:34:39) -“Hey, What the Puck?!” I've seen a lot of Rainier Beach teams, this is the most unselfish, fastest and best passing team I've ever seen.
Bucky is out for the rest of the week and we have decided that just adding an accent on the word colon would make the whole thing sound much more appealing. It's the last day to franchise tag and the Bengals slapped one on Tee Higgins- probably a smart move, but they should definitely trade him now. :30- Jorge Polanco made his spring debut yesterday and we discuss his own admission that last year was just a bad year for him, no excuses. Should we expect more from him and Mitch Garver this year? :45- There aren't a lot of big name Centers out there on the free agent market, and if the Seahawks want to appease Klint Kubiak, they need to get one this year. Is Drew Dalman a possibility? Will they need to look to the draft instead?
With affirmative action and so-called diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs under attack by President Donald Trump, J.C. Polanco is holding his ground. A former Republican candidate for public advocate in New York City, Polanco is the CEO of the Council on Legal Education Opportunity, a national nonprofit organization that was founded in 1968 to expand opportunities for underrepresented students to attend law school. Polanco, who is also a law professor at the University of Mount St. Vincent, joined NY1's Errol Louis to discuss his push to make the legal field more diverse and the obstacles his organization faces due to reduced funding and political attacks. A falta de algún dato anecdótico, aquí os presentamos esta investigación original de Zona HIstoria auspiciada por la familia gaditana de Bernabé García Polanco.
Chuck and Anders break down the Jorge Polanco (re) signing, and of course, talk about the comments made by Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto summarizing the offseason.
Our Mariners insider Shannon Drayer joins us to discuss the Jorge Polanco signing and why the M's will be playing him at third base. Then, we discuss the Polanco deal, the M's non roster invites being announced, and the Kraken's win in Need to Know. Plus, we take your calls as we do every Friday.
Ian has been trying to go into the Polanco re-signing with a positive attitude, but the best one-word reaction he can come up with is 'really?'. We all give our immediate reactions. Danny O'Neil, The Dang Apostrophe! Danny reacts to the Jorge Polanco signing and while he doesn't think the move hurts the Mariners, but they have to figure out how to get over the hump. Is it really breaking news that T-Mobile is a difficult park in which to hit? Finally, Danny reacts to Pete Carroll's hiring in Las Vegas. Pete Carroll has 170 wins, two conference championships and a Super Bowl. What makes a Hall of Fame coach? Rylee Pay, Voice of the Rainers tells us about her journey to the Pacific Northwest in getting the job calling plays here in Tacoma. It takes a labor of love. She shares some stories and memories from her time rising the ranks. We take feedback from listeners on the Jorge Polanco signing. How does Pete Alonso not have a contract yet? Regardless, he's a pipe dream for the Mariners. The Daily Power Play! Steve Palazzolo, The 33rd Team joins Ian hot off the Senior Bowl. He gives us some intel on what he saw in the young talent entering the draft. While the quarterback group doesn't necessarily have any great quarterbacks, there are a lot of good ones. He thinks the Jaxon Dart hype is going to grow as we lead up to the draft. Steve evaluates the talent at each position he saw in Mobile. Crosstalk with Softy!
Bucky is back from his colonoscopy and he got a special surprise message to wish him well! Cam Newton said he would not trade his MVP for a Super Bowl ring and that he knows he did his job and we discuss. Is there too much put on a Championship to validate and athlete's success? :30- The Mariners are bring back Jorge Polanco and at this point, it's something in an offseason where they've done nothing. It's not THE move, but it's a move that we are ok with. But, and it's a big BUT, there'd better be more. :45- The Kraken dominated the Sharks in a battle of the seas last night at CPA. Brandon Montour snapped a 20 game goalless streak and put two away last night, going “Full Monty” as Everett put it.
Headlines and Gregg Bell (Tacoma News Tribune/933 KJR) joins the show with the latest 12th Man News, including the Seahawks new Pro Bowl additions, Klint Kubiak's arrival and more. :30- We dive a little deeper into the return of Jorge Polanco and look at the makeup of this roster as it stands now and what we can expect from him in his 2nd year with the M's. Polanco will move to 3rd and the Mariners save money on the $12 Million they would have owed him. They still need to do more, so where do they go from here? There's plenty on the free agent market and trade possibilities are still out there as well. :45- Are some rule changes coming to major sports? Both the PGA Tour and NBA are looking at making some pretty big changes!
