Onze traditionele week op de Wadden zit er weer op. Alles was hetzelfde en dat was goed. Een eclips met friet erbij blijkt een ideale avond uit te zijn. Maar er is ook verdrietig nieuws, en dat heeft iets met kip Tineke te maken, en the long way home. Aaf is alweer op weg naar haar volgende vakantie in Berlijn, en dat noopte tot de grote vraag van deze week: ben ik daar te oud voor? Naar de club, in een rij staan, gekeurd worden door een door man die Sven heet: kan ze dat nog aan op haar 51ste?Ben je ooit officieel te oud voor dingen - kun je bijvoorbeeld op zeker moment in je leven nog zeggen dat iets helemaal uitgespeeld hebt? Een luisteraar zit met ouders die extreem veel helpen met verbouwen, maar ook elke te plaatsen plank en deur van bemoeierig commentaar voorzien. En in de hoek der natuur zit een sprinkhaan, die deze week ook nog belandde in de snavel van kip Lida. En zo komt alles samen.

Terwijl Lies’ kippensaga een verrassende maar ook dramatische nieuwe wending leek tenemen, zwom Aaf op haar reisbestemming naturistisch op een plek die zij geheel onbewoondachtte. Kortom: we hebben een paar weken vakantie gehad en er is weer van alles gebeurd.Daarom lazen wij de nieuwbrief van professor Lars Tummers over de vakantie en de post-vakantie: hoe vier je het beste je vrije tijd, en kun je de ontspannen vibes – als je die al opdoet– vasthouden in het leven ná de vakantie? We ontdekten belangrijke nieuwe termen zoalsaandachtsresidu en de radicale out-of-office, en concludeerden dat wij het best goedaangepakt hadden, op Corsica en in Montenegro.Een luisteraar heeft een groot en wellicht nog uitdijend gezin, en maakt zich zorgen of dat nietakelig is voor haar lieve, ongewenst kinderloze, familieleden. Moet ze om hen ongeluk tebesparen geen kinderen meer willen?En in een hoekje van Instagram staat onze goeroe van deze week, een vrouw met Oost-Europees accent die lichaamsproporties opmeet met een simpel touwtje en je zo preciesvertelt welke broek voor je werkt, hoe laag je halslijn zou moeten zitten, en hoe lang je kettingmoet zijn. Even eerlijk: wie van jullie overweegt er een facelift, botox, fillers of andere plastische ingrepen? Aaf had haar afspraak staan, maar zei die toch af. Wat is dat toch, dat streven naar het ‘perfecte’ Instagramgezicht? Willen we allemaal eindigen zoals Kris Jenner om maar niet toe te geven aan ouder worden? We worden hoe dan ook elke dag geconfronteerd met de laagdrempelige mogelijkheden en vragen ons dan ook geregeld af of we er gelukkiger van worden. In het kader van ijdelheid was Lies geen mooi mens. Het viel haar op dat zij de vakantiefoto’s alleen leuk vond zodra zijzelf mooi op de foto stond. Ongeacht hoe de anderen vastgelegd waren. 

Aaf probeerde de zee te streetmasteren (of zeg je zeemasteren?) vanaf haar kajak. De wereld lachte haar toe. In de lokale apotheek werd ze geconfronteerd met een lelijkere kant. Ze zocht medestanders om mee te oogrollen omdat het allemaal zo lang duurde. Niemand beet in het aas van Aaf.

Jeetje, wat kan het humeur snel omslaan. Jantje lacht, Jantje huilt. Gelukkig lacht Jantje ook weer, maar het kan ook zomaar zo zijn dat Jantje weer huilt. We kunnen het niet volledig op de hormonen afschuiven, maar we kunnen ons wel wapenen tegen de afwisselende humeuren. Daarvoor gaan we terug naar onze persweeën. Lies was erg bezig met haar adempresence toen ze moederziel alleen haar eigen stem moest dubben in een geluidsstudio. Aaf heeft haar zonnebrandgame helemaal op orde. Ze kan nu voorkomen dat het moederbruin op haar borstbeen nóg bruiner wordt.Een sfeerclowntje met waarschijnlijk ook de nodige humeurschommelingen heeft een probleem ingestuurd. Het enthousiasme zorgt voor een bittere nasmaak. Een doodgewone vogel die helemaal niet zo doodgewoon is, zit deze keer in het natuurhoekje.

Moet je jezelf verbeteren of juist een beetje verwoesten? In deze tijd moet alles geoptimaliseerd worden en daar naar leeft, dan verlies je iets. Althans, als we Marian Donner moeten geloven. Ze schreef het zelfverwoestingsboek. De zelfkastijding die we ons opleggen om gelukkig, gezond en efficiënt te zijn, daar wordt geen mens gelukkig van. Kan er een kippenexpert naar deze aflevering luisteren want Lies is het spoor bijster. Kan je kippen insmeren met muggenspul en hoe zorg je ervoor dat ze niet continu bedelen en alles onderschijten? De nood is hoog want Lies staat op het punt om de kippen voorgoed weg te doen en te doneren aan Mister Brad Pitt. Aaf dacht dat ze een bom had aangetroffen in de H&M maar vertelde dat niet aan het personeel. Waar is de tijd gebleven dat kinderen van elf nog gewoon speelden en niet bezig waren met een intense skincareroutine? De nieuwe generatie loopt in ieder geval erg voor op alle 4-2-4-stappen die wij nu pas leren. We komen in de wereld van skincare tot de conclusie dat je niet zoveel nodig hebt. Misschien wat gemalen paracetamol of mummie (als je dat voorhanden hebt natuurlijk).Aaf ondervond dat als je op een grote verjaardag bent, je het beste mee kunt doen in de catering. Al poetsend kwam ze tot rust in de grote menigte. Lies moest ook even kalmeren toen ze eindelijk haar schaftkeet bij haar huisje zag staan. Het gevaarte heeft nog wat liefde nodig om er een zenparadijs van te maken.Geitenkaassalades zijn de trigger die heteromannen tot waanzin drijven. We weten inmiddels dat onze luisteraar die zijn ovenschaal terug wil, een beroep kan doen op zijn medeluisteraars. Mensen, groepeer en haal voor elkaar spullen op bij je ex.

Het is een diverse week: in de peevemand zit een taxi en een koffie-altaar. Er is altijd iets mis met een van de vele reservoirs als je een kop koffie wil bij een automaat: hoe kan dat toch?Aaf worstelde met haar semi-lege nest en kon daardoor niet luisteren naar een lied over een eenzaam satellietje. Lies’ zoon is een schim in huis en staat op het punt om met een rugzak naar de Alpen te gaan. Maar het is ook een eenduidige week, namelijk de week voor we zelf op vakantie gaan. Je kan in die week niets meer hebben, werk lijkt een opdringerig monster en het liefst zou je je hoofd, als ware je Barbie, er even met een harde plop af willen trekken. Gelukkig is daar de goeroe, een vrouw die heel oud werd en het leven goed wist te leven - en die vlak voor haar vakantie een miljoen in de Lotto won en daarmee eindelijk een koffer met wieltjes kocht.
