I am joined for the Landmark Episode 175 by The Present Teacher, Helena Hains. A teacher and a coach for first year and new teachers. When Helena graduated in 2018 with her M.Ed in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon University at the age of 20. Helena moved to Pecos, New Mexico to teach Kindergarten for 3 years. During this time she became overwhelmed and reached teacher burnout and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety during her first year of teaching. From there Helena learned everything about time management and found a way to complete her teacher workload so that she could leave at contract time during my 2nd year of teaching. During this time, Helena decided to start The Present Teacher, a community where new and first year teachers could learn how to manage their workload in the classroom so they can enjoy their life outside of teaching. During this time Helena also created the Thriving Teacher Framework. A framework that helps new and first year teachers management their workload and have a thriving career. The stages are as follows: classroom management, communication, lesson planning and prepping, data and grading, organization, and teacher workload. It's here! Landmark Episode #500 features a great double-header of conversation, first with Ray-Anthony Height from Cornerman, then with Braiden Cox from Sever! Everything kicks off with Ray-Anthony Height, who has a Zoop.gg campaign underway for Cornerman, which is described this way: “When the world's superheroes are captured, who do you send in to rescue them? The man that trained them all! Coach Jason Drexler is dragged out of retirement and into the spotlight to show there's no substitute for skill. He taught them everything THEY know -- not everything HE knows. This 32-page issue #1 is the first appearance of the new baddest man in comics and beyond.” We talk about diversity in comics as well as what sets Cornerman apart from other stories! This project concludes on Wednesday, September 29, so be sure to back them after this episode! Then everything concludes with the return of Braiden Cox as we discuss his Kickstarter for Sever, his latest comic! Here's how this book is described: It's “a romance horror story featuring: a power-hungry necromancer cult and a group of misfit friends that started a metal band.” This project is doing well, but it still needs your support! Be sure to get on board before this concludes on Saturday, October 2, at 5:04 a.m. EDT. Don't miss it!
