The SEC stopped waiting for Congress. Harmony minted four billion tokens out of thin air. And on Robinhood's new chain, AI agents moved $200 million while the humans logged off. Joel and Travis cover the SEC's August 14 vote on Regulation Crypto — the first formal crypto rulemaking of Chairman Paul Atkins' tenure, landing days after the Senate left town without moving the CLARITY Act. Then: Harmony's empty-block exploit that minted 26% of ONE's total supply and the chain rollback the team is now weighing; Goldman Sachs buying NEOS Investments for $2.25 billion and inheriting a bitcoin income ETF; Tether becoming the 17th largest holder of US Treasuries on Earth; Anthropic watermarking everything Claude writes to satisfy the EU AI Act; H100 Group's world-first bitcoin-for-bitcoin acquisition; Hyperliquid's absurd $106 million of revenue per employee; and Anthropic's $9.1 billion, 20-year lease with bitcoin miner Riot Platforms — signed at a moment when it costs more to mine a bitcoin than a bitcoin is worth. Joel demos three AI builds including an America Online time capsule frozen in August 1996, and Travis walks through FourthWeb's agent swarm scraping 150-plus news sources every fifteen minutes. Plus: 52% of Gen Z investors have moved money earmarked for investing into sports betting, and 26% now call it part of their long-term financial strategy. Programming note — this is our second-to-last show before a hiatus. Joel's getting married. We'll be back in late November. We're not quitting. Not financial advice. Today's crypto market is quiet, but it is not calm in a healthy way. Bitcoin is sitting around $64K ahead of the July CPI report, with perpetual trading activity at its lowest level since 2023 and volatility still compressed. The market is waiting for a macro catalyst, but underneath the surface, traders are cautious, altcoins are fragile, and sell pressure from public miners remains a real issue. The biggest security story is Harmony. The project confirmed an exploit where an attacker minted roughly 4 billion ONE tokens, equal to more than a quarter of the supply. ONE fell around 40%, exchanges were asked to freeze funds, and Harmony is now looking at emergency fixes and possible rollback options. That is not just a hack. That is a monetary-integrity failure. On the institutional side, Fidelity is moving to add staking and quarterly cash payouts to its nearly $900 million Ether ETF. That is a major step toward yield-bearing Ethereum ETFs. At the same time, public Bitcoin miners have sold about 28,000 BTC this year, worth roughly $1.78 billion, adding another layer of selling pressure to the market.Regulation is also busy. Russia wants retail crypto trading limited to Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT. The Bank of England is testing how stablecoins and a potential digital pound could work together in trade finance. The CFTC is fighting New York to keep Kalshi operating, while FlightAware dropped its separate lawsuit against Kalshi after just one day.The core theme today: Bitcoin is stuck in hibernation, but the rest of crypto is not quiet. Exploits, regulation, tokenized finance, Ethereum staking, and AI competition are all moving while BTC waits for CPI. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

EPISODE DESCRIPTION I sat down with Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph, to dig into how they're building stablecoin infrastructure that's genuinely changing lives in the Philippines and beyond. Wei walked me through his journey from Goldman Sachs to Binance CFO to buying Coins.ph from Gojek in 2022 and rebuilding it from scratch. We talked about why the Philippines has become a global leader in stablecoin adoption, how they slashed payment fees from 4-8% down to near-zero for Filipino freelancers, and why Wei believes every country needs its own blockchain currency , not just a blockchain dollar. We also got into the Genius Act, the Clarity Act, the upcoming wave of tokenized assets, and what it will take for stablecoins to go truly global. This one is packed with real-world insight from someone actually in the trenches of building payments infrastructure at the intersection of crypto and emerging markets. Tom Gadsden is Vice President of Product at Shufti, the London-based identity-verification and fraud-prevention platform built to let businesses onboard and screen users across borders in seconds rather than days. Gadsden has spent more than a decade building identity and financial-crime products, with earlier roles at credit bureau Experian and in card payments, giving him a close view of how fraud has scaled from a cottage problem into an industry. Why you should listen Shufti sits at an awkward and revealing intersection of the crypto economy. Bitcoin was designed to strip out gatekeepers; Shufti, and the compliance layer it represents, exists to put a version of them back. Gadsden doesn't pretend that tension away. He accepts that know-your-customer checks are anathema to part of the crypto community, and that self-hosted wallets will always let people move funds outside the system. But where crypto collides with fiat on- and off-ramps, governments have decided they want to see where money comes from and where it goes, and firms like Shufti, alongside chain-analytics players such as Chainalysis and Elliptic, are how businesses meet that expectation. He reaches for a useful historical parallel: the card-payments crackdown that arrived with Europe's PSD2 rules, when regulators decided the fraud losses banks had quietly tolerated were grey money the wider economy shouldn't have to absorb. Stablecoin growth, he argues, makes that scrutiny more likely, not less. The most gripping stretch of the conversation is on deepfakes, where Gadsden describes an arms race that has already run through several generations. Shufti is on the third iteration of its detection models, having moved past early metadata tells to techniques that examine how synthetic images blend, how their frequency signatures break down, and what shows up outside the visible spectrum where the generators stop trying. What has really changed, he says, is economics: AI dragged the cost of a convincing fake from tens of dollars to cents, turning fraud into something closer to a production line, with the same operator filing attempt after attempt from bed. The surge is real, with Shufti warning of a many-fold jump in deepfaked-document attacks year over year. The counterintuitive twist is that as detection has caught up, the pendulum has swung back toward human beings: real faces recruited down the pub, and money mules who sail through the initial check and only later start moving other people's money. Catching those cases, Gadsden explains, means watching for behavioral tells, funds fanning in and straight back out, high velocity and low retention, the classic setup where someone keeps fifty pounds for passing thousands through their account. Gadsden is also sharp on where the regulatory map is heading. He reads Tether's retreat from Europe, its USDT effectively pulled from regulated EU exchanges under MiCA, and Binance's withdrawn licensing bid in Greece, as a live test of whether hard rules end up pushing offshore the very firms regulators most want to supervise. On the perennial privacy question he's bracingly unsentimental: anyone uneasy about sharing their face should be far more wary of handing over an iris, a pointed nod to Sam Altman's World project, and even the privacy-forward EU Digital Identity Wallet will still ask for your name, date of birth and a biometric. His honest expectation is that a genuinely high-privacy identity system isn't coming for a decade or two. He closes on a contrarian note for his own industry: the physical passport and plastic driver's license that products like Shufti are built to read will, he suspects, erode faster than most insiders think as digital IDs become the default. It's a clear-eyed, occasionally unsettling tour of the machinery now standing between you and the fraudsters. Wie sindsdien zonder vergunning cryptodiensten aanbiedt, is in overtreding. Over de podcast Cryptocurrency are here to stay. In this episode, Scott and the panel discuss the quick downturn in the crypto markets on the news that Iran ceasfire is over. At the same time, the stablecoin competition between USDT and USDC is heating up, with USDC quietly handling a majority of on-chain transactions, a point highlighted by a recent Visa report. As we consider the implications of institutional adoption and the need for clearer regulations, there's a consensus that the upcoming month is crucial for the Clarity Act, which could influence market dynamics significantly. The introduction of innovative privacy solutions, such as those being developed by Zama, promises to enhance confidentiality in on-chain finance, addressing the growing demand for secure transactions. With expectations that on-chain finance may soon encompass trillions, the future of crypto appears poised for a resurgence, especially if institutions can navigate the balance between privacy and compliance effectively. Podcast Show Notes SummaryAfter returning from a short camping trip, Matt breaks down another volatile day for crypto as Bitcoin slips following renewed tensions in the Middle East after the collapse of the Iran ceasefire. He also covers India's continued push toward stricter crypto policies, Kalshi's latest courtroom loss in New York, and why prediction markets remain caught between financial regulation and gambling laws. The episode also dives into new data showing USDT processed $95 billion in commercial payments during the first half of 2026, while USDT and USDC now account for 83% of the entire stablecoin market. Matt explains why stablecoins are quietly becoming one of the most important pieces of financial infrastructure and why their growth may be a bigger long-term story than Bitcoin's daily price action. Finally, Matt discusses Tom Lee's BitMine purchasing another 40,000 ETH, bringing its holdings close to 5% of Ethereum's circulating supply, and shares his concerns about whether large institutional ownership and Ethereum's move to Proof of Stake could eventually create decentralization issues.Happy Hodling, Everyone. Demetrick, Dr. Corey Petty, and Jesse are back for an episode where the regulated players finish moving in and the outsiders start getting shown the door.BlackRock, Google, Visa, Stripe, MasterCard, Coinbase, and DBS just announced Open Standard USD. It is called open the same way OpenAI is called open. The reserve yield goes to the participating institutions instead of holders, minting and redemption fees get scrapped, and governance sits under a company collectively owned by the biggest financial players on the planet. The guys break down what happens when the payment rails, the asset managers, and the ad tech giants all agree on the same stablecoin at the same time.Meanwhile Tether is done in Europe. USDT trading pairs are gone from Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, and Crypto.com in the EEA because Tether refused to seek MiCA e-money authorization. Demetrick reveals he has an open short on Tether somewhere on the internet and would very much like to find it.The guys also cover the ENS drama that turned out not to be drama at all when the king of the castle stepped in and killed the privacy committee vote from the top. Plus Michael Saylor selling more Bitcoin, and the theory that this is less about strategy and more about staying out of jail. The back half of the show goes philosophical when Corey lays out an essay he wrote called the paradox of democratizing access. When you lower the barrier of entry to a specialized field, you do not get innovation. You get an army of newcomers who confidently reinvent things the experts already figured out, other people throw money at them because money attracts money, and eight moon markets later you are still watching the same cycle. Cue the pitch for Corey to play the Architect from The Matrix explaining this to a young crypto enthusiast in a gray suit.Drop questions in the YouTube comments. Join the Discord.

In this fiery Crypto Town Hall discussion, hosts and guests debate whether MicroStrategy's STRC is truly "digital credit" or high-yield preferred equity riding Bitcoin's wave—sparking retail outrage as it traded sharply below par amid leverage unwinds and DeFi vault concerns. Experts break down the risks of emotional investing, Saylor's bold Bitcoin accumulation strategy, and why forced selling fears are overblown given the company's hoard. The conversation pivots to exciting news from Ledn: support for tokenized Tether Gold (XAUT) alongside expanded stablecoins like USDT and USDC for seamless borrowing, repaying, and trading against Bitcoin. Discover why gold's lower volatility complements Bitcoin as a tried-and-true hard asset, offering potentially better loan terms, and how focusing on real value over hype products leads to smarter portfolio decisions in volatile markets. Vadim Voss, founder of Next Level DeFi, joins the Breakfast Leadership Show to share how everyday people can put their money to work through decentralized finance without trading, without chart-watching, and without being a tech expert. His mission is to help one million people break free from a banking system that was never built to serve them. What You Will Learn Why a savings account earning 2 to 3 percent is quietly losing you money What liquidity mining is and why it puts you on the "house side" of crypto trading How stablecoins like USDT allow you to earn 20 to 30 percent annually with minimal risk Why DeFi positions can be insured for as little as $30 per month per $10,000 deployed How Vadim's students manage their positions in just 5 to 10 minutes per week Why diversification across real estate, gold, stocks, and DeFi is the smart path forward Key Insights Vadim built Next Level DeFi after losing the majority of a $6 million fortune to unreliable foreign banks. Rather than retreat from finance, he learned decentralized systems inside and out and now teaches total beginners how to become the infrastructure that crypto traders rely on. His students are not speculating on the next hot coin. They are providing liquidity to decentralized exchanges and collecting fees the way Robinhood collects trading fees, except those fees flow back to them. The stablecoin liquidity mining strategy Vadim teaches is designed for people who want consistent, predictable monthly income in U.S. dollars without exposure to volatile assets. Since stablecoins are always pegged to $1, the principal does not fluctuate. Returns in the 20 to 30 percent range significantly outperform any traditional bank product, and the addition of smart contract insurance from platforms like Nexus Mutual makes the position arguably safer than a standard FDIC-insured deposit in terms of the user's control and transparency. Michael and Vadim both reinforce that education is the true entry point. Just as Warren Buffett observed that those who do not learn to make money while they sleep will work until they die, both host and guest emphasize that passive income is not a luxury for the wealthy. It is a learnable skill available to anyone willing to invest the time to understand it. Guest Bio Vadim Voss is the founder of Next Level DeFi, a platform dedicated to helping everyday people generate passive income through decentralized finance. An NYU graduate who built and lost a $6 million fortune through international business ventures across Lithuania, Moscow, and Kyiv, Vadim turned adversity into expertise. With over 14 years of experience in crypto and DeFi, he specializes in teaching total beginners how to deploy capital using liquidity mining strategies on platforms like Uniswap. His mission is to help one million people escape the traditional banking system. Free Resource for Listeners Vadim has put together an exclusive bundle for Breakfast Leadership Show listeners called the DeFi Income Blueprint, available free at: nextleveldefi.com/leadership The bundle includes: A DeFi Income Calculator that forecasts your monthly and annual returns based on your capital and risk appetite The Uniswap Ultimate Playbook, a 27-page step-by-step guide to deploying capital on Uniswap. This is the same playbook provided to Vadim's $3,000 coaching clients. Connect with Vadim Voss Website: nextleveldefi.com Free Bundle: https://nextleveldefi.com/leadership

Bitcoin just RIPPED to $66k as Trump confirmed the U.S.-Iran peace deal will be signed Friday in Switzerland — ending the 15-week war that's been crushing risk assets all month. WTI oil collapsed 5%, the Strait of Hormuz reopens within 30 days, Nasdaq futures ripped +1.5%, and Glassnode flagged $68K-$80K as the next bullish marker. Add SpaceX's record-breaking IPO closing +19% at a $1.77 trillion valuation, Tether briefly flipping Ethereum for the first time in 8 years, and Mike McGlone forecasting USDT could eventually top Bitcoin — and today's setup is the cleanest bullish inflection we've seen since October. We break down whether the Iran peace deal marks the cycle bottom and which catalysts could keep this rally running through the G7 summit. Learn more about your ad choices. Bitcoin shed $235 billion in seven days and Arca CIO Jeff Dorman is calling Michael Saylor's "AI capital rotation" excuse for the crash pure "gaslighting." Strategy may have only ~5 months of cash flow left to fund STRC dividends, meaning the world's biggest Bitcoin buyer could become a steady forced seller. USDT just printed a golden cross (historically bearish for BTC), Bitcoin dominance cracked under 58% for the first time since September, and Bloomberg argues the entire industry is structurally pivoting away from speculation toward stablecoins. We break down whether Saylor IS gaslighting holders, when the forced-seller overhang breaks, and whether $60K is the cycle bottom or the trapdoor before $50K. Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, host Stewart Alsop sits down with software engineer and entrepreneur Arowolo Muritadhor for a wide-ranging conversation that moves from agriculture and manufacturing in Nigeria to the evolving role of crypto in the country's economy. They touch on how hyperinflation, particularly the naira's dramatic drop in 2023, pushed Nigerians toward stablecoins as a practical savings tool, and how informal kiosk networks have stepped in where traditional banking infrastructure falls short. The conversation also covers the tension between government regulation and the permissionless nature of blockchain technology, comparisons between the decline of the Roman Empire and current shifts in US economic dominance, the role of mobile payments in Africa, language learning, and whether AI agents have any real utility in crypto infrastructure yet. You can connect with Arowolo on LinkedIn and X at @armolas_06.Timestamps00:00 - Host welcomes Arowolo Muritadhor, introducing topics of software engineering and animal food production in Nigeria.05:00 - Discussion shifts to manufacturing, components assembly, and China's dominance in low-cost production globally.10:00 - Conversation explores crypto adoption in Nigeria as a network state phenomenon, separating informed users from mainstream population.15:00 - Mobile payments and kiosk ATM replacements emerge as critical financial infrastructure bridging unbanked Nigerians.20:00 - Roman Empire parallels drawn to modern crypto taxation, government control, and inevitable death-and-taxes reality.25:00 - Bitcoin and Ethereum permissionless nature debated against government wallet-level censorship vulnerabilities.30:00 - AI agents examined as crypto infrastructure tools, revealing mostly trading bots rather than foundational builders.35:00 - Nigeria's 2023 naira collapse compared to Argentina's hyperinflation, driving citizens toward stablecoin dollar savings.40:00 - US Treasury history unpacked through FDR gold confiscation and Nixon ending convertibility, paralleling empire decline.45:00 - Crypto reframed as anti-bank rather than purely anti-government, enabling freedom through immutable accountability.50:00 - Transparent blockchain ledgers discussed as potential government accountability tools across democracy, republic, and oligarchy structures.Key Insights1. Nigeria has a significant divide between its northern and southern regions in terms of economic activity. The north, centered around Abuja, is more agricultural with substantial cattle production, while Lagos in the south functions as a dense urban and commercial hub. This geographic and economic split shapes how different financial tools and technologies are adopted across the country.2. China's dominance in low-cost manufacturing has made it nearly impossible for countries like Nigeria, the United States, or Argentina to compete on price alone. The more realistic path for developing economies is to import components and focus on local assembly and creativity, which is where meaningful economic participation becomes possible.3. Crypto adoption in Nigeria accelerated dramatically around 2023 when the naira experienced a sharp devaluation against the US dollar. Before that point, saving in dollars was difficult for many Nigerians, especially those without formal bank accounts, making stablecoins like USDT an attractive and practical alternative for preserving wealth.4. Informal kiosk operators in Nigeria have organically become a substitute for ATMs, giving communities access to basic financial services where traditional banking infrastructure does not reach. This grassroots financial layer is now a key entry point for integrating crypto and stablecoin payments into everyday commerce.5. Governments are increasingly trying to regulate crypto at the wallet and centralized exchange level, using tax compliance as a primary mechanism. While Bitcoin and Ethereum remain largely permissionless, the practical chokepoints for most users remain centralized platforms where identity and transactions can be monitored.6. The historical parallel between the fall of the Roman Empire and current shifts in US economic and geopolitical power offers a useful frame for understanding why crypto matters. Just as Rome debased its currency and struggled to sustain imperial costs, the US faces mounting debt and a financialized economy that may accelerate dollar instability and push more people toward alternative stores of value.7. One genuinely constructive use case for blockchain beyond speculation is immutable accountability, particularly for public institutions and prediction markets. A transparent ledger that governments or officials voluntarily adopt could create verifiable records of decisions and promises, reducing corruption and increasing trust in ways that traditional governance structures have struggled to achieve.

Welcome to Navigating Bitcoin's Noise, the show where we cut through the clutter and bring you the clearest insights on Bitcoin. I'm your host, Kane McGukin, and today I'm joined by Nik Bhatia, author of Layered Money and visiting fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute. In this conversation, we break down Nik's landmark paper on stablecoins and statecraft and why the GENIUS Act may be one of the most strategically important pieces of legislation in decades. We get into how the Eurodollar system quietly exported dollar governance offshore, how stablecoins are designed to bring it back, and why the end of China's deflationary unsystem is forcing America's hand. We ask the question that matters: are stablecoins just a fintech product, or are they America's most powerful tool for our next money layer? If you're tired of hype and want a first-principles breakdown of how dollar dominance actually works, and what the U.S. is building to protect it, this episode is for you.
