This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're back with ONE parent & our returning guest Dr. Ari Brown (Pediatrician + Author of the iconic 411 series) for the SLEEP episode every parents needs! We start with why sleep is SO important (for both kids AND parents), how to create a healthy sleep routine from DAY ONE, and the "sleep crutches" you need to AVOID if possible (s/o to any parent who has been the human Uber to the land of nod hahaha). Then we get into what to ACTUALLY do when your baby/toddler wakes up in the middle of the night and why Dr. Ari likes to refer to “sleep regressions" as PROGRESSIONS (mind blown!!). Plus (random tangent), Dr. Ari's take on melatonin & traveling time zones (the ONE time she'll recommend it). Then, the ideal nap schedule from baby through toddler, and the #1 biggest mistake parents make around sleep (which we 100% have been guilty of). Then we get into some of the tactical stuff: should you EVER give your toddler a bottle before bed? Crib vs. co-sleeping vs. bed sharing (without the shame!), and when to actually transition from crib to bed (spoiler: longer than you think!!). We also break down what an ideal toddler bedtime routine looks like, how screens are impacting your kid's sleep, and how diet & physical activity actually move the needle. Plus, a fun rapid-fire game: COMMON SLEEP ISSUE vs. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR.  Finally, it's not a sleep episode without Dr. Ari's take on sleep training & cry it out (and the protest vs. crying it out distinction that totally clicked for us), and she shares her famous S.L.E.E.P. plan

The American Academy ofPediatrics Safe Sleep recommendations play an important role in preventing these deaths and theABCs of safesleep.""A leading cause of infant mortality in Tennessee is preterm birth. Any infant born earlier than 37weeks gestation is considered preterm and is at higher risk for adverse outcomes, including death.""These are real children and real families, and unfortunately, far too often real tragedies, weneed to all work together to improve infant outcomes for families, communities, and the future ofTennessee." Since the time of it's opening over 100 years ago, Old Yankees Stadium housed the most prolific team in all of American team sport, and some of the games brightest stars. The Yankees did not have an auspicious beginning to their franchise. They were originally nicknamed the Highlanders, and from 1903-1915, they never won a World Series and they had losing seasons in 8 of 13 years. All that changes when the rebranded Yankees buy Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox in 1919. At this time they are sharing the Polo Grounds with their landlord, the New York Giants, and with the star-power of Ruth, they routinely outdraw their inter-city rivals in their own crib. Yankees owner Jacob Rupert realizes that his superstar slugger needs a stadium of his own. After scouting areas throughout New York City, Rupert decides to build his cathedral in the Bronx, just a long fly ball over the Harlem River from the Polo Grounds. After Babe hits the first home-run in Yankees Stadium History in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox, sports writer Fred Lieb dubbed the new structure, The House That Ruth Built; a moniker that would last throughout it's 85 year history. This week we chronicle the construction, history, moments and all the legendary players who called the stadium home, and the indelible mark they left behind in baseball history. #YankeesStadium #TheHouseThatRuthBuilt #JacobRuppert #BabeRuth #JohnMcGraw #DeathValley #FredLieb #GeorgeSteinbrenner #MonumentPark #OldTimersGame #BronxNewYork

How Long 'Til Bedtime?
222. Is It Time to Switch From the Crib to a Bed?

How Long 'Til Bedtime?

Is your toddler suddenly fighting bedtime, waking overnight, or making you question whether the crib is still working? In this episode, Allison breaks down one of the most common (and stressful) questions parents of toddlers face: Is it time to move from the crib to a bed? This question often comes up during moments of panic—sleep regressions, big life changes, or developmental leaps—but the answer isn't always what parents expect. Allison walks through the three most common reasons families consider making the switch and offers an honest, experience-based take on each one. You'll learn why: A sleep regression is rarely a crib problem—and why switching to a bed often makes sleep harder, not easier Daycare cot or mat sleep doesn't automatically mean your child is ready for a bed at home A new baby doesn't have to mean your toddler gives up their crib Climbing out of the crib deserves attention—but doesn't always require an immediate bed transition Allison also shares practical, safety-focused strategies (including sleep sack tips that save many families from transitioning too early), guidance on the ideal age for moving to a bed, and how impulse control plays a major role in successful toddler sleep. If you're trying to decide whether to hold onto the crib a little longer—or you're worried you're "behind"—this episode will help you slow down, reassess, and make a plan that supports both your child's sleep and your own sanity. Allison mentions two of her one hour, $27 workshops that are available when you need them: How To Quickly Recover From A Sleep Regression (15-30 Months) How to Prepare Your Child for a Smooth Crib to Bed Transition Workshop Click here to listen to the episode on YouTube   Looking for expert guidance on your child's sleep?
