Would you want to get medical advise from Dr. Google, Dr. Legislator or Dr. Jean Hausheer, a board certified ophthalmologist? Jean R. Hausheer, MD, FACS Dr. Hausheer practices comprehensive cataract and refractive eye care in Lawton Oklahoma with a predominantly native American, military, and rural patient base as Clinical Professor Dept of Ophthalmology, with the Dean McGee Eye Institute, affiliated with the University of Oklahoma. She also works as Adjunct Clinical Professor of Rural Health with Oklahoma State University Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residency programs in Lawton. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, and Internship and Ophthalmology residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Prior to coming to Oklahoma in 2012, Dr. Hausheer was ophthalmology residency program director at the UMKC Department of Ophthalmology where she achieved the academic rank of Professor. She has served as Executive Editor of the Second and Third Editions of the AAO Basic Techniques in Ophthalmic Surgery textbooks, and in 2018 completed a Master Certificate in Healthcare Management. She is past president of both the Missouri Society of Ophthalmological Surgeons and the Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Hausheer is past president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association, and for two years has served on the Oklahoma Opioid Overdose Fatality Review Commission as appointed by the Oklahoma Attorney General. She is current president of the Great Plains County Medical Society and has served on the Hearts That Care free medical clinic board of directors in Lawton since 2013. Publishing this coming summer, Hausheer has co-authored a book chapter on Ocular Conditions and the Endocannabinoid System for the medical textbook, “Cannabis in Medicine: An Evidence-Based Approach”. Currently Dr. Hausheer serves on the Oklahoma Health Care Authority as board member, and chairs Administrative Rules and serves on Pharmacy Advisory Committees to the board. Since 1994, Dr. Hausheer has served as Oral Board Examiner to the ABO and has also served as written and oral exam writer over the years. Since April 2020, Dr Hausheer has led the Healthier Oklahoma Coalition COVID 19 Task Force which includes leadership from Oklahoma Hospital Association, Oklahoma State Medical Association, Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, Oklahoma Nurses Association, Oklahoma Academy of Pediatrics, and Oklahoma Academy of Family Medicine. Since early December 2020 she has led statewide weekly hour-long press conferences on COVID 19, which are directed towards the public.

Bueno, pues ya estamos aquí de nuevo. Parece que fue ayer cuando nos despedíamos hasta el final del verano y… aquí estamos. Y aquí estamos contentos y felices de poder llegar hasta vuestras casas a través de esta ventana abierta al mundo que es la radio, la radio por internet, claro. Y vamos a retomar las cosas donde las dejamos, en la música, los músicos y sus historias. Hoy nos visitan dos músicos de altura que traen bajo el brazo un disco irrepetible: “The Union”, un trabajo conjunto de Elton John y Leon Russell que salió al mercado en octubre de 2010 y que llegó disparado al puesto número 3 de las listas. Este es su primer corte, If It wasn’t for bad. “Si no fuera por malo”, una canción compuesta por Leon Russell. Elton John y Leon Russell “The Union” If it wasn’t for bad, corte 1 El inglés Elton Hohn lleva 50 años subido a un escenario, y aunque ahora parece que se retira, ha lanzado más de 30 álbumes de estudio y ha vendido más de 300 millones de copias en todo el mundo, siendo uno de los artistas de más éxito en la historia de la música pop. El estilo de Elton John siempre ha sido clasificado como solt rock o glam rock, pero lo cierto es que ha cultivado infinidad de géneros como el country, el disco, el R&B y alguna que otra incursión en las maneras más duras del rock, sobre todo al principio de su carrera, para evolucionar, supongo que por la edad, hacia las baladas románticas, años 1980 y 1991, unas baladas por las que hoy es más conocido. Es curiosa la forma de componer que tiene el tandem formado por Elton John y Berni Taupin, su letrista de cabecera. El método es el siguiente: Bernie escribe un conjunto de letras y se las manda a John. Este se sienta al piano y trabaja con ellas hasta conseguir la música, lo que, según ha dicho, generalmente logra con rapidez. Nunca escriben las canciones juntos. Y funciona, que suerte. Le acompañan su polémica autobiografía “Yo”, así la titula, y el estupendo biopic “Rocketman”, dos productos destinados a revaluar el legado artístico y a rubricar su despedida profesional. A lo largo de la gira cumplirá 73 años. Y, bueno, como a todo bicho viviente, la edad no perdona y la merma de facultades ha llegado al escenario. El año pasado, en mitad de un concierto en Auckland (Nueva Zelanda), el cantante tuvo que parar, y, llorando, confesó que no podía seguir porque había perdido la voz por completo. El diagnóstico oficial es una “neumonía atípica”, ya en proceso de curación, pero que ha conseguido mostrar la vulnerabilidad de una figura tan excéntrica como extraordinaria y que podría precipitar el adiós definitivo de un artista legendario cuya voz parecía inmune al paso del tiempo. Vamos con el tercer corte del disco, Hey ahab, una canción de Elton John. Elton John y Leon Russell “The Union” Hey ahab, corte 3 El que no hará más giras es el compañero de John en este trabajo. Leon Russell, y no las hará porque desgraciadamente falleció en noviembre de 2016, en su casa de Nashville, a los 74 años tras sufrir un infarto. Leon había empezado su carrera musical en Lawton (Oklahoma) formando una banda en la que, por cierto, también estaba un jovencísimo J.J. Cale. Trasladado a los Angeles, entra a formar parte de la “troupe” de músicos de estudio y colaboró con gente como Phil Spector, los Byrds, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Herb Alpert y el mismísimo Frank Sinatra. En 1967 fundó su propio estudio y cambió de imagen: barba, melena y sombreros de copa. De esta guisa, se integró en Delaney & Bonnie, y se inventaron un estilo que llamaron “rock del pantano”, un estilo que no era otro que country sureño. Esta relajada forma de hacer música fascinó a los británicos y, al parecer, influyó estéticamente en estrellas como George Harrison o Eric Clalpton. Vamos a escuchar nuevamente a la pareja en una canción de Elton John, Monkey suit. Cocker, que había grabado ya algunas canciones de Russell, tenía contratadas unas fechas por Estados Unidos pero no tenía banda, así que Russell le solucionó el problema y la gira fue uno de los grandes eventos de 1970, dejando constancia de ello una película y un doble LP. También es verdad que Joe Cocker quedó un poco maltrecho tras la gira por que, según cuentan las crónicas, alli se aplicó con estricta disciplina el principio básico de “sexo, drogas y rock and roll”. A partir de 1970, y con su propio sello, editó discos extraordinarios de otros artistas como Dreddie King o J.J. Cale pero su estrella se apagaba por este alejamiento voluntario del gran público. Nuevamente un inglés sacó a Russell de su letargo. Elton John ya había coincidido con Leon Russell y siempre había declarado su admiración por el torrencial pianístico de Russell, así que, a instancias de Elton, en 2010 grabaron a medias este magnífico The Union. Le duró poco. En 2014 visitó España dando conciertos en los que se evidenciaban sus problemas de salud. Del trabajo de estos grandes artistas nos queda, desde luego, el disco, pero también un documental, que lamentablemente yo no he visto, en el que se muestra la colaboración y fabricación de este excelente trabajo. Por él desfilan personajes como Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Brooker T. Jones, Robert Randolph o Don Was, entre otros. He's a printmaker, musician, an educator, his CV is as long and adventurous as they come. He has been an artist in residence in Shanghai, China, Belgium, Italy, South Africa, and Argentina, and has exhibitions across this country. He received his BFA from Cameron University in Lawton Oklahoma, his MFA in printmaking and photography at Texas Tech University, and is currently the Associate of Arts at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. But what makes John so interesting is his ability to collaborate. He's got his disarming manner to him that draws you to him. Almost everyone I know has interacted with him, and vice versa.
