What do people mean when they say "Christian Nationalism"? Christian nationalism is in the news, but what is it? Nationalism is different from feeling patriotic or making sure to vote every November. Part of what defines nationalism in general is its goal to reserve privileges for only one group in a country that has many groups. Christian nationalism, to be specific, aims for the government to privilege Christians. Dr. Paul D. Miller believes Christian nationalism is a danger to the Church. That's because it makes a Christian's citizenship in a country a higher priority than a Christian's citizenship in God's Kingdom. “If we start to orient our hearts towards America as if it were an ultimate thing, well, that's actually idolatry, and we misunderstand the entire Gospel, as if the Gospel is all about making America great. And that's just not why Jesus came,” Miller says. “He said very clearly, ‘My Kingdom is not of this world.' I'm grateful for America, but it's really important that I don't confuse America for Jesus' Kingdom.” He believes that Christian nationalism not only threatens the Church, but also our democracy. “It is a danger, I think, in a more mild sense of being in tension with the principles of liberty and equality for all citizens, Christian and non-Christian alike.” And while not all Christian nationalists are violent, some are. Those waving Christian symbols and calling on God as they broke into the nation's capitol on January 6, 2021 are an example of the movement's violent minority. “That kind of mixing of religious rhetoric with a violent assault on the citadel of democracy is, I think, clearly dangerous for American democracy,” Miller says. “Again, that's a small minority, but it is there, let's not ignore it.” Miller wants the Church to be aware of the danger of Christian nationalism, even as he points out that it's not the only threat. “This is part of a much bigger conversation. While we've talked about the dangers on the Right, there's dangers on the Left as well.” - - - Dr. Paul D. Miller is Martha's guest for this Inside Out discussion on Christian nationalism. Dr. Miller is a former member of the National Security Council staff who has served as an intelligence analyst for the CIA and as a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army. Currently Dr. Miller is a professor of the practice of international affairs at Georgetown University. Read a more detailed biography of Dr. Paul D. In this episode, we interview psychotherapist Dr. David Martinez, who shares with us what he has found it takes to bring about profound changes in our mental and emotional well being. There's no magic pill. Ultimately, only we can make the changes we desire in our life, but it is possible to use certain tools, including sound, to meaningfully support us in the process. Dr. Martinez shares with us practical tools and practices we can start using today to optimize our own healing journey. Dr. David Perez-Martinez is an Integrative Psychiatrist, Therapeutic Sound Practitioner, researcher and lecturer. Psychosocial Political Dysfunction of the Republican Party by Dr. Daniel BrubakerThe Grand Old Party is no longer the party of Lincoln, even though they refer to Abraham Lincoln continuously. It is apparent that the party has lost its way.But why?In this critical analysis, Dr. Daniel B. Brubaker explores why Republicans have had diffulty distinguishing fact from fiction and why many party leaders contininue to spin conspiracy theories and lies.He examines the neuropsychological development of toddlers and explains why and how some Republicans are acting like children. He concludes some leaders in the Republican Party have antisocial personality disorders. The Republicans frequently direct their fear toward Democrats by calling the other side socialists. This is fearmongering. Today's Republicans do not understand socialism or utilitarianism; they are simply buzzwords used to invoke fear.Join the author as he explores the far-right nationalist agenda of the Republican Party, how it was usurped by a clinically psychopathic president, and what crowd psychology can tell us about how the party has evolved.Republicans for Progress has been initiated by Dr. Daniel Brubaker to release the negative, retrogressive, and oppressive grip of the Republican Party over Americans. The goal of the initiative is to move forward, instead of backward, to compete as a great democracy representative around the world. There is no place for autocracy and fascism in America. We incorporate numerous ideas to continue our democracy, and further compete globally.Dr. Daniel B. Brubaker has spent half his career in academic medicine including the University of Pittsburgh Health Science Center, Oklahoma University Health Science Center, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Departments of Pathology. He has spent the past twenty years in medicine industry, which includes legal and clinical medicine.Dr. Brubaker has been a registered Republican for his entire life, yet he is one of the only truly progressive Republicans. Currently Dr. Brubaker is concerned over the current direction of the Republican Party towards far right nationalism.https://www.amazon.com/Psychosocial-Political-Dysfunction-Republican-Party-ebook/dp/B0B96J69QD/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1676468371&refinements=p_27%3ADr.+Daniel+Brubaker&s=digital-text&sr=1-1&text=Dr.+Daniel+Brubakerhttps://republicans4progress.com/https://wordsmithpressandmedia.com/http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/31623wspm.mp3 http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/31623wspm.mp3

It was a pleasure speaking with these two educated sisters. They have a very connected bond and they are doing what they were called to do in this world. Dr. Elizabeth Rainwater and Dr. Latonya Rainwater are two Atlanta-based entrepreneurs, preachers, and educators. They have a background in psychology and spent years mentoring students in graduate school. They also have a background in ministry that stems from childhood and family roots. Their passion for education is a big part of their journey, which turned into teaching ESL to students in China online for an education center in Florida. In teaching ESL, Dr. Elizabeth, and Dr. Latonya witnessed firsthand just how important it is to not only make certain that students are learning the material taught, but that they are maintaining and expanding on it. While teaching it was clear that every student had different learning styles and that the curriculum needed altering to fit their educational needs. It was not intuition, but it was a tug on the heart, which led both educators and doctors to design their own educational and inspirational products as ELRSHOP. The name ELRSHOP stems from the first initial of Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Latonya's name giving their online shop a special and unique meaning. In the ELRSHOP, you can find affirmation cards, coloring books, math workbooks, a spelling book, a grammar workbook and more. Age is no factor and there is something for everyone. All proceeds earned from each sale helps support their ministry and mission work worldwide. Any way that they can educate and spread the gospel to people is a step in the right direction and helps them fulfill their purpose in life. Currently Dr. Elizabeth Rainwater and Dr. Latonya Rainwater work with Emerge Ministries by helping with steering, planning, education, and training staff for City Wide Crusade Festivals. Nature put a “fat switch” in our bodies. Stuck in the “on” position, it's the hidden source of weight gain, heart disease, and many other common health struggles. But you can turn it off. Dr. Richard Johnson has been on the cutting edge of this research for more than a decade. His team's discovery of the fructose-powered survival switch—a metabolic pathway that animals in nature turn on and off as needed, but that our modern diet has permanently fixed in the on position, becoming a fat switch—revolutionized the way we think about why we gain weight. Dr. Johnson takes you along on an eye-opening investigation into: • What you can do to turn off your fat switch—and what science is working on right now to make doing so easier • What we have in common with hibernating bears, sperm whales, and the world's fattest bird—and what makes us different • How the survival switch works, and which foods other than fructose activate it • The surprising role dehydration plays in fat accumulation • Why uric acid may be the key to fructose's negative health effects • The direct link between the survival switch and health conditions such as metabol- ic syndrome, diabetes, gout, kidney disease, liver disease, stroke, cancer, and more • Early research revealing the connection to addiction, ADHD, and other behavioral disorders Dr. Johnson not only provides new recommendations for how we can prevent or treat obe- sity, but also how we can use this information to reduce our risk of developing disease. Nature wants us to be fat, and when we understand why, we gain the tools we need to lose weight and optimize our health. Check out Nature Wants Us to Be Fat DR. RICHARD JOHNSON is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado and is both a clinician, educator and researcher. He is board certified in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and kidney disease and is the founding editor of Comprehensive Clinical Nephrology, one of the main textbooks on kidney disease. For more than 20 years, he has led research on the cause of obesity and diabetes, with especial interest in the role of sugar (especially fructose) and uric acid. His research has been highly cited, published in top medical journals, and supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health. He is the author of The Sugar Fix and The Fat Switch. His latest work contains state-of-the art discoveries on the cause of obesity and potential cures. Currently Dr. Johnson lives in Colorado with his wife, kids, and two rambunctious puppies. Currently Dr. Jay is the founder and owner of BioSoul Integration Center in Louisville, Colorado. He's a healer/chiropractor, an intuitive online coach and the author of If It Didn't Hurt: How To Resolve Your Pain And Discover Your Life Purpose. For two decades Dr. Jay has been helping people navigate the ups and downs of their healing journeys. Over the course of that time he's worked intimately with nearly three thousand people. Those who seem to be most drawn to Dr. Jay and BioSoul Integration tend to be those who have felt the strong calling to do the work of consciously leaning into their growth and evolution as human beings, to do the work of integrating their Soul's gifts into their physical bodies. Key learnings and takeaways: As a chiropractor and expert in healing Jay's life was rooted in helping find the root causes of issues so he could improve the lives of his patients That focus, while amazing for his work was ironically the source of his suffering when it came to increasing the flow of business in his life He was so trained and conditioned to look for the source of the pain that he kept looking inside himself for things to fix This was causing him to continue to create a “higher resolution problem” of always looking at another aspect to fix It was when I asked him who or what he would be if he didn't need to fix himself that he started to realize there may a whole other person that wasn't so fixated on trying to fix himself Connect with Jay Uecker: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClRjBCVHTDAx8IyDVsBPV-g https://www.facebook.com/biosoulintegration https://www.linkedin.com/in/biosoulintegration/ https://twitter.com/biosoulcenter https://www.pinterest.com/biosoulintegration/

When you think of therapy in a traditional sense, what comes to mind? Television shows, movies, and comics love to paint a stereotypical scene: a bespectacled therapist asks poignant questions and jots down notes on a legal pad; meanwhile, the patient reclines on a sofa and spills their thoughts and emotions into the void of the room. It might be easy to assume that therapy has always involved a person-to-person conversation, but in her new book The Distance Cure, scholar and author Hannah Zeavin invited us to consider definitions of psychotherapy that extend far beyond people talking in a room. In The Distance Cure, Zeavin described less conventional operations of therapy that include Freud's treatments by mail, advice columns, radio shows, crisis hotlines, video, computers, and mobile phones. Across all formats, “therapists” vary widely in background and credentials; some may be professionally trained, while others are strangers or even chatbots. Is any method better than the other? Zeavin urged us to think beyond the traditional dyad of therapist and patient and consider the triad of therapist, patient, and communication technology. By tracing the history of teletherapy right up to its now-routine application in pandemic therapy sessions, Zeavin reminded us that as our world changes and advances in communication technology continue to expand, so will our definitions of what it means to connect. In a virtual presentation, Psychologist Margaret Morris interviewed Hannah Zeavin about her new book and the intimacy that is possible in remote communication. They are joined by Dr. Orna Guralnik, a clinical psychologist featured on Showtime's Couples Therapy, who shared insights about therapy and connection during the pandemic. Hannah Zeavin is a Lecturer in the Departments of English and History at the University of California, Berkeley, and is affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley, Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society. She is a Visiting Fellow at Columbia University's Center for Social Difference and Editorial Associate at The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in American Imago, differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Real Life Magazine, Slate, and elsewhere. Dr. Margaret Morris is a clinical psychologist focused on how technology can support wellbeing. She is an affiliate faculty member in the Information School at the University of Washington, as well as a research consultant. Morris is the author of Left to Our Own Devices: Outsmarting Smart Technology to Reclaim Our Relationships, Health and Focus. Dr. Orna Guralnik is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst practicing and teaching in New York City. Currently Dr. Guralnik lectures and publishes on the topics of couples treatment and culture, dissociation and depersonalization, and culture and psychoanalysis. She begins by sharing that delta-8 is a minor cannabinoid which exists naturally in small quantities within cannabis and hemp. Delta-8 THC is chemically very similar to delta-9 THC—the primary cannabinoid within cannabis which is known for its mind-altering and medicinal properties—and in fact, delta-9 naturally degrades into delta-8 under certain conditions. Due to the structural similarities, delta-8 produces similar effects to delta-9, and may have similar medical applications. Dr. Clark mentions that delta-8 may be synthesized from CBD, allowing for this compound to be readily produced from legal components. However, the delta-8 which results from these synthesis methods contains traces of unknown compounds, perhaps as a result of the particular solvents used in the reaction, so Dr. Clark cautions that consuming these products could have certain risks, though the delta-8 cannabinoid itself is thought to have a similar safety profile to delta-9 THC. Instead. Dr. Clark emphasizes that whole plant medicines are likely the ideal for patients seeking to treat medical conditions with cannabis, but since delta-8 may be more readily available in certain areas due to its murky legal status it may be the best option for some individuals. While scientific research into delta-8 is currently lacking, Dr. Clark shares the results from a few studies which use animal models and one study looking at the effects of delta-8 in the context of pediatric oncology. In addition to these published studies, Dr. Clark also shares anecdotal reports from patients, saying that these experiences are crucial, preferring to think of these reports as qualitative data which has yet to be systematically studied. In this episode: What delta-8 THC is and how it is made Potential safety concerns with delta-8 products The current research on delta-8 The legal grey-area of delta-8 THC and states which have banned the cannabinoid Differences in the doses and effects of delta-8 and delta-9 THC Quotes: “My hope as well is that people who are able to access whole-plant medicine can really use whole-plant medicine safely and effectively and they have access to safe, effective medicines. That would be my recommendation—if somebody had a choice—over choosing a really synthesized medicine at this point because of the safety issues.” [15:30] “[T]there's still very little research and most of the patient experience we're hearing is really anecdotal.” [24:52] Links: Dr. Clark's faculty page at Pacific College of Health and Science Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui

On the #49th Episode of Chase The Vase, I needed a re-due, another crack at Derek Price. Derek was my first guest on Chase The Vase and I wanted to tap into the mental aspect of his game. Derek earned a scholarship to the University of Iowa and followed by a career in the NFL to play for the Detroit Lions. Derek wasted no time post NFL departure getting his life on a new track and promptly enrolled into Life University College of Chiropractic. He found a program called SEALFIT while in conversation with other SEALs. He enrolled in a Navy SEAL Hell Week administered by current and former SEALS. Selected Honor Man of Class 17, he was awarded an entry intern position with the SEALFIT team. He was one of a very small population of Certified SEALFIT Kokoro Coaches that administers SEALFIT camps around the world. Some notable SEALFIT coaching pursuits include University of South Alabama, St. John Bosco High School, Nike, and multiple Law enforcement groups. Derek has served as Sr. Cadre for more than 20 HELL WEEK simulations with the SEALFIT group. Dr. Price has built a large CrossFit Competition event production group and has held benefit events throughout the years for numerous causes to include Autism Awareness, Juvenile Diabetes, Women's Health, Pediatric Cancer and many others. Currently Dr. Price owns and operates a beautiful Sports Orthopedic Medical Clinic complete with numerous specialties. He still finds time to train daily with his friends and family and to prepare for his personal endurance and functional fitness such as Ironman Triathlons, CrossFit Competitions and Alcatraz Open water swim races. Derek is a leader in the area of mental health and mental toughness. He leads men in all aspects of his life and trains men and women on how to develop leadership and mental toughness. "An Athletic Trainer's Guide to Understanding Chiropractors - a conversATion with Kevin Vieser, DC, ATC" There is no doubting the value that exists in intraprofessional collaboration. It is unfortunate that often there is "headbutting" which occurs between athletic trainers and chiropractors, and the most likely reason is a lack of understanding of what each side brings to the table. What better way to dive deep into understanding the world of chiropractic care than to speak with a dual-credentialed athletic trainer and chiropractor Kevin Vieser, DC, ATC. Dr. Kevin combines his life-long love for athletics and his passion for helping others into his profession as a Chiropractor and Certified Athletic Trainer. It was during his undergraduate years as an Athletic Training student at Springfield College where he witnessed the impact chiropractic care made on the recovery process of any injury that inspired him to want to do the same for the people he treated. Upon graduation from Springfield College, Dr. Kevin moved to the west coast to begin his studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic - West Campus in San Jose, CA. Not only did he succeed academically, he augmented his education with a wide range of professional experiences as a Certified Athletic Trainer, from youth athletes to Olympians while attending advanced extremity manipulation seminars nationwide. Currently Dr. Kev has his own practice in New Jersey, where his mission is simple: to provide the best care possible, to make it accessible, and to give patients the confidence in their ability to heal. Dr. Ali Marty is a Physical Therapist and President of Mobile Physical Therapy in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada. When she moved to Las Vegas in 2016 she worked for a private outpatient orthopedic clinic and quickly realized this clinic was different than what she was used to: many patients to a single provider, not enough support staff and over worked colleagues. Because of this in 2018 she opened Mobile Physical Therapy to provide convenient in-home physical therapy sessions to clients in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV. In 2020 she became a participating provider with Medicare Part B to be able to serve a clientele that she greatly enjoyed treating and had been missing: joint replacements. Currently Dr. Ali, PT provides in-home and telehealth visits for her clients who have shoulder, ankle and knee injuries and those who are planning to have or have had joint replacement surgeries. Typically her clients are self-pay, and a few use Medicare Part B for payment. When she isn't working on her physical therapy business you can find with her husband, Royal and their Wheaten Terrier Levi.
