The mother of  5-year-old Georgia boy, Cairo Ammar Jordan, found dead in a suitcase in Indiana, is still on the run more than a year after the child was found.. His mother, Dejuane Ludie, accused in his death, is still at large.  Investigators say the little boy died from an electrolyte imbalance. The medical examiner says that the imbalance was most likely due to a “viral gastroenteritis” caused by excessive vomiting or diarrhea. Toxicology tests came back negative and the boy had no severe injuries. Police do not believe the boy was alive when he was placed inside the suitcase.  A mushroom hunter found the hardshell suitcase, which features the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. The boy's mother posted online that she believed the child was really a 100-year-old demon. Another suspect, 40-year-old Dawn Elaine Coleman of Shreveport, Louisiana, who had  been traveling with mother  Dejaune Ludie Anderson was arrested and convicted. She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in Cairo's death. She has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, with five years of that sentence suspended to probation.  TIPLINE:  Indiana State Police (888) 437-6432 (within Indiana) or Detective Matt Busick, Indiana State Police in Sellersburg (812) 248-4374 or (800) 872-6743 Joining Nancy Grace Today: Steve Kramer - Former FBI Attorney and Federal Prosecutor, President: Indago Solutions, Indago.ai, Led the team that identified the Golden State Killer, Co-Founder of the FBI's Forensic Genetic Genealogy (FGG) Program Dr. Thomas Plante - The Augustin Cardinal Bea, S.J., Professor of Psychology and Religious Studies, Santa Clara University; Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine;  Editor, Spirituality in Clinical Practice;  Author: " Human Interaction with the Divine, the Sacred, and the Deceased: Psychological, Scientific, and Theological Perspectives." The idea of staying fit, young and healthy for longer, is something many of us would love to achieve, but just how possible is it? Dr Robert Lufkin, who has a particular research interest in the  science of longevity discusses the reality. He says the aim is not to live forever, or live longer when we are frail and ill, but to lengthen our healthy lifespan. When we age, the odds of us getting a range of degenerative diseases or life threatening illnesses increase, so the science of anti-aging is really all about discovering why this happens and what we can do to slow or stop these pathways. Lufkin reveals the role that he believes lifestyle, diet and exercise can play. And goes on to review drugs such as Rapamyzin that some people, including him, are now taking in the hope they can keep their bodies healthier for longer. So exactly what is the evidence that we can stave off the perils of aging? Dr Robert Lufkin is currently Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology at the USC Keck School of Medicine. He is also Chief of Metabolic Imaging at a large medical network in southern California. Previously, Rob has been president of the society of magnetic resonance imaging, president of the American society of head and neck radiology. In addition to being a practicing physician, he is author of over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers and 14 books. A 5-year-old Georgia boy, Cairo Ammar Jordan, found dead in a suitcase in Indiana laid to rest. His mother, Dejuane Ludie accused in his death, but she is still at large.  Indiana police say another suspect, 40-year-old Dawn Elaine Coleman of Shreveport, Louisiana, is in custody. This has been a very disruptive period in our recent history and community pharmacists across the land have been thrust to the fore. The public-facing side of community pharmacy has remained resolute but we know that behind the scenes everyone in the sector is tired. Despite this heroic effort and undoubted fatigue, we hope you can join us as we begin to look to the future specifically in the area of community pharmacy training. This podcast marks the beginning of a series where we discuss the current reality of community pharmacy training, vaccination services and autonomous working in the UK, what possibly needs to change and what future models might look like. We are hoping to start a conversation about what we have come to expect as 'normal' in terms of community pharmacy training and associated career progression. The response to COVID-19 across the world has involved lockdowns in order to "flatten the curve" of cases and deaths. This public health response was initially based on inaccurate estimates of infection mortality rates and high-risk groups, overestimating the threat from COVID-19. In addition, the response did not consider many unintended effects of lockdowns on population well-being, including so-called collateral damage (for example, unemployment, loneliness, interrupted healthcare, interrupted education), and economic recession. Recently, debate has framed decisions as a trade-off between "lives and the economy", but the speaker will argue that this could be a false dichotomy, because the economy is about lives and a cost-benefit analysis of lockdowns shows that they cause more harm than benefit in terms of population well-being and deaths. Speaker: Dr. Ari Joffe Ari Joffe MD is a pediatrician who specialized in pediatric infectious diseases and critical care medicine. He has practiced as a pediatric intensive care physician since 1995 at Stollery Children's Hospital, and is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. Welcome to our podcast Dr. Patel of Southshore dental in Trenton, MI. It was so fun talking digital technology with Dr. Patel. We went over his WHY for becoming a dentist. Also, he explained to me his favorite pieces of technology he uses in his practice. Dr. Patel earned his undergraduate degree in biology and physiology from Michigan State University, then attended the University of Michigan Dental School, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. While completing his doctorate at the University of Michigan, he received the Comprehensive Care Award for excellence in patient care. Dr. Patel continued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he completed a two-year post-graduate implant surgery course. Dr. Patel's training includes experience with some of the leading professionals in his field, including extensive cosmetics training. He takes more than twice the required continuing education required to maintain licensure. Dr. Patel also sits on the Michigan Dental Association board of membership and participates in several charitable dental organizations. His goal is to provide the latest and most advanced procedures using modern materials and the most current technology. Recently he has joined the University of Michigan School of Dentistry as an Adjunct Clinical Professor. Dr. Patel enjoys sports, reading, scuba diving, and being with his family. He also is involved in non-profit dental organizations, including "Christina's smile," which provides free dental care for underprivileged children. *Key Questions* 1. Diamond in the Ruff: what product did you buy that no one seems to know about that has been a big advantage to your practice? * Dr. Patel enjoys his 3D Cone Beam for helping him with Implants https://www.vatech.com/product_3d/312 2.No-Risk | No-Reward: What was your big investment of time or money in technology that paid off. * Using Dental Intelligence has been a major game-changer for himself and his team. Helping simplify collecting important data. https://www.dentalintel.com/ 3. The Flop: What did you buy into that was a waste of time and money? * CAD / CAM system. Not using as much as anticipated and has slowed his process down a bit in his practice. Make sure to visit Dr. Patel if you're in the Trenton, MI area! I am live at the Seattle Study Club Symposium Legacy Tour with Bill Robbins and Bob Margeas. They are both great dentists and amazing educators. Dr. Robbins has a full-time practice and is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at San Antonio Dental School. He has also authored two textbooks. Dr. Margeas is known as the dentists dentist. He also has a private practice, and he believes in dentistry built on relationships, honesty, and trust. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa and has written numerous articles on esthetic and implant dentistry. The three of us have a great conversation about the symposium, the importance of mentors, communication, and the extremely bright future of dentistry.   You can find Bill and Bob here: http://www.beckelrobbinsdds.com/ (Bill Robbins) http://www.iowadentalgroup.com/ (Bob Margeas)   Show Notes [02:09] Bill Robbins is a restorative dentist in San Antonio, Texas. [02:30] Bob Margeas has a full-time practice in Des Moines, Iowa. He has been practicing for 32 years. [03:21] Bill thinks the legacy tour is an interesting program because there are amazing lecturers. The content has been leaning towards the heart side of dentistry. [04:20] The people here are our mentors. The ones we grew up looking at. It's almost surreal to be on the stage with them. [04:46] It's important to be a continual student. You can't think that you know everything. [05:26] Bill likes to go to study clubs and get his CE in small doses. [06:19] How going to the Seattle Study Club is like going to a big family reunion. [07:27] There has never been a more exciting time to be a dentist especially with airway and other things going on with orthodontics. [08:08] What orthodontists can do today actually allows us to do less dentistry. [08:18] We can be conservative and think about what's right for the patient. [09:36] Using bonding and minimally invasive dentistry. [10:32] How are thinking gets challenged. It's not just the technology but it's also the thinking. [10:58] The implications of the ortho and restorative interface. We can now intrude posterior teeth. [13:38] Simple high-quality restorative and telling the truth really works. [14:29] How the patients decide when they want the crown done. Don't biopsy a patient's wallet. [15:46] Diagnosis is neutral. Sometimes when we try not to overwhelm a patient, we actually underwhelm them. [16:19] The importance of communication and how leaders aren't born they are created. [17:09] The importance of spending your CE money on leadership training and communication skills. [18:00] Getting into the arena with the best thinkers and not getting overwhelmed. [18:25] How young dentists are overwhelmed with debt and having to pay off student loans or a house or a car.  You also need to communicate. You're already in debt, so you might as well spend money learning how to communicate. [18:46] The importance of finding a mentor to help you and guide you. [19:36] How bill has an amazing gift for breaking things down. [20:29] When people spend their whole lives writing a book it's worth it to pick it up. [21:16] The smartest way for a young dentist to get their CE credits is to join a study club. A study club is also the best place to find a mentor. [22:45] There are no limitations on how well you think. [23:50] Using the systematic approach to look at more complex problems. Treatment planning in a study club will force people to think. [25:49] Everyday dentistry and how popular Bob Margeas is in the Seattle Study Club circuit. [27:28] How the whole key is to share knowledge. There is really no competition. [27:59] How teaching is actually enjoyable. [28:16] When you are looking at smiles it's the eyes that smile. When you get that perfect video it's all about the eyes. [29:29] The greatest gift to being a teacher is when one of your students becomes your teacher. [30:55] The most frustrating thing is...
