I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Michelle Pualani and Joanna Newton on the Her First podcast, and I'm sharing the episode here on the Embody Your Brand podcast! Her First is a podcast to help online business owners, coaches, and creators gain the confidence needed to build a successful business while creating sustainable lifestyle balance. So, when Michelle invited me to be a guest on the show to speak about personal branding, pivoting / expanding, and prioritizing myself in business in life — it was an immediate “Yes!” Throughout our chat, we talk through the emotional landscape entrepreneurs must navigate, from the fears that accompany branding to the inevitable imposter syndrome. We delve into the strategies that fortify a brand, discussing how pivoting can be an opportunity to level up and how embracing change is fundamental to staying true to one's vision. Our conversation serves as a reassurance that stepping through fear and self-doubt is an integral part of growing a brand that resonates and endures. — WORK WITH JESSIE 1:1: Click here to schedule a clarity call with me. — GET THE BRAND ATTRACTION BLUEPRINT: Discover the EXACT step-by-step blueprint my clients are using to create magnetic personal brands that attract more aligned leads, book out their services, and get on the path to consistent $10k months (and beyond!) — https://www.jessie-christensen.com/blueprint — To connect with Jessie: Instagram: @jessie__christensen Email: hello@jessie-christensen.com Website: jessie-christensen.com LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jessieachristensen Pinterest: pinterest.com/jessie_christensen/_saved — To connect with Michelle & Joanna: Join The Her First Collective: www.facebook.com/groups/herfirstcollective/ Hang with Us on Social: @themichellepualani | @joanna_atwork Work with Michelle: https://michellepualani.com/work-with-me Work with Joanna: Reach out to joanna@millennialmktr.com

If you've ever wondered if it's possible to monetize your content with a smaller audience while still working full-time, you'll want to listen to this week's Beyond Influential.  Julia Lynch (aka @smarterinasec) is a content creator and lifelong nerd who has always been passionate about learning something new every day. In early 2020, she began sharing content on Instagram & TikTok about her favorite daily reads & podcast picks, as well as tips to succeed at work inspired by her time in business school and her day job as a strategy consultant. Since then, she has built an engaged following using her two platforms and has been side hustling as a social media consultant and a micro influencer for a variety of brands. I particularly thought it was important to do this interview because it's very common for people to think everyone online is making their living by creating social content, when that's not the case at all. This episode is a look behind the scenes of an up-and-coming influencer who is still in the process of transitioning away from her 9 to 5 but is already working with brands and making a name for herself. On Ep. 160, we cover: How content creation has become Julia's side hustle and the gateway to other opportunities while still working in a “traditional”  business role  How business school has helped her as a content creator Why she created Smarter in a Sec and the gap in the market she wanted to fill Content creation: How Julia plans her content, her posting frequency on different platforms, and how she balances it with a full-time job The difference between her audience on Instagram vs. TikTok Brand deal & monetization transparency: how much she makes from brand deals & her biggest brand deal to date How she's been finding success with a small audience as a micro influencer, how she strategically builds her network, and more!   Don't want to miss an episode (or valuable free resources!)? This is the Season 1 finale for Making Good Spaghetti... We'll be back when the time is right. Back in November of 2019 in episode 32, we covered 3 unsolved murder cases around the New England area and the 2nd one we discussed was the case of Karen Marchioni. Episode 44 Karen Marchioni’s Unsolved Murder We will be doing a follow up on an unsolved murder case that we covered back in episode 32. In it, we talked about 3 cold murder cases, from around the New England area. In episode 32, Karen Marchioni’s case was the 2nd one that we talked about. Since we recorded that episode, I’ve looked a little deeper into it and found some more information than I was able to give in that episode, so for this episode we’ll cover the case and what happened, and also the new information that we read. Karen Marchioni's Case l October 8th, 2001. 2 days after her 41st birthday, Karen Marchioni is attacked in her Framingham, MA home, she is able to lock herself into the bathroom and is able+ to call 911 and alert them to her situation. l When the police arrived at her apartment, they found her lying on the ground with many stab wounds to her neck and face. n She was rushed to the nearest hospital but was announced dead before she was able to give the police any information about her killer, or killers. l At the time of her death, Karen was on her 2nd marriage. l Her First husband, Steven Case said he had talked to Karen the day before her death and said she told him that she was scared. He said she looked nervous but wouldn't tell him exactly why. l It’s said that her upstairs neighbor had spotted 3 men in their backyard the night before her murder. Apparently, her 2nd husband wasn’t the nicest guy. At the time of her murder, Steve Henderson was in prison for assaulting and violating a restraining order. He had a history with substance abuse problems. l Steve died in 2018 in a rehab facility. As of 2016, the Middlesex District Attorney said they were still investigating the cold case… l In a Statement to Fox25, they said "After 15 years, our office remains committed to solving the murder of Karen Marchioni Henderson and to bringing closure to the victim s family and loved ones. While we have made progress, this remains an open investigation,” At least 1 person of interest was made for the case, but no arrests were made as result. I've only found 1 other name of interest, a man named Arron Sutton, in a 2005 Boston Herald article by Norman Miller, he says that he wasn't charged with the murder, but the police say he was a suspect but, would not give any more details. In that article, it says quote, “ A homeless man wanted for kidnapping and trying to kill his girlfriend last week is now the prime suspect in a grisly 2001 murder, Framingham police said.” obviously, nothing has come of that since. l After looking a little deeper into Arron Sutton, I saw he has been arrested in 2011 for having a fugitive warrant on him. l In 2013, he was arrested for 2 counts of assault and battery and shoplifting over the amount of $100 u In 2016, he was arrested on 2 counts of distributing heroin. l In 2017 he was arrested on a warrant l In 2018 he was arrested for outside warrants. Each time he's been arrested it's listed that he is homeless. You can find more information on www.l8nitegames.com on the Making Good Spaghetti page under episode 44.

Have you been hoping for something to keep your mind off this whole Global Pandemic business? Well, then do we have something for you! For Episode 30 of the Nebraska Wedding Podcast, Kelly sits down with Karly Jurgensen of Karlyn Music to discuss all of the unexpected ways music plays in to the big day.  Fun fact, “Karlyn” is actually Karly’s full name – which, of course, explains her business’ name.  She’s been playing the piano since she was 8 years old, and decided pretty early on she hoped to make a career of music. She attended Berkeley College of Music  in Boston, where she received a Bachelor of Music with a major in Songwriting. ( So YES – she totally knows what she’s doing.) After college she moved to NYC where she was part of the big city grind… until she met a Nebraska boy that swept her off her feet. The rest is history! (Some pretty cool history that includes a national TV appearance and subsequent musical career with Mannheim Steamroller (1:50) ) Once in Nebraska, Karly realized there was a legitimate lack of customized music in the wedding industry… one SHE wanted to fill. She now does 50 to 75 weddings in the Nebraska and Iowa areas per year. (2:50) Karly talks about the challenges of running a business while raising two very young children (8:00) and as we usually do around here, she reveals three things her clients may not know about her. (Her FIRST fact involves hanging out Billy Joel and Don Henley. Yeah, really.) Karly dives in to what questions she wishes brides and grooms were asking when booking her services, (11:49) as well as unique ways they can incorporate customized music into their big days. (15:40) She talks through some of the really cool stuff she can put together for both the reception and ceremony, and honestly, we’re shocked we haven’t heard more of this. It’s genius. (17:30) She also goes over what kind of music is best during which parts of your wedding, and how to determine what equipment is needed (because you want your guests to actually hear the vows you worked so hard on!) She also discusses some amazing ideas about incorporating your favorite songs in an entirely unique way you may not have ever thought of! You can find out more about Karly’s work, as well as listen to her absolutely stunning arrangements at Karlynmusic.com, on Instagram @Karlynmusic, or on Facebook.

On the show today we welcome Tori Dunlap of “Her First 100k”. Tori is a financial advocate who educates millennial women and other underserved communities on financial literacy. She’s on track to save her first 100k by before her 26th birthday and has made it her mission to help others pay off debt, save, invest and get their money right so they can be in the driver seat of their life.                                                                                       Her father taught her about money from the age of 9 when he helped her start her first company, a vending machine business. It was this experience that kick started her savings account and her entrepreneurial drive. Some years later, after getting her college degree she began to see her female friends get paid less than their male counterparts and miss out on career opportunities because of being female. She knew she had to fight back.   In this episode Tori talks to us about her financial upbringing, her business, her financial philosophies and her passion for disrupting the current financial ecosystem that is overwhelmingly dominated by older, straight, white males.   Highlights: Owning 15 vending machines by the end of high school Growing up with privilege Take that loose change to the bank, avoid Coinstar machines A crash course in marketing after landing a huge job outside of college Becoming a financial advocate for the underserved Landing a job when you don’t meet the requirements The relationship between privilege and money Getting ahead financially in a system that wasn’t built for you The guilt and shame surrounding money Priority based spending Automating your savings Not getting credit for your success   Key Takeaway: A lot of the current financial guru’s aren’t in touch with the financial issues of the millennial generation. It’s our job to make our voice heard and disrupt their antiquated financial advice.   Paychecks & Balances Websites: https://paychecksandbalances.com/ https://www.patreon.com/paybalances Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paybalances/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/paybalances?lang=en   Tori Dunlap: Website: https://www.herfirst100k.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/herfirst100K/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/herfirst100k/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/herfirst100k LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/toridunlap/

Hi friend, I hope you are having a most awesome day. Today I want to share a special story with you. My guest on this podcast is AJ Miller. She is a Boot Camp Challenge® (BCC) trainer and BCC Master Trainer. She is also the daughter of a Vietnam veteran who passed last year. What AJ did not know was her father had left behind a journal, a memoir.  After trying several times to read the memoir, and failing, she decided to return to Vietnam and retrace her father’s footsteps. Her purpose is to unveil her fathers’ story and share his memoirs right where they happened.  She has only been able to make it through one entry so far but it was a big one. In it he talked about flying his chopper, thoughts of suicide, how he felt he never really came home and what his job was in the US Army during the war – he was a Scout. And, according to him, a killer. It was the last line that caused AJ to freeze.  Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. She’ll explain in the podcast what happened next, and let’s just say, shocked is an understatement. As AJ continues traveling across this country and visiting places her father stayed, she is trying to understand her father.  How did he live with such cruel and unimaginable memories? How did he appear to function in society after the war?  How did he manage his undiagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)? AJ also shares the following: - Her FIRST reaction when learning her father was a killer. - Meeting a Viet Cong soldier who fought against her father in a coffee shop. - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) – what it really looks like. - How she compares Vietnam and fitness. AJ also shares some stories about war that may be difficult for you to hear. If this topic is a trigger or draws you to a place of darkness, best you skip this podcast and we will catch you in a few weeks when our next one drops. We get quite emotional and the language, quite real. In fact, it may be offensive to some.   Please take all of this into consideration before listening.  There are lots of components of the wellness wheel.  While we usually focus on the fitness and nutrition components, today, we focus on the emotional.   In AJ’S word’s, this was boot camp for the soul. If you reach one person with your message from what you have written, you know you have achieved the goal you personally set out to do.For all of you who have taken me out of your busy day to read through the pages of these books, I extend a gracious thank you. I hope that they have been blessings to you and have allowed you to release everything that has held you back from accomplishing your hopes and dreams in life. Peace and love to you all."~Teresa M.
