At Jesus Fee, by Collette Pekar
The pace of our exterior lives is merely a reflection of our hurried souls…but Jesus offers a different way of life! Pastor Jeremy Treat continues our Good News for All series with a sermon from Luke 10:38-42.
Have you ever had an unmet expectation? This is usually caused by unrealistic or uncommunicated expectations. When we invite people over to our houses for a meal, we hope things will go a certain way. But an invitation to the table is not an invitation for others to be more like us. It's an invitation to encounter Jesus. We can set the environment, but only prayer can set the atmosphere. Are we willing to be vulnerable and to shed our expectations so others can taste eternity by Jesus speaking through us?
A sermon looking at the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42), approaching it as being about what takes us away from what is important, rather than listening to Jesus being more important that offering hospitality. What might be the real things for us, and what distracts us?You can read the notes for this sermon here

Jeff Maness – January 24, 2021 The solution to our busy and hurried lives is not more time. We often think it is, but it’s not. Just based on how we already live, if we had more time, we’d probably fill it up with more to do. So, the solution to hurry is not more...
Most of us are not good at resting! We wear our busyness like a badge and wear ourselves out! Dive into this weeks topic of rest with Erin as she shares the meaning of true rest in God and what we receive as we sit at His feet.
Distraction in our Christian life is something to avoid. Learning from the account of Martha and Mary will help shed light on learning to sit and listen. We will see real change and have hope for our walk in the process!

Week 3 of "Living the Dream"
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Studies have found that older people are generally in more of a hurry than younger people. And that if you drive in a hurry, you will save a whopping 26 seconds a day. I think if Jesus was standing before us today, one of the first things He would tell us would be: slow down. Click here to download the sermon outline Visit our webpage to learn more about us!

We live in a world of constant and continual distractions. In this sermon we find ourselves dining with Jesus at Martha and Mary's home. Martha is greatly distracted by all that needs to be done and misses the true value and importance of having Jesus in her life. How can we avoid such distractions in our own lives?

Rebroadcast of the long-running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour," a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org This week’s broadcast is a dramatization of the Gospel stories written in Luke 10:38-42, John 11:1-53, and John 12:1-9. It is a beautiful retelling of the Lord’s impact on the lives of Martha of Bethany, her sister Mary Magdalene, and her brother Lazarus, a family whose faith and love for "the Prophet from Nazareth" impacted their lives in remarkable ways. St. Martha’s feast day is July 29.
