Dr. Charles Blackstock teaches us how God became a man to experience our suffering.
Series: N/AService: Sunday AMType: SermonSpeaker: Terry SlackWithin each of us lies a desire to see justice done, and to deny such feelings doesn’t make them go away. Truth is, expressing our anger to God in regard to injustice is not only good therapy, it’s also good theology. This is borne out in this song of David as he feels himself drowning in a sea of trouble in spite of being innocent. But David’s words are also prophetic—foreshadowing the experiences of Jesus.

Isaiah points to the coming Messiah as the suffering servant. This Messiah shall come and bring salvation and heal many through his sacrifice and death. In this passage, we will see not only the merciful salvation that we have received, but also our Lord who fully identified with all our pain, brokenness, and suffering as he was crushed on our behalf.

The Deaths of Rachel and Isaac 16 Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance[f] from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor. 17 And when her labor was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.” 18 And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), […]
As the day of Christ's death drew near, His burden for Jerusalem grew heavy in His heart. But Jesus was not the only man to weep over Jerusalem, for there was a man whom God used to send His final message of judgment to the people of Judah.

Isaiah 52:13-53:7 is a poignant passage often referred to as the "Suffering Servant" passage. It depicts a figure who suffers unjustly, bearing the sins of others yet ultimately bringing redemption and salvation. It's a prophetic portrayal of Jesus Christ's sacrificial death on the cross – It can be the Messiah or no one else.IF YOU MARK IN YOUR BIBLE PODCASTWebsite: www.iymiyb.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/iymiybInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/iymiyb/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@iymiyb?sub_confirmation=1 Email: josh@biblemarkings.comTHE SCATTERED ABROAD NETWORKEmail: san@msop.orgWebsite: https://scatteredabroad.org/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sapodcastnetworkInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_scattered_abroad_network/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thescatteredabroadnetwork6883?sub_confirmation=1 #IYMIYB #ScatteredAbroadNetwork #ScatteredAbroad #Biblestudy #SubscribeNow #BibleMarking #SufferingServant #RedemptionThroughSacrifice #MessiahForetold #SubstitutionaryAtonement #DivineJustice

Isaiah 53:1-3
Homily from Good Friday. Jesus won the world in His weakness. We would like for our Lord to be triumphant in His conquering of sin and death. But the people around Him as He saved the world were largely ignorant, indifferent, or antagonistic. Yet, Jesus won the world through His wounds. As the melodies of Easter ring through the air, we welcome you to a season marked by reflection and song. Join me, Andy Peavyhouse, as we uncover the story and enduring impact of Philip P. Bliss's "Man of Sorrows, What a Name!" A hymn that weaves a timeless narrative of Christ's journey from sorrow to joy. This episode is not just an exploration, but a heartfelt thanksgiving, an offering to the shared spirit that resonates within each verse of this priceless hymn. Together, we'll celebrate the life of Bliss, whose humble beginnings and innate musical talent led to some of the most influential hymns in Christian worship, including his work with Horatio Spafford on "It is Well with My Soul."Feel the depth of Jesus' sacrifice anew, as we traverse the theological landscape painted by "Man of Sorrows." Inspired by the words drawn from Isaiah 53, this hymn invites believers to contemplate the dual nature of Christ, his role as the sacrificial lamb, and the transformative grace of his atonement. We'll explore the rich symbolism Bliss employed to connect Old and New Testament teachings, revealing the promised salvation that comes only through Jesus Christ. Embrace this opportunity to deepen your understanding of a hymn that has comforted and inspired generations, as we honor the legacy left by a man whose music speaks of a Man of Sorrow but rings of a Savior who brings eternal notes of joy.SHOW NOTES:"Man of Sorrows" performed by Nathan Drake of Reawaken Hymns with chord charts and many other church music resources."Man of Sorrows" appears on the album Hymns of the Son available here.Support the show www.thebrightforever.comAll songs used by permission.

Man of Sorrows: The Suffering Of God by LaGrave Church
SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 2:18-25SHOW NOTES: Walt and I appreciate the ministry of The Awakening Worldwide. Three years ago, our weekly podcast, Walk with God, began, and there are now listeners in 60 countries. The Lord continues to bless this outreach, and it exists to encourage and strengthen believers with God's Word. We invite you to visit and subscribe to our new ministry website – Discover God's Truth. Peter encourages his readers to “live as people who are free … living as servants of God.” Show honor to everyone. Honor God. “Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.”1 Peter 2:18He distinguishes between justifiable suffering and unjustifiable suffering. Some suffering is a result of wrongdoing and results in deserved punishment. You endure this discipline, but you don't get credit. However, suffering when you have done right is gracious in the sight of God and follows Jesus' footsteps. Jesus committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. Isaiah 53:6-7 Because of Jesus' sacrificial death, we can experience a profound change in our lives. Believers, return to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls!
