Let's talk about time and its pressure-inducing nature. Time can often clash with our priorities, and how we choose to organize the events in our lives depends on our mindset and approach towards life. To achieve our goals and attain prosperity, we need to figure out the mindset and lifestyle that work best for us. Although the answer to this is different for everyone, it is intended to bring us closer to the idea of collective excellence. Building new habits and changing our lifestyle can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on how ingrained the behavior is that we wish to change. Matthew Silva, a former United States Marine Corps veteran, served his country with dedication. When the government started getting unreliable due to Covid, he left the service. He wasn't sure how to be successful, so he worked as a bouncer at a nightclub for a year. However, when his father was diagnosed with ALS, he realized that family was the most important thing. So, he moved to Florida to be with his parents and reset his mindset by reading books and seeking wisdom. He found his passion in helping others through loss (as his father passed away five months ago) and through fitness and mindset shift. He joined me this week to discuss his story. If you want to learn more about him, you can check his Instagram account: @readyevolve.

Stewart Williams, Donald Wexler, and Bill Krisel - plus Modern Tide, Modern Ruin with past guest Matthew Silva, Beyond the Beach: The Life and Death of Norman Jaffe, and the upcoming film Frey. Architect Kyle Bergman is director of the upcoming Architecture & Design Film Festival in New York, which he started in 2008 and has expanded to cities all over the world. One of the problems with preserving futuristic-looking Modernist buildings is that they just don’t look that old. They aren’t universally loved, in fact some of them weren’t that popular when they were built. The World Monuments Fund (WMF) is a private nonprofit organization to decelerate the destruction of important artistic treasures throughout the world. You might have heard of the Leaning Tower of Pisa? They helped fix it. Well, they helped stop the extra leaning. We'll talk with Joshua David, President and CEO of the WMF about the fund's latest focus on Modernist buildings around the world. Filmmaker and high school teacher Matthew Silva produced the acclaimed documentary “Modern Ruin” about one highly endangered Modernist site, the New York State Pavilion in Queens New York, or if you’re under 40, the Men In Black headquarters. As a kid. Matthew would ride past the ruined, hulking New York State Pavilion, built for the 1964 World’s Fair, and wonder what it was. Years later while studying architecture, he could not believe such a visible building by Philip Johnson could be left to ruin. His film charted the up and down history of the complex and has led to new public funding for its preservation.

The Mouse Castle Lounge Podcast: Disney News and Interviews, Cocktails and Conversations
Two great conversations in the Lounge today. First, filmmaker Matthew Silva talks about his efforts to preserve the New York Pavilion in Flushing Meadows, one of the last remnants of the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. It was at this fair that Walt Disney launched some of his most iconic attractions including It's a Small World, the Carousel of Progress and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. We also wrap up a conversation with Tim O'Day, who tells tales about what it was like to hold the world premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" at Disneyland in 2006. www.TheMouseCastle.com
