We're off on another pirate adventure this week when we eat crab, coconut water, melon, pineapple, and apple before discussing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006). The addition of Elizabeth thirsting for Jack's pirate booty is out of character for a person who just had her wedding to Will Turner ruined. There may be too much silly sword-fighting in the film, but Bootstrap Bill and Davy Jones make this continuing story better. Now we're off to go save Jack with help from a demon monkey and an old “friend?”

This week, SepTIMEber concludes with another charming British time travel rom-com that segues into fam-dram territory before it reaches the finish line. It's 2013's About Time, written and directed by Richard Curtis, and starring Domhnall Gleason, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson, Vanessa Kirby and an uncredited Richard E. Grant. It's once again the final Friday of the month, as even this theme month can not stop the inexorable march of time, and Hayley's got the keys to the vault this time around, as she's chosen to nominate a cozy comfort film that's come to mean a great deal to her over the last decade. It's a cute movie with a sharp premise that plays a bit like if Edge of Tomorrow was a romantic comedy -- at least as far as it's interested in being a romantic comedy, anyway. We debate, as always. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our conversation, About Time is not currently available to stream in Canada at the time of publication, but is rentable on YouTube, Cineplex and Amazon. And you can nab it for $5 on DVD at your local Sunrise Records. Other works discussed on this episode include Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek (2009), Spider-Man: Far From Home, San Andreas, Lost, Super 8, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Arrested Development, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Early Edition, Phantom Thread, Saltburn and Love, Actually..., among others. We'll be back next week to kick off a new theme month as we put SepTIMEber in the past and move on to four weeks of frights, as Spooktober begins with a meeting of the minds from George A. Romero and Stephen King: 1982's Creepshow, which is currently streaming north of the border on Hollywood Suite. The rest of the Spooktober schedule includes 1408, The Birds, and our October canon consideration The Thing! It's gonna be a great month, so come on back, and until then, we'll see you at the movies!!
EPISODE 181: In this episode, Jason is joined by Old Man Brad himself, to throw some well-aimed shade (and praise) at the Top 5 highest-grossing films of 2006. Were these hits box office juggernauts or bloated cash grabs? Spoiler: it's a little of both. Movies Covered: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest – Johnny Depp and his mascara return for a bloated, kraken-filled adventure. Did we really need a 2-hour CGI tentacle fight? Apparently, yes—because $1 billion. The Da Vinci Code – Tom Hanks solves riddles while giving us a history lesson that no one asked for. Conspiracy theories and bad wigs galore—who knew history could be so... snooze-worthy? Ice Age: The Meltdown – That one with the acorn-obsessed squirrel. Climate change? Check. Endless slapstick? Check. A movie we definitely only went to because the kids begged? Check. Casino Royale – Daniel Craig tries to prove he's not just another Bond. Casino games, explosions, and parkour—basically, it's the gritty reboot that reminded us James Bond doesn't have to be a cartoon character. A Night at the Museum – Where Ben Stiller plays an underqualified security guard and we're all supposed to believe that museum exhibits come to life at night. An enjoyable fever dream or a franchise that outstayed its welcome?
Follow the homies Cam (Cameron Cox) and Dylan (Dylan Hernandez) two former AMC Theater employees as they take a nostalgic trip back in time to rewatch films that mean the most to them! This episode we decided to discuss the that has that Bad Ass MJ song attached to it, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a 2006 American fantasy swashbuckler film directed by Gore Verbinski, written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), it is the second installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. Set one year after the events of The Curse of the Black Pearl, the film recounts Captain Jack Sparrow owing a debt to Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), the ghastly captain of the Flying Dutchman, and being marked for death and pursued by the Kraken. Meanwhile, the wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) is interrupted by Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), who wants Turner to acquire Jack's magic compass in a bid to find the Dead Man's Chest.. On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are on an unstoppable quest to rescue our dearest and cutest kitten. We watched the 2016 film from Peter Atencio, Keanu.Today, we're wrapping up our celebration of all things Keanu Reeves with a fur-filled adventure story filled with crazy drugs, terrifying hitmen, and probably the most photogenic kitten ever.It also happens to be our B-movie episode of this month. It's not a B-movie in quality—you'll hear all about that—but it's as close as we're willing to get with our celebration of this glorious person. It's also a great Key & Peele film from the days when they weren't a voice in a Mario movie or taking the horror world by storm. This thing's got it all!Listen on to find out what our ranking for this film will be: brilliant, a flunder, or the dreaded blunder…(Recorded on September 08, 2023)Links to Stuff We Mentioned:Keanu - The Movie Database (TMDB)Introducing Hammy! - Dandy CatHomeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Rescuers Down Under (1990) — The Movie Database (TMDB)My Girl (1991) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Land Before Time (1988) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Saving Private Ryan (1998) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The Shining (1980) — The Movie Database (TMDB)iZombie (TV Series 2015–2019) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Faith | George Michael - YouTubeWham! - WikipediaThe Boondock Saints (1999) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Deadpool 2 (2018) — The Movie Database (TMDB)This Fool (TV Series 2022- ) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Step Brothers (2008) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) — The Movie Database (TMDB)The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) — The Movie Database (TMDB)DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story (2004) — The Movie Database (TMDB)Behind The Scenes on Toy Story 4 | Flicks and the City - YouTubeFollow Us:Give us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts! Our Instagram profile! Our Twitter profile!Support the show

The trio are joined by their good friend and most valiant soldier of the second Pirates of the Caribbean film, Chance Freytag, who has brought with him a jar of dirt with a three-hour pod inside of it. They discuss the film's more muted reception as compared to the modern classic of The Curse of the Black Pearl as well as the film's sublimely chaotic production before rewatching the movie (42:52) and assessing how it holds up all these years later as its own film and without the expectations as the follow-up to its predecessor.
In which we sail the treacherous waters of Tortuga in quest of Davy Jones' beating heart, then we save Jack Sparrow from the Kraken at the world's end. Or whatever it was that happened in these movies. Dean Man's Chest: 00:00 At World's End: 58:37 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheFranchise

Jay and Nick Rehak (@TheRehak on Twitter) maintain their heading across the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with the first sequel, Dead Man's Chest. Directed by Gore Verbinski and following the further adventures of Will, Elizabeth, Captain Jack and the rest, this time they're dealing with mystical witches, giant wheels and a compass pointing to a drawing of a key to a chest containing the heart of a squid-man who controls the ocean. Simple. In this episode they talk about dirty teeth, dizzy sword fighting and tentacle stuff! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4484946/advertisement

Pirates Month continues! It's the follow up to one of the biggest surprise hits Disney ever had. Can it capture the magic of the original?
After the massive success of The Curse of the Black Pearl, it was rather obvious that Disney had a franchise on their hands. So it was inevitable that a sequel was going to be made. Or in this case, two sequels. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gathered his director Gore Verbinski, his co-stars Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly, and of course his Oscar nominated actor Johnny Depp. The result is 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest. A movie that despite being hammered by so-so reviews, went on to make over $1 billion. Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they take a look at the sequel and conclude whether its bad reviews were warranted. And be sure to keep coming back as the boys will continue looking at the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, all the way through 2017's Dead amen Tell No Tales!
We finally reach the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest! Jack Sparrow taunts Davy Jones with the iconic Jar of Dirt, and Davy Jones sends the Kraken to attack the Black Pearl. Jack has to make a choice that will either result in him living or dying, and the crew of the Black Pearl defend the ship from multiple Kraken attacks. Elizabeth makes a hard choice that will end up drifting Will away, and Jack finally faces death right in its face. James Norrington delivers the heart of Davy Jones to Cutler Beckett, and the crew gathers at Tia Dalma's shack to witness the return of a fan favorite character. Justin also explains a few different unscripted moments that make the movie even better. Get ready for an exciting and thrilling end to the second movie in the Pirates franchise!
