Whether you are designing a 100,000 sq. ft. mansion or a charming beach cottage, the principles of good design are always in play. On today's podcast, Paul McClean shares how he loves working with clients of all sizes to design a home that provides the backdrop to living a beautiful life. BACK STORY Paul McClean is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a licensed architect in multiple states. McClean grew up in Ireland, where he attended the Dublin Institute of Technology graduating with honors in architecture in 1994. During his time at the university, he traveled extensively and worked for award winning architectural practices in London, Dublin and Sydney, Australia. He also had the opportunity to work with the Monument Service of Ireland sketching and surveying many of the historic castles and monasteries dotted throughout the Irish landscape. In addition, he spent a year working with a firm in Dublin on museums and art galleries in the national capital. After graduation, he arrived in Southern California and worked for various local architectural firms before establishing McClean Design in 2000. McClean feels very fortunate these last few years and has managed to complete many new homes. He has always enjoyed working with different people and is constantly amazed by the different and varied backgrounds of his clients. He has been able to establish lasting relationships with high quality builders and other design professionals helping to ensure that his entire team is committed to realizing the dreams and aspirations of his clients. Design is more than a job to McClean. It is something he has wanted to do ever since he was a little boy and feels lucky enough to be able to practice today and hopefully for a long time!
