This week's Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report covers late-summer fishing from Louisiana deep-drop jigging to Alabama nearshore snapper, triple tail tagging, swordfish, grouper, and speckled trout. Butch Thierry is joined in studio by Dr. Dylan Kiene, who opens the show with an update on the Gulf-wide cobia and triple tail tagging project, including acoustic tags, satellite tags, reward tags, angler recaptures, and why better movement data can help build stronger fisheries management across state lines. Chris Vecsey of J&M Tackle kicks off the reports with a recap of a Louisiana trip that produced queen snapper, marble grouper, and a true fish-of-a-lifetime Cubera snapper on heavy tackle. He also talks through nearshore red snapper around Perdido Pass, fresh cut bait, overlooked close-to-shore structure, subtle baits for lethargic redfish and trout, hot-water flounder tactics, and why smaller, less invasive presentations can be the key when shallow fish get sluggish in August. Capt. Patric Garmeson of Ugly Fishing follows with a nearshore and inshore report focused on live pogies, gas platforms, red snapper, sharks, triple tail, flounder, and speckled trout. Patric breaks down how he's using pogies on Carolina rigs and slow-sinking presentations around nearshore structure, why bait variety matters from day to day, and how a recent triple tail tagging trip showed just how important bait choice, electronics, and not breaking fish off can be. He also explains why speckled trout have been one of the most reliable bright spots of the summer. Capt. King Marchand closes the fishing side with an offshore report from the Lady Ann, where a slow tuna bite has pushed him toward snapper, triggerfish, deep-drop grouper, beeliners, and swordfish. King explains how reading small anomalies on electronics can make or break a daytime swordfish trip, why he has adjusted his overnight strategy, and how he's targeting yellowedge grouper, snowy grouper, beeliners, and triggerfish when tuna are not cooperating. The episode also includes a safety-focused sponsor conversation with Mitchell Smith of Pike Consulting Group, covering boat safety, Garmin InReach, kill switches, ditch kits, OSHA compliance, worker training, and why small businesses should get ahead of safety issues before they become expensive problems. "The US is dangerously close to the brink of being Japan 1989."That is not a hot take from a doom account. That is Patric on this week's Bricks, Bucks & Bytes, laying out why asset overvaluation in private markets and infrastructure has him worried about stagflation. On this episode:✅ Why data center contractors are sitting on 11.4 months of backlog while everyone else has 7.5✅ The AI productivity story corporate America still cannot prove with real numbers✅ Why the construction RFP process is fundamentally broken, and who is actually responsible for it✅ What Meta's new partnership with North America's Building Trades Unions means for the data center buildoutDustin DeVan put it plainly: "You can't now build a project that much cheaper."Where do you land?

This week's Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report looks ahead to Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo weekend with a mix of inshore, nearshore, and offshore tactics from Capt. Patric Garmeson of Ugly Fishing and Capt. King Marchand of Capt. Mike's Fishing. Butch Thierry opens the show with a reminder to be careful during one of the busiest boating weekends of the summer, especially with pop-up storms, offshore runs, night traffic, and tournament pressure all in play. Capt. Patric Garmeson kicks things off with a detailed inshore and nearshore report from the Dauphin Island area. He covers summertime trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, black drum, puppy drum, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, cobia, red snapper, sharks, and jack crevalle, while stressing the importance of changing tactics instead of getting locked into one species or one presentation. Patric explains how he's using croakers, shrimp, baitfish, popping corks, free-lined baits, Z-Man paddletails, Slick Juniors, and heavier jig heads around deeper structure. He also breaks down how thermoclines can show up on electronics and why fish may hold above that low-oxygen bottom layer, making it important to adjust bait depth and presentation. Nearshore, Patric shares how chunking pogies has produced snapper, cobia, kings, Spanish, and other bonus fish, and why small circle hooks, hidden hooks, steady chum lines, live croakers, bite tippets, and drift lines can all help anglers get more bites. Capt. King Marchand closes the show from the Lady Ann with a big-game-focused rodeo report. He explains how tournament fishing changes the mindset from filling the box to targeting winning fish, and why he and the Capt. Mike's Fishing crew are planning to focus on tuna, dolphin, marlin, and wahoo rather than trying to cover every rodeo category. King talks through tackle upgrades, live-baiting blackfin tuna for blue marlin, trolling big lures, chunking and live-baiting for tuna, looking for grass lines, watching Hilton's Realtime Navigator, and deciding when to stay on fish versus when to leave a rig. He also covers offshore safety, storm strategy, cobia around buoys and structure, a tougher snapper bite around heavy bait, and the blue-and-white Islander behind a bird as one of his confidence baits for blue marlin. Keskustelussa käsitellään muun muassa: Mitä psykedeeliterapia käytännössä on? Miten terapeuttinen valmistautuminen ja integraatio vaikuttavat lopputulokseen? Mitä tutkimus kertoo masennuksen, traumojen ja riippuvuuksien hoidosta? Mikä on neuroplastisuuden rooli psykologisessa muutoksessa? SpaceX just paid $60 billion for Cursor. On this week's Bricks, Bucks & Bytes, Patric wasn't buying the logic:"Why in the world would you buy an independent gas station chain and think that makes you more competitive with your bigger oil producing rival?"His take: Cursor is a reseller of tokens. Owning it doesn't make you a better model company — just a bigger, more exposed gas station. We also dug into Autodesk's $3.6B MaintainX deal, why Palantir won't win construction, and the $8 trillion data center buildout.Full episode out now.

And why are the Blues fuming? Rob then joins the conversation for the second part, as we look at the new contract for Vitalii Mykolenko and interest in Hayden Hackney. This week's Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report covers a fishery that's in full transition mode. After wild swings in weather, from 80-degree afternoons to freezing mornings, Captain Patric Garmeson reports that the fishing has actually been better than you'd expect for late February. On warming trends, fish are sliding shallow and acting more like it's spring already, with redfish, trout, flounder, drum, and sheepshead all showing up in the mix. When conditions turn windy and cold, the rivers and protected water are still producing, especially around docks, rocks, and pilings. One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation is the importance of being reactionary. The fish are simply responding to water temperature, clarity, and pressure, so anglers need to do the same. Patric shares a tactic he picked up from the Lower Chesapeake Bay report that's made a real difference locally: downsizing tackle. By switching to lighter braid, lighter leaders, and small jig heads paired with subtle plastics like the Slick Junior and Little Slick, he's been able to get more bites in clear, pressured water. When trout are suspended in deeper systems like canals and the Mobile River, a slow-sinking presentation—whether it's a free-lined shrimp or a lightly weighted artificial—has been key. Bait-wise, live shrimp are still effective, but fresh dead shrimp have been surprisingly productive, especially for redfish, drum, and flounder. With flounder showing up consistently across multiple systems since January, there's growing optimism about what the spring flounder bite might look like. As sheepshead season ramps up, the conversation shifts toward conservation. Patric emphasizes the value of releasing fish over 20 inches, not just during the spawn but year-round. Those larger fish represent significantly greater egg production and long-term genetic strength in the fishery. The "Release Over 20" mindset isn't about shaming anyone; it's about keeping a strong population for the future while still enjoying a fish fry with mid-sized fish. Offshore, Tom Hilton breaks down what to look for when targeting wahoo and tuna. Ideal wahoo water ranges from the upper 60s to mid-70s, with clean blue water, defined temperature breaks, structure, and current all stacking together. Areas near the Destin fads, the Oriskany, and along the shelf edge show promising conditions when those factors overlap. Tuna, as always, remain harder to pin down, but temperature, bait presence, and current remain central to the search. The episode wraps with a reminder about the upcoming Mobile Boat Show and opportunities to get involved in fish tagging through CCA Alabama. A cool tagging story highlights just how much growth and movement can happen over 500 days in the life of a redfish, reinforcing how valuable long-term data can be. Overall, this report is about adaptability. Whether you're inshore chasing trout and sheepshead or offshore hunting wahoo, the anglers who pay attention to environmental shifts and adjust accordingly are the ones finding success right now.
