LensWork - Photography and the Creative Process

HT2688 - Outside the Box We've all heard that age-old maxim about creativity and "thinking outside the box." We are supposed to hear this exhortation relative to our unconscious habits. I would propose that the box we are supposed to get outside of is the camera itself. When I find myself thinking I've made a nice photograph, I know I need to let go of photography and remember that art is about LIFE, not our chosen medium of expression. This RSS feed includes only the most recent seven Here's a Thought episodes. All of them — over 2600 and counting! — are available to members of LensWork Online. Try a 30-day membership for only $10 and discover the literally terabytes of content about photography and the creative process. Show your appreciation for our free weekly Podcast and our free daily Here's a Thought… with a donation Thanks!

The federal budget has shaken up the lending landscape, but could the changes also push brokers to look beyond their traditional patch and find new opportunities? In the first episode of The Broker Show, mortgage broker and Its Simple Finance founder Joseph Daoud sits down with LoanOptions.ai founder Julian Fayad to unpack the fallout from the budget, where brokers could find their next phase of growth, and the opportunities emerging across asset finance, commercial, and SMSF lending. From finding the right partners and building new revenue streams to embracing technology and carving out a niche, the pair explore why diversifying does not have to mean doing everything yourself – and why now could be the time to start broking outside the box.

After a seven-week hiatus nearly long enough to match a hydration break, From Outside The Box returns ahead of K League 1 Round 16 to catch listeners up on the biggest plotlines prior to the World Cup break.   Matthew Binns and Alex Jensen return to the podcasting booth as they prepare for this weekend's English broadcast coverage of K League 1 once more.    There's first time to cast a surprisingly sympathetic eye on Hong Myung-bo, following his departure from the Korea National Team as a result of their disappointing group stage exit, in addition to a look at the effect it may have on the seven K League players who also returned from Mexico with the team.   Then we refresh our memories of the title race, last year's K League 2 graduates and this year's potential second tier applicants, as well as a look at the players who were making a name for themselves before the summer break.

Growing up wasn't easy for Daniel Harcar, but choosing to believe in Jesus led to a life dedicated to making disciples.  "I want to make disciples. I want to see the fruit of my ministry, but I want that fruit to last." -Daniel Daniel accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 16 years old. A year later, he began serving at his local church in Prešov as a member of the youth group, and soon became a leader of both the high school youth group and the English camp outreach ministry called KECY. In 2013, he passed the leadership role of the local youth group to the next generation and later joined the Training Center Kompas (Josiah Venture's partner organization in Slovakia), where he now serves as the KECY coordinator. He married his wife Denisa in the fall of 2012. Together, they share a heart for making disciples who make disciples. If God gave you a specific talent, a unique background, or a hobby you love, is it possible He intended to use those very things as a bridge to the Gospel? Many of us wait for a "traditional" door to open, but what if the most effective way to reach your neighbor is to think entirely outside the box?In this episode, Tracie and Abigail dive back into the life of Lilias Trotter to look at her ingenious ministry methods. From her early days advocating for women with the YWCA to her pioneering work in North Africa, Lilias didn't leave her artistry behind—she used it as a key to unlock hearts. We discuss how she used her sketches, her appreciation for beauty, and even her unique life experiences to connect with people who were closed off to the Gospel message. Join us as we explore how, with a little ingenuity and tenacity, your own unique "pivot" can lead to a ministry that reaches others for the cause of Christ. If you know of someone who can be helped by listening to the Abundant Living Podcast, please share this episode with them. I've taken a lot of notes over the years sitting in on this man's lectures. Leadership,  developing the ideal promotional process to put the right people in the right seats and building cultures to support our mission. What it looks like to promote up through the ranks, and how perspective changes when you start looking back over your career.  And as always, the audience jump in with their questions and took over the conversation and it was awesome! Enjoy the show!
