Mentions of crowd sizes and eating pets were just two moments from what was an incredible piece of political theater during the first and possibly only debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. We discuss the debate with Nate French, associate teaching professor at Wake Forest University and an expert in political communication.

Intro Banter - This is the (mostly) unscripted intro to the show! We catch up, play games, talk about games that perhaps did not make the main show, and just gab, Welcome! First Impressions – We talk about the first time with a title, from the acquisition to the first look, to the first play and deliver thoughts in writing and on the show. This Episode: Larry: Welcome To New Las Vegas Designed by Alexis Allard & Benoit Turpin Published by Deep Water Games Released in 2020. Alex: Thor, Black Widow, Dr. Strange From Marvel Champions: The Card Game Designed by Michael Boggs, Nate French, Caleb Grace Published by Fantasy Flight Games Released in 2020 (Base Card game released in 2019) On the table - We will examine what the game is like when played, we need to personify that experience, this should be impersonal experience wise, but cover angles and what to expect from the title, cover components, setting, rules and the overall atmosphere. This Time we cover Xia Legends of a Drift System! Designed by Cody Miller Published By Far Off Games Released in 2014 Rules- This covers everything in the Rule book from setup to actually communicating what you are doing when you play. Components- Every piece in the box, this can also cover table presence, what does it look like when it is all laid out. Play- How does the game play, is it smooth, what are the fun interactions, what does it encourage. Theme- What does the title do with its theme, how does it use it to further the narrative of the game and provide atmosphere for those playing. Lighthouse Spotlight - This segment is filled with “hidden” Gems we believe are due more time in the spotlight than they get! Pay attention to genre and theme here and if it's up your alley, go and get it, it's a safe bet! Larry: In Vino Morte Designed by Chris Anderson Published by Button Shy Games Released in 2016. This is episode #1 to my new board game podcast. On this episode I discuss Arkham Horror LCG by Nate French, Matthew Newman, and Fantasy Flight Games, as well as Spyfall 2 by Alexander Ushan and Hobby World LLC. Enjoy.
Dzisiaj będzie komiksowo i LCG-owo.
Better late and wrong than never wrong, am I right? Wait, that doesn't make sense. We're using "culture" pretty broadly, here--the SVWAG staff anthropologist is out with the flu, so there's only so much we can do. We're ready to accept some degree of cultural variance, but we don't endorse cultural relativism as a moral theory; our staff ethicist is still very much at his post. That said, social gatherings are most definitely susceptible to cultural standards than moral precepts are, and we are ever in thrall to one of SVWAG's primordial maxims: "Read the room." Look, it's hard enough to remember games without them injecting too many dates into their titles. Claustrophobia 1643 I keep misremembering as 1648 (Treaty of Westphalia), Ausburg 15whenever is as forgettable as the game, Pulsar 2849 barely sticks in my mind, and now Caylus 1303. I'd be tempted to just try and parse the game as "Caylus 13XX," but it's not about trains, now, is it? WIHI - A Podcast from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement
Date: October 12, 2017 Featuring: Jake Maguire, MA, Principal, Community Solutions, Built for Zero Beth Sandor, Principal, Community Solutions, Built for Zero Nate French, Senior Improvement Advisor, Community Solutions Ninon Lewis, MS, Executive Director, Institute for Healthcare Improvement On any given night of the year, the nation's homeless veterans number around 40,000; another estimated 84,000 fit the definition of chronically having no place to live. Frustrated by the seemingly entrenched situation, a group called Community Solutionshas been using tools and methods and campaign-style momentum adopted from IHI and the health care quality improvement movement to decrease homelessness in the US. Their improvement science approach coupled with a strategy called Built for Zero is leading to impressive results. Community Solutions has taken a rigorous, relentless, real-time, data-driven approach — including careful tracking of individuals by name, and the engagement of a wide range of social services and supports — and they're demonstrating that homelessness can be dramatically reduced. On this episode of WIHI, Jake Maguire, Beth Sandor, and Nate French from Community Solutions describe communities how they have increased their monthly rates of housing homeless individuals by an average of 266% over four years.

Episode 3 of the 1 Player podcast is all about co-operative games. First I go the timeline of co-operative games starting way back in 1979. I make one glaring mistake during this segment but manage to correct myself later in the show. See if you can find it before I do. Finally, I review Lord of the Rings by Reiner Knizia & Lord of the Rings: The Card Game by Nate French. Lord of the Rings on BGG. Lord of the Rings: The Card Game on BGG.
