The company - which also owns Newstalk ZB and the New Zealand Herald - is reporting full-year earnings of $54.2 million and a net loss after tax of $16 million after impairment. Operating revenue is up 2 percent, but earnings are down by 3.6 percent. Chief Executive Michael Boggs says they're doing a strategic review of OneRoof. New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) says its first-half revenue was slightly up on the year before, despite a tough trading environment. The media group behind the New Zealand Herald, BusinessDesk, Newstalk ZB and OneRoof reported a first-half net profit of $1.9 million, down 4.3 percent on the year before. "We are seeing signs of improvement, we're obviously seeing the OCR coming down, we're seeing business and consumer confidence start to lift - so we'd love to see that flow through." New Zealand Media Entertainment (NZME) today posted a $5.6 million net profit for the half year to June. That's up 85% on last year and shareholders will get a dividend for the first time since 2018. NZME owns around half the country's radio stations (including Newstalk ZB) as well as brands such as the New Zealand Herald, Viva and One Roof. CEO Michael Boggs says the company is able to now pay a dividend because they've paid down their debts. Three years ago, the company had over $100 million debt, today just $18.6 million. The board was also in a position to do a capital return to shareholders, but has decided to wait for a little bit more certainty around what's happening in the market environment. NZME has also announced a conditional sale of its brand GrabOne to Global Marketplace. The sale is due to be completed by 31 October 2021. LISTEN ABOVE

NZ Herald owner NZME exceeded its guidance for the year to December 31 clocking up operating earnings of $67.3 million and signalling a return to dividends. The media company had forecast operating ebitda of $63m-$66m including $8.6m accessed from Government Covid-19 wage subsidies.Today it reported a statutory net profit of $14.2m compared to a net loss of $165.2m in 2019 when it suffered impairments to intangible assets. The underlying earnings figure of $67.3m was a 3 per cent increase on the previous year.NZME shares gained 2c to 92c following the result. The stock has climbed from a low of 18c in April.NZME chief executive Michael Boggs. Photo / FileNZME, which owns the New Zealand Herald, Newstalk ZB, the OneRoof property website and a suite of entertainment radio stations including ZM, The Hits and Hauraki, reported operating revenue of $331.2m, down 11 per cent on the previous year. The drop in revenue reflected the significant impacts of Covid-19 on advertising, NZME said. Advertising revenue fell 16 per cent to $218.9m.During the year the company reduced net debt by $40.9m to $33.8m with its leverage ratio falling to 0.6 times operating ebitda at balance date.As previously signalled, NZME said it expected a return to dividend payments this year."Given the significant reduction in debt, and based on this outlook and NZME's capital requirements, the board expects to be able to return to payment of dividends in the second half of 2021."Chairwoman Barbara Chapman pointed to the company's navigation of Covid-19 challenges as key to delivering earnings growth."Our people stayed steadfastly committed to our purpose of keeping Kiwis in the know. NZME's journalism and entertainment excelled across all our print, digital and radio platforms. Our teams of entertainers did what they do best: keeping Kiwis connected and their spirits up."NZME reported further momentum in its key strategic priorities with year-on-year growthin radio revenue market share and digital listening via its iHeartRadio platform. The NZ Herald Premium news subscription service grew to 102,000 subscribers, including more than 53,000 paid digital-only subscribers generating revenue of $6.6 million in 2020.Real estate platform OneRoof held the number one position in residential for-sale real estate listings in Auckland for most of 2020, with more than 89 per cent of listings in New Zealand as at December 31, 2020. The portal contributed $4.3 million of digital classifieds revenue in the year.NZME's revenue market share grew across its key channels, including 40.4 per cent in radio advertising, 47.1 per cent in print advertising and 24.3 per cent in digital display."The initial shock of Covid-19 on NZME saw advertising revenues across our business fall by close to 50 per cent," chief executive Michael Boggs said. "But Kiwi business owners understand the value of staying engaged with their audiences and as New Zealand moved through the crisis phase of the pandemic, advertising spend steadily returned."It's very pleasing that we ended 2020 with advertising revenue in some areas approaching levels similar to 2019," said Boggs. At an investor presentation in November, NZME talked of shifting its strategic focus to expanding the Herald, increasing radio dominance and accelerating real estate portal OneRoof's growth.Today NZME reported further momentum in its key strategic priorities with year-on-year growth in radio revenue market share and digital listening via its iHeartRadio platform."The reshaping of our business in 2020 means NZME remains in a good position as the ongoing impacts of Covid-19 are felt into 2021 and possibly beyond," Chapman said."As we have stated previously, the government wage subsidy supported the production of quality journalism and broadcasting during an extremely difficult period and helped NZME retain roles that are now supporting the delivery of our strategy."NZME's share price has climbed from a low of 18c in...

On this week’s SGNP Arthur and Darien Talk with Kelly Nelon Clark and her husband Jason Clark about there great new project life and fun, Also Arthur And Darien talk about the SGMA and there pending move. Also, find out about the NQC and the hall of fame induction ceremonies. Grammy® Award-nominated, Dove Award-winning Gospel music family group The Nelons return October 2 with Peace At Last, their first new studio recording in two years. Comprised of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, Amber Nelon Kistler and Autumn Nelon Clark, the Gospel Music Hall of Famers' forthcoming 13-song collection also marks their new long-term partnership with Daywind Records. Produced by Jason Clark and Dove Award-winner Wayne Haun, Peace At Last features nine songs co-penned by Clark and six by Haun, along with contributions from acclaimed writers Tony Wood, Joel Lindsey, Kenna West, Michael Boggs, and Reba Rambo and Dony McGuire, among others. The recording reflects the group’s influences across Gospel, country and Americana genres, while featuring the signature vocals and family harmonies that have been their trademark for more than three decades. Highlights of Peace At Last include the new single and video, “Jordan,” an infectious barnburner featuring Autumn Nelon Clark on lead. Amber Nelon Kistler’s country-tinged vocals deliver the gentle ballads “Grace Ain’t Fair” and “If God Pulled Back The Curtain,” while Kelly Nelon Clark’s soothing alto is instantly recognizable on the anthemic title-cut, as well as the folksy “Patience of Job.” The cinematic “Still Free,” drawing from the biblical accounts of Daniel in the lion’s den, and Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego in the furnace, exhorts believers to walk in freedom and confidence. And bringing the collection full circle, “Pilgrim” reflects the group’s lauded southern gospel heritage. “We believe God knew these songs, these stories, the Truth they tell and the Hope they give, would need to be heard at such a time as this,” said Kelly Nelon Clark. “When I see tears of lonely people, I remember ‘Two Are Better Than One.’ When the news is filled with stories of hate and division, I relisten to ‘Wish We All Could Remember.’ And when I’m gripped with fear and doubt, I imagine ‘If God Pulled Back The Curtain’ to my heavenly home. We can know peace¬—Peace At Last—because we know Him. I don’t believe we have ever recorded a more important or timely collection of songs.” “When Tony Wood and I began to write ‘Peace At Last,’ we had no idea what 2020 would hold,” remembers Jason Clark. “For me personally, the year has included months of recuperation from both heart surgery and emergency knee surgery. Not to mention the pandemic and all the other challenges our country and world have had to face. We want these songs to remind listeners—and ourselves—that although times may be a little different, a little harder, we are going to make it! God hasn’t forgotten us, and He will never let us walk in the valley alone. ‘There’s a better day—a’ coming children—there will be peace at last.’” “All of us at Daywind Records are absolutely thrilled to stand in partnership with our friends The Nelons as we enter into a new long-term agreement,” said Dusty Wells, Director of Artist and Label Relations, Daywind Records. “Kelly, Jason, Amber and Autumn have been treasured members of our Daywind family for years. We believe in The Nelons: their music, their ministry, what they are called to do, and all they represent. We also believe that Peace At Last is a career album for them, and will be a favorite for many years to come. This is just the beginning of wonderful new opportunities for The Nelons and Daywind Records.” Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2016, The Nelons have been one of Gospel music’s best-loved families for nearly four decades. The group has been nominated for three Grammy® Awards; received seven Dove Awards, 14 Singing News Fan Awards, a Silver Angel Award, a People’s Choice Silver Telly Award, and a New York Film Festival Award. The Nelons have recorded more than 35 albums, amassing over 20 Top 5 southern gospel radio singles, including such classics as “We Shall Wear A Robe and Crown,” “Come Morning,” “O For A Thousand Tongues” and “Thanks.” They have frequently been featured on the best-selling Gaither Homecoming recordings and videos, and have performed on the Grand Ole Opry, among other historic venues. The Nelons continue the rich tradition initiated by family patriarch Rex Nelon, father of Kelly Nelon Clark, who began his legendary career when he joined Gospel Music Hall of Fame members The LeFevres in 1957. The group eventually became known as The Rex Nelon Singers before changing their name to The Nelons in 1982. Through the decades, The Nelons’ polished harmonies and performances, and their anthology of timeless songs, have helped to expand the audience for Gospel music around the world. We're using "culture" pretty broadly, here--the SVWAG staff anthropologist is out with the flu, so there's only so much we can do. We're ready to accept some degree of cultural variance, but we don't endorse cultural relativism as a moral theory; our staff ethicist is still very much at his post. That said, social gatherings are most definitely susceptible to cultural standards than moral precepts are, and we are ever in thrall to one of SVWAG's primordial maxims: "Read the room." Look, it's hard enough to remember games without them injecting too many dates into their titles. Claustrophobia 1643 I keep misremembering as 1648 (Treaty of Westphalia), Ausburg 15whenever is as forgettable as the game, Pulsar 2849 barely sticks in my mind, and now Caylus 1303. Message from Michael Boggs on January 14, 2018
On our agenda: We sat down at Worlds 2017 with Android: Netrunner lead designer and developer, Michael Boggs, to talk all things Worlds and the future of Netrunner. We got Michael's Worlds predictions - see how accurate he was at predicting the meta. Michael talked us through the removed and restricted list; is he happy with how it's functioning, what changes does he anticipate, which cards was he a little more tentative about including, and would could be in the gun post-Worlds. Apologies for the slight audio glitches on this one, we were recording in person and there was an intermittent noise that had to be edited out lest it blow your eardrums (thanks Radisson), so there are some sharp cutouts of audio semi-regularly throughout the episode. Wilfy and Alex share their reflections from the swiss rounds and top 16, including the sharing of decklists before matches, and some of their highs and lows. Wilfy gives some extra special insight into the process of reaching and triumphing in the final of Worlds, and foreshadows some more in-depth analysis of his invitational card and the tournament itself in weeks to come!
