Chaz and AJ caught up with LiveNation's Jimmy Koplik this morning and things started off with a fun guessing game to figure out the mystery female superstar whose name begins with a "B" who was nearly arrested for smoking pot before a show at the New Haven Coliseum back in the 70s. Chaz and AJ invited Michael Morand, the official historian of New Haven in studio this morning to talk about music. The city has a reputation for excellent concerts, and that apparently goes back hundreds of years to the Mashantucket Pequot tribe. More recently, the Yale Bowl, Toads Place, and the New Haven Coliseum. 

An evacuation of the State Capitol building happened Wednesday after reports of a bomb threat. Chaz and AJ spoke with Vinny Candelora, who admitted there probably wasn't too many folks in the building, as it is still technically in lockdown due to Covid. Dennis House from WTNH Channel 8 was on to talk about yesterday's interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. Dennis explained how security arrives days and days ahead of her estimated arrival, how cautious they have to be when ordering food, and why he was only allowed to speak with the Vice President for 5 minutes. (0:00) Johnathan Churchill from Fairfield was in studio to talk about his 6-month trek along the entire Appalachian Trail. What did he eat, who did he meet, and what was his "trail name?" Jimmy shared a great story of booking the first-ever concert there, and all the hoops he had to jump through with the Mayor and Police Commissioner at the time. Michael Mugrage, songwriter / producer / multi-instrumentalist, began his career in 1974 with is band "Blessings". He inked a deal with ABC records in Hollywood and worked with the legendary producer Gary Katz of Steely Dan.Michael was invited to join Orleans of “Still the One” and “Dance with Me” fame as lead guitarist during their 1982's recording of “One of A Kind”.  Michael toured with them nationally and performed with Orleans on Solid Gold's #1 Classics.James Brown, "the Godfather of Soul", Robben Ford and Bruce Hornsby are among the many other renowned artists that Michael has lent his diverse musical talents to. ABC's Good Morning America's recent, “Good to Go” song and campaign was written and produced by Michael Mugrage and Edd Kalehoff of Monday Night Football.  Michael, also an accomplished musical director, toured with Ronnie Spector, of “Be My Baby” fame for her Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall performances.  He also collaborated with the incomparable Felix Cavaliere of “The Rascals” on the major motion picture “Hiding Out” and “Speed Zone”, as well as being his musical director. Michael's 'first love' of songwriting, has credits that span over his 30 year career.  His songwriting highlights include VH1's first song aired; Smokey Robinson's  R&B hit “Sleepless Nights”.  Chaka Khan's “Naughty” and AWB's Alan Gorrie “Diary of a Fool”.  Michael's many TV and film credits include All My Children, HBO, Showtime, MSG Network and ESPN. Diane Dwyer Scanlon is a Grammy Award winning producer and composer.  Her songs have been recorded by platinum-selling artist Eva Cassidy as well as Vince Gill, Tramaine Hawkins, Darlene Love, Laura Branigan, and Antigone Rising to name a few.  She has been a writer for Peermusic and has songs administered by Kobolt Music.  Currently her extensive song catalog is with Dwyer Hills Music.As an artist she is known for her impassioned, blues-flavored guitar and soul-searching lyrics.  She has toured in the United States and Europe, playing such venues as the Montreux Festival in Switzerland, the Spoleto Festival in South Carolina, Madison Square Garden and the New Haven Coliseum.Currently she is spending her time in her Connecticut studio writing and producing.  During Covid she teamed up with longtime friend and musician Michael Mugrage forming White Feather Music Productions where they are developing young talent as well as writing songs performed by established singers and musicians. https://happyaccidentsband.com/michael-mugragehttps://www.dianescanlon.com/

Dumb Ass News - An angry customer at a Taco Bell demanded the staff connect her to corporate, after they refused to serve her because they had already closed. So one of the workers gave her his own, personal cell phone number and took a fake report of the incident. Dumb Ass News - A naked fugitive was found in croc infested waters. The two guys that discovered him were hysterical news interviews. (0:00)   Bret Ernst is one of the stars of "Cobra Kai," he's Daniel LaRusso's cousin Louie. So how did a comic from New Jersey that moved to the West Coast get into character to play a guy that's from New Jersey and moved out to the West Coast? (3:46)   Live Nation's Jimmy Koplik was on with Howard Saffan, to talk about the incredible progress made at the Bridgeport Amphitheater (Harbor Yard Amphitheater.) Jimmy teased that the opening show has been booked, a big name, but wouldn't reveal it today. Also, a piece of the New Haven Coliseum has been installed, and Bruce Springsteen teases something happening this year. (19:17)   Ashley Norton is in need of a kidney. Chaz and AJ asked the Tribe to share their stories, and got some intense ones about a raging river, a bear encounter, an accidental shooting, and a jackhammer incident. Laurie Hollander, President of "Help Our Military Heroes" was on to help make the announcement about the event, which is going to be a virtual broadcast through Facebook.     This week I have the pleasure of presenting the second set from the band's performance on April 23rd, 1983 at the New Haven Coliseum in New Haven Connecticut. A fine set, as most that start with a smoking Scarlet>Fire, this set features some wonderful Garcia licks, especially in Space, combined with some excellent effects from Mr. Hart. A fine recording I'm a fan of the Saint of Circumstance, even if Weir gets a bit cheezy.. The Other One Wharf Rat is excellent as always. This show, a special request to honor a brother who passed, comes to us from the New Haven Coliseum in New Haven Connecticut on April 23rd, 1983. I considered only playing set number two, as it exists in soundboard form, but this first set has such spirited playing that although it is an audience copy I quite enjoyed it - I hope you do as well.   The 'Alabama Getaway' jumps out of the box and shows the boys mean business on this night. Jerry's licks are fast and hot and it flows naturally into the 'Greatest Story'. While the vocals on 'Candyman' (and several others) are a bit far away, I suggest turning it up! :) 'New Minglewood' smokes.. this is one of the better versions I think... A nice little Garcia jam follows the return to Tennessee.. Bobby sounds a little rushed ;) during 'Lightnin>Supplication' ...the sweet lead into a hot Supplication makes up for it. A lovely 'Peggy-O' follows, then Brent gets to bring out 'Far From Me'.
