ALVIN TAYLOR Legendary Drummer, Musical Director, Producer Alvin has been a lover of drums since the age of five, and his professional career began at the age of fourteen, when he was discovered by, and toured with Little Richard. His most amazing experience came when he was invited to London by George Harrison (of the Beatles) to both live in his castle and to record the “33 1/3” album … and that album went platinum. Further evidence of Alvin's unique talent is his on-going list of credits and tours with other legendary artists such as: Elton John, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Bob Welch, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Gil Scott Heron, Diana Ross, Barry White, Sly Stone, Leo Sayer, Bill Withers, Andre' Crouch, Ronnie Woods, who is the guitarist with the Rolling Stones, and so many others. While working with Little Richard, Alvin played on the hit album “King of Rock & Roll.” He was then asked to join a band called PG&E (Pacific, Gas & Electric) with lead singer Charlie Allen and guitarist Steve Beckmeier. They went on to record a hit song called “Are You Ready” and also did a remake of the hit song“Stagger-Lee.” Billy Preston, also known as, the 5th Beatle and a Beatles' favorite, was initially responsible for Alvin's introduction to studio dates. Alvin went on to tour and record with Billy Preston on many occasions. He also recorded “I'm Just a Sucker For Your Love” with Tina Marie and Rick James. Shortly after that, Alvin's demand as a studio musician by the best producers in the music industry such as Robert Margouleff, Richard Perry, George Martin, the legendary Motown producer Frank Wilson and Norman Whitfield was relentless, and his calendar was never short of dates. He was a constant guest on hit musical television shows such as the Midnight Special, In Concert, Solid Gold, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, The Real Don Steele and Soul Train. Alvin was then asked by Jerry Goldstein to play with the famous and long- standing group War. Goldstein produced, managed, and owned the group as well as the record label Avenue Records. Alvin turned down the offer, however, he then joined the Eric Burdon band. They recorded the albums, “Sun Secrets,” “Stop,” and a double album conceived for a movie sound track titled “Mirage.” He also did a world tour with the Eric Burdon Band. While Alvin was touring with Eric Burdon, an A&R man from Capitol Records named John Carter, one of Alvin's biggest fans, signed Bob Welch, the original guitarist with Fleetwood Mac, to a long-term contract with Capitol Records. He then asked Alvin to put a band together for Welch's album project. After Alvin listened to Welch's demos, he asked Carter, “Who are the musicians playing on the demo?” – Carter's response was “That is all Bob Welch, playing the bass, the keyboards and guitars.” Alvin then informed Carter that he had found a band that could do the recording for Bob Welch's solo album called “French Kiss.” That band consisted of Alvin Taylor and Bob Welch, featuring the hit single “Ebony Eyes,” and the album went gold and then platinum. This was the first tangible proof that Alvin has incredible musical direction and production skills in addition to his dynamic drumming talent. Today, he is still an active and passionate drummer, as well as a music director and producer. He continues to do miscellaneous dates and tours with various artists. He is currently working in pre-production as a musical director for a major television show. His life has been so enriched by his musical craft and astounding career as a successful artist, that he is now in the process of writing a book about his life story. He is always seeking to create and develop new artists, and he has a never-ending artistic mind and enduring love for music. MORE KELLY EXECUTIVE PRODUCER BROOKLYN CARDENAS

The Ladies of SKYY have the distinction of being the last sister-trio still performing together in classic entertainment. Denise, Dolores and Bonné Dunning are the original female vocalists who provided the sensual signature sound of the R&B band SKYY. The sisters joined forces with Solomon Roberts, Jr. (producer, songwriter, drummer, guitarist), Anibal “Booche” Sierra (lead guitarist), and Gerald Lebon (bassist) in 1979. SKYY set themselves apart from other bands of that time with their space-age inspired costumes and a Brooklyn inspired sound. SKYY recorded ten albums and performed on several tours with A-list artists between 1979 and 1993 under Salsoul, Capitol and Atlantic Records. They appeared on numerous television shows, including Soul Train, American Bandstand, Showtime at the Apollo, Solid Gold and BET'S Video Soul with Donny Simpson. They also appear in a commercial for Schlitz Malt Liquor with the Drifters. Their music can be heard in the soundtracks of two movies, “Action Jackson” and “Beauty Shop.” Their biggest chart position was achieved in 1982 when the Salsoul Records album “SKYYLINE” was certified gold and reached #1 album status on the R&B charts and #18 on the Pop charts. SKYY's legacy was chronicled in their TVOne Unsung episode which aired on March 15, 2020, the day the world stood still. The show highlighted the group's top hits, Call Me, Start of a Romance, Let's Celebrate, Here's To You and Real Love, and was a sentimental reminder of the impact their career had on their fans during that magical musical era of the 80's and 90's. After SKYY recorded its final album in 1992, the sister-trio emerged as Ladies of SKYY. For over four decades, their dynamic vocals and captivating stage shows have upheld the legacy of the band's funky and infectious sound, keeping their music alive in the hearts and souls of their fans. These ladies have bridged the gap between generations of music lovers and their longevity has earned them their rightful place among the founding females of the disco, dance, soul, funk, hip hop and R&B musical genres. Salsoul Records will Re-Release of SKYY's Classic Album SkyyLine on January 20th 2023. Salsoul Records recently launched the Disco Essentials vinyl series, re-introducing the classic hits from its catalogue of soul, disco, and funk artists that listeners grew to love from the 70s and 80s. Originally released in 1981, SkyyLine was the Brooklyn- based group's fourth album. Hit singles include ‘Let's Celebrate,' ‘When You Touch Me,' and the mainstream success, ‘Call Me' (which came in at number one on the US Billboard Black Singles and number three on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts). The Ladies of SKYY believe that the re-release of the album, SkyyLine, will introduce a new audience to the Funk/ R & B sounds that have heavily influenced both club and hip-hop, bridging the gap between generations of music lovers. In celebration of this momentous occasion, the remaining original members of SKYY are set to unite for a reunion concert for one night only, produced by AKW Enterprises in New York City. SkyyLine will be available January 20,2023 on a limited-edition purple fog vinyl with Salsoul Records obi-strip! Pre-orders will be available on Amazon and at Indie Stores across the USA. “It is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to re-introduce SKYY to the world and introduce SKYY and The Ladies of SKYY to a new generation.”- Austin Kwame Wilkinson, AKW Enterprises. The band recently announce the SKYY Reunion Concert in New York City at the Cutting Room on February 25th 2023. Another album listening party this week! Carrying on from last week's theme of pub rock, we turned to the post punk it helped spawn in the 1980s with one of the great English post punk bands, Gang of Four. Blending academic theory, liberal thought and philosophy, musical techniques borrowed from film, advertisement, slogans, and an undeniably catchy brand of dance punk, we listen to the forward-thinking Leeds four piece's second album, 1981's Solid Gold. Grab a copy and listen along! Get involved with the CFRC Funding Drive! (CFRC Insta) Do touch that dial and tune in live! We're on at CFRC 101.9 FM in the Kingston area, or on cfrc.ca, Sundays 8 to 9 PM!
