In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") return to discuss two major topics for the Trojan football team this off-season, the official hiring of former TCU head coach Gary Patterson as USC's new defensive coordinator and his introductory press conference and the official 2026 Big Ten schedule release. The guys start off talking about the Patterson presser where the future college football Hall of Famer met with the USC media for the first time, talking about his time away from the game, defensive philosophies and why now was the right time to come to Los Angeles and run the Trojans defense. Afterwards Ryan and Connor turn to the Big Ten schedule release and what they think of how USC's slate of games stacks up. We still do not know the Trojans week zero out of conference opponent, but we do know where the Trojans bye weeks are slated and when and where the Big Ten games will occur. SC starts conference play with a road trip to Rutgers before hosting the Pacific Northwest schools back-to-back before another East Coast road trip to Penn State. At Wisconsin and Ohio State in the Coliseum are sandwiched by bye weekends and the schedule finishes up at national champion Indiana, Maryland at home and UCLA in the Rose Bowl. In September, Dane County sought proposals to renovate the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center. They received a single response. It's from local concert giant FPC Live, which started as a small business running the box office at the Coliseum and now is largely owned by Live Nation, the world's biggest live entertainment company. In a piece for Tone Madison, Nick Pjevach, chair of the Madison Arts Commission, wrote “Dane County should apply strict scrutiny of its partnership proposal with FPC Live.” Host Bianca Martin chats with Nick about why he thinks the county should be careful when planning out the future of the publicly owned Coliseum.
Join Tommy Shaughnessy in San Francisco for the first podcast from the new Coliseum office. In this episode, Clay Robbins, Co-Founder of Coliseum, discusses how his team manages the world's largest online hackathons and why they chose to double down on the Solana ecosystem. They dive into the mechanics of sourcing 80,000 builders, the transition from remote to a massive in-person accelerator, and the shift from an infrastructure-focused crypto world to a new era of diverse consumer applications. From sub-3-hour marathons to "grenade" interview questions, Clay reveals what it truly takes to survive and win in the arena.
Matchday 20 proved why we love LaLiga: drama, surprises and competitiveness. Matt Clark (@MattClark_08) and Román De Arquer (@Aeroslavee) review a terrific weekend. A tumultuous week for Real Madrid ended positively. After the Bernabéu crowd made their discontented feelings vociferously known on Saturday lunchtime, Los Blancos laboured to a rather uncomfortable 2-0 win over lowly Levante for Álvaro Arbeloa's first win in charge. After fielding questions about “Florentino dimisión” chants, the boss angered fans further by staunchly defending his President, claiming those who want Pérez to resign aren't genuine Madridistas. This victory put pressure on Barcelona, who lined up without Raphinha and lost their winning run. La Real continued their incredible – albeit fortuitous – start under Pellegrino Matarazzo after beating Barça 2-1 through a combination of goalkeeping excellence, luck and tight VAR calls. Just 60 seconds after Marcus Rashford had equalised, Gonçalo Guedes restored their lead. Despite accumulating over 3.5 xG and 25 shots (including five to the woodwork), there was no way past Álex Remiro, who reminded everyone why he is a worthy member of Luis de la Fuente's triumvirate. The gap at the top is now just a solitary point. ¡¡¡Hay Liga!!!Real Betis beat Villarreal to take a big step towards European football next season, but we ask why there is still some dissatisfaction among the fanbase. On Friday night, Girona continued their incredible resurgence by beating Espanyol in a Catalan derby, courtesy of two Vanat penalties. Los Pericos have had a rough start to the year, but are still well placed.Onto Part Two, we focus on the compactness of the table from 8th down to 18th. Real Sociedad are ten places above Alavés, but only five points clear of their fellow Basques.Mallorca took a huge step forward by winning a thriller against Athletic Club. Jagoba Arrasate will be thanking his giant Kosovan Vedat Muriqi who scored a hat-trick to tame Los Leones. Only Kylian Mbappé has scored more this season, and Muriqi is priceless for the island side. Three goals and three precious points. We reflect on that as well as Athletic's malaise. With a crucial set of fixtures ahead, is this Ernesto Valverde's last season in charge? Osasuna won by the same scoreline but in even more dramatic fashion. Trailing twice to Real Oviedo, it seemed like the Asturian side might finally get their win. But alas, Ante Budimir equalised twice and then Víctor Muñoz broke hearts with a 92nd-minute winner. Even when they score twice, they can't even draw, let alone win.Rayo are another club looking over their shoulder after they were well beaten by Euro-chasing Celta. They won their third in a row to cement 7th spot and put pressure on those above them.Valencia stunned the Coliseum with a late, well-constructed winner with their only shot on target of the game. Getafe are in freefall now, with just one point since the end of November. Alavés made it hard for Atleti, but ultimately came away from the capital with nothing, and they slipped into the drop zone. But, given the tightness of the table, things can change extremely quickly. A relegation battle for the ages is in prospect. You can keep up to date with all our content at lllonline.substack.com. The 1976 Rose Bowl wasn't necessarily a game for Ohio State to win, but rather a coronation for their National Championship. They were facing Dick Vermeil's Bruins in Pasadena, having already battered UCLA in the regular season, 41-20 at the L.A. Coliseum. The Buckeyes were favored by 15/5 points to do it again and end their season unbeaten, untied and unblemished. However, with an opportunity to play the top ranked Buckeyes a 2nd time, Vermeil practiced hard instituting double days on his Bruins team as if it was the beginning of the season all over again. And in front of a national audience and 105,464 fans at the Rose Bowl, Ohio State went into halftime of the rematch with just a 3-0 lead. That's when Vermeil called an audible. His vaunted option offense which had scored 20 points off OSU in the first matchup, the most Ohio State had given up all season, hadn't done a thing in the first 30 minutes of the New Year's Day game. So he told his quarterback John Sciarra that in the 3rd quarter they were scrapping the gameplan… they were going to open things up and start passing. And it worked. Sciarra connected with Wally Henry for two scores the 2nd one covering 67 yards and UCLA had a shocking 16-3 lead over the heavily favored Buckeyes. A 54-yard TD run in the 4th quarter by Wendell Tyler made it 23-10 Bruins and that is how it would finish. The last Rose Bowl Woody Hayes would ever coach ended in a dramatic loss to Vermeil and his Bruins led by Rose Bowl Game MVP John Sciarra who finished the game completing 13 of his 19 passes for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. 50 years later, Sciarra recalls how he could have been the Heisman Trophy winner had the Bruins won the first meeting instead of the second one with Ohio State and how he would never trade the Heisman for that Rose Bowl win he guided his team to. He remembers how he led the team into a meeting to complain to their coach about the two-a-day practices leading up to the Rose Bowl… and tells us Vermeil's shocking answer to them that paved the way for their win. He also recollects how at the half his coach told him they were going to make adjustments and to be ready to let ‘er rip in the 2nd half. And he tells a great story about how his best buddy and fellow former UCLA QB Mark Harmon cast him in a movie and the role he was born to play! But mostly, he reminisces about the greatest half of football he and his Bruin teammates ever played on New Year's Day, 1976 on the Past Our Prime podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Ceremony: The Emperor as Collective Focal Point and Sacred Kingship — Gaius & Germanicus — In the "freezing darkness of Londinium," Gaius and Germanicus reflect philosophically on the spectacle of the new American"Emperor" (Donald Trump) attending the Army-Navy football game, with Gaius describing the theatrical pageantry of Trump's entrance flanked by enormous military officers and the overwhelming orchestrated cheers from assembled military cadets. Gaius argues that for a transcendent moment, the United States embodied the full confidence, unified purpose, and absolute power characteristic of the Roman Empire at its zenith. Germanicus analyzes this ceremonial moment through historical lens, positing that the Emperor functions as a "collective focal point" for national identity and institutional legitimacy, embodying "sacred kingship" roles that unify the entire nation in ways that republican governance structures fundamentally cannot achieve. Germanicus compares this modern ceremonial spectacle to Roman imperial tradition wherein the Emperor's physical presence at the Coliseum or the Hippodrome served vital ritualistic functions transcending mere entertainment, instead melding the Emperor, the Senate, and the populace into a singular apotheosis of unified national identity and sacred authority. Germanicus suggests that this ceremonial gathering simultaneously demonstrated American military strength while affirming the psychological necessity of embodied leadership and collective ritual in maintaining national cohesion and ideological purpose.

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's disappointing 42-27 loss at Oregon, knocking the Trojans out of the College Football Playoff picture. The loss only dropped SC two spots in the latest CFP top-25 rankings, but with three losses there is essentially no chance to climb up into the top-11 to secure one of the at-large spots. The Trojans will wrap up the regular season with an opportunity to go 9-3, facing off against crosstown rival UCLA in the Coliseum Saturday afternoon. The Bruins started the season looking like the worst team in the country, fired head coach DeShaun Foster, named Tim Skipper as the interim head coach, fired offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri, named Jerry Neuheisel as the play caller and then did the impossible, beat No. 7 Penn State. The Bruins went on to beat Michigan State and Maryland, then came crashing back down to earth, losing the last four games by a combined 129 points. The crew gives their thoughts on the concerns coming out of the Oregon game, the potential for overlooking the Bruins, where the team is health wise and Lincoln Riley's future with the USC football program. With the playoffs off the table, they also discuss which bowl games are the most likely and who some of the potential opponents could be. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans second half surge against Iowa Saturday afternoon in a soggy Coliseum. After falling behind 21-7 in the first half, USC's offense came to life and the defense shut down the Hawkeyes en route to a hard-fought 26-21 victory that keeps the dream of a College Football Playoffs berth alive. Coach Hyde talks about how this team was able to "Fight On" through adversity, falling behind early in the game and dealing with miserable weather conditions that suited the visitor much more than the home team. Sitting at 8-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play, USC has a huge opportunity heading to Oregon this weekend with College Gameday and the entire country watching. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping the Trojans 26-21 come from behind victory over the Hawkeyes in a stormy Coliseum. The weather favored the visitors, with heavy rains bogging down the playing surface and adding extra challenges to the passing attacks. Iowa jumped out to an early lead, surprisingly through the air, and kept USC off-balance for most of the first half. Head coach Lincoln Riley and his squad got things right in the second half, shutting down the Hawkeyes on offense and utilizing wide receivers Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane, allowing USC to overcome Riley's largest halftime deficit in the Coliseum. Connor and Riley have finally dried out and talk about their experiences in a rare rain game in the Coliseum and how the Trojans fought through adversity, showed some toughness and grit and delivered what Riley called a "culture win" for USC. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's victory over Northwestern on Friday night in the Coliseum, with the Trojans pouring it on in the second half. The victory was an important one where the offense got back on track and the defense for the second week in a row played much better in the third and fourth quarters. Sitting at 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Big Ten play, USC is set up for a run at the College Football Playoffs if it can win the final three games on the schedule. First up on that run for a playoff berth is Iowa, coming up a last-second loss at home to Oregon. The Hawkeyes want to slow the game down, play defense and make some plays on special teams while the Trojans like to open things up and make big plays up and down the field. It will be a clash of styles in the Coliseum with a higher spot in the Big Ten hierarchy on the line. The crew gives their thoughts on how the team performed against Northwestern and looks ahead to the showdown with Iowa. Can the Trojans build off the past two B1G victories and take down a Hawkeyes squad that doesn't make many mistakes and takes advantage of any mistakes their opponents make? Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return for another highly anticipated episode of the Helium Boys Podcast to discuss USC's big 38-17 win over Northwestern and a big homecoming matchup with Iowa this weekend. Shotgun spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' to set the mood for this matchup with Iowa and head coach Kirk Ferentz, who has directly taken some shots at head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans in recent years. Chris spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' discussing how Saturday will be a good measuring stick for USC in terms of how far the program has come since the loss to the Hawkeyes in the 2019 Holiday Bowl. The Helium Boys then dive into Stock Up, Stock Down from the home victory over Northwestern, which includes a lengthy discussion about numerology and fake punts as well as Ja'Kobi Lane's making a number of difficult catches. King Miller, Braylon Conley, Carlon Jones, Matai Tagoa'i, Makai Lemon and Jide Abasiri are among the other players mentioned positively while the offensive line had one of their worst performances of the season. In the second half of the show, Chris and Shotgun look at the Iowa Hawkeyes, coming off a narrow 18-16 loss at home to No. 7 Oregon. The Trojans will welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Coliseum for the first time since 1976, which was a 55-0 blowout win for USC. This will be their first ever meeting as Big Ten opponents. This will be a rematch of the 2019 Holiday Bowl in San Diego where Iowa dominated in the second half to a 49-24 win. Gary Danielson loves to compete. And like all elite competitors, what is never seen, or heard is the how they talk to themselves when all else is quiet. When doubters show up, they remind themselves they are playing a completely different game. Rather, an infinite one. That's Gary. For decades we have heard his voice: coaching viewers and celebrating the game. Today he joins the Y-Option podcast, fueled by our founding sponsor, 76® - keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat.I met Gary in 2018. I was calling pre-season games for the short lived Alliance of American Football League (AAF) and he was set to be the main voice on the air for the regular season. As the broadcast began I looked over my left shoulder and there he was. A legend in the business and a man studying the game, honing his craft. At halftime I said hello but was too nervous to ask legit questions, gain advice and lean into his welcoming nature. This past July that all changed. We had a profound conversation at Big Ten Media Days, one that impacted me on so many levels, and since then have been able to forge a relationship. I learned that Gary, much like the giants in college football media, are kind, thoughtful and when in the twilight of their careers—only want to help.He did. He has. When I sat down with him for this week's episode of Y-Option, I found a man who still sees the game the way a quarterback does—scanning the field, anticipating pressure, staying calm in chaos.Gary has spent decades calling the biggest games in college football—his voice layered into the sport's history like a soundtrack for fall Saturday's. But beneath the broadcast polish is a story about grit, belief, and what it means to compete when the odds say otherwise. He began as an overlooked college player who refused to give up. When the NFL didn't call, he made his own calls—writing letters to every team in the league until one gave him a shot. That moment defined him. It wasn't luck. It was conviction. And that same conviction carried him through an extraordinary second act—not as a player, but as a broadcaster who treated every assignment like a game that mattered. Week after week, year after year, he studied film, built edges of puzzles, and trusted his instincts once the lights came on. He never coasted. He never took a play off. What stands out most about Gary isn't his longevity—it's his consistency. Whether he was breaking down a play on CBS or in a production meeting with players, he has approached each moment with respect for those who play, coach and watch. He saw broadcasting as a responsibility—not just to inform, but to teach and reveal the deeper beauty of the game. Now, in his final few games on CBS, there's a grace to how he talks about walking away. He's proud, but not boastful. Competitive, but grounded. What drives him is the same thing that fueled him as a player: doing the work, earning trust, and honoring the craft. At 74, he still sees himself as a player—not because he misses the roar of the crowd, but because the mindset never left him. Compete. Prepare. Respect the game. Elevate your teammates. Finish strong. Inspire others. And always believe in yourself. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.No planes this week as have a home game with Iowa visiting USC in a game that will be won at the line of scrimmage and what should be a sold out Coliseum. Hope you enjoy another week in college football, as the regular season is almost over.As always—much love and stay steady,YogiThanks for reading Y-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth! On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping what was another impressive performance in the Coliseum, a 38-17 victory over Northwestern on Friday night. The Trojans and Wildcats were close in the first half, but an amazing defensive play by Jayden Maiava gave USC new life and sparked a 14-point swing. In the second half the Trojan defense took over, allowing only a lone field goal after the break. The crew gives their thoughts on the Trojan offense getting things rolling again, with Jayden Maiava back to his old form, King Miller rushing for over 100-yards in his first Coliseum start and Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane both bringing their 'A' games. On the defensive side, it was a rough start after Northwestern scored touchdowns on its first two drives, but after that the USC defense was able to tighten up and keep the Wildcats out of the end zone, only allowing 3 points the rest of the way. They also discuss where the 7-2 (5-1) Trojans are in the Big Ten standings, with a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoffs if they can win out. The road gets tougher over the next couple of weeks, with a tough Iowa squad coming to the Coliseum followed by a difficult road trip to Eugene to take on the No. 9 Oregon Ducks. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping Saturday night's USC's 21-17 comeback "Blackout" victory over Nebraska in Lincoln. It was not the cleanest game for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans, but it was an important result that was desperately needed. Now at 6-2 and 4-1 in Big Ten play, No. 20 USC's hopes of reaching the College Football Playoffs are still alive with three home games and one road trip to Eugene left on the schedule. The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key storylines from the game, including an amazing performance by walk-on running back King Miller. Making just his second start, Miller ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts and was the main weapon for the Trojans offense with Jayden Maiava having an off night. The defense stepped up and made plays after Nebraska's opening drive touchdown, forcing a sack/fumble that knocked Dylan Raiola out of the game and coming up big in the second half, only allowing a single field goal to the Huskers. Kicker Ryon Sayeri was also one of the stars of the evening, hitting both of his field goals including one that was just shy of 50 yards. The steady redshirt freshman from Chaminade High School has converted on 14 of his 15 field goal attempts and has been an absolute weapon for USC this season That was the Trojans second Big Ten plane ride road trip victory of the season and Riley and company have a quick turnaround, facing the 5-3 (3-2 B1G) Northwestern Wildcats Friday night in the Coliseum coming off of their bye week. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans notching an important road win in Lincoln, taking down Nebraska 21-17. Winning ugly isn't the goal, but it is much better than the alternative of losing, and with the long travel and hyped up crowd in an impressive "blackout," it was an important victory for Lincoln Riley and his squad. Coach Hyde talked about how necessary this win was for USC, going against a traditional power, a Big Ten foe that was looking for revenge after losing in the Coliseum last year, and a fan base that looked at the game as the biggest event in the state. The Cornhuskers were all in and in year's past, the Trojans likely don't win this game but Saturday night, despite not playing particularly well, USC pulled off the win. With another impressive performance by running back King Miller, Coach Hyde feels this team's identity is the run game, helped by a constantly shifting offensive line and some great tight end play. The Trojans can run the ball and that was essentially the only offensive aspect that was working Saturday night in Lincoln. Defensively Coach Hyde feels they played better, with full knowledge that Nebraska was limited offensively especially in the second half when Dylan Raiola was knocked out of the game. Coach Harvey Hyde has been part of the Peristyle Podcast since 2008 and in the USC football world he is an expert on X's and O's, personnel, coaching philosophies and recruiting. VPM News Host Lyndon German and BizSense's Jackie DiBartolomeo discuss the Richmond region's top business stories. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio previewing what is turning out to be an extremely important game for the Trojans following the loss at Notre Dame, a trip to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. The 6-2 Cornhuskers have revenge on their minds after falling to the Trojans in the Coliseum last season in what was Jayden Maiava's first start in Cardinal and Gold. For Lincoln Riley squad, this contest against Nebraska could be a turning point in the season, either by fixing the road woes and finishing strong or falling to the Huskers and once again looking for answers after losing a winnable game. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping the latest disappointing road game effort for the Trojans, getting pushed around on the line of scrimmage by the Fighting Irish in a 34-24 loss. Notre Dame ran for a ridiculous 306 including a record-setting 228 yards by ND tailback Jeremiyah Love, the most by a Fighting Irish player in the history of this series and the most ever by an ND player in Notre Dame Stadium. USC simply couldn't run the ball, gaining just 68 yards on the ground at a 2.3 yards per carry clip, and turned the ball over three times in the second half, dooming any chances of a comeback against the rival Irish. The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key storylines from the game, including the Notre Dame game plan to play a tight, physical contest all over the field and endure any pass interference calls that came along with it. The Trojans also failed to capitalize following any of the huge plays they generated, allowing the Irish to steal the momentum back almost immediately after the impressive opening touchdown drive, the Makai Lemon 42-yard reception and the Ja'Kobi Lane go ahead touchdown and two point conversion. Following the loss, USC once again fell out of the AP top-25 and once again will go into a bye week looking for answers to why the team played so poorly away from the friendly confines of the Coliseum. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back to discuss the massive win over Michigan on Saturday night in the Coliseum and how the Trojans are looking to keep the momentum going in South Bend against Notre Dame. After being labeled as "soft" following the loss at Illinois, head coach Lincoln Riley used the bye week well, circling the wagons and getting his guys ready for a tough test against the Wolverines. By the end of the evening USC was unquestionable the tougher team, winning the battles at the line of scrimmage and resetting the expectations for the remainder of the season. The guys discuss what they liked from the Trojans victory over Michigan and how they were able to bounce back after that disappointing loss in Champaign. They also give an update on the dire injury situation with the top two running backs Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders out and an offensive line that has been using a different lineup every week. There were also some national recognition for safety Bishop Fitzgerald following his two interception performance and walk-on running back King Miller who carried the load with 158 yards and a touchdown against Michigan. Miller has been special and he will likely get the first start of his career at Notre Dame. Ryan and Connor were both impressed with what USC was able to do Saturday night in the Coliseum against Michigan and both are looking for a similar effort in South Bend against the Fighting Irish. It is one thing to put it together at home, but it would mean a lot more if the Trojans could play well on the road against a ranked opponent. Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return to the podcast medium to break down USC's massive win over then No. 15 Michigan at home in the Coliseum, giving Lincoln Riley his first signature win in the Big Ten era. Shotgun spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' talking about the impressive performance by USC's offensive line, which continues to play well even without two season opening starters. Chris uses his time to talk about the electric atmosphere in the Coliseum and praise Trojan fans for their impact on the game. They then dive into Stock Up, Stock Down, which include the defensive front, Lincoln Riley, kicker Ryon Sayeri and more. The duo also discusses injuries to the running back room and the play of walk-on running back King Miller, who finished with 158 yards and a touchdown, and the dramatic second-half appearance from Bryan Jackson. USC's top running backs Waymond Jordan Jr. and Eli Sanders were both carted off the field in the first half with injuries, leaving USC with zero healthy scholarship tailbacks. Sanders will miss the rest of the season while Jordan Jr. will be out four-to-six weeks with ankle surgery. The Helium Boys dive into the second half of the show to preview USC's big road rivalry matchup with No. 13 Notre Dame. This could be the final game in the rivalry for the near future as the two teams do not have a deal to play in place beyond 2025. USC sent an amended offer late this summer toward a multi-year extension, which is more in line what the Fighting Irish wanted, but there has been no acceptance. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans impressive 31-13 victory over Michigan Saturday night in the Coliseum. Both teams came into the contest at 4-1 and both were looking to make a statement to the rest of the Big Ten conference. For USC, the need was greater after suffering that last second loss to Illinois on the road two weeks ago, and head coach Lincoln Riley used the bye week well to prepare his guys who put together their most complete performance of the season. Coach Hyde gives his thoughts on what the Trojans did differently on the defensive side of the ball to force more stops and shut down what was a very potent Michigan run game. He also talks about the penalty situation, a nagging issue for this USC squad that became a non-factor on Saturday with only three yellow flags thrown at the Trojans and non of them on defense. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and Chris Trevino are back in studio taking about how this USC football team finally put a complete 60 minute effort together, taking down the No. 15 Wolverines 31-13 Saturday night in the Coliseum. It was an extremely important game for head coach Lincoln Riley, and following that disappointing loss to Illinois he used the bye week to get his Trojans ready for what was going to be a toughest test against Big Ten powerhouse Wolverines. The Men of Troy defensively passed that test with flying colors, holding Michigan to just 109 rushing yards and 316 total yards. The offense was exceptional as well, putting up 489 yards with walk-on tailback King Miller rushing for 158 yards (8.8 per carry) and a touchdown. The crew talks about how clean of a game USC played, even with a pair of offensive turnovers. The Trojans only had three penalties on the night, none on the defense, and allowed Michigan to convert just 2 of 9 on third down. This is the podcast version of our Tunnel Vision video show. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio taking a detailed look at USC's next opponent, the Michigan Wolverines. After Michigan's early season road loss at Oklahoma, the Wolverines have been playing better football and bringing along five-star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood. USC had a great 4-0 start to the season before getting derailed at Illinois two weeks ago. Both teams have aspirations of making the college football playoff, but a loss on Saturday likely would derail those dreams. For the Trojans, this is easily one of the most important games in Lincoln Riley's tenure. With a bye week to get healthy and work on some of the Trojans defensive issues, it is imperative that Riley's squad comes out and plays good, clean football against one of the biggest brands in the Big Ten. USC has yet to have a signature win in its new conference and could get one if the Trojans can take care of business Saturday in the Coliseum. The crew talks about what USC was able to do during the bye week to get healthy while getting ready for Michigan, what some of the major matchups are against the Wolverines and finish the show with their score predictions for the game. In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods recap an exciting week six in the Big Ten, including UCLA's surprising victory over Penn State in the Rose Bowl, the biggest upset of the 2025 college football season. The Bruins shocked the Nittany Lions, marking the first time a winless program with at least four losses took down a top-10 team since 1985. Dave and Ryan then preview this weekend's slate, featuring Indiana heading to Oregon, Michigan in the Coliseum against USC and Ohio State on the road taking on Illinois. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back to discuss how the Trojans used the bye week to get healthy and prepare for one of the most important games on the schedule, a home contest against the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines. After USC fell to Illinois as a touchdown favorite, Saturday's Coliseum matchup against the powerhouse in Maize and Blue becomes an almost must-win situation for Lincoln Riley's squad, especially with road trip to South Bend on deck. The guys go over some of the key matchups for this game, including a powerful Michigan ground game that could keep Jayden Maiava and the USC offense off the field for long stretches at a time. The Wolverines also rank in the top-20 in most of the major defensive categories, including forced turnovers and passes defensed. If Michigan can slow down the Trojan run game, it could come down to Maiava outdueling the stingy UM secondary. Ryan and Connor really want to the Trojans play a clean football game, limiting the major mistakes and forcing Michigan to outplay and outscore USC in the friendly confines of the Coliseum, far away from Ann Arbor. Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return for another episode of the Helium Boys Podcast off a long bye week for the Trojans. Chris spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' talking about the marquee blue-blood matchup that will be happening in the Coliseum this weekend, a sold-out game. Shotgun takes the time to discuss his bye week activities, which featured him attending a college football game off the clock. The two analysts spend the first half of the show breaking down No. 15 Michigan (4-1, 2-0), including its elite run game and run defense. No surprise that Michigan is powered by the run game on offense, currently No. 16 in the nation at 237.8 yards per game and 6.39 yards per carry, sixth in the country. Michigan has rushed for 17 touchdowns, tied for eighth in the country with USC. Alabama transfer Justice Haynes currently leads the Big Ten with 654 rushing yards and eight scores, third in the conference. Jordan Marshall is averaging 5.2 yards per carry as the backup with three rushing scores as well. After a break, the Helium Boys talk a little bit about their recent Top 30 Most Important Trojans midseason re-rank, looking at some of the biggest risers and fallers. They also take on some listener questions with some Take It or Leave It. Finally, Shotgun is asked to blind rank some iconic Halloween and horror monsters and discusses shark cage diving.
