Send us a textDeath is not the end, but merely a transition back to where we came from. Drawing from four decades of metaphysical exploration and his own near-death experience, Dr. Douglas James Cottrell reveals the fascinating journey our consciousness takes after we shed our physical form. What happens in those first moments after death? Dr. Douglas explains that initially, you remain right where you were—in the same room, fully aware—but suddenly freed from physical limitations. Your consciousness can now move anywhere at the speed of thought. Think of the moon, and you're there. Consider a loved one, and you're instantly by their side. This "post-existence," as he calls it, mirrors the pre-existence from which we originally came. The doctor shares compelling evidence of continued consciousness beyond death, from his personal childhood experience during anesthesia to accounts of those clinically dead who later revived with detailed observations of what happened while their bodies were non-functional. These stories paint a picture of souls moving through what appears as a tunnel (possibly exiting through the third eye or heart chakra) into an expansive reality where thought becomes the primary mode of transportation. Most touching are the ways departed souls try to communicate with those still living—through flickering lights, moved objects, or most commonly, dream visitations where they appear vibrant and healthy, typically looking about forty years old regardless of their age at death. Dr. Douglas recounts how his grandfather visited him after passing, confirming his presence by manipulating the bedroom lights.Perhaps most thought-provoking is the revelation about the "celestial planning room" where souls apparently choose their upcoming life experiences, including difficult challenges that will facilitate growth. This controversial perspective suggests that all human experiences, even painful ones, serve a higher purpose in our spiritual evolution as we move through successive lifetimes gathering the full spectrum of human experience.Ready to expand your understanding of what lies beyond this physical existence? Join us for this mind-opening exploration that challenges conventional thinking about life, death, and the eternal nature of consciousness itself.Support the show

Just 30 hours after Quinton's death, Ernie felt his son's presence unexpectedly and profoundly. Quinton held his hand. This experience opened Ernie's heart, and he began to see signs from Quinton that brought him deep comfort and helped him understand that there is more to this life, or, better stated, more after this life. Support The Pod on Patreon Ernie shares his journey of grief, healing, and the deep connection he feels with his son, who continues to communicate with him from beyond. These signs inspired Ernie to write Quinton's Messages, a book that chronicles the signs and experiences he's had after Quinton's passing. In his second book, Quinton's Legacy, Ernie expands the narrative to include anecdotal evidence from others who have also experienced signs from their loved ones who have transitioned. In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss near-death experiences (NDEs) - profound experiences people have when they have been clinically dead and then resuscitated. Studies over the years of those who've had an NDE share similar characteristics or common denominators. And they can provide a powerful testimony on what we might experience in the life to come. Episode Links 1440, a group that strives to provide “a fact-driven news and knowledge resource that respects your time and intelligence,” produced an interesting video on NDEs. You can watch “Understanding Near-Death Experiences” HERE. Dr. White discussed several books you may be interested in checking out pertaining to NDEs. The one that he would most recommend is The Case for Heaven written by Lee Strobel. He also mentioned a book written by Dr. Raymond Moody, who was one of the first to study NDEs and released his pioneering work called Life After Life. Another resource you may be interested in exploring is One Minute After You Die written by Erwin Lutzer. There are a couple of podcasts that we would recommend you go back and listen to that are related to today's conversation: CCP107: On Hell and CCP77: On Angels. In 2022, he scored War Sailor, which was an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival. Volker Bertelmann has just worked with Oscar-winning director Edward Berger again on the film Conclave, which was presented at the Toronto Film Festival in 2024. Bertelmann, who in his solo work goes by the name Hauschka, is a uniquely innovative pianist; he is renowned both for his trademark sound, which he achieves by preparing the piano with various small objects, and his ability to improvise entire performances. His output is prodigious: he tours extensively, and has produced over twenty albums and EPs, both solo and in collaboration with others. He has worked, among many others, with the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he was the artist in residence, with Múm, the Icelandic experimental musical group, and with the Grammy-winning violinist Hilary Hahn. hauschka-net.deContact us: makingsoundpodcast.comFollow on Instagram: @makingsoundpodcastFollow on Threads: @jannkloseJoin our Facebook GroupPlease support the show with a donation, thank you for listening!

The British writer Kate Atkinson has had a rich and varied career since her debut novel, “Behind the Scenes at the Museum,” won the Whitbread Book of the Year award in 1996; her 14 subsequent books have included story collections, historical fiction and an inventive speculative novel, “Life After Life,” that landed on the Book Review's recent survey of the 100 Best Books of the 21st Century. But she may be best known for her Jackson Brodie series of crime novels, which began with “Case Histories” in 2004 and was later adapted into a British television show. The sixth book in the series, “Death at the Sign of the Rook,” has just been released, and from the title to the plot to the cast of characters it pays winking homage to the golden age of English cozy mysteries. Atkinson visits the podcast this week to discuss her new novel, and tells The Times's Sarah Lyall how she approached her tribute to an earlier era.

Have you ever wondered what happens to your consciousness after death? Today, Dr. Raymond Moody is going to share with us his groundbreaking work that combines nearly fifty years of afterlife and near-death experience research to provide proof of the existence of the soul in his new book Proof of Life After Life: 7 Reasons to Believe There Is an Afterlife.Moments with Marianne airs in the Southern California area on KMET1490AM & 98.1 FM, an ABC Talk News Radio affiliate! Raymond Moody, MD, PhD coined the term near-death experience in his book Life After Life. For half a century, Dr. Moody has researched some of life's greatest mysteries. As both a PhD in philosophy and an MD, he has had a strong interest in how medical realities intersect with the ineffable realm of philosophy. In his multiple roles as author, professor, public speaker and grief counselor, Dr. Moody has heard thousands of accounts of near death, shared death and after death experiences. He never expected that an interest in the afterlife would become such a focus of his life's work, but it has led him to great associations, friendships and insights. https://www.lifeafterlife.comFor more show information visit: www.MariannePestana.com#consciousliving #consciousness #consciousnessshift #nde #neardeath #neardeathexperience #OBE #soul #soulcontract #souljourney #healing #healingjourney #spirituality #mindfulness #life #lifeafterdeath
