Living in the reality of the crucified life is what opens new vistas of the possibility of the Christ life in and through you. Unless you embrace death to self, you cannot enter into deeper and fuller expressions of the Christ life. Discover more in this episode.Support the show

In this sermon excerpt, Glenn Bleakney challenges modern believers to reclaim the supernatural normalcy of miracles as an integral part of Christian faith. Drawing from Jesus' ministry and biblical teachings, Bleakney argues that miracles are not relics of the past but a living testament to God's covenant and compassion . He critiques the modern church's tendency to prioritize pragmatic “self-help” messages over Spirit-empowered transformation, urging a return to the “complete gospel” that encompasses **spiritual salvation, physical healing, and emotional restoration . Through vivid examples from Scripture, Bleakney illustrates how Jesus' miracles—from healing the sick to casting out demons—reveal God's heart to liberate humanity from every form of bondage . The sermon emphasizes that faith and expectation are keys to unlocking divine intervention, rejecting the notion that miracles are rare or irrelevant today. Bleakney also highlights the importance of intimacy with the Holy Spirit, framing miracles not as exceptions but as natural outcomes of a life aligned with God's Kingdom purposes Ideal for seekers and leaders alike, this message invites listeners to step into a faith marked by bold expectation and a renewed understanding of God's power to “shift atmospheres” and manifest His glory on earth . The Normal Christian Life and When Heaven Invades Earth The book "When Heaven Invades Earth" explores the concept of living a supernatural Christian life, where miracles, signs, and wonders become commonplace [1, 2]. The book argues that powerlessness in the church is inexcusable and advocates for raising a generation that openly displays God's power [3]. The lack of miracles in many Christian experiences is not because it is not God's will, but due to a need for a renewed mindset achievable through the work of the Holy Spirit [2]. The book emphasizes that the Kingdom of God is not just talk but power and that seeking the Kingdom should be the priority of every Christian [4]. Bringing heaven to earth is a present reality and not something reserved for a future time [5, 6]. Repentance is essential for seeing the Kingdom, moving beyond seeking forgiveness to embracing the mindset of Christ revealed in the Beatitudes [7, 8]. Faith, anchored in the unseen, enables believers to access the realities of God's Kingdom and pull those realities into the natural realm [9, 10]. Fear is equated with faithlessness, and both fear and faith cannot coexist [11]. Christians should embrace their role as ambassadors of another world, representing God's Kingdom and wielding its authority [12, 13]. The Holy Spirit encompasses the Kingdom of God, enforcing Jesus's Lordship and marking His territory with liberty [14]. The baptism in the Holy Spirit makes a lifestyle of power available, surpassing even the experiences of those under the Old Covenant [15, 16]. Bible teachers should not just speak but also demonstrate God's power, leading believers to encounters with God that change circumstances [17, 18]. The Church should prioritize seeking a Christ-like expression of life and power, not just concepts and ideologies [19]. Power and character are intertwined, and weakness in one undermines the other [20]. Christians should actively pursue a life of power, relentlessly seeking God and desiring life-changing encounters with Him [21]. Believers must learn from those who walk in power, seeking out mentors and resources that exemplify a supernatural lifestyle [22]. The absence of power in the church is costly, robbing both God and humanity of the full expression of His Kingdom [23]. Signs and wonders are essential, providing courage, confirming God's Word, and revealing the nature of God's covenant with humankind [24-26]. Spiritual warfare is unavoidable, but believers can learn to battle with supernatural authority [27]. Revival brings a greater awareness of God's dominion and its effect on society [28]. Maintaining a passionate first love for God is crucial to avoiding complacency and spiritual blindness [29]. The Church should not shy away from the gifts of the Holy Spirit or attempt to control their manifestation, but rather embrace the unpredictable nature of God's work [30, 31]. Believers are called to infiltrate society with the Kingdom of God, subtly influencing their surroundings like leaven in dough [32, 33]. Sharing testimonies of God's power can ignite faith and expectation in others, leading to further miracles [25, 34]. God's plans for the Church are beyond human comprehension, requiring believers to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance and understanding [35]. The Church should strive for wisdom, holiness, unity of faith, and a glorious manifestation of God's presence, fulfilling the prophetic promises found in Scripture [36-38]. www.TheSecondAdam.com

Preacher: John Schubert Text: Colossians 3:1-4
What is the difference between being a Bold Christian and a Normal Christian? How you live now can be impacted by what you believe about your future.
In this introductory talk, Zach frames the series. He walks through the Biblical understanding of affections–what are they, how are they like and unlike our culture's understanding of emotions, are they supposed to be positive, etc.? He then looks at Psalm 42 to show these realities being lived out.

Welcome to Episode #126 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our sixth of eight episodes in our sixteenth mini-series, The Obedience of Faith. On this episode we're going to look at an example from scripture of The Normal Christian Life. We've been exploring on this mini-series what the obedience of faith involves. Jesus made it very clear to his disciples the expectations of one choosing to follow him included discipleship for sanctification into maturity in-Christ. We've been using Ephesians 4:11-16 as our guide for what this discipleship and sanctification looks like. The gospels indicate Jesus called his disciples into service with him and they followed. The epistles and letters allude that many if not most of those who came to faith by the preaching of the apostles and disciples did not go beyond salvation in pursuit of discipleship for sanctification. They kept doing what they'd been doing if possible. The epistles and letters seem to be trying to correct the disconnect between salvation and continuing as a member of the body of Christ into good works of salvation.Fast forward to 2023. If an onlooker or someone within Christianity today tried to discern what The Normal Christian Life should look like where would one start looking? Perhaps they would look toward the two oldest Christian denominations: The Roman Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church. Both of these churches are global and trace their lineage back to Jesus Christ and the apostolic empowerment that was given by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. The Roman Catholic Church was founded in Rome with Latin as the common language. It is called the Western church. The Eastern church is Greek Orthodox, founded in Constantinople with Greek as the common language. These two churches held the monopoly on Christianity until the 16th century. In the 16th Century at the height of the Renaissance the Protestant Reformation was initiated in northern Europe. Five major denominations came out of the Protestant Reformation: Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, and Anabaptist (i.e. Mennonite, Quaker, Amish). Concurrent with the European Reformation was the English Reformation that birthed the Episcopalian/Anglican Church. What started out as large group reformations in the 16th Century resulted in exponential splintering of the church during and after the Enlightenment of the 17th and 18th Centuries. According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity about 31% of the world's population (2.5 billion people) identify as Christian. There are now over 45,000 denominations globally, 200 of which are in the United States.Trying to tie down the similarities and differences in the 200 denominations in the United States could be difficult. But, at least six categories or buckets have been identified that generalize these churches as Contemplative, Charismatic, Evangelical, Holiness, Incarnational, and Social Justice. The basis of Christian faith and doctrinal differences within these buckets are most commonly associated with varied reliance upon Scripture, traditions of the church, and human reason. With over 45,000 denominations worldwide there are likely many more buckets globally than the six just listed. Trying to tie down The Normal Christian Life in 2023 from the witness of members of any of these denominations would be difficult if not impossible.Fortunately we don't have to accept impossible, we can simply look at what the Bible says. What would the Bible have to say regarding The Normal Christian Life that would be relevant in anyway in 2023. Listen and Find Out!!
In the midst of the loss of a loved one, bad theology can sometimes make it challenging for those who are left to have confidence in the eternal destiny and security of the one for whom they are grieving. Phil and Danny discuss what it means (as well as what it doesn't mean) for a person to know they are going to heaven when they die and how we can trust God with the salvation of those who have claimed trust in Him, both for those whose lives are over and for those whose lives are just getting started! #ExperiencingGrief#SavingFaith#ChristianSecurity#Death#AssuranceofSalvation#Grace#podcast #vlog #bible #assuredbygrace #salvation #nbbc
