When God's people rediscovered His Word in Nehemiah 8, it sparked a spiritual awakening. First, they Revered and Respected it—standing in awe as it was read. Second, they Remained and Received it—listening carefully and seeking understanding. Third, they Repented and Rejoiced—convicted by its truth and comforted by God's grace. When we return to God's Word, it revives our hearts and renews our joy.

What does it mean to truly treasure God's Word in a nation drifting toward spiritual lukewarmness? In this reflective episode, Jesse Cope challenges listeners to examine their relationship with Scripture and asks whether we genuinely appreciate the freedom to read the Bible without fear of persecution—a privilege denied to countless believers throughout history and in many parts of the world today.Diving into Revelation 5, Jesse emphasizes the unparalleled uniqueness of Jesus Christ, cautioning against any teaching that elevates other figures to His level. The discussion threads through John Quincy Adams' profound wisdom that "duty is ours, results are God's," offering a liberating framework for faithful living that focuses on obedience rather than outcomes. This perspective transforms how we approach both our spiritual walk and our responsibilities as citizens. The episode unveils surprising insights from Thomas Jefferson's writings about Christianity, challenging modern misconceptions about our founding fathers. "Had nothing been added to what flowed from Jesus' lips, the whole world would at this day have been Christian," Jefferson wrote, revealing a deep appreciation for Christ's teachings that rarely appears in contemporary education. These historical threads connect to powerful accounts of Medal of Honor recipients whose courage exemplifies the highest ideals of sacrifice, followed by sobering historical accounts of religious persecution that highlight the preciousness of religious liberty. As our culture increasingly distances itself from biblical foundations, Jesse encourages listeners to strengthen relationships between Christians and conservatives across all spheres of influence—from family and education to business and politics. The spiritual battle for America's soul continues in each generation, requiring intentional effort to uphold the principles that once defined our national character. Whether you're a longtime listener or newcomer to the American Soul Podcast, you'll find both challenge and encouragement in this thoughtful exploration of faith, freedom, and our collective heritage.Support the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribe

Today's podcast answers a question from someone who endured painful experiences at an early age and is struggling to understand how they can find their way back to a healthy place in the church, with God, and as a healthy orthodox Christian. Traumatic experiences leave us feeling bad, shameful, and defective. We often have to come to realize that it was the experiences that were deeply flawed, not us. Trauma teaches us to expect far more of ourselves than God would ever expect.
If Christianity had a calling card or catchphrase, John 3:16 would be it. It's the most condensed and impactful presentation of the gospel message that we have in our collective vocabulary, and because of that it has been plastered and printed on everything from athletes' eye black to fast food drink cups. But is it possible that our familiarity with this incredible verse has actually turned into unfamiliarity?By doing a deep dive on three key words that the apostle John uses, Cody invites us to rediscover the beauty of John 3:16, and learn that the verse doesn't mean something different than we originally thought, but it does mean so much more.
In this sermon excerpt, Glenn Bleakney challenges modern believers to reclaim the supernatural normalcy of miracles as an integral part of Christian faith. Drawing from Jesus' ministry and biblical teachings, Bleakney argues that miracles are not relics of the past but a living testament to God's covenant and compassion . He critiques the modern church's tendency to prioritize pragmatic “self-help” messages over Spirit-empowered transformation, urging a return to the “complete gospel” that encompasses **spiritual salvation, physical healing, and emotional restoration . Through vivid examples from Scripture, Bleakney illustrates how Jesus' miracles—from healing the sick to casting out demons—reveal God's heart to liberate humanity from every form of bondage . The sermon emphasizes that faith and expectation are keys to unlocking divine intervention, rejecting the notion that miracles are rare or irrelevant today. Bleakney also highlights the importance of intimacy with the Holy Spirit, framing miracles not as exceptions but as natural outcomes of a life aligned with God's Kingdom purposes Ideal for seekers and leaders alike, this message invites listeners to step into a faith marked by bold expectation and a renewed understanding of God's power to “shift atmospheres” and manifest His glory on earth . Episode 11 – Spiritual Fruits of Small Acts – St. Thérèse and Marie: The Story of Two Cousins with Fr. Timothy Gallagher Fr. Timothy Gallagher and Kris McGregor take a look at the spiritual development of Marie, cousin of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, through her letters to Celine, and Thérèse's teachings. After Thérèse's death, Marie grew into a spiritual guide for Celine, who faced challenges in her married life. The letters reveal Marie’s assimilation of Thérèse’s “Little Way,” focusing on love in daily, seemingly small acts. Thérèse's advice, including humility, joy, and charity in daily interactions, reflects her practical approach to holiness. She urged Marie to let go of self-focus, embrace sacrificial love, and make virtuous choices in ordinary settings, even during recreation, fostering relationships through selfless acts of love. They also discuss Thérèse's transformation of spiritual attitudes prevalent in her time, such as the lingering effects of Jansenism. Thérèse believed in God's merciful love over fear and judgment, demonstrating a path to holiness accessible to all, even in mundane tasks. Her counsel to “forget oneself” and focus on love for God and others highlights her conviction that profound spiritual growth lies in simple, consistent acts of love. Discerning Hearts Reflection Questions * Spiritual Growth Through Relationships: How can I guide others spiritually while remaining open to my own growth in faith? * Embracing Humility: In what ways can I practice humility by seeking forgiveness, even when I am not at fault? * Living the “Little Way”: How can I fill the small, everyday moments of my life with love and intentionality? * Overcoming Self-Focus: What steps can I take to forget myself and center my thoughts and actions on loving God and others? * Finding Joy in Sacrifice: How can I offer small sacrifices in my daily interactions as acts of love and charity? * Sanctifying Ordinary Activities: How can I approach routine or recreational moments with the same fidelity and virtue as prayer or work? * Being Cheerful for Others: How can I bring joy and encouragement to others, even when I am facing personal sadness? * Rediscovering God’s Mercy: How do I view God’s love and mercy, and how can I overcome fears rooted in a harsh image of God? * Reflecting on Daily Duty: How does my approach to daily responsibilities reflect my love for God and commitment to holiness? * Building Virtuous Relationships: How can I intentionally foster love, patience, and kindness in my relationships, following the example of Thérèse? About this Series Fr. Timothy Gallagher reflects upon the enduring legacy of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, exploring how her life and spirituality were deeply influenced by her family and how it offers profound insights into everyday holiness. He examines the role of family and spiritual friendships in nurturing faith, the importance of compassionate care for others, and how Thérèse’s example can inspire listeners to seek sanctity in their daily lives. He also brings forth more details of the spiritual bond between the Martin and Guérin families, offering a model for fostering deeper connections within one’s own family and community. Father Timothy M. Gallagher, O.M.V., was ordained in 1979 as a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, a religious community dedicated to retreats and spiritual formation according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Fr. Gallagher is featured on the EWTN series “Living the Discerning Life: The Spiritual Teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola.” For more information on how to obtain copies of Fr. We conclude the Sermon on the Mount in this podcast and look at the Solid Foundation upon which to build our lives. That Solid Rock is Jesus and what he has just taught in the previous chapters of Matthew 5 to 7. We conclude with a look Peter's declaration about Jesus and the risk of rejecting the Rock - the chief cornerstone. Jesus was God sent to this world to teach us about God and what he is like. We would do well to pay close attention to this major teaching Jesus gave. He said it best. To ignore it is like building your house on the sand. In this episode of ReDiscovering God we talk about four more of Jesus's Wisdom sayings in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7. We begin with Prayer and shed light on a verse that is often misapplied with the idea that if we pray and keep asking, seeking and knocking God will answer. When that doesn't happen people often get discouraged and give up on prayer and God. The Golden Rule is the teaching of Jesus that sums up the intent of the law and the prophets. There would be no violence if this teaching was practiced by everyone. This is what it means to be in His Kingdom. We reveal what Jesus meant when he said that the gate is narrow that leads to life. In conclusion we discuss the result of teachings that bring good or negative fruit in the life of those who practise them.

And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. In this episode of the Rediscovering God series we continue in the Sermon on the Mount and discuss what it means for us to be salt and light. Then we discover how Adventism has misunderstood and misapplied Jesus statement about fulfilling the law and learn what Jesus was doing was referring to the prophecies of the Old Testament and how the had fulfilled them which would give his following teaching credibility. It in fact is not a statement about the importance of the ten commandment law as is usually the interpretation of this statement by Jesus. In this episode of Rediscovering God we complete the remaining beatitudes in Matthew 5. Blessed are the Merciful, Pure in Heart, the Peacemakers and the Persecuted. In each one we describe what it is not referring to, then what it means and then how we find it in Jesus life. We conclude with a look at how God is each of these beatitudes. As Christians we are assured that as we grow in relationship with Jesus we will also become these attributes rather than something we are to strive for. Welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven where these attitudes prevail. The pdf of this episode can be found at www.rediscoveringgod.ca

In this insightful episode of the Her Promise Circle Podcast, Michal tackles a common struggle many face: becoming casual with the things of God after achieving life's milestones. She delves into how we often find ourselves in a mundane routine, forgetting that we once prayed fervently for the very blessings we now have. Is there more? Of course there is! The great God we serve is always moving and preparing us for His plans. Michal reminds listeners of the importance of being present and not getting caught up in worrying about the future or dwelling on the past. She emphasizes focusing on God's greatness and His constant, good thoughts towards us. By staying present, we can recognize that God is always moving in every moment with the same power and love we read about in the Bible. March 20th, 2024 St. James's Church, LondonVideo: https://youtu.be/QuicgRaE7E8In this talk, Rupert Sheldrake explores the theme of finding God again, in an increasingly secular society. Drawing from personal experiences in India and his journey through various spiritual traditions, Rupert provides insights into anatheism, or returning to God, and how this process is unfolding in a post-Christian world. He touches on the connections between science and spirituality, the value of pilgrimage and sacred places, and the emerging concept of panpsychism, which considers consciousness as a fundamental quality in nature. An engaging Q&A session with the audience dives deeper into perennial philosophy, the role of feminine energy in Christianity, and the impact of psychedelics on spiritual practices.
After being lost for over 1000 years, more and more people are finding the kingdom message again thanks to our predecessors like Martin Luther and the Anabaptists. It's up to us to make sure this gospel message of the kingdom is never lost again.
The gospel message of the kingdom was largely lost for over 1000 years as it was considered too crude and hedonistic. However, these excuses do not hold weight when we examine the scriptures and information available to us. Thankfully, God's gospel message of the kingdom is found again!
There are several reasons that the message of the kingdom has been lost over the centuries. One reason is that the kingdom is too Jewish. However, we do not need to reject the Jewish roots to embrace God's coming kingdom.

We are citizens of heaven in the sense that a place is prepared for us in God's kingdom that will descend to earth. But we are also ambassadors for God's kingdom today. As such, we must let others know about the kingdom and show them what it looks like to be a kingdom citizen.
Every kingdom has a ruler, land, and followers. God's kingdom is no different. Jesus will be the king and hand it back to God. The earth is the land and the saints are the followers.

He highlights his belief that the contemporary church often veers away from the biblical blueprint, stressing the significance of perceiving the church as a family and bride before assuming the roles of a body or army. Doug also explores the transition towards a more relational and organic church model, and recounts a remarkable supernatural encounter that led him to meet his wife.https://unrefinedpodcast.com5foundationsbook@gmail.comTimestamps:[00:01:09] Doug's background and journey to faith[00:07:28] Living in Los Angeles and reasons for moving back[00:09:35] The journey to faith and writing the book[00:10:39] Teaching and writing the book[00:12:57] The five foundational identities of the church[00:20:23] The importance of community and building strong communities of Christ followers[00:21:35] The emphasis on modeling rather than just teaching in the church[00:23:17] The danger of idolizing past movements and traditions in the church[00:30:34] The importance of the field before the building[00:32:31] Changing the focus from receiving to giving in church culture[00:38:08] Unity and collaboration among different churches[00:41:37] The shift towards house churches[00:44:26] Unity in the church through mission[00:48:47] The importance of the great commission and the great commandment[00:51:32] Meeting Wife and the Heavy Metal Church[00:53:04] Hearing the Audible Voice of God[00:56:18] The Importance of Organic Church[01:01:21] Reaching out to DougThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4656375/advertisement
