Dr. N.T. Wright joins us to dismantle Western Christianity's Platonized afterlife theology and reclaim the Bible's actual vision: God renewing all creation. In this essential conversation for pastors and church leaders, Wright explains how the early church absorbed Greek philosophy's "souls escaping to heaven" instead of maintaining the biblical hope for resurrected bodies in a renewed heaven and earth. He traces how this wrong turn led to moralizing salvation, paganizing atonement, and sidelining the church's responsibility for justice, beauty, and reconciliation NOW.Wright unpacks Ephesians' three-movement vision (1:10, 2:10, 3:10): heaven and earth united in Christ, the church as God's workmanship displaying new creation, and believers revealing God's multi-colored wisdom to spiritual powers. He addresses the "angry God" caricature, clarifies substitutionary atonement, and offers practical wisdom for leading congregations into renewal through prayer, beauty, and courageous witness.Links:Website: https://innovativechurchleaders.org/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@InnovativeChurchLeaders Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InnovativeChurchLeaders/ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/catalyzingcommunity/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/innovativechurchleaders LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/innovative-church-leaders/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@innovativechurchleaders N.T. In this episode of ReDiscovering God we continue to look at the view that Moses has of God as described in the first five books of the Bible and the view of God that Jesus gave in the New Testament. When we look at them beside each other the contrast is amazing. Not that Moses' witness is invalid because he was able to move the view of people be more civilized and follow closer to the way God was calling them to be. But the essential part is to realize that is not where it ends. Jesus comes and reveals a view of God that is so amazing. Especially as it is seen in contrast to Moses's view. When God's people rediscovered His Word in Nehemiah 8, it sparked a spiritual awakening. First, they Revered and Respected it—standing in awe as it was read. Second, they Remained and Received it—listening carefully and seeking understanding. Third, they Repented and Rejoiced—convicted by its truth and comforted by God's grace. When we return to God's Word, it revives our hearts and renews our joy.

What does it mean to truly treasure God's Word in a nation drifting toward spiritual lukewarmness? In this reflective episode, Jesse Cope challenges listeners to examine their relationship with Scripture and asks whether we genuinely appreciate the freedom to read the Bible without fear of persecution—a privilege denied to countless believers throughout history and in many parts of the world today.Diving into Revelation 5, Jesse emphasizes the unparalleled uniqueness of Jesus Christ, cautioning against any teaching that elevates other figures to His level. The discussion threads through John Quincy Adams' profound wisdom that "duty is ours, results are God's," offering a liberating framework for faithful living that focuses on obedience rather than outcomes. This perspective transforms how we approach both our spiritual walk and our responsibilities as citizens. The episode unveils surprising insights from Thomas Jefferson's writings about Christianity, challenging modern misconceptions about our founding fathers. "Had nothing been added to what flowed from Jesus' lips, the whole world would at this day have been Christian," Jefferson wrote, revealing a deep appreciation for Christ's teachings that rarely appears in contemporary education. These historical threads connect to powerful accounts of Medal of Honor recipients whose courage exemplifies the highest ideals of sacrifice, followed by sobering historical accounts of religious persecution that highlight the preciousness of religious liberty. As our culture increasingly distances itself from biblical foundations, Jesse encourages listeners to strengthen relationships between Christians and conservatives across all spheres of influence—from family and education to business and politics. The spiritual battle for America's soul continues in each generation, requiring intentional effort to uphold the principles that once defined our national character. Whether you're a longtime listener or newcomer to the American Soul Podcast, you'll find both challenge and encouragement in this thoughtful exploration of faith, freedom, and our collective heritage.Support the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribe

Today's podcast answers a question from someone who endured painful experiences at an early age and is struggling to understand how they can find their way back to a healthy place in the church, with God, and as a healthy orthodox Christian. Traumatic experiences leave us feeling bad, shameful, and defective. We often have to come to realize that it was the experiences that were deeply flawed, not us. Trauma teaches us to expect far more of ourselves than God would ever expect.

If Christianity had a calling card or catchphrase, John 3:16 would be it. It's the most condensed and impactful presentation of the gospel message that we have in our collective vocabulary, and because of that it has been plastered and printed on everything from athletes' eye black to fast food drink cups. But is it possible that our familiarity with this incredible verse has actually turned into unfamiliarity?By doing a deep dive on three key words that the apostle John uses, Cody invites us to rediscover the beauty of John 3:16, and learn that the verse doesn't mean something different than we originally thought, but it does mean so much more.
In this sermon excerpt, Glenn Bleakney challenges modern believers to reclaim the supernatural normalcy of miracles as an integral part of Christian faith. Drawing from Jesus' ministry and biblical teachings, Bleakney argues that miracles are not relics of the past but a living testament to God's covenant and compassion . He critiques the modern church's tendency to prioritize pragmatic “self-help” messages over Spirit-empowered transformation, urging a return to the “complete gospel” that encompasses **spiritual salvation, physical healing, and emotional restoration . Through vivid examples from Scripture, Bleakney illustrates how Jesus' miracles—from healing the sick to casting out demons—reveal God's heart to liberate humanity from every form of bondage . The sermon emphasizes that faith and expectation are keys to unlocking divine intervention, rejecting the notion that miracles are rare or irrelevant today. Bleakney also highlights the importance of intimacy with the Holy Spirit, framing miracles not as exceptions but as natural outcomes of a life aligned with God's Kingdom purposes Ideal for seekers and leaders alike, this message invites listeners to step into a faith marked by bold expectation and a renewed understanding of God's power to “shift atmospheres” and manifest His glory on earth . Francis Chan delivers a profound and challenging sermon, addressing the cultural shift in the church toward self-promotion and performance. Using Scripture and personal testimony, he calls believers to restore sacred practices like communion and public Scripture reading while embracing the mystery of God's love. This message was originally shared at the Fire in Our Bones Pastors Conference on March 1, 2024.
We conclude the Sermon on the Mount in this podcast and look at the Solid Foundation upon which to build our lives. That Solid Rock is Jesus and what he has just taught in the previous chapters of Matthew 5 to 7. We conclude with a look Peter's declaration about Jesus and the risk of rejecting the Rock - the chief cornerstone. Jesus was God sent to this world to teach us about God and what he is like. We would do well to pay close attention to this major teaching Jesus gave. He said it best. To ignore it is like building your house on the sand. In this episode of ReDiscovering God we talk about four more of Jesus's Wisdom sayings in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7. We begin with Prayer and shed light on a verse that is often misapplied with the idea that if we pray and keep asking, seeking and knocking God will answer. When that doesn't happen people often get discouraged and give up on prayer and God. The Golden Rule is the teaching of Jesus that sums up the intent of the law and the prophets. There would be no violence if this teaching was practiced by everyone. This is what it means to be in His Kingdom. We reveal what Jesus meant when he said that the gate is narrow that leads to life. In conclusion we discuss the result of teachings that bring good or negative fruit in the life of those who practise them.

Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. We've chosen knowledge over life, but God offers transformation. Just as in the early days of the Church, He purifies to usher in a new era. Witness this throughout scripture as Kris highlights where God's justice restores and redeems. God invites us all to His mercy seat, where confession meets transformation. In this insightful episode of the Her Promise Circle Podcast, Michal tackles a common struggle many face: becoming casual with the things of God after achieving life's milestones. She delves into how we often find ourselves in a mundane routine, forgetting that we once prayed fervently for the very blessings we now have. Michal discusses the societal checklist we are given as young girls—finish school, go to college, get married, buy a home, have kids—and poses the question, "What happens after you've achieved all of this?" Is there more? Of course there is! The great God we serve is always moving and preparing us for His plans. Michal reminds listeners of the importance of being present and not getting caught up in worrying about the future or dwelling on the past. She emphasizes focusing on God's greatness and His constant, good thoughts towards us. By staying present, we can recognize that God is always moving in every moment with the same power and love we read about in the Bible. Tune in to be encouraged and inspired to see God's hand in every aspect of your life, appreciating the answered prayers you live in daily. March 20th, 2024 St. James's Church, LondonVideo: https://youtu.be/QuicgRaE7E8In this talk, Rupert Sheldrake explores the theme of finding God again, in an increasingly secular society. Drawing from personal experiences in India and his journey through various spiritual traditions, Rupert provides insights into anatheism, or returning to God, and how this process is unfolding in a post-Christian world. He touches on the connections between science and spirituality, the value of pilgrimage and sacred places, and the emerging concept of panpsychism, which considers consciousness as a fundamental quality in nature. An engaging Q&A session with the audience dives deeper into perennial philosophy, the role of feminine energy in Christianity, and the impact of psychedelics on spiritual practices.
