Dr. Teague is a dedicated wife and mother of four who became a published author of a wonderful book titled Motherhood, Medicine, and Mayhem. First, Dr. Teague discusses her work at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, and her journey to becoming the director of internal medicine. (2:03) Dr. Teague then addresses the main issues she sees in healthcare today, and the biggest challenges providers face (https://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/op-ed/article73382217.html) in today’s changing field with the Affordable Care Act. (5:24) Dr. Teague then reveals one thing she would change going on in medicine right now. (8:28) The episode then breaks for a bit of White Coat Wisdom with Will Koster, CFP®. In this episode, Will takes on the subject of physician mortgage programs. These programs are designed to be flexible to meet the unique needs of physicians, who often carry larger than normal debt loads and where training may hinder their ability to save for a down payment. SunTrust Physician Loan program offers 100% financing for homes up to $750,000 with no private mortgage insurance. These programs often come with a credit score requirement. If you are a physician in the market for a new home, you'll want to consider if a physician loan is right for you. (10:17) As we rejoin the conversation, Dr. Teague explores the immense issues of physician burnout, depression, and anxiety. (12:07) This leads to a discussion about the generational differences with respect to these issues within the medical community. (15:55) Dr Teague then wraps up the episode by exploring the affect consolidation in the healthcare industry has had on doctors and how one doctor can still make a difference in the world of massive healthcare systems. This week we are continuing with Big Bands Live Part 2. The music comes from a CD set called Big bands live. Each CD had 5 or 6 selections from different bands recorded live while they were appearing on location. I produced these two shows about nine years ago so if the introductions sound a little strange that's why. But introductions aside, there is some really nice recordings in this set and luckily there was enough music for two programs. On Part Two of Big Bands Live we'll be hearing the bands of Harry James, Woody Herman and Artie Shaw. I hope you enjoy these live recordings by some of the great big bands. I am joined by my close friends Junis Baldon, Albert Shumake aka DJ Always, and introducing to the show, Jared "J Dub" Williams. On Part Two, we begin with the amazing year in black television with the rise of Donald Glover's Atlanta, Issa Rae's Insecure, and why Marvel's Luke Cage was one of the best shows of the year. We also discuss the controversy surrounding Birth of A Nation and how it led to the film being such a letdown this year. We also fell down a rabbit hole and debated the value of Ava DuVernay and the 13th documentary, because of Junis' issue with the historical inaccuracies of the move Selma. We conclude 2016 with the two biggest stories of the year - the deaths of unarmed black men, and of course, the election of Donald Trump. I say this a lot, but this was definitely one of the most enjoyable shows to create, and I know you will enjoy it! TELL A FRIEND.
