Check Alan out here: www.alanwalkermusic.net Born and raised in New York City, Alan Walker has been playing in clubs there since the mid-80s, with his first show at CBGBs and his first band Club Iguana. He is the former lead singer and piano & organ player of rootsy/melodic pop band, The Brilliant Mistakes, who were aptly named after a song by one of their songwriting mentors, Elvis Costello. The Brilliant Mistakes had a great run starting in 1993, releasing three albums (two with Schleifer producing) before stopping in 2012. The band frequented the downtown NYC club scene and, at one time, was a WFUV favorite, appearing live there as well as with Jerry Treacy on his 'Crash on The Levee' radio show. They were played by David Dye on WXPN's World Cafe as well as on Vin Scelsa's Idiot's Delight and performed at SXSW for a few years. Alongside his musical career, Walker works full time in book publishing (VP of Higher Education at Penguin Random House). He spoke more about it all in a 2019 podcast interview with Center Stage with Pamela Kuhn, who says he, "has put the polish on life as a popular musician while having an extended and successful livelihood in publishing... Every great composer has their own love of the marriage of music and word. And I can't help but feel that Alan Walker has kept his creativity fresh with his day 'gig' at Penguin Publishing that keeps honing his skills."Although the city definitely had an effect on who Alan Walker is, the songs he writes, and certainly the musicians he has become most closely involved with, he says, "I get just as much inspiration from being in the country, outdoors hiking with my dogs or on a road bike. I'm half city, half country boy, having grown up in NYC and the hills of Western MA. I'd like to think there is both humor and a subtle edge to my lyrics, which may be the city side of me, and also melancholy in my melodies, which is the country part, but then again, maybe it's not so simple, and it's all mixed up in the soup that my songs come out of." A Little Too Late is a follow-up to Walker's 2019 debut Something Up My Sleeve and will be released on June 28 on Aunt Mimi's Records.

https://redlotuswellnesscenter.com/Kristin Althea O'Connor, M.Ac., L.Ac. is a woman with a kind heart who has always wanted to see people thrive. She loves nothing more than having the opportunity to provide a safe healing space for all ages and to assist on the journey towards helping each patient find her/his/their truest self. She adores being part of a team, creating a success story in place of what once felt like a bleak struggle. She's kind of a health cheerleader, this one.Kristin's practice has always focused on mental health, postpartum health, trauma, chronic conditions, and addiction. Is there anything more beautiful than to work with someone to pull them from the dark into their light and to see them shine in the way only they can? Kristin would say no. Because of this, people who want better for their lives and believe they will find it are the ones that are drawn to her treatment space. Kristin's favorite modalities to produce change are five element acupuncture, medical qigong (especially for distance healing treatments), and essential oils. In 2023 she completed her International Pediatric Specialist training because she yearned to share this medicine with children to create profound change from such a young age.Kristin utilizes the following tools in her treatments:Five Element AcupunctureMedical Qigong Essential OilsCuppingMoxibustionGua shaShonishinTui naChinese Stone MedicineAdditional Details on Kristin's Studies:FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTUREIn her lifelong quest to help others shine, Kristin found a winning vehicle for this in Five Element Acupuncture and enrolled in the Master's program at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL. She chose this school for two big reasons: 1. Five Element Acupuncture gets to the root of dis-ease, and she wanted her patients to find deep, lasting healing. 2. This school flies in instructors from all over the world to share insight on their own private practices, so Kristin could learn from the best. She thrived there and served as class representative, graduating in 2010. During her time in school she learned cupping, moxibustion, and gua sha. This beautiful, powerful medicine is specialized and as such, Kristin is one of only two Five Element Acupuncturists in Western MA.PEDIATRIC ACUPUNCTURESeeing the profound effects of her practice and having children of her own spurred an interest in Pediatric Acupuncture. In 2023 Kristin completed the International Pediatrics Specialist training held by world-renowned practitioner Rebecca Avern. Kristin is thrilled to help children of ages address chronic conditions, trauma, and mental health struggles to live a better life. She learned shonishin and tui na during this time, and is thrilled to offer non-needle options to those nervous to start with needles. She has a special love for treating children with ASD. She is the only acupuncturist in her area focusing on children's mental health and trauma.MEDICAL QIGONG & DISTANCE HEALING TREATMENTSWhen Kristin started acupuncture school, she became deeply inspired by Medical Qigong, which is, in short, healing patients without needles. Kristin studied with Paul Fraser, L.Ac., who had learned the practice 20 years earlier to put his aggressive cancer diagnosis to a halt. She continued on, learning from Paul's teacher Tom Tam of Boston, and then from internationally-beloved Master Ou. The form she learned from Master Ou, Pan Gu Shen Gong, is a form focused on increasing the benevolence of the practitioner. It's Kristin's favorite form and the one she practices almost exclusively, and the form she...

Tom Morley emailed around St Patrick's Day: "Marc, Our Chattanooga - based band Stringer's Ridge played a concert on St. Patrick's Day at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. (I am there on the faculty at the famous folk arts school usually once a year teaching beginning or intermediate Irish Fiddle.) We had a wonderful crowd and it was a great way to spend the best Irish day of the year! I am enclosing several photos of us at the historic Keith House where we put on the concert. (Tom Morley - fiddle, Fran Morley - bodhran, Bryant Haynes - guitar) Thanks for all you do to promote Irish trad music!" STRINGER'S RIDGE Marilyn S. Hansen sent a photo about Easter Rising Band: "14 seminarians got together years ago in St. Louis and developed an Irish band. Most of them are married now. They play at each other's weddings, but they also have regular gigs. The interesting part is how their kids take part… This is last year‘s celebration. I was out of town this year celebrating my sister's birthday the day before St. Patrick's Day. Thought I'd send you last year's photo. I'll send you a few that they've sent to me for this year. EASTER RISING BAND Pete Watson emailed St Pat's photos: "Hi Marc, The Bookends had a fabulous time playing a number of shows throughout Ontario around St. Patrick's Day.Attached is a photo of Miriam (left) and Cait (right) on St. Paddy's Day for our gig at The Rec Room, Toronto, with our regular special guest bodhrán player extraordinaire, Romano Di Nillo.Romano is just back from 4+ years with Come From Away on Broadway and we were so glad to have him with us for these shows. The venue was handing out some "paddywhackery" to attendees and these 3 couldn't resist putting some on!" THE BOOKENDS-PETE WATSON Bruce Cummings, a Piper emailed a photo: "Hey Marc!Just to say how much I enjoy listening to the Celtic music you provide. You asked for pictures from St. Patrick's Day 2023, so here's a couple. I am part of the Lane Fire Brigade Pipes and Drums in Eugene Ore. We had a great weekend piping in the area.Keep up the good work!" BRUCE CUMMINGS PIPER Jim O'Connor of Boston Blackthorne emailed a photo: "Hi Marc -hope you had a fabulous holiday! Boston Blackthorne played 3 nights in Western MA, centered around St Patrick's Day as well as the big parade (the nation's oldest) in Holyoke MA.We played to crowded enthusiastic fans in Northampton MA and Holyoke MA.But perhaps the best gig (and story) was the one that arose spontaneously back in the lobby of our hotel after our St Pat's evening show. The hotel lobby is most frequently empty but this night is was crowded with about 100 boisterous folks from Minnesota, visiting Massachusetts to support a Women's college Hockey team. We were approached by the unofficial spokesperson who pointed at our guitar and fiddle and asked, “Can you really play those?” I answered of course we can, and this is your lucky night! Not only has your party been invaded by musicians, we are an Irish band and this is St Patrick's Day! We proceeded to unpack our instruments and did a set of singalongs like Charlie on the MTA for the Boston connection.Halfway through the set our wives came into the lobby -my wife grumbled to Pete's wife, “This party is going to keep us up all night!”Pete's wife Maureen looked a little closer and exclaimed, “Hey that's Jim and Pete in the center of it all!”They joined the fray, we had the best gig of the year playing for this group of strangers from the Midwest, wonderful folks who doubtless went home with a great tale and the definition of the work “Craic!” JIM OCONNOR

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #145 Dave Kopacz Red Pill Politics Radio Flag Day/2A Rally I met Dave Kopacz a few years ago when I was helping a friend run a campaign for state senate. He's been fighting for our Rights in Massachusetts for a number of years now. For the last 8 years, he's been hosting the Flag Day/2A Rally, which is going to be on June 11, 2022, at the Century Sportsman Club in Auburn, MA. Some of the scheduled speakers are Dan Wos (RSWC #040 ), Jared Yanis (RSWC #051 ), and Jan Morgan, as well as yours truly. Dave tells us that he's got some great memories and lessons from going hunting with his grandfather even when they didn't harvest any animals. This is where he learned things from how to be a man, how to treat a woman, and how war starts. He shares that history shows us that unarmed nations often get taken over by the governments. And that our elected officials think the 2nd Amendment was about deer hunting. It's not about that, it's about killing tyrants. While working with one of his sons on a home school project and connected with a local radio station, Dave put in a show proposal. He would take his kids to the radio station while he was doing the show. And that is how Red Pill Politics started. Despite being in very liberal western Massachusetts, the show has grown and he's started taking calls from around the country, including Canada. There were even some openly socialist hosts of other shows on the station and they asked Dave to be on their programs. He's got two weekly shows that he does: Red Pill Politics that he does with his wife, and another show on Republic Broadcasting Network. He takes calls from around the country and Canada, too. We get into talking about the NYC subway shooting, which happened before the show was filmed. We talk about how people can pass background checks, then still go out and break the laws. But there are also people that get firearms illegally and go out and break the laws. The issue isn't the firearms or how they acquire them, the focus needs to be evil people doing evil things. Evil people can and do commit heinous acts with and without firearms. We talk about the gun culture in western Massachusetts and the closet gun owners that aren't just Republicans, they're Democrats, too. I bring up that one passenger, DeeDee Edmondson (RSWC #023) had an easier time coming out as a lesbian than the did coming out as a gun owner. Even with the success of The Flag Day/2A Rallys, Dave tells us that there was some resistance one year. There were some folks at the sportsman club that thought they were hosting extremists. There were even some politicians who said they wanted to speak at the event, but Dave didn't let them. They tried to hold their own similar event which wasn't well attended. One of the things I really admire about what Dave does is that everything lines up with liberty, freedom, and the Constitution. He's even gone into Boston to speak out against what Massachusetts is doing not just against our gun rights, but all the others as well. If you're going to be in central Massachusetts on June 11, please come to the Flag Day/2A Rally and hear some great speakers at the event. And tune in to Dave's shows with the links below. Favorite quotes: “I believe in the strength of the whole Constitution.” “We looked at the government regulations, they're becoming limitations on the people, not limitations of the government.” “If we are unhappy with a public servant, we should be able to get them out the very first time they come up for reelection.” “The whole Constitution is kinda like this; how many legs of the table can you kick out before it becomes unstable and collapses under its own weight?” TImestamp 00:00 Intro 01:30 Dave Kopacz 02:10 9th Annual Flag Day/2A Rally beginnings 05:55 Strength of the Constitution 06:50 Memory & lessons 09:13 History 11:41 Red Pill Politics radio program 15:12 NYC subway shooting 16:40 “Evil people will do..” 20:36 An armed society 21:51 Western MA gun culture 26:27 Speaking out and up 30:15 “The government we deserve…” 31:22 Flag Day/2A Rally 2022 36:30 Legs of a table 38:55 Better Angels 43:18 Wrap up Flag Day/2A Rally Website https://www.flagday2arally.com/ Red Pill Politics YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnAkOGyeZqNzMJDQ4Wo4vbA Red Pill Politics on Republic Broadcasting Network http://republicbroadcasting.org/red-pill-politics-w-dave-kopacz/ Make America Constitutional Again Hat https://theselfevidenttruth.com/product/make-america-constitutional-again-hats/ Second Amendment Foundation http://saf.org/ Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. In this episode Amy and Amy explore how each landed in the world of color. Coming from another profession then having an "aha" moment directed each of them towards Architectural Color Consulting. This happened at different times in their lives but was a second career for both. Coincidentally, each studied Economics and Business in college but also had a lifelong interest in fine art, studying it, admiring it and creating it. From New York City to Sarasota Fl, from Upstate NY to Western MA, these women followed their passion and ended up in the same colorful place.

Just the other day I was organizing my basement and I came across my copy of "why we can't wait" by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. With all of the movement in society to push away from seeing someone for the content of their character and instead looking to fractionalize them and break them into their compnent immutable characteristics. In this podcast I discuss how following this path could very well be hurting the growth of your business and holding back the future exit value of your business. Also known as The ‘Whiskey Horror’ of Christmas, it was during the Christmas season in 1919 when primarily men in Connecticut and Western MA started falling deathly ill. Soon, the hospitals and emergency rooms were overflowing with patients in pain. Many were pronounced dead on arrival. Doctors were stretched thin as they tended to those in the hospitals, while others went into the cities and towns, making house calls and trying to treat the patients who were suffering from delusions, vomiting and in some cases, paralyzation and blindness. It's back to the movies for the Rock N Roll Archaeologist! But for the first time the film in question is a fictional narrative dramedy called, The Incoherents and it is directed by Jared Barel and stars Alex Emanuel, who also wrote most of the music. Jared and Alex break down the film and we try our best not to spoil too much, but do consider this a warning!! Maybe watch the film and then listen to the interview?Bruce Flansburgh is a bored, 40-something New York paralegal who hasn't let go of his dream of rock stardom. The group Jeff Auer as Bruce the vocalist, Alex Emanuel as Jimmy the Guitarist, Casey Clark as drummer Tyler and Walter Hoffman as bassist Kieth, each mired in some sort of midlife malaise, reunite their 90's indie rock band for one last shot at stardom.
