Harry Styles' 2022 single "As It Was" has been trending globally almost 6 months straight! BIllboard just declared it this year's Song of the Summer, also achieving historic charting. Assumed to be about his girlfriend and Don't Worry Darling co-star Olivia Wilde, "As It Was" is a personal track Harry Styles wrote about how the pandemic affected his emotions. I recap the Hot 100's #1 songs from the summer, "As It Was"' composition, and music statistics. Country singer songwriter Bree Taylor joins the show to take us behind her new good time anthem "Sha La La"! “Sha La La” tosses back a shooter of summer fun and laughter, presenting a picture complete with not only memories of days gone by, but chances… Chances to create new ones, chances to sing along, and chances to fall in love with a brand-new track from a country powerhouse in the making. For Bree Taylor, singing, writing, and performing were built into her DNA and, by the age of six, the soon-to-be breakout artist was already exhibiting signs of being a musician. Despite her hearing impairment, the youngster found her voice among choirs and eventually made her way to a recording studio in her teens. From her earliest beginnings to developing her niche, Bree Taylor found herself to be a country artist through and through — combining her passions to a sound nestled in the genre, resonating with her fans nationwide. Mandopop megastar Jay Chou has released his first album in six years, with his new song, “The Greatest Works of Art," becoming an instant hit. The music video follows an antique piano on a journey to inspire famous artists of the past.
It's Summertime, Slackers! Although it is rapidly coming to an end, this is a vacation week for me and I was thinking about the sounds of summer. I decided to discuss my own personal top 10 favorite Summer Songs, with a few “honorable mentions”.I initially had some pretty strict rules for inclusion but that was quickly discarded and some newer, looser rules used to make this list. The only hard and fast rule was songs had to have been released at a time where I could have heard them and remembered them. For me that's after 1977-78. There is sure to be some disagreement regarding my choices, so be sure to let me know what YOU think should have made the list of best Summer Songs. All these tunes have been added to the "Stuck in the Middle - Summer Songs" playlist on Spotify. Check it out!Don't forget to like, leave 5 star reviews, and most importantly, subscribe to the podcast!

One of the great things about working at an arts camp is that you get to meet like-minded creative souls. Oliver (drummer from Orange County CA) and Vero (director from San Angelo TX) are two such souls, each with a unique perspective on songwriting to share. Enjoy! Check out Oliver's band Filmspeed!
Hey Songsters! Summer is flying by! I'm away at summer camp for two more weeks, but am delighted to present this previous interview with David Bowie collaborator, tenor saxophonist, composer, and excellent dude Donny McCaslin. Enjoy!
We may be entering the last month of the summer, but it's never too late to put together a show of songs about the hottest months of the year. Rock and roll has always had a fondness for the sun, and everything else that goes with the season. So tonight you get nothing but songs about not only the season, but girls, bikes, surfing, and the beach. It's also almost a complete set of recently released material. The vast majority of these songs have been put out in the last six months, although there's always room for some old tracks that have caught my attention. This is why there's some great oldies by The Hold Steady, The Scientists, The Muffs, and M.I.A. And you really can't have a summer show without the greatness of 50's visen (and South Dakota raised) Mamie Van Doren! By the way, if you haven't seen the cult classic, Untamed Youth, you should rent it tonight! I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely helps not only pay their bills […]

I'm still at summer camp, writing songs with campers and playing for the musical James and The Giant Peach (there's nothing cuter than kids dressed as insects, singing about sticking together. For real.) This week, please enjoy this interview with Grammy-award winning songwriter/vocalist Kate McGarry. See you next week!
I'm at summer camp with my girls, writing songs and playing for musicals! This means that there won't be any new interviews for a few weeks. However, I'll be bringing you updates from camp, and segments from earlier episodes. Enjoy, and I'll be back with new songs soon!
