He lived in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Massapequa, Long Island, New York by the time he was 13 years old, and was bar mitzvahed in Brooklyn. He attained his love of collecting from his father, who collected campaign buttons. At the age of eight years old, he began selling his toys at garage sales, and took an interest in learning the relevance and history of the items, realizing he could one day make a business out of buying and selling pop culture collectibles. Gary opened his first collectibles shop, Madcity Music Exchange, selling records and music memorabilia in 1974 in Madison, Wisconsin. He sold the shop to his long time employee in 1983, and Madcity Music is still open today after over 40 years. Moving to Massachusetts, he opened Wex Rex Emporium of Popular Cultural Artifacts store in downtown Hudson, MA in 1984. He offered records, antique and collectible toys, movie and TV memorabilia, posters and other pop culture items. Gary started appearing on talk radio beginning in 1985, on WBZ-AM with David Brudnoy. He was doing what Brudnoy deemed “psychic appraisals,” since Gary couldn't see the object people called in to learn about.

Welcome to 50Talk. This is Episode 98 and your host Cathy and Victor are super happy to be back with you guys again this week. The big game was Sunday night and of course we have to talk about it. I know I personally didn't watch a bunch of NFL football this season but I have to jump in on all this Taylor Swift stuff. What did you guys think of the Usher halftime show? Was it everything you thought "The KIng Of Pop" would bring you? We have a review of all that. Enjoy this episode. With the Super Bowl being over now, we have to talk about the price for a ticket to be in the building. This event is no longer for the diehard fan. As a matter of fact I don't even think its for the casual fan. It has become a "Rich people social Event". If you don't have throw away cash your not getting in. I'm sorry to say that but that is just how it is today. The ticket prices are going up higher and higher every year and this year is no different. No, we can't blame Joe Biden for this, we look right to the big guy of the NFL. With it still being Black History Month we talk a little bit about Ruby Bridges. The little girl who was 6 years old and was the 1st black girl to break the color barrier in Louisiana back in 1960. I have an article with a reporter interviewing her about what it's like living black history. This weekend our former President put his foot completely in his mouth, or at least he should have before he let out the words he said about Captain Haley and where is he also about his ongoing love for Putin and his hatred for N.A.T.O. and those countries who he thinks don't pay enough. I'm not shocked that dummy says the things he does but damn bro. He just don't give a shit anymore. He just knows that his crazies will still support him. I want someone to come on the show and please debate me and make me understand that what Trump said is okay. Please send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com if your interested. I need this, I got a lot of stuff to get off my chest about all of this. We had another shooting out west in the "Great State of Texas" at a Super Church. Please don't let this situation be the new way these Terrorists do there mass shootings. I'll keep saying it until we get common sense gun legislation. No one should be able to walk into a church carrying a weapon of war in the United States of America. This has to stop! We end the show like we have the last few episodes with some fun questions. I continue to stump Cathy with these questions. That's why I like ending the show like this lately. One of my questions is "Do you believe in Heaven". Guess what each of us said. Thank you all for joining us gain this week. We're almost at Episode 100 so please stick with us. We've been on a roll lately putting out episodes. Thank you for listening.
