Kind of like getting naked with our truths, emotions, our vulnerabilities, and letting our shields down. That's why I created this podcast and am interviewing guys and doling out my perspective on what life after 40 is like for guys. I bring my life coaching experience, ability to help people make bold moves, and insights about facing fears so that guys don't keep having to apologize for living life their way. ***Warning - this episode contains major spoilers*** This week, Guy Branum and Margaret Wappler are joined by Bay Area comedian and two-time Emmy winning writer Kevin Avery. He was head writer on Totally Biased w/ Kamau Bell, staff writer on Last Week Tonight w/ John Oliver and writer on The Jim Jeffries Show. The gang is deep diving into Boots Riley's new movie Sorry to Bother You. Guy, Kevin and Margaret discover that, like Sorry to Bother You's Cassius Green, they all worked as telemarketers. Plus Guy reveals the film's best actor and Kevin tells us about the time he asked Boots for help on a short film. All Abouts Margaret is all about Bhad Bhabie- a troubled Florida teen turned rapper based off of a performance on Dr. Phil where she was a guest with her mom. There's this really smart analysis of the Bhad Bhabie phenomenon in the NY Times by Jamie Lauren Keiles who breaks down what she means for the entertainment industry. Kevin is all about not being about Drake's latest song and the dance challenge it spawned that's sweeping the nation: In My Feelings. The challenge even got Will Smith dancing on a bridge. Guy is all about the hard-working, talented, and badass Korean-Canadian actress Sandra Oh, who has had to work twice as hard to get half as far in entertainment. She's finally getting her due as the first woman of Asian descent to be nominated for an Emmy in the category of lead actress for Killing Eve. With Guy Branum, Margaret Wappler, and Kevin Avery. Happy holidays dear listener, and welcome back to another episode of Just One of the Guys. And even though the most recent holiday was April Fools Day (Tee-hee!), in the Green Lantern book, it's all about Christmas. Which for Kyle means monitor duty at Titans HQ, possible internal damage due to Impulse super speed tackling him, and dealing with the classic Green Lantern villain, Dr Polaris in the snazzy 90's version of his overly purple costume. But he does get to stand under the mistletoe with Donna Troy, so that's definitely a great present. Over in the Guy Gardner book, we get to unwrap the present that Major Force left in Guy's fridge...and it's not what you think. Plus Guy pounds the living snot out of Major Force as the two battle their way around the Beltway of Washington D.C. It's a giant fight sequence artfully done by craftsmen Beau Smith, Mitch Byrd, and Dan Davis, with a twist ending that will leave the internet on fire...if the internet was that prevelant during the time of publishing. So unless you want your Christmas ham served with an extra side of Vuldarian justice, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Welcome back, dear listeners to some Strange Tales dealing with Green Lantern in this week's episode of Just One of the Guys. Thankfully, there's no Human Torch story here; I leave that pain up to Steven and Andrew. But the Strange we get here is none other than Adam Strange, the Buck Rogers of the DC Universe, who is chasing down a whacked out Green Lantern who in turn is being mind controled by Ann Coulter!!! Well, not really, it's Olivia Reynolds, but it's fun to think that Ann Coulter could control people's minds. We also get child endangerment, a return to Qward, and a t-shirt slogan meant to show how big a jerk Joe Eszterhaus is. Over with Guy Gardner, we wrap up the hunt for Goldface as we get to see how clever Guy is, how stupid Piston is, and how smug Hal is. I mean really, Hal's douche-o-meter was running at eleven at points during this book. Plus Guy channels Rick James in a cunning ruse to trick the villains into thinking he was willing to off Sally. No way Guy would do that, as she's the hottest gal in Guy's life. So, with the whole choking of women vibe, I guess there's a little strange in Guy's book as well. So put down your copy of Fifty Shades of Grey (Seriously? I mean it's repurposed Twilight fan fiction!), grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!
