In this conversation episode, I sit down with Dr. Candice Stanfield Wiswell, a writer, psychologist, and ADHD writing coach, to talk about what it means to build a joyful and sustainable writing life with ADHD. We're speaking to writers who feel scattered, stuck in perfectionist loops, or frustrated by inconsistent progress. What we're exploring:✨ ADHD isn't a flaw in your writing life—it's a different way of thinking that can fuel creativity and depth. ✨ Why typical writing routines don't always work, and how to create flexible, menu-style options instead. ✨ The NICE framework (Novel, Interesting, Challenging, Extremely urgent) and how it can help you harness your brain's natural rhythms. ✨ The role of body doubling, community, and self-compassion in making writing feel lighter. What I want novelists with ADHD to remember:Your brain isn't broken—it's brilliant. You don't need rigid rules or harsh discipline to make progress. You need curiosity, permission, and practices that honor how your mind actually works. Writing with ADHD is not about fixing yourself; it's about discovering sustainable ways to nurture your creativity and finish the stories on your heart.

On this episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast powered by Speedmaster, Richard Gadson and Greg Stanfield join host Brian Lohnes to talk about their awesome victories at the NHRA Denso Sonoma Nationals last weekend. Both guys have been in peak form for several races and both had to really bushwack their way to the winner's circle. For Richard Gadson a -.001 red light on Saturday in the Pro Stock Motorcycle Call-Out final was frustrating but valuable motivation for his work on Sunday. Leveraging the disappointment of that moment into the race day success he earned is a really fascinating process to listen to. Greg Standfield won his first Pro Stock race in more than a decade by taking on his own son in the final round. A moment generations in the making for the duo, it was a race to the stripe with all the awesome tightness we have come to expect out of the category. Stanfield relives it all. Those interviews, an Insider monologue, and more. This is an episode you'll love

Ryan Coogler ("Creed", "Black Panther") escribe y dirige este largometraje, más cercano al terror y que utiliza la visualidad y la sonoridad para llegar al público. Frank Stanfield - Vampires, Gators and Wackos - A Newspaperman's LifeMay 14Teens savagely murder a couple in the name of their vampire cult.A sex-starved teacher cannot get enough of her young male student. The case of a missing child keeps cops awake at night for years after his confounding disappearance.During his decades-long crime coverage in Central Florida, journalist Frank Stanfield covered every atrocity that man or nature could unleash.Vampires, Gators, and Wackos: A Florida Newspaperman's Life recounts some of the frequently craven, and at times downright stupid, crimes Stanfield covered during his time in the field. He somehow made it through without winding up more mental than the crackpots he tracked. However, his unvarnished, no-holds-barred account of news events reveals just how crazy making a case can be when you are dead set on nailing the truth.“Here's a tip for young reporters: Don't beat the cops to a homicide. Crowds at murder scenes are sometimes wildly angry, drunk, high, confused and looking at a face that is decidedly out of place in their neighborhood. In those days we wore nice clothes, even ties, if not jackets, to a crime scene. ‘Who are you?' they asked, figuring I must be a cop, because surely, no sane person would show up unarmed in the middle of a melee.” - Frank StanfieldBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

On November 28, 1848, Isaac Jermy and his son were shot and killed in their Wymondham estate, Stanfield Hall. After a brief search, investigators located the killer, James Blomfield Rush, a tenant farmer who was leasing land from Jermy and had fallen behind on his payments. Fearing eviction and destitution, Rush concocted a plan to kill the entire Jermy family and their staff, then cast blame on Jermy's relatives, with whom the family had been feuding over the title of the estate. However, the plan fell apart when several of the victims survived and identified Rush as the killer.Thank you to the lovely David White, of Bring Me the Ax podcast, for research assistance.ReferencesBayne, A.D. 1849.
