Be sure to also hear parts 1 and 2 of Steve Meyer! Steve was more than just a record executive whose stint as National Promotion Director for Capitol Records and Universal/MC made him one of the biggest power brokers in the music industry during '70s, '80s and '90s. He worked with the biggest names in the business -- The Beatles (and Paul McCartney and John Lennon individually), Bob Seger, Steve Miller, Elton John, Little River Band, and so many other artists who defined Top 40 and Album-Oriented radio for all time. He not only worked the records, but actually played a role in which songs would be released as singles and go on to become major hits. He helped define the strategy and eventual success of the many musicians he worked with and, in turn, helped create careers that became absolutely indelible within his realms of modern music.Lee worked with Steve during his own stint at Capitol Records and considers him a mentor. As a result, the conversation he and Billy had not only makes for an informative encounter, but one well stocked with memories, musings and emotion. Material and textile matchmaking in other countries… Marni Leopold (Luxury Sales & Management – ‎Trade Commission of Peru), Lucia Palacios (Marketing and Promotion Director of Vestex, Apparel and Textile Association of Guatemala), and Mary Marino (Trade Linkage Consultant, USAID Contractor at East Africa Trade and Investment Hub), join Stephanie Benedetto and Samanta Cortes on location at Sourcing at Coterie. Powered by Sennheiser.Peru Marni Leopold (Luxury Sales & Management – ‎Trade Commission of Peru) discusses her role as a matchmaker, making introductions between USA designers and brands with Peruvian manufacturers, materials and market. How the attraction to Peru starts with quality, some of the best raw materials in the world, fibers, fabrics, and Peru has a free trade agreement, so materials are duty free. Promoting manufacturing, a trade show, how Leopold became involved, a focus on Hema Cotton and Alpaca, and a love of ceviche. Guatemala Lucia Palacios (Marketing and Promotion Director of Vestex, Apparel and Textile Association of Guatemala) shares how her organization represents textile mills, apparel manufacturers, and services and trimmings, making a fully integrated supply chain for the apparel industry. For the last 8 years the leading export industry in Guatemala has been apparel, as 50% of the value of exports. How the country is competitive in knit tops, synthetic tops has been growing, fabric mills from spinning to delivery, innovating culture, and how the country has been thought narrowly but is not just offering artisanal or handcrafted products. Palacios comments on the challenges in moving supply chain and growing, competition in Haiti, Asia, and Central America — and eating outside of Peru.East Africa Mary Marino (Trade Linkage Consultant, USAID Contractor at East Africa Trade and Investment Hub) touches on how her non-profit is a facilitator based in Nairobi, Kenya, to educate on the US and East African sides about AGOA (African Growth Opportunity Act), about duty free opportunities into the US, and how component parts can be imported and originated anywhere in the world. How her work is a matchmaking process, how East Africa offers very unusual techniques unique to that area, how much of the world incorrectly assumes language barriers, and misconceptions about AGOA such as not needing to source fabrics and trims from Africa to benefit. And how pricing is strategic in relationships and opportunities for duty free access offers advantages. Plus — Florence Italy as a second home.

Mr. Justice is based in the Philadelphia area, and he works with local and regional partners to help deliver concrete parking and street paving projects by supporting promotion, design and construction activities as well as provide training and presentations on concrete applications.   Mr. Justice is also a pervious concrete specialist or as I like to put it, a “PervMaster”, having been involved in over 300 pervious pavement projects and has spoken at hundreds of industry events, workshops and Webinars.   Prior to joining the NRMCA, Mr. Justice was the Promotion Director for the Portland Cement Association Northeast for over 10 years. His duties corresponded with many of NRMCA’s pavement promotion goals. He has promoted the use of Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) of pavements with cement as well as the use of ready mixed concrete for parking lots and related flat work. He has worked closely with architectural and engineering firms, municipal and agency officials, contractors, ready mixed concrete producers and industry personnel.   He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Villanova University in 1987 and a master’s of civil engineering from North Carolina State University in 1989. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and North Carolina and also a LEED accredited professional since 2006.

What started out as an internship at Kiss 108- Boston’s #1 Hit Music Station- soon became everything Marc ever wanted. He was patient & passed out demos to every station in New England that was within driving distance from his hometown of Somerville, MA. Eventually his hustle & positive mindset of “I will be the best” led him to his current position of Promotion Director of iHeartMedia of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as well as being on the air. Losing was never an option. It has simply been the burning fire inside of him that has allowed him to continuously get up after falling down. We discuss the importance of being honest with people, bumping into Jay-Z & Lebron James at Fenway Park, understanding that everyone will make mistakes, perspective on sacrifices not being a sacrifice if it benefits you & less talking... more listening on this week's episode. — Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new interviews (and more) weekly: http://bit.ly/2zprpon Follow us on Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/2hcSBws Subscribe to iTunes: http://apple.co/2yE0u9l Follow us on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2j82AHF Follow Bobbbaaaay on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2Ap24ce Twitter: http://bit.ly/2hj6Ljm
