This Saturday, August 31, will mark the 3 year anniversary of launching this podcast. It amazes me how fast time can fly by when you’re head down, focused and putting in that work day after day trying to build your baby into a monster. Since the jump, I’ve treated this project as if my back was against the wall and the only direction I could move was forward. The mindset was, there is no option B, we will find a way to make this work - to go all in. So what does it take to go all in? JZAC is a hip-hop artist from New Hampshire. During his sophomore year at Plymouth State University he recorded his first song on his friends Macbook internal microphone. The passion grew quickly and so he decided to go all in and bought himself recording equipment, software and began investing all of his time and energy into the craft. Graduating with an Integrated Marketing & Communications degree, he worked at a local Frito-Lays warehouse and Market Basket to continue funding the music career. What helped gain him exposure early on was creating freestyle videos that would go viral on Twitter. With all the inbound traffic he was getting from the videos, he was prepared and had some of his newest projects and singles for people to check out or music videos they could watch. Fast forward seven plus years since he started writing and recording, he’s now living in LA full-time off of his music. What he believes separates himself from other artists is his ability to be honest and authentic by telling his story and his truths. He hopes the music inspires and is relatable to what other people may be going through in their life. In this episode he discusses the importance of shooting your shot, why we must always be prepared and ready to go, why we shouldn’t be afraid to step outside of our comfort zone, hit “post” and keep it moving and even if the path isn’t clear, create the blueprint. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @JZACMusic & @PurposeintheYouth! - Connect with JZAC! I treat the content I consume on social media as if it’s a diet. I’ve been constantly cutting out all the junk and doing my best to only consume the “pieces” that are helping me, inspiring me or entertaining me. This isn’t about me trying to be the “cool” kid in town that follows less people than the number of people that follow the bearded man. This is about me getting super disciplined about the images, videos, text etc that I consume on a day to day basis. All of these pieces of content are fueling my mind and I want that premium quality baby, FILL ME UP! For the people or pages I do follow, I let their success inspire me to keep going. Thank you for the daily inspo! Seeing these people succeed in all areas of life gets me hyped! There is no time to fall into the comparison trap of getting jealous, there’s only time for me to make moves myself. If I’ve realized anything it’s that there’s enough room for everyone to win. Period. It doesn't matter what your career goals might be. If you see someone doing something you want to do, go do it. Let them be the example that it’s possible! - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @Bobbbaaaay! - Support the Bearded Man Content via Patreon! The key is creating routines that reinforce our new habits that will help us achieve whatever our goals might be. Routines Breed Habits: Write A Contract To Yourself (enforces commitment) This is what I want to do and there is no option B Stick it to your wall, background on Phone, sticky note in car Pick a certain day of week or time of day you’re going to do “the thing” (reinforces discipline) Weekly podcast, gym 6 days a week When it hits that “time” you know it’s time to do the thing Focusing In On ONE step forward TODAY (builds consistency) Forget about how long it’ll take, we’ll eventually get there Assess progress, make changes & keep going How is my progress? What’s working? What changes do I need to make? Repeat, repeat, repeat. These Habits don’t magically happen overnight, they take weeks or even months to build. In the beginning of this year I had a burnout. I had just gotten back from visiting family on the East Coast for the holidays and when I got back to LA, I put my pedal to the medal and had a breakdown. 6 months later, I’m much more conscious about how hard I work and have found ways to avoid that ever happening again. These are the 5 steps that I follow: Prioritizing My Health Physically in the gym, mentally keep a clear headspace and making sure I fuel myself with the right foods. Communicating With Family + Friends Sending a text or face timing loved ones, showing appreciation to the people that inspire me etc. Pump The Breaks! When I feel a burn out coming, I pump the break and toss in the towel for the day. Counting The Small Wins Daily Counting the 1-3 smalls win a day helps fuel the fire inside me to keep going. These small wins WILL add up! Everything Great Takes Time Being at peace knowing that it will take a lot of patience to accomplish these goals. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @Bobbbaaaay! - Enroll in Bearded Man University! Bearded Man followers! Epic interview I have to share out with you today that I did on The Wellness Hustle Podcast a couple weeks back with Kirstie Taylor. We talked about growing up in Chicopee, MA, why I launched this podcast and how important it has been to treat it as if there are 10 million people listening every week. The Wellness Hustle Podcast is about empowering a shift in focus to what truly matters: ourselves. Work hard play hard isn’t cutting it anymore; we’ve been focusing on the wrong hustle. Intended to inspire a true shift in your life, this podcast will cut through the wellness BS that’s out there, chat with industry leaders, and have candid talks with real people who went through real struggles and how they overcame them. Real talks. Real advice. Real change. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @WanderWithKirstie & @Bobbbaaaay! - Connect with Kirstie! Gianni DeBernardo and Kyle Devore are recording artists that work together as a duo called gianni & kyle. They recently wrapped up their first tour opening for Hoodie Allen in 30+ cities across the US and 9 cities in Europe. Their plan for the rest of 2019 is to keep putting out music that they enjoy creating and hopefully lock in their first headlining tour come this fall. Kyle was born in Long Beach, CA and moved to Annapolis, MD when he was in 6th grade where he & Gianni were both raised. It wasn’t until their freshman year of South River high school where they connected during a tech class. Fast forward to their senior year, both making music, Kyle reached out saying he was a fan of Gianni’s music. Hesitant at first and wanting to focus on a solo career, Gianni eventually gave into the idea of forming a duo. Knowing college would buy them more time to work on their careers, Gianni went on to study at the University of Maryland and Kyle went to Rowan University. After one year, Kyle left school and started working full-time. After Gianni finished college and they performed their first show, they packed their bags and moved to Los Angeles with their team. The first 6 months were rough as they were sleeping on friends couches and studio floors but with time they were able to get on their own two feet. Now at a great spot in their career, they’re excited for what has yet to come. Aside from music, they hope to to push themselves to grow into all around entertainers and maybe one day do sketch comedy. In this Episode gianni & kyle discuss the importance of connecting with fans, what has changed the most about them since working with each other, the benefits of understanding the entire process of the music industry, why now is the time to take risks and having the mindset that this is going to work. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @GianniAndKyle & @PurposeintheYouth! - *There will be a temporary 2 week pause on the podcast as the beard man will be doing some traveling. The fear of missing out sucks. We all have those moments we wish we could be here, we wish we could be there but it’s usually impossible. Unless you have a Black American Express credit card with unlimited credit, you probably have to pick and choose between what you say yes to and what you say no to. The no’s have to come more than the yeses and if we’re being completely honest, it’s a bummer. We see everyone “living it up” at that birthday party, that networking event or in this case at Coachella but sometimes we just need to ignore it. We need to not get so consumed in living other people's lives and just live ours. - If you enjoyed this podcast please screenshot it and post it to your Instagram Story tagging @PurposeintheYouth OR leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback! - Connect with your favorite bearded man, Bobbbaaaay: Instagram: @Bobbbaaaay Twitter: @Bobbbaaaay Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new interviews (and more) Follow us on Spotify Follow us on Soundcloud Subscribe to iTunes Follow us on Instagram: @PurposeintheYouth
Today I'm sharing out a conversation I had on The Healthy Hustle Podcast presented by MATI Energy back in February with Jacob Burt. We cooked up some high quality podcasting content in the bedrudio where we flipped the script and Jacob interviewed me! 99.99% of the content I produce is about other people and as much as I enjoy creating it, I think it's equally important that you guys + gals get to know my story, where I come from, early lessons I learned as a child, what my college years looked like, the process/inspiration for launching Purpose in the Youth etc. If there is any big takeaway from this podcast it's that turning a passion into a reality can be done by any of YOU! Beneath this beard of mine is just another person who is trying to make a living doing what he loves. Hopefully my story / journey inspires someone out there. Just know... Georges Niang is a 6’8", 230lb power forward for the Utah Jazz. If there is one thing that has changed the most about him since entering the NBA in 2016, it’s realizing what truly matters to him is living and experiencing life with the people that mean the most to him. Born and raised in Metheun, MA, he knew he wanted to be an NBA player since he was a child. Not having any professional athletes come from his hometown, he wanted to be an example that it was possible. Being raised by biracial parents heavily influenced him in a positive way as he was able to live and see the world from two different perspectives. He attended Titlon School in New Hampshire where he was a 3 year starter, 2 year captain scoring 2,372 points. Getting offers from University of Iowa, Providence College & Texas A&M, he committed and played at Iowa State. After graduating, he entered the 2016 NBA draft where he was selected as the 50th overall pick from the Indiana Pacers. After 1 year with the Pacers and a year playing in the G-League for the Santa Cruz Warriors, he now has a standard contract with the Utah Jazz where he rocks number 31. Taking his career step by step, developing routines and being proactive about his health has been crucial in getting him to where he is today. He says the key to staying focused and calm during games is being present and doing his absolute best. In this Episode George discusses success isn’t a place it’s the journey, recognizing that our time is valuable, don’t ever think you can’t achieve something and why you should always put your best foot forward. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @GeorgesNiang & @PurposeintheYouth! - Connect with Georges! If you’ve check off all three boxes look no further… do I have a product for you! Good news, what I’m about to sell you is absolutely free. All that I ask is that you share the message and spread it to someone in need. Lots of people say to live your life one day at a time and although I completely agree and have preached this concept in my content before I want to take it a step further. Live your life one breath at a time. That’s the only thing both you and I can control. This moment. Not what has yet to come, not what has happened yesterday… this very moment. Mike Squires is a director, filmmaker, photographer & music producer. While in NYC recently, he saw a photo he had taken and a logo that he had designed on a billboard in Times Square. For him it was a reminder that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Born & raised in Stamford, CT, his parents supported his creative endeavors from day 1. Working a landscaping job all summer while he was 16, he saved up enough money to buy used camera equipment. Just two months later, he was on stage shooting Big Sean. One of the hardest moments he faced in his childhood was having his house burn down and losing everything. Instead of letting this experience hold him back it taught him a valuable lesson, that everything is replaceable. Although he knew he wanted to follow a creative career, he attended Norwalk Community College to appease other family members. With time he decided to drop out as he was beginning to get bigger opportunities offered to him. In the past he’s shot videos for artists Sammy Adams, Yonas, Devvon Terrell & two previous guests of this podcast Cam Meekins (Ep 72) and Abstract (Ep 96). Whether it’s through visuals or music production he aspires to inspire the people that support him. In this Episode he discusses why we should never stop learning, his favorite quote “if you do nothing, nothing happens”, the small wins add up, how to build confidence and why we need to believe before the world does. - If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a 1 sentence review on the iTunes Podcast App with your honest feedback OR screenshot this Episode, post it to your Instagram Story tagging @MikeSquires & @PurposeintheYouth! - Connect with Mike!
