Durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana de 2025, nos inspiramos en el liderazgo, los logros, los legados y las experiencias vividas de los latinos en todo Estados Unidos. De esta inspiración surgió la iniciativa Liderazgo Arraigado de la serie de podcasts Latina Today, con el invaluable apoyo de la Cámara Hispana de Cincinnati. Ani proviene de una familia de siete hijos, seis mujeres y un hombre. Su padre, gerente general de una compañía de productos lácteos, les inculcó valores como el liderazgo, la empatía y la innovación. Bajo su dirección, la compañía, que inicialmente solo producía mantequilla, se consolidó como una de las más importantes del sector lácteo en Perú. Ani considera que su padre, con su arduo trabajo y dedicación, fue una gran fuente de inspiración. Se siente afortunada de haber crecido con esos valores. El liderazgo que Ani describe la llevó a convertirse en escritora y a obtener el International Latino Book Award con su primer libro, “Nos vemos en el purgatorio”. Este logro marcó el inicio de una nueva etapa en su vida. Si bien Ani siempre ha escrito en diferentes áreas como relaciones públicas y periodismo, la ficción era un terreno nuevo para ella. La experiencia ha sido muy positiva, especialmente porque ha abierto oportunidades para otros escritores que escriben en español en Estados Unidos. Durante los últimos quince años, Ani se ha dedicado a promover el talento de escritores hispanos en este país. Para Ani, uno de los aspectos de los que se siente muy orgullosa, además de los demás, es que desde el principio, hace aproximadamente quince años, identificó la falta de apoyo para quienes escribimos en español en Estados Unidos. Acuñó el término “literatura de fusión” o el concepto de literatura de fusión, refiriéndose a quienes escribimos originalmente en español, no a quienes han sido traducidos. Observa una diferencia muy marcada entre estos escritores: hemos creado algo completamente nuevo con nuestra escritura, que no es peruana ni estadounidense, sino una escritura de emigrantes. No traemos nuestra cultura y la mezclamos con lo que experimentamos en Estados Unidos. Ya no somos solo peruanos, por ejemplo, en mi caso, tengo muchas más cosas en común con alguien de Venezuela que con alguien de mi país. Después de treinta y siete años en Estados Unidos, Ani considera relevante este tipo de literatura. En ocasiones, deseamos emular a alguien de nuestro país de origen; sin embargo, nuestra identidad se ha visto enriquecida por la interacción con diversas culturas, no solo en Estados Unidos, sino también a través de nuestros hijos que crecen en este país y nos influyen. Mi literatura refleja esa influencia multicultural, similar a la deliciosa comida fusión peruana que combina elementos de la cultura china y japonesa, explica Ani. Ani agradece a Lorena Mora-Mowry por la entrevista, ya que “es muy difícil. A veces, cuando uno se siente solo, no siente que está empujando el Titanic. Y de pronto llega alguien como tú a decirte: ‘Estás haciendo un buen trabajo'. Eso sí me conmueve”.

     Slam The Gavel Podcast welcomes Edyta (Edie) Hanna Basista. Edie is a civil rights advocate, trauma survivor, and pro se federal plaintiff in Basista & Palacios v. Batch, et al., a landmark constitutional lawsuit filed under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1983, 1985(3), and 1986, as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.     The case names 25 defendants, including judges, elected officials, attorneys, police officers, former spouses, licensed therapists, and state-contracted service providers, for their roles in a coordinated pattern of constitutional violations. Edyta's parental access was severed without a finding of unfitness, without an evidentiary hearing, and without lawful adjudication. Sealed trauma records were unlawfully disclosed. Court access was obstructed through procedural manipulation. Judicial actors refused to recuse despite personal and political conflicts, and retaliation was used to silence her legal efforts.     This is not a custody matter, it is a federal civil rights case grounded in binding U.S. Supreme Court precedent and asserting violations of the First, Fourth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments, the Supremacy Clause, the ADA, and VAWA. The lawsuit exposes how courts and state-aligned professionals weaponized trauma, disability status, and indigency to deny her access to justice — and how that abuse was not accidental, but institutional.     Edyta Basista stands not only for herself, but for every parent, survivor, and disabled litigant who has been denied a fair hearing under law. There are currently seven lawsuits pending in Cabarrus County.    Apparently after the August 12th podcast, the judges retaliated, giving Amy an order extremely quickly as they normally take 60 days to respond. It was ANOTHER Gatekeeper Order. Then, on September 9th, 2025 a school bus caught on fire. However where is the money in the budget to replace 25 year old school buses? Payne, catedrático emérito de Historia en la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison, del libro Franco. Una biografía personal y política (La Esfera de los Libros). El libro, de más de 800 páginas, se publicó por primera vez en el año 2014 y se ha reeditado con motivo del 50º aniversario de la muerte del dictador. Un clásico que fue considerada "la primera biografía académica rigurosa", "el primer estudio objetivo y desapasionado sobre la figura que gobernó España durante casi cuarenta años" o "una profunda investigación en fuentes primarias".Un nuevo prólogo En esta nueva introducción se destaca su "capacidad de penetración" en la sociedad española: "España tiene una de las historias más trascendentales de cualquier país en el mundo, y en toda esta inmensa trayectoria sería difícil encontrar una figura más dominante que Francisco Franco. A lo largo de su historia España ha dado grandes reyes, ha protagonizado epopeyas sin par y creado un imperio de iguales de más de trescientos años de duración. Pero ningún rey tradicional ha tenido tanto poder, y lo que los politólogos llaman "capacidad de penetración" en la sociedad y las instituciones como el dictador-autoritario de ningún régimen del siglo XX. Lo que pudo hacer y evitar que pasara no tiene paralelo en la historia de España". Y se critican las sucesivas leyes de Memoria socialistas, cincuenta años sin Franco pero con más Franco que nunca: "Hace cincuenta años que falleció Francisco Franco y, sin embargo, su figura se ha convertido en el actor político más importante de la España actual para el presidente Pedro Sánchez, su gobierno, las izquierdas y los grupos separatistas, incluido el terrorista vasco. En esto participa también el principal partido de la oposición, el liberal conservador Partido Popular, que bien por inacción, claudicación o complicidad con el Partido Socialista, ha contemporizado con este espectáculo destructivo. ¿Por qué se ha llegado hasta aquí? ¿Cómo ha sido posible que todo esto esté ocurriendo?." "La Transición sigue abierta" Sobre su régimen afirma Palacios que "Franco fue el dictador más exitoso del siglo XX y el menos dictador de todos ellos". Considera que "nunca fue un fascista" aunque en los primeros años sí había "una fascistización", por ejemplo, en el Fuero del Trabajo (1938), la primera ley fundamental que aprobó, inspirado en la Carta del Lavoro de Mussolini. Cuenta que Franco no tuvo ideología pero sí unas convicciones profundas: "anti partidos políticos, anti comunista, anti masón". Según los autores "la transición sigue estando abierta". Para Palacios "la nación no se puede defender del permanente secuestro del separatismo por la trampa introducida en la Constitución y que hace que el Estado sea fallido". Asegura el invitado que "las dos Leyes de Amnistía fueron una reconciliación política porque los españoles habían hecho tabla rasa, se habían reconciliado, veinte años antes"."Juan Carlos I engañó a todos" En la entrevista también participa el historiador y escritor Pedro Fernández Barbadillo, colaborador habitual del podcast. Otros de los asuntos que abordamos son por qué Franco restaura/instaura la monarquía, aunque fuese "tradicional, social y representativa", por qué elige a Juan Carlos en julio de 1969 y por qué los falangistas republicanos lo aceptan y hasta votan a su favor en las Cortes. Sobre la figura del Emérito dice Palacios que "Juan Carlos I barrió todo lo que había jurado defender" que "engañó a todos". Explica por qué Franco nunca perdonó a Alfonso XIII.De puertas hacia dentro En la charla también abordamos detalles personales del personaje, al define como "providencialista y pragmático", "sin aspiraciones políticas", "un militar muy reglamentista". Su vínculo emocional con África, donde casi pierde la vida, es muy curioso cómo se salva de una muerte segura. Tras la guerra llevó una vida sedentaria contra la que intentaba luchar su médico personal, Vicente Gil. Era "muy frugal en la comida", su cocinero era un militar y nos cuenta que "odiaba el arroz con leche". Sus mayores aficiones fueron "ir de cacería" y "ver películas en el cine privado de El Pardo". Tenía la costumbre de ver "dos televisiones a la vez, con cada uno de los dos canales que existían entonces". Destaca el hecho de que "al morir tenía veinte millones de pesetas" y que cobraba el "sueldo como capitán general". “Lo importante cuando piensas en el ahorro para la jubilación es ser consistente en el ahorro e ir, poco a poco, ingresando cantidades”. Es la máxima que defiende Ana González-Palacios Fernández, directora del departamento legal del grupo Loreto Mutua, que ha destacado la importancia de poner el foco en el ahorro a largo plazo. En Capital Intereconomía, la experta ha señalado que hay que abandonar el pensamiento tradicional de pensión en España que se limitaba a comprar un piso o el fondo que se heredaba. Aseguraba que “hay que ir más allá y la necesidad de una formación financiera”. Margen de previsión en las pensiones, según Loreto Mutua González-Palacios asegura que al hablar de pensiones “hay que tener un margen de previsión, al margen de la pública”. Así ha señalado que exigen productos específicos para complementar la pública: “no son muchos, no tienen muchos beneficios, pero están diseñados específicamente para eso”. La experta ha advertido cómo parece difícil que se puedan mantener las tasas de sustitución que alcanzan casi el 80% del último salario percibido, en las pensiones. Para apoyar sus palabras, ha echado mano de informes, como el de la OCDE que anticipa que para 2060, la tasa de sustitución sería del 50%”. Una tasa que decía, sería “bajísima, es la que tienen países anglosajones, que son sistemas asistenciales los públicos”. Productos para preparar la jubilación En cuanto a los productos para alimentar el patrimonio para el momento de la jubilación, Loreto Mutuo ha expuesto algunas de las opciones posibles. Aseguraba que son una gama de productos con ventajas fiscales que se deben aprovechar. “Hablamos del Pilar 2, que son planes de pensiones de empleo, que ahora se ha extendido para los autónomos; los planes de previsión social empresarial; las mutualidades de previsión social de caracter empresarial -que funcionan como un plan de empleo y que Loreto Mutua es una de ellas; y luego los sistemas individuales, que es donde se engloban los planes de pensiones individuales y planes de previsión asegurados”, según ha explicado. La experta apuntaba que a estos productos lo que les hace atractivos es que cuentan con algún beneficio fiscal, aunque están limitadas las aportaciones. Eso sí, señala que se reducen las aportaciones de la base imponible del IRPF pero hace una llamada de atención, en que hay que fijarse, en las comisiones. Ahorro a largo plazo La experta de Loreto Mutua ha echado mano del informe de la fundación BBVA que dice que los jóvenes tendrán que jubilarse a los 71 años para 2065, para poner de relieve la importancia de ahorrar a largo plazo. Una estimación que si bien, explicaba, no está en ningún proyecto legislativo,hay que tenerlo en cuenta. González-Palacios ha urgido a planificar la jubilación de manera individual, porque asegura que no se puede ignorar “ que el sistema siendo robusto, tal y como está diseñado, es insostenible” Desde Loreto advierten que es difícil que se puedan mantener las tasas de sustitución que alcanzan casi el 80% del último salario percibido, en las pensiones. Apuntaba que el sistema tiene muchos problemas como la extensión de cobertura de pensiones o la incorporación de la generación Baby Boom. Señalaba cómo se incorporan al sistema pensiones con cotizaciones más altas y que se alargan más el tiempo, por la esperanza de vida.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in Spain. The 28-year-old was travelling with his brother, Andre Silva, in the Zamora region of Sanabria when the incident occurred. According to the Zamora provincial council, firefighters attended the scene on the A52, known as the Palacios de Sanabria, after the vehicle caught fire. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 1am on Thursday morning, with the vehicle heading towards nearby Benavente. Local reports have claimed the accident was the result of a blown-out tyre. The Portugal international married long-time partner Rute Cardoso on June 22. They have three children. Tributes have poured in for the Liverpool striker.
