¿Y si te dijera que el viejo coche de tu abuelo, ese que acumula polvo en el garaje, podría ser un pequeño tesoro? O quizás, uno muy grande. El sector de los coches clásicos en España ha explotado en los últimos años, transformándose radicalmente. Ha dejado de ser un coto privado para unos pocos adinerados y se ha democratizado, convirtiéndose en una industria vibrante que mueve miles de millones de euros. En este vídeo, exploramos a fondo esta fascinante dualidad: ¿es el coche clásico una afición pura o se ha convertido en un negocio en toda regla? Y, por qué no, ¿pueden ser ambas cosas a la vez? De los Palacios a Nuestros Garajes: El Nacimiento de una Pasión Popular Durante gran parte del siglo XX, el coleccionismo de automóviles en España fue un lujo reservado a una élite económica. Hablamos de auténticas obras de arte rodantes, joyas como los Pegaso Z-102, los elegantísimos Hispano-Suiza Alfonso XIII o modelos de importación como los Jaguar E-Type y los Mercedes-Benz "Pagoda". Eran piezas de museo, coches de concurso de elegancia que el ciudadano de a pie solo podía soñar con ver de lejos. La verdadera explosión de la afición no nació en esas mansiones, sino en nuestras calles y talleres de barrio. El punto de inflexión llegó con la valoración de los "clásicos populares". El nuevo aficionado ya no buscaba necesariamente el coche más caro o exclusivo. Buscaba algo mucho más profundo: el coche de su padre, ese que olía a tabaco y a viajes de verano; su primer coche, cómplice de aventuras y libertades; o el coche de su vecino, un sueño inalcanzable en la infancia que ahora, por fin, podía ocupar un lugar en su garaje. La Ley que lo Cambió Todo: La Revolución de los Vehículos Históricos Esta afición creciente chocaba frontalmente con un muro: la burocracia. Durante casi 30 años, el Real Decreto 1247/1995 convirtió el proceso para matricular un coche como histórico en una odisea cara y compleja. Las cifras hablan por sí solas: a principios de 2024, España apenas contaba con 50.000 vehículos históricos, una cifra irrisoria comparada con nuestros vecinos europeos. Todo cambió radicalmente en mayo de 2024 con la aprobación del nuevo Reglamento de Vehículos Históricos. Esta ley ha supuesto una auténtica revolución, simplificando los trámites y abriendo la puerta a cientos de miles de vehículos. ¿El resultado? En solo 6 meses, se triplicó la cifra, alcanzando casi los 150.000 vehículos históricos. La nueva norma, que mantiene los 30 años de antigüedad como requisito, agiliza enormemente el proceso, especialmente para los vehículos fabricados después de 1950 (Grupo B), eliminando requisitos costosos y lentos. La Federación Española de Vehículos Antiguos (FEVA) estima que en España hay más de dos millones de vehículos con potencial para convertirse en históricos, lo que demuestra el enorme recorrido que aún tenemos por delante. La Industria de la Nostalgia: Un Motor Económico Cuando un parque potencial de dos millones de vehículos empieza a moverse, la economía responde. La afición y el nuevo marco legal han hecho florecer una potente industria profesionalizada. La nostalgia se ha convertido, sin duda, en un negocio rentable. Según datos de la FEVA, este sector ya mueve en España cerca de 4.000 millones de euros al año y da empleo a unas 20.000 personas. Este ecosistema se apoya en varios pilares: Compraventa: Desde portales online hasta showrooms especializados y subastas internacionales que han puesto a España en el mapa. Restauración: El corazón del negocio. Hay una enorme demanda de mecánicos, chapistas y tapiceros de la vieja escuela, y encontrar un buen taller de restauración se ha convertido en una misión. Recambios: Han surgido gigantes online y empresas innovadoras que utilizan tecnología como la impresión 3D para fabricar componentes descatalogados. Experiencias: Las concentraciones, rallyes y ferias (como Retromóvil) se han convertido en eventos masivos que generan un gran impacto económico y turístico, uniendo a la comunidad. Inversión o Satisfacción: ¿Son los Clásicos un Cheque en Blanco? La profesionalización ha traído una consecuencia inevitable: la subida de precios. ¿Es un coche clásico una buena inversión? La respuesta es un "depende" rotundo. En conclusión, afición y negocio no son enemigos, sino dos caras de la misma moneda. El negocio existe gracias a una gigantesca afición detrás, y esta, a su vez, se beneficia de la profesionalización del sector. El mundo del clásico en España ha mutado de un hobby de élite a una industria pujante, impulsada por la nostalgia, una legislación favorable y, sobre todo, por un inmenso amor a la máquina.

García, considers borderlands-informed art pedagogies as acts of classroom, community, and artist practice, in both formal and informal spaces of art education. These guests make productive liminal spaces of art education by harnessing cultural, navigational, familial, creative, and linguistic capital. Lilia Cabrera explores multiple environments with her art education students, offering experiences to work alongside hospital patients, asylum seekers in shelters, and resident doctors in Rio Grande Valley, Texas, hospitals. Her students work with communities with a range of age groups, motor skills, and cognitive abilities. She has taught art at various levels ranging from early childhood to university. She creates opportunities that align with the education of regional communities lacking in art experiences and has led art education students to create art workshops to delicate, low-economic, and multicultural youth in a border town. Cabrera is a lecturer for the art education program at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and an Associate Dean for Student Succes for the College of Fine Arts. Gina Gwen Palacios creates work highlighting the underrepresented geographic and cultural narrative of the people and land of South Texas. Rooted in the theory of conocimiento, Palacios invites viewers to embrace a multiplicity of perspectives and honor the rich, marginalized knowledge and history embedded in the US/South Texas borderlands. She is an associate professor and the Director for the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. Christen S. García theorizes through lived experiences, sharing autohistoria-teorías as creative capital in nepantla espacios. García is co-founder of the Nationwide Museum Mascot Project and is an associate professor in the Department of Art Education at Florida State University. García is co-author of Art Borderlands in Theory, Practice, and Teaching, with Leslie C. Sotomayor II (Routledge, 2025) and is co-editor of the book BIPOC Alliances: Building Community and Curricula (Information Age Publishing, 2023).

Durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana de 2025, nos inspiramos en el liderazgo, los logros, los legados y las experiencias vividas de los latinos en todo Estados Unidos. De esta inspiración surgió la iniciativa Liderazgo Arraigado de la serie de podcasts Latina Today, con el invaluable apoyo de la Cámara Hispana de Cincinnati. Ani proviene de una familia de siete hijos, seis mujeres y un hombre. Su padre, gerente general de una compañía de productos lácteos, les inculcó valores como el liderazgo, la empatía y la innovación. Bajo su dirección, la compañía, que inicialmente solo producía mantequilla, se consolidó como una de las más importantes del sector lácteo en Perú. Ani considera que su padre, con su arduo trabajo y dedicación, fue una gran fuente de inspiración. Se siente afortunada de haber crecido con esos valores. El liderazgo que Ani describe la llevó a convertirse en escritora y a obtener el International Latino Book Award con su primer libro, “Nos vemos en el purgatorio”. Este logro marcó el inicio de una nueva etapa en su vida. Si bien Ani siempre ha escrito en diferentes áreas como relaciones públicas y periodismo, la ficción era un terreno nuevo para ella. La experiencia ha sido muy positiva, especialmente porque ha abierto oportunidades para otros escritores que escriben en español en Estados Unidos. Durante los últimos quince años, Ani se ha dedicado a promover el talento de escritores hispanos en este país. Para Ani, uno de los aspectos de los que se siente muy orgullosa, además de los demás, es que desde el principio, hace aproximadamente quince años, identificó la falta de apoyo para quienes escribimos en español en Estados Unidos. Acuñó el término “literatura de fusión” o el concepto de literatura de fusión, refiriéndose a quienes escribimos originalmente en español, no a quienes han sido traducidos. Observa una diferencia muy marcada entre estos escritores: hemos creado algo completamente nuevo con nuestra escritura, que no es peruana ni estadounidense, sino una escritura de emigrantes. No traemos nuestra cultura y la mezclamos con lo que experimentamos en Estados Unidos. Ya no somos solo peruanos, por ejemplo, en mi caso, tengo muchas más cosas en común con alguien de Venezuela que con alguien de mi país. Después de treinta y siete años en Estados Unidos, Ani considera relevante este tipo de literatura. En ocasiones, deseamos emular a alguien de nuestro país de origen; sin embargo, nuestra identidad se ha visto enriquecida por la interacción con diversas culturas, no solo en Estados Unidos, sino también a través de nuestros hijos que crecen en este país y nos influyen. Mi literatura refleja esa influencia multicultural, similar a la deliciosa comida fusión peruana que combina elementos de la cultura china y japonesa, explica Ani. Ani agradece a Lorena Mora-Mowry por la entrevista, ya que “es muy difícil. A veces, cuando uno se siente solo, no siente que está empujando el Titanic. Y de pronto llega alguien como tú a decirte: ‘Estás haciendo un buen trabajo'. Eso sí me conmueve”.

     Slam The Gavel Podcast welcomes Edyta (Edie) Hanna Basista. Edie is a civil rights advocate, trauma survivor, and pro se federal plaintiff in Basista & Palacios v. Batch, et al., a landmark constitutional lawsuit filed under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1983, 1985(3), and 1986, as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.     The case names 25 defendants, including judges, elected officials, attorneys, police officers, former spouses, licensed therapists, and state-contracted service providers, for their roles in a coordinated pattern of constitutional violations. Edyta's parental access was severed without a finding of unfitness, without an evidentiary hearing, and without lawful adjudication. Sealed trauma records were unlawfully disclosed. Court access was obstructed through procedural manipulation. Judicial actors refused to recuse despite personal and political conflicts, and retaliation was used to silence her legal efforts.     This is not a custody matter, it is a federal civil rights case grounded in binding U.S. Supreme Court precedent and asserting violations of the First, Fourth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments, the Supremacy Clause, the ADA, and VAWA. The lawsuit exposes how courts and state-aligned professionals weaponized trauma, disability status, and indigency to deny her access to justice — and how that abuse was not accidental, but institutional.     Edyta Basista stands not only for herself, but for every parent, survivor, and disabled litigant who has been denied a fair hearing under law. Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in Spain. The 28-year-old was travelling with his brother, Andre Silva, in the Zamora region of Sanabria when the incident occurred. According to the Zamora provincial council, firefighters attended the scene on the A52, known as the Palacios de Sanabria, after the vehicle caught fire. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 1am on Thursday morning, with the vehicle heading towards nearby Benavente. Local reports have claimed the accident was the result of a blown-out tyre. The Portugal international married long-time partner Rute Cardoso on June 22. They have three children. Tributes have poured in for the Liverpool striker.
