Nonprofit Strategic Planning: How to Adapt When Realities Change Nonprofit MBA 8.19

When nonprofit organizations draft strategic plans, the expectation is stability. A three-to-five-year vision is meant to guide priorities, operations, and growth. But what happens when the world changes faster than the paper it's written on? In a recent episode of the Nonprofit MBA Podcast, Stephen Halasnik of Financing Solutions sat down with Marie Palacios, Lead Consultant at Funding for Good, to discuss a subject that's rapidly gaining urgency: how nonprofits can adapt their strategic plans in a changing reality. “In today's environment, you have to hold strategy loosely,” said Palacios. “Because the reality you planned for may not be the one you're living in next quarter.”

Jay White's sadistic, repetitive behavior CONTINUES as he schedules two hearings at the same time on July 22, 2025. Apparently this has gone on six times in the last five years. Also Attorney White consistently lies, stating that he has not been served paperwork, despite several witnesses looking on in the courthouse.      Actively filing a Federal Lawsuit based on the dual hearings that Amy can't be in two places at the same time, her case has merit and she will continue to defend herself. Two of her children "aged out," and she does have custody of the younger two children.

What happens to students when they don't see themselves reflected in the teachers and administrators around them? How can associations foster belonging for members who often feel like the “only one” in their professional environment? In this episode of Associations Thrive, host Joanna Pineda interviews Edgar Palacios, Founder and CEO of the Latinx Education Collaborative (LEC). Edgar discusses:The founding vision of LEC: to dramatically increase Latino educator representation to better serve Latino students in Kansas City and beyond. How Edgar was inspired to start LEC after visiting a school that had 99.9% Latino students and zero educators of color. Why representation matters: students experience stronger identity, engagement, and academic performance when they see themselves in their educators. The challenges Latino educators face as often the sole representative of their community in a school, taking on unofficial roles like translator, cultural broker, and emotional support provider. The alarming gap between student and educator demographics: 25% of K-12 students are Latino, yet only about 2% of teachers are Latino nationally (and closer to 1% in Kansas City).LEC's Expresión program, which helps Latino educators build identity-based storytelling skills to empower themselves and inspire their students.LEC's Futuros initiative, aimed at bringing 50 new Latino educators to Kansas City by 2027 — a significant boost from the current ~300 educators. How LEC provides community and mental health affirmation for isolated educators who may be questioning whether they belong in the profession. The importance of collecting both quantitative data and qualitative stories to document impact and secure funding.Edgar's strong belief in leaning into joy, identity, and authenticity even amid a challenging political climate.References:LEC Website

Suds and Schwab celebrate the small miracle, then immediately spiral into confusion over the Elko demotion, the team's obsession with fringe roster guys, and a minor league development strategy that feels allergic to innings. The Cincinnati Reds recently faced the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series from May 13-15, 2025, at home, dropping two of three contests. In the opener, the Reds fell 5-1 in extra innings, managing only six hits against White Sox pitching, with Chicago's Vargas delivering a decisive three-run homer in the 10th. The second game saw Cincinnati lose 4-2, as the White Sox capitalized on solo homers and efficient pitching from Martin, who allowed just one earned run over 6.2 innings. The Reds salvaged the finale, winning 7-1, with a strong offensive outburst, including 12 hits, led by Palacios and Thaiss. However, the Reds' overall struggles were evident, with a .175 batting average and 1-for-26 performance with runners in scoring position across their last three series, scoring only 24 runs in nine games. Looking ahead, the Reds travel to face the Cleveland Guardians for a three-game series starting May 16, 2025. The Guardians, perennial contenders in the AL Central, present a tough challenge with their balanced roster. Cleveland's pitching, led by Tanner Bibee and Shane Bieber (if healthy), could exploit Cincinnati's recent offensive woes. The Reds will rely on their young core—Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, and Hunter Greene—to spark the lineup and rotation. Greene's high-velocity fastball could test Cleveland's contact-oriented hitters, but the Reds' bullpen must hold late leads, an issue in the White Sox series. Cincinnati's ability to improve plate discipline and capitalize on scoring opportunities will be critical against Cleveland's stingy defense. Splitting the series would be a positive step for the Reds as they aim to regain momentum in a competitive NL Central race

Escuchar audio
