In this episode of In The LOOP Podcast, Jordan Jo sits down with Sami Jo Smith for a powerful conversation about leadership, legacy, women's rodeo, faith, and the behind the scenes work it takes to build something that truly moves the industry forward. From growing up as a first generation rodeo kid in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to serving as Miss Frontier and building a career across RFD TV, The American, ERA, WCRA, and now Premier Women's Rodeo, Sami Jo shares the people, moments, and opportunities that shaped her path in the Western industry. The two also dive into the growth of PWR, the evolution of professional women's rodeo, the addition of rough stock, national television opportunities, athlete stories, family legacies, and why creating a true home for women in rodeo matters now more than ever. As the Director of Operations and Rodeo Administration for PWR, Sami Jo reflects on what it means to serve behind the scenes, build opportunities for cowgirls, and help carry a movement that is opening doors for the next generation. At the heart of the conversation is a reminder that legacy is not just about titles or organizations. It is about the impression you leave, the people you serve, and the impact that lasts long after the event is over.

There are teams that gain success with championships and superstar players. Yet very few teams become ingrained in the culture and identity of a city. From their debut in 1967 with the backdrop of the city's aerospace industry which gave Seattle its "supersonic" name to the rise of players such as Fred Brown, Dale Ellis, and Nate McMillian. Still others with colorful nicknames such as "Slick" and "The X-Man". This team from the "Emerald City" also had "The Wizard, "The Reign Man" and "The Glove". Throughout their history, the Seattle SuperSonics weren't just a team based in the Pacific northwest, they were a vibe. In this episode of the podcast, Dana Auguster and Charles Combs will take a look back at one of the most beloved franchises in NBA history which in a few years, may be making a triumphant return. The Seattle SuperSonics, the first pro sports team in the city of Seattle, was one of the most successful franchises in the NBA whos history is filled with a myriad of all star players and hall of famers including a star point guard that played in the teams early years that would eventually lead them to their only championship while serving as their head coach. Also we will talk about the team owner who not only threatened the NBA by taking his team to join with the American Basketball Association but also talked openly about leaving Seattle all together to be a direct rival to the Lakers in Los Angeles. Speaking of leaving town, we will also talk about the heartbreaking and controversial move in 2008 as the sonics left the pacific northwest to find literal greener pastures in Oklahoma City. Leaving an empty shell in the coffee Capital of the world and fans still waiting, still hoping and still holding onto the Green and Gold. Rounding out the episode we will send a shout out to the Sonics first bonified superstar. In the fall of 1970, a young player arrived in Seattle from the ABA named Spencer Haywood. He not only he took on the best of the NBA on the court, but he took on the league itself off the court and then -- in court. Love the podcast? Send us a text! What does it really mean to support your body during and after breast cancer treatment? In this episode I am joined by returning guest Dr. Amy Comander and Meg McSherry, a breast cancer patient under Dr. Comander's care, for a thoughtful conversation about lifestyle medicine and breast cancer survivorship. Together, we explore the very real physical and emotional toll of treatment, including fatigue, weight gain, loss of taste, joint pain, hot flashes, sleep disruption, and the fear of recurrence. Dr. Comander explains how lifestyle medicine offers an evidence-based, whole-person approach to survivorship, grounded in six key pillars: physical activity, nutrition, restorative sleep, social connection, stress resilience, and reducing risky substances. She also shares how questions from patients led her to create the PAVING the Path to Wellness Program, now offered in group format to support breast cancer survivors with trusted, practical guidance. Meg offers an honest patient perspective on going through intensive HER2-positive breast cancer treatment, how hard it was to focus on nutrition and movement in the middle of chemotherapy, and how the PAVING program helped her feel more empowered as she moved toward survivorship. You do not have to do everything perfectly to support your health after a breast cancer diagnosis. This episode is a reminder that survivorship is not about perfection. It is about rebuilding with evidence-based tools, compassion, and community.Resources: Paving the Path to Wellnesshttps://www.pavingwellness.org/Support the showLatest News: Become a Breast Cancer Conversations+ Member! This MBM conversation is with Safiya Bano, a resident of Golconda Hyderabad, who is a businesswoman and beneficiary of the non-profit, SAFA's training and micro-finance initiative. Before being supported by SAFA, Safiya worked relentlessly for 20 years, starting from stitching shirt buttons to learning to make and sell washing powder. She has single-handedly supported the education and well-being of her five children, refusing to budge to a bad marriage and taking steps to look after herself and her children despite societal constraints and economic hardships. This conversation is a window to her life and story that showcases how sheer determination and grit to survive helped Safiya navigate life, but also in her own words, having faith in Allah and not dwelling on the past, has helped her take one step after another. Through SAFA, Safiya was able to get a small loan to start her own clothing business, which she hopes to scale with a bigger loan and better investment strategies over the coming years.About SAFA:* Website: https://www.safaindia.org/* Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/safaindia* Linktree: https://linktr.ee/safangoRelated MBM episode:MBM visual identity design by Shazia Salam || Music by Jupneet Singh This is a public episode. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, where we look at the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, ushering in the beginning of Jesus's final week of earthly ministry, his journey to the cross, and ultimately, his victory over death at his glorious resurrection. Rev. JD Meeder walks us through how Jesus got here, why the crowds were gathering in expectation, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” when, in just a few days, those shouts of praise would turn into demands for his death. Palm Sunday paves the way not just for Holy Week, but for the greatest story of Love ever told. Learn more about Holy Week at redeemergso.org/holy-week "Palm Sunday: Paving the Way to Holy Week", Holy Week 2026, Matt. 21:1-11, Rev. J.D. Meeder.
Prepare for battle – a cookie battle, that is! Back in the early 1900s, two brothers invented a game changing cookie. It consisted of two crisp chocolate wafers, stuck together with a vanilla cream filling. It was delicious! It was fancy! They called it… Hydrox.Years later, Nabisco created their own knockoff version of Hydrox. They called it the Oreo. For decades, Hydrox was the undisputed king of chocolate sandwich cookies. But in time, the tables turned.Remember, kids, history hoes always cite their sources! Northwest Montana's wildest headlines are front and center this week on News Now with your host Taylor Inman. We lead with the conclusion of a massive Flathead Valley crime spree as Michael Ray Downing, the man infamously dubbed the "Cocaine Fairy" by local law enforcement, reaches a plea deal following his arrest for a string of burglaries totaling over $1 million in stolen property. Downing's legal saga comes to a head alongside the bizarre case of Dustin Lawrence Oswald, who was recently sentenced to a suspended jail term and legally ordered to leave the state of Montana forever after threatening an officer during a public urination arrest in Whitefish. The episode shifts to urgent safety news as the Flathead Avalanche Center warns of "high" avalanche danger across the Whitefish, Swan, and Flathead ranges following a series of storms that have left the backcountry snowpack in a "touchy" and dangerous state. We also dive into local environmental efforts in Polson, where the Flathead Lakers and Polson Bay Golf Course are launching a $150,000 public-private partnership to combat E. coli and algal blooms impacting Flathead Lake's water quality. In political news, we break down the heating intraparty competition in Northwest Montana as the candidate filing period reveals major Republican primary showdowns for the state House, Senate, and Public Service Commission. Finally, we celebrate local storytelling with a look at two documentaries filmed on the Flathead Indian Reservation, "The Water Keepers" and "Paving the Way," which are currently contending for the prestigious Big Sky Award at the 2026 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.A big thank you to our headline sponsor for the News Now podcast, Loren's Auto Repair! This week, I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Pam Minick, cowgirl, competitor, broadcaster, history-maker, and one of the most respected women in the Western industry. But more than any title she has held, this conversation is about something deeper. It's about joy. Pam shares her journey from growing up riding horses in Las Vegas to becoming Miss Rodeo America and breaking barrier after barrier as one of the first women to hold major broadcasting roles in rodeo. What stood out most to me was not the accolades, but her mindset. After a recent leukemia diagnosis and months of treatment, Pam made a daily decision to choose joy. That phrase became more than words. It became her anchor, her perspective, and even the name of a racehorse inspired by her resilience. We talk about finding work you love, saying yes before you know how you will figure it out, cheering for the next generation, and why joy is not accidental. It is intentional. This episode is a reminder that no matter what season you are in, you still get to choose how you show up, and the word “can't” shouldn't be used.
