The 23rd Annual New Hampshire Film Festival in Portsmouth is October 16th – 19th and here at WKXL's NH Unscripted we're having a small mini series talking with some of the folks involved. First up is Mark Pruett, Cinema Curator for the festival, and he's kind enough to answer my questions about how films get selected, which films may be the highlights of the festival, about the connection between the NHFF and the Academy Awards. International films, animated films, films with a NH connection are all in our chat. The topic of the use A.I. in film making is particularly interesting. Great first episode to kick off our series!

Kim Stare Wallace and Brian Pruett are our guests on California Wine Country with Dan Berger and Daedalus Howell. Brian is the winemaker at Dry Creek Vineyards and this is his first time on California Wine Country. Kim’s last time on the show was this episode of March 30, 2022. Dan begins by describing Chenin Blanc and how versatile it is in Europe. Dry Creek Valley is making a sparkling Chenin Blanc to celebrate their 50th anniversary. They love Cremant de Loire, and the Stare family have friends in Loire Valley, so it felt right to make one for the celebration. Brian had never made a sparkling wine before but it worked so well they will make it every year. Sparkling Chenin Blanc They only needed to harvest a couple of weeks earlier than the still wine harvest, in order to get lower sugars and higher acidity. It is actually 90% Chenin Blanc and 10% Cabernet Franc. Chenin Blanc of course also makes a great still wine. Dry Creek Vineyards has been bottling Chenin Blanc for many years. They always called it Dry Chenin Blanc. Her father, is the pioneering winemaker David Stare. He always thought it important to point out the difference between their Chenin Blanc and many others, that veer toward the sweet side. CWC is brought to you by Deodora Estate Vineyards. They know the vineyards they are using, and they are looking for the oak not to overshadow the fruit or the vineyard. They want the wines to be as complex as possible and support combining with food. Daedalus notices a balance between power and elegance. Kim tells about Dry Creek Vineyard’s decision to focus on Dry Creek Valley as a source for their Bordeaux program. They have all kinds of conditions that favor the growth of Bordeaux varieties. Brian also remembers the influence of the Pacific Ocean that cools us off at night.

Pruett Farms is a historic property in Livermore which was established as a farmstead in 1879, and the first grapes were planted in 1880. The house and winery building were built in 1881. The farm residents include horses, punker chickens, alpaca and the obligatory farm cats. The current winery was founded in 2021, and we opened the tasting room in 2023 as well as a family friendly picnic area. The barn was remodeled in the style of a moody speak easy. Our estate vineyard is planted to Chardonnay, and we purchase fruit for other wines from select vineyards in Northern California. Our red wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and multiple Rhône varietals. We have two rosés plus we are about to release a unique Chillable Red named "Heretic." We make Chardonnay as it should be without catering to styles that distort this beautiful fruit of Burgundy. This includes 5 styles ranging from austere to opulent Northern California.

Welcome to Faith Church Online! Matthew 27 paints a beautiful picture of the crucifixion of Jesus and in it we see the fifth statement Jesus spoke, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?" Jesus was expressing deep anguish as the sins of the world were place on Him, which caused Him to be separated from His Father for the first and only time. But here's the good news: Because Jesus suffered for our sins & because He endured the spiritual separation from His Father, we may be united with Him and never have to be separated from God's love.We hope this serves you well!

She loves books, movies, and also loves podcasts about books and movies. She frequently appears on the podcast 'Worst Bestsellers' to talk about teenage vampires and horse girls. When she was 13, she accidentally read 'Wuthering Heights' because her mom told her it was 'like Pride and Prejudice.' (It wasn't). Ever since then, she has enjoyed stories about terrible people who make bad decisions, especially if they do it in English country houses.Our drink this week is a Sam Smith beer from Yorkshire England, near the Moores where Wuthering Heights is set.
