Apologetics Live episode 128 There is a popular cheer being shouted at public events, "Let's Go Brandon". This is a reference to foul language referring to President Joe Biden. Even though it is a sanitized version of foul language, the question for Christians is can they use that phase. Pastor Justin and Andrew are joined by Chris Hohnolz for Voice of Reason Radio to discuss this more. Some Christians are justifying saying "let's go Brandon" as the same as King David in some of the psalms against his enemies. Scripture is clear that Christians should not use foul language. Is there a difference between using the phrase "let's go Brandon"? Christians may disagree with President Biden's policies, but he is still the president and Scripture says that we should show him honor. Dislike for the president does not justify dishonor. A superhero will represent each of these ideas. This is part 3 of 3 of "Is Jesus Like Captain America?" Why does Jesus have to be fully God and fully man to be our substitute? Let's take a deep dive into Scripture to answer this question. We are continuing a series of episodes comparing Jesus to superheroes. This series will tackle wrong ideas about Jesus from church history in chronological order. A superhero will represent each of these ideas. This is part 2 of 2 3 of "Is Jesus Like Captain America?" We review the following: Who is Captain America? How are Jesus and Captain America similar? How are Jesus and Captain America different? What is Eutychianism? What happened at the "robber council"? Then, we answer these questions: What was the Council of Chalcedon? Comic book history and story Some mention of the Marvel movies An honorable mention of Chris Hohnholz and his "Cap" outfit What are Captain America's superpowers? How are Jesus and Captain America similar? They are both human and "divine." They are both an individual person. How are Jesus and Captain America different? Jesus divinity and humanity are two distinct natures. Captain America has a single nature that has humanity and divinity mixed together. What is Eutychianism? Eutyches was head of a monastery in Constantinople. Eutyches taught that Jesus had one nature as a product of humanity and divinity. Eusebius of Doryleum accused him of heresy. A synod in Constantinople found him guilty and deposed him. A second Council of Ephesus was rigged to find him innocent and depose his accusers. Leo of Rome called this the "robber council."
