I have to start this interview with a confession. The other day, I was scrolling social media and saw the cutest pair of gingham socks. They had that little ruffled top. I went from not knowing I needed ruffle gingham socks to clicking "add to cart" faster than you can say "Bob's your uncle." Before you start shutting down my inbox with emails asking for the link to the socks... You should know right before I hit "checkout," I felt my heart pull in that familiar way. I suddenly remember the sock drawer I couldn't close this week, I had to pull some socks out and store them in a different drawer. I have a feeling I'm not the only person who's had this happen this week. We live surrounded by ads. It's constantly pointing out what we don't have. It seems that, as the church, we have "pet sins" we like to talk about and some that fly under the radar. What brought the sin of overconsumption to your attention?  Why, as Christians, do you think we want to consume so much? I use the word consume because it can be stuff, food, experiences, trips, etc.Why is it important for our faith to pause before we hit the payment button? Does that change if we can afford it, or if we are putting it on a payment plan? The Bible is rather cryptic when it comes to identifying the antichrist. End time prophecies predict there will be a single AntiChrist appearing after the rapture, the bodily ascension of believers who were spirited away to spend an eternity with the Christ. The same verse, 1 John 2:18, also claims there are many antichrists amongst the target audience long before the rapture event. I guess there could be legions of small a antichrists with an ultimate capital A Antichrist appearing coincidental with the end times. Otherwise, the Bible is contradicting itself, a problem believers must find a way to rationalize away, as I did with the composite sketch. If not, the claimed infallibility of the BIble would be undermined, a shift in plate tectonics rightfully collapsing the faith upon itself.

Pastor Jim explores Romans 16 and the call to be wise toward what is good and innocent toward what is evil. Jim challenges the common tendency to focus on external behavior by pointing upstream to the source: belief. False gospels and counterfeit teachings often creep in subtly, creating division and temptation while masquerading as righteousness. Jim reminds listeners that wise belief in the true gospel of Jesus produces lasting fruit and unity, while false gospels elevate performance and foster pride. Through cultural examples and personal reflection, he urges the church to remain anchored in the gospel of grace, not distracted by legalism or religious noise. To spot what is evil, we must first know what is good—and what is good is the gospel.

A Classic Message From The 1990's

Popular kids gaming app Roblox is dangerous by design of the platform but it is also promoting a false gospel experience of living a virtual life.

The Churches of Galatia had gladly received the good news of freedom from the guilt, condemnation, and power of sin that Christ brings to all who trust alone in Christ alone. Through the preaching of Paul they had begun walking in this liberty purchased for them by Christ (in about 46-47 A.D), but within a couple years, false teachers (Jewish converts to Christianity) were promoting another gospel, which was really not another gospel (good news), but was bad news for sinners. It implied that Christ's perfect righteousness and perfect sacrifice for sin were not sufficient for the complete justification of a believing sinner before a holy God. To Christ's perfect work must be added one's own obedience to God's law in order to be declared righteous by God, it was claimed. Paul writes this letter to expose this false gospel of bondage and to expound the true gospel of freedom in Christ.

Many false versions of the gospel are flourishing in the Church right now—what are they, and how can we recognize them? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the symptoms of widespread deception, distortion, and manipulation happening under the umbrella of “faith” today. He warns us to live with an awareness of messages that pervert the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ to fit a popular worldview, agenda, or cultural fad. We learn from Peter and Paul that this is not a new problem; it's an age-old issue. To remain grounded in the Truth, we need to stay close to our Shepherd, the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

In the Old Testament the Lord Himself many times appealed to Israel as His covenanted wife to be faithful to Him and likewise condemned the lovers of Israel who seduced her. Therefore, when we find the Apostle Paul using very strong language in this inspired Letter to the Galatians (perhaps the strongest he uses in all his New Testament letters), he is fully justified in condemning the seducers who were seeking to lead these new Christians from Christ and the truth of the gospel which he preached unto them. It ought not to be shocking to us to hear Paul fighting for the souls of those who are being misled into very dangerous errors and heresies. That's what faithful ministers do—they fight for the souls of those sheep that Christ has given to them to shepherd.
