Hey lady! This week Dr. Dom and Terri welcome Dr. Kemi Doll, a physician, surgeon, researcher, advocate and author of A Terrible Strength: The Hidden Crisis of the Black Womb & Your Survival Guide to Healing to sit down and talk to us about the importance of caring for our wombs at all stages of life. Dr. Kemi provides an insightful and informative lens as to how the impact of adequate care – and the neglect of such care – can shape Black women’s reproductive health and overall quality of life. Far too often, Black women’s reproductive health is reduced to the facilitation of producing babies and little more. However, there is a vast array of reproductive issues that affect Black women and those issues are not given the spotlight that they need – particularly uterine cancer, the fastest growing cancer in Black women. Dr. Kemi gives a historical review of how we collectively arrived to a place where not only is Black women’s maternal health in peril, but we are now facing aggressive concerns in other womb matters. The good news is that with once you are armed with good information you can turn those debilitating aches and pains into a plan to advocate for your health and your needs. Lady, you’re going to want to pay close attention because Dr. Kemi is going to lay out the tell-tale symptoms that let you know you’re experiencing abnormal womb health. Good health isn’t given to you, it’s something that you tend to and advocate for your entire lifetime. We know as a Black woman you may be accustomed to pushing through all the random and weird body sensations you may experience but it’s time to tune in and make sure that you’re listening to your temple and treating it as such. We’re sending you love and positive energy, lady! Quote of the Day: "To all who cramp, bleed, and endure- and those who love us. It's time for a new story." – Dr. Kemi Doll This episode is brought to you by VB Health, supplements that work. Check out Soaking Wet for vaginal health. Hey lady! If you’re anything like us then you know that all of your goals and dreams are within your reach; but, if you’re anything like us you know that you don’t have to burn out to make those dreams happen. In this one beautiful life you get to live do you want to spend it on the dream chasing treadmill, or are you ready to be a human being rather than a human doing? This week, Terri and Dr. Dom discuss the life-changing magic of deciding that being content with the life you built as it is now. This doesn’t mean that you give up your aspirations for the life you envision for yourself, but it does mean reframing the path to that life so that you don’t relinquish your peace of mind and your good health. Dr. Dom and Terri dive into the six components that can help you audit your ambition and what’s driving you. When you look at your life how do you really feel? Often, when we have big dreams we take the adage, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey a little too literally. Sometimes the forward momentum can blind us to the positive gains we have now. Being mindful and present is the gift itself, so why can it be so difficult to slow down enough to enjoy it? Terri and Dr. Dom offer clarifying questions and perspectives to help you gain a healthy view on life and when good enough is actually great! Lady, life is what you make it so stop and smell the roses, tell the people that love and support you that you appreciate them, and keep doing you! And, if you need additional support, join us in Patreon. We’ve built a beautiful community of sister friends who have released the mantle of perfection and are living their best lives just as they are. Quote of the Day: “The goal isn’t to stop becoming. Hey lady! This week Dr. Dom and Terri pick up where they left off discussing why protecting your reputation is high priority as we navigate the new terrain of a saturated misinformation market where a sharp discernment will be key to keeping you from getting got. Your name carries weight wherever you go. What does your name say when you aren’t in the room? Terri and Dr. Dom dive even deeper into why developing good character, high integrity, and a moral compass go a long way to earning a strong reputation. Life is made for living and who you were then does not have to be who you are now. While reputations change you character stands the test of time. Part One focused on how to interrogate yourself but we are hardwired to be in community with others. This week Dr. Dom and Terri highlight ways to identify green flags in others so that your ability to vet becomes stronger in your interpersonal relationships. Lady, you’ve heard us say it and we’ll continue to say it – we’re all we got. So, we need to start acting like it and nurture the relationships that help us show up as our authentic selves. If you’re ready to drop the masks and be the truest you, tap in babe! We’re over here growing! Quote of the Day: “Because the reality is, people are human. People make mistakes. Hey lady! This week Dr. Dom and Terri dive into an important, but sometimes touchy topic. What you think about yourself and what others think about you are two different concepts that radically impact your life. Self-esteem and self-regard are what keep your self-concept in check but your reputation is built on variable factors – few of which are in your control. The good news is there are strategies to help you improve your reputation and all of them are in your control. Terri and Dr. Dom offer perspective on why building strong character matters more than creating an image built on controlling people’s perception of you. Don’t get it twisted, your image matters and so does the narrative around you but the incredible thing about living is that at any moment you can own your narrative and write a new story based on what is true to you and your life experience. Lady, this episode is jam packed with richness to help you gain clarity about how to present the best, most real version of yourself. You deserve to live in a world where you are respected and valued, but that first starts with you! Hey lady! Can you tell the difference between an old heaux and a young heaux? If you can no longer drop down and get your eagle on, but it’s cool because you don’t even know that means anyway then this episode is for you. This week, Terri and Dr. Dom have fun bridging the gap between the generational divide that exists because sistas across the land are realizing we have a lot to learn from each other. No matter what generation you are a part of, we can all agree that life is remarkably different than what we were used to; and what has become clear in these turbulent times is that we’re going to need each other to get through them. Our individual life lessons weave into a colorful tapestry of collective wisdom when we decide to listen to one another. With that perspective in mind, Dr. Dom and Terri make a playful delineation between old heaux and young heaux behavior. Pour your favorite beverage of choice and tap in to what makes each lived experience amazing and different and worth celebrating. Young heauxs have enviable opportunities and freedoms that our ancestors dreamed, and old heauxs have the benefit and beauty of a life before social media allowing space for creativity, culture, and common sense. Together, we can light a path for the generations younger than us to build the world they deserve. Tap in! Hey eldest sisters! This week, this one is for you. This week’s episode is a love song to the eldest daughters and granddaughters, the backbone of society, whose stories are often overlooked and ignored because their silent labor is the underpinning that keeps modern family life moving forward and families together. Dr. Dom and Terri share their experiences of being the eldest daughter and oldest sister in their immediate family and how it has shaped their worldviews and ways of being – for better or for worse. While these experiences are not a monolith, there is enough evidence that this is a growing segment of the population that are expected to care for everyone around them at the expense of their own career growth and health. So what can you do if you find yourself in a position where there is an implicit expectation that you will be the strong one? Tune in if you are fed up with that role so that you can build a solid toolkit to shift yourself back into the driver’s seat of your life. Lady, this particular journey takes time so pack your patience and carve out intentional time so you can make a realistic plan that works for you. Head over to the Cultivating H.E.R. Space shop to pick up a journal as your companion to unpack this deep work you’re doing and while you’re at it grab a latte mug to sip on something that will calm your nervous system (you’ll find out why this is important in the episode). Wishing you lots of a love and lighter load on your plate, lady! Quote of the Day: "The eldest daughter is the prototypical parentified child. Who’s tucking her in? Who’s feeding her? Hey lady! There comes a time when, hopefully, you wake up and say to yourself, I just don’t feel that way anymore. It can be at once both liberating and confusing. How can a belief or feeling you once held so deeply now seem like an ill-fitting sweater? Just like that sweater, now snug, uncomfortable, and no longer a match for who you are today, long-held beliefs can be difficult to shake but once you make the commitment to your growth, you’ll gain a new level of self-respect. One that you can carry as your superpower – the power to change your mind, especially when new information is presented. This week, Terri and Dr. Dom, explore the ways they’ve examined their beliefs and challenged them. Some they kept but many they discarded without fanfare, just a simple, I’ve changed my mind. A woman has the right to change her mind, doesn’t she? What beliefs do you still hold that are no longer serving you? Where could you use more compassion and less judgment in your life? And, where do you find yourself noticing that a particular belief is actually a projection? Lady, there’s nothing wrong with keeping it real with yourself. In fact, it’s highly encouraged as you build a real and authentic life. Speaking of keeping it real, head over to the enhanced Patreon community where Dr. Dom and Terri keep it all the way real about the behind the scenes of the making of the podcast. Hey lady! We can be honest about the tenor of this year – even with personal joys – this year has an air of heaviness to it. We are collectively grieving so much and some of us are also grieving on a personal level as well. Grief is not something that we do well in this country, which is why this week Dr. Dom and Terri are excited to welcome Marisa Renee Lee, award-winning and bestselling author of Grief is Love and her book Waiting for Dawn, to discuss the levels of grief and how to navigate a challenging world with loads of self-compassion and care. Marisa shares how she has built a life around the grief that showed up in her late adolescence and has showed up in various ways despite building a high-achieving, ambitious life. She offers a grounded, authentic perspective about the levels and layers of grief and how learning how to live with it and give it space in your life can actually open up room for deeper love, deeper understanding, and a more connected relationship with life. Marisa’s journey includes profound loss and a new relationship with her body by understanding its needs after being diagnosed with chronic illness. Lady, grief is a real component of life. It is inevitable and unavoidable but knowing that there is a path through the grief and that there are tools to support the journey can make all the difference between a life of suffering and a life of self-discovery and self-fulfillment. Which path will you choose? Whatever road you take, lady, we’re walking right beside you towards our joy. Be well! Hey lady! By now it is clear that we are living through an extreme backlash to the gains made by Black Americans, non-Black minorities, and women. The most glaring manifestation of this is the rollback of Affirmative Action and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs across the country. Not only were programs built to uplift non-Whites completely eliminated but they were removed with a velocity that made many American’s head recoil from whiplash. Seemingly overnight companies united to align with the current regime’s warped ideal of what the American workplace should operate as. The thing is we, as Americans, have long moved past civil rights era workplace politics and practices. Black Americans have consistently demonstrated our aptitude and ability to be top contributors to the corporate workforce and that doesn’t have to stop despite this regime’s best efforts, according to Dr. Marissiko Wheaton-Greer, Assistant Vice President for People, Purpose and Policy at an affordable housing nonprofit and researcher on social identity, critical consciousness building, and leadership. Dr. Wheaton-Greer offers a balanced perspective about why this moment feels different and how you can navigate hostile, tenuous workplace situations. Tune in lady and have your Cultivating H.E.R. Space journal with you so you can write down a few of the scripts Dr. Wheaton-Greer offers. Her guidance will have you managing challenging scenarios with grace, dignity and the class you’ve already cultivated. Quote of the Day: "We cannot talk about DEI in broad categories. In order to dive deeply and give people the competence they need to be good colleagues and stewards of this work, we need to be specific and engage in the unique experiences of various communities and identities." – Dr. Marissiko Wheaton-Greer This episode is sponsored by VB Health, a woman-owned, physician-led supplement company creating doctor-formulated supplements that work. Hey lady! This week’s episode is for all of the mothers out there holding it down to make sure their babies have the best in life despite all of the stigma, obstacles, and challenges that can come with being a single mother in America. Jamilah Lemieux, notable author and editor and Black Twitter media personality, joins Terri and Dr. Dom to discuss her new book Black.Single.Mother and her journey into wholeness as a woman, co-parent, and mother of a teenager. Jamilah has a real and relatable conversation about how she processed the dissolution of her relationship, came to terms with rejection, and moved into a healthy co-parenting dynamic that still honors her needs and boundaries but keeps the focus on her daughter and what is best for her development. Jamilah drops gems about the internal work she had to do to get to a place where she wasn’t recreating patterns based on her life experience. Some of the biggest work we will do as women is being able to become so full of ourselves – our light, our brilliance, our joy – that we are able to fill in the areas where we feel incomplete, broken, or unworthy. It is some of the most important work we can do if we want to raise healthy children that will walk into the world knowing their inherent worthiness and free from inherited feelings of lack. We want confident young people that grow into capable leaders and it starts with all of us – mother or not – freeing ourselves from shame and stigma. So, tap in and get some real love from Jamilah and the ladies of Cultivating H.E.R. Space and find out why being a present, loving “baby mama” is something to be proud of, not ashamed. Hey lady! We know that right now the onslaught of news is hard to escape. Everyday there is a new anxiety-inducing development, a new manufactured fear to distract us from our mission’s work. We’re here to tell you that if you are having a hard time keeping your head up, you are not alone. What we’re experiencing is not normal, which is why Terri and Dr. Dom invited friend of the show and American Psychological Association President Dr. Wendi Williams to have a heart-to-heart about the psychological toll that’s being levied onto the American populace, particularly Black women. Not only are we witnessing horrendous injustices, confusing schemes, and a barrage of misinformation from the administration but we are witnessing a targeted attack on the Black woman worker in the economy. Dr. Wendi breaks down the historical implications of the reported 300,000 Black women who have suffered job loss or prolonged absence from the workforce. She states that the number is actually higher. You’ll have to tune in to hear why. Dr. Wendi also talks about why her role as the president of the American Psychological Association is critical as we begin to imagine the solutions that will help us fight our way out of this mess. Dr. Wendi keeps it real about the moment we’re in, but she offers perspective that will inspire hope in your heart. Lady, by now you know we all we got. Hold tight to your sister friends and send them this episode so we can keep each other uplifted and informed. Dr. Wendi offers a powerful antidote to the evil we’re seeing with a vision of life where we finally create a world that is sustainable for us to thrive! Keep your head to the sky lady and check out the resources below for additional support, should you need it. Lady! This week Terri and Dr. Dom welcome powerhouse visionary Ashley McGirt-Adair to Cultivating H.E.R. Space to broaden your awareness to additional tools and resources available to you as you travel along your healing path. Ashley is a dynamic trailblazer who listened to her inner wisdom and allowed that internal voice to guide her as she built a thriving clinical practice and foundation geared towards helping Black women afford the mental health care we so often need. Ashley is the founder of the Therapy Fund Foundation, a nonprofit focused on eliminating barriers to mental health care in Black and historically excluded communities. She is also the author of the forthcoming book, The Cost of Healing in Silence: Navigating Racial Trauma and the Call for Culturally Responsive Care. Ashley keeps it real about the barriers that keep Black women from tending to themselves and how she found the courage to step out on faith and build the phenomenal service she’s offering to the world. Since slavery Black Americans have experienced a litany of traumatic events and have somehow managed to survive to this present day. The issue is that until we, collectively, address those numerous traumas and all of their manifestations we will continue to just do that – survive. Ashley and her team want us to thrive and they are committed to connecting Black women with culturally attuned and responsive providers who are equipped to navigate the complex and layered issues that we face. Lady, there are many forces in this world that are designed to weigh you down and discourage you from reaching your full potential. But, like the sea turtles making their pilgrimage to the water you, too, can make the arduous trek from being broken and in pieces to being in your power. Tune in to today’s episode for actionable steps and resources you can access right now! Don’t forget you can also book a consultation with Dr. Dom so that you can establish your team of providers ready to help you breakthrough to your next level. We love you for real, lady! Lady! Welcome to 2026. We hope this new year is greeting you with restoration, renewal and an excitement for what’s possible in 2026. This week, Terri and Dr. Dom set the tone for what we hope will be an abundant, juicy year. One way we can do that is by being intentional with our time, our attention and our resources. The ladies dive into a timely conversation about considerations to keep in mind while you are setting your intentions, goal setting and mapping out how you’re going to move through the year with ease and flow. The end of the year is usually considered the triage period for burnout. It is often a time where we are working to recuperate and restore after jam packed year full of obligations, commitments, and responsibilities. The demands of the year can leave one feeling depleted. By assessing your capacity early in the year you get to define what taking good care of yourself looks like so that you can put the systems and boundaries in place to make sure that the number one person in your life is well. Lady, we’re excited about what 2026 will bring and we hope you are too! Head to the Cultivating H.E.R. Space shop and pick up a journal or three so that you have a place to put all of your brilliant plans. We have all of the tools you need including latte mugs for your nourishing tea or bone broth, pillows for your comfort, and fly apparel to let the world know exactly who you are in our shop. And, if you are ready for a true fresh start for the New Year book a consultation with Dr. Dom to establish goals and set up systems so that you move with intention or attend Terri’s Get That Pitch Workshop so you can take your business to the next level. Hey lady! We made it! In this final episode of 2025, Dr. Dom and Terri celebrate all that has happened in this year so that they can honor it with sacred closure and use the lessons learned to fuel a productive, prosperous, and peaceful new year. Lady, what are the rituals and practices that you do at the end of year that help you set powerful intentions to have the year you want to have? Are you a woman who doesn’t play about having the house clean, the Black-eyed peas and greens on the stove when the clock strikes 12 on January 1? Are you a woman who likes to review all that happened this year to reflect on what went well and what could use some improvement…and what just doesn’t need to happen no mo’? Are you the woman who believes in pressing forward without addressing the good and the bad of what they year brought? Or, are you the woman who shuts the laptop, snuggles in bed with your favorite snack, book, show and gets all of the rest you need? We’re grown women so you already know that there is no right way to do life but Terri and Dr. Dom have some tips and frameworks that can help you sort through the year you’ve had so that you walk into 2026 with clarity and a sense of direction. Tune into this episode for journal prompts to walk you through your thoughts so that you’re off to the races when the clock strikes. Cheers to a safe and restful rest of the year! Lady, as we head into what is hopefully a quiet, restful holiday season why don’t you swap out your phone for a riveting new book that offers an escape into a world where zombies offer a glimpse into the power and beauty that resides in the Haitian culture. Jenna Chrisphonte, a New York-based author and playwright, invites readers on a journey where zombies and voodoo offer a historical perspective of the strength and resilience of Haiti. Talc: A Hatian Zombie Story is a resonant and timely look into how multifaceted revolutionary spirits are and why these stories are important in the Black diaspora. The current regime is trying to assert an oppressive and authoritarian hand in America to quell any desire for an uprising and they are banking on its citizens to be too tired, too scared, and too poor to fight back. Jenna’s work offers a perspective on how the tapestry of unique cultural experiences can weave together to create a resistance stronger than any dark force can conquer. Jenna discusses how her Haitian upbringing allowed her to gather lessons from her people that can be of use during this time of radical restructuring of our democracy. But, if all of that feels heavy just allow Jenna’s strong prose and attention to her craft whisk you away to world where zombies roam. By the end, you may begin to think that they already walk amongst us. What do we mean by that? Tune in! Hey lady! We know that the daily onslaught of the news of these times can be distressing and difficult to ignore. There are genuine reasons to feel alarm during the current administration but we are blessed to have a deep history of having visionaries, luminaries, and trailblazers offer a blueprint of how to imagine brighter tomorrows.Octavia Butler is one of the most prescient artists of our time but her life was lived somewhat in obscurity, only coming to prominence long after her death. Yet, her writing gave way to world-building where weird, strange, genius Black women could write themselves into the future by being present with their experience. Dr. Susana M. Morris, a waymaker in her own right as a founding member of the Crunk Feminist Collective and author of Positive Obsession: The Life and Times of Octavia Butler, explores how Octavia's life circumstances, disciplined writing practice, and passion birthed works that offer a clear-eyed examination of society and culture while also giving full permission for Black women to indulge our imaginations for a beautiful future that includes us!Join Terri and Dr. Dom as they have a spirited discussion with Susana about Octavia Butler and her powerful artistry. While Octavia made it clear that she was not a prophet; she was so deeply connected to her dreams and words that she manifested a body of work that has inspired generations of future trailblazers and wayshowers.
