Conversation 113:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Aimee Sarchet, RDN “There are more conversations that come up and I see more conferences offering sessions on video. It is usually the basics and discussion afterwards (by dietitians) includes saying they are scared and don’t know where to start. It makes sense, it’s something we’re not trained in and is outside of our wheelhouse but I think video is really important because it is the way social media is headed.” Aimee Sarchet, RDN. Today’s conversation is with Aimee Sarchet, a registered dietitian and entrepreneur with a passion for photography and videography. Aimee found a passion for nutrition at a young age and pursued dietetics the first day of her college career. She knew almost right away after completing her internship, she wanted to be an entrepreneur and start her own business with a personal connection to individuals struggling with GI issues. SInce then, her career has taken a bit of a different direction, but she still finds the joy in being a dietitian by being creative through video.   Please enjoy my conversation with Aimee.   Connect with Aimee on her website, YouTube, Facebook,  Instagram and Twitter.   www.anneelizabethrd.com Copyright © 2019 OPI & AEHC Song: One Of These Days Artist: The Gemini www.thegeminimusic.com Music used by permission. Is Predictive Scheduling the Next Big Thing?

The XpertHR Podcast (US)

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 28, 2019 16:53

This podcast takes an in-depth look at one of the most notable workplace trends of 2017, predictive scheduling. Laws have been sprouting up that require a certain amount of notice to employees before any scheduling changes are made. New York City, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle are among the big cities to enact predictive scheduling laws, and Oregon recently passed the first statewide predictive scheduling measure. Littler shareholder Bruce Sarchet, a member of the firm's Workplace Policy Institute, says predictive scheduling measures have arisen to help workers in retail jobs, fast food and other industries where schedules can vary widely to achieve a better work-life balance. Addressing the flurry of legislative action surrounding predictive scheduling, Sarchet calls it another example of the "municipalization of employment law." Sarchet acknowledges that predictive scheduling measures are attempting to address a real issue, but says, much like the Family and Medical Leave Act, "The devil is in the details." He suggests unintended consequences could arise, including more of a move to automation by employers, and less reliance on employees, as predictive scheduling measures increase. Nonetheless, it's a trend that Sarchet predicts is here to stay and could impose a burden on employers with multi-state, multi-city operations.

Greg Sarchet considers himself fortunate to have had an array of musical experiences and training, from studying with his first teacher, jazz luminary Rufus Reid, to receiving degrees from the Juilliard School (where he was a student of Michael Morgan), to hundreds of television/radio commercial recordings. His strong interest in researching the double bass and ongoing international exchange efforts were recognized by a 1996 Chicago Artists International Program award which sent him to the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria for performances, masterclasses, and archival research. These and other exchange activities have allowed him to build an extensive library of unpublished, out-of-print, and contemporary double bass works, as well as a first-hand understanding of Europe's leading teaching methods. Since 1986, he has been a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. Additionally, he frequently serves as Principal Bass with Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Chamber Orchestra. He maintains a limited private studio for high school and adult pupils. Briefly, his musical foundation was laid by his first double bass teachers, Rufus Reid and Todd Coolman. The musical values and priorities they, among others, instilled in him have led him to a wide variety of professional opportunities ranging from recordings with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, Smashing Pumpkins, and hundreds of television and radio commercials.
