Shem grew up in a musical family: his dad, an arranger in New York City… and his mom a professional singer. This motivated him to become not only an expert bass player, but a multi-instrumentalist, music director, solo tenor opera singer, orchestra conductor, and fiction author. The tremendous impact a horse ranch in Idaho had on him… a troubling decision and how he bounced back from it. SUPER cool guy! Shem has toured and recorded with Toto Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, David Foster, Christopher Cross, Don Felder, Stephen Stills, Tom Jones, Gary Wright, Spooky Tooth and many other artists. Schroeck is a stand-up comedian of 10 years and a politically minded individual. Recently, John actively participated in the political process in Iowa, by representing the Bernie campaign as a precinct captain. Our state of Ohio votes on March 17th. I wanted to get to John on ASAP to discuss his thoughts on those topics and stimulate the minds to go do your part, no matter what affiliations that may be. It's literally the least you can do. I promise there's light-hearted clowning around as well. As always, If you like it... Tell somebody. Holler at John: @ShrekJohn Myself: @Danny_Gamble The Show: @AllCityPodcast HigherLevelArt.com xoxo

A few months ago when Toto announced the musician who would be filling the shoes of David Hungate and Mike Porcaro, we knew that it would raise a lot of curiosity amongst the band’s loyal fans when they heard the name Shem von Schroeck. The truth of the matter is that we’ve known about Shem for quite some time. In fact, we interviewed him nearly a decade ago and discovered just how multi-talented he really is. Shem is not only a bassist, but a drummer, keyboardist, arranger, producer, operatic vocalist, author, recording engineer, video editor, and a diehard Trekkie. Toto fans who have witnessed one of his early performances with the band surely have a solid understanding of why Shem is a perfect fit to fill the coveted position of bass guitar and backing vocalist for the foreseeable future. He’s not only a perfect fit as a musician, but he has the humble, welcoming style of personality that embodies the spirit of his bandmates. Inside MusiCast is pleased to welcome back Shem von Schroeck.
Brian Schroeck is the perfect example of an all-around artist who knows who he is and only brings the positive out of others. His primary background is in photography but he has explored cinematography, music (production & instrumental), sound production, video editing, and he currently teaches digital art to high school students in the city of Chicago. This episode touches all aspects of creativity from technical discussions to moral codes. Surprisingly, we didn’t get distracted into our inside jokes since we’ve been friends for over 20 years…. though video games were included in the conversation… of course. www.brianschroeck.com | @brianwolffe
