Send us a text Hello and welcome to Episode 11 in our series, “Stay in His Presence,” Season 13. My name is Stephanie Wright, your host. We are continuing in our study of the attributes of the Holy Spirit from A to Z. The title of today's podcast is “Spiritual Warfare—On the Battlefield.” This podcast will encompass spiritual warfare and military warfare from a Biblical perspective. Our guest speaker is Dr. Charles Wright, who will enhance our understanding of spiritual warfare with his expertise in military warfare. His experiences, like those of many soldiers, were unique because, on occasion, he waged spiritual and military warfare simultaneously. He will share two of those accounts today: "Wise Counsel" and "Living Among the Dead." Then we will continue this episode with a sequel, Part 2, "I'm Still Alive," and "Punji Pits," and "In the Trenches with the Holy Spirit." Thank you for joining us.STEPHANIE: Welcome, Dr. Wright.CHARLES: Thank you, Stephanie.STEPHANIE: Before we get started on our topic of the Holy Spirit in spiritual warfare and military warfare, let's tell our listeners a little bit about you. Charles served in the United States Army from August 3, 1966, to August 2, 1968. He was an infantry specialist medic. He served in Vietnam in 1967. He has received the Bronze Star with the "V" device for heroism and the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in the war. He has also received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service, he graduated from college, received his master's degree from Ohio Christian University. On June 7 of this year, he received his doctorate in theology from North Carolina College of Theology. He is an ordained bishop and apostle. He is the founder of Charles George Missions, Inc. He is the father of two daughters and five grandchildren, and my husband of 52 years.CHARLES: Thank you, Stephanie.STEPHANIE: Here is a definition of spiritual warfare that I came up with recently.Spiritual warfare is the ongoing battle between God and His holy forces against Satan and his unholy forces both in the heavenly realm and on earth for control over humanity and their destiny—eternal life or everlasting damnation.Would you like to comment on that, or should we proceed directly to the encounters you had, which probably give that definition life?(The podcast continues with Dr. Wright's accounts in Vietnam.)If you want to contact us or comment on this podcast, please visit our website and select www.cgmissions.com/podcasts, where all episodes are available by category in series format. THE SKULL IS BACK! AND WITH LESS MOLD THAN EVER! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD bring back the topic, which is all topics! Can your ill-equipped nerves handle the raw intensity and bone-chilling randomness that is... TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL: SKULL-POCALYPSE!!! For the uninitiated, let us explain: Like in past TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL episodes, we all write several concepts for brief nerdy conversations on strips of paper, and place them within the confines of Larry's vintage plastic skull-shaped Halloween candy bucket. Then, we each take turns blindly choosing one of the strips and reading the topic. What follows is a lively and informative discussion, peppered with opportunities for trivia, merriment, and personal potshots. Some of these topics come from unchosen strips from past episodes that suffered water damage from a leak in Larry's garage. Yes, they are literally moldy oldies. But a little mold can't dampen the unbridled excitement these personally crafted argument starters bring. So rain? Go suck on it! Joining us for this cavalcade of categories are not one, but TWO return guests! First up is an acclaimed comedian, writer, producer, and cartoonist who, for years, has been creating celebrated daily cartoons on cocktail napkins for MATTANAPKIN.COM. He's also been the featured guest on many a TOPIC FREE-FOR-ALL. Please welcome back, charisma incarnate... JOHN MATTA! (THE MARTIN SHORT SHOW, DUCK DODGERS, THE EPIC TALES OF CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS, BEWARE THE BATMAN) And we're sure you remember our other guest from the now legendary HORROR & SCI-FI CASTING episode, and his drop-in appearances at MONSTERAPLOOZA! He's a casting director powerhouse who teaches the must-attend G. CHARLES WRIGHT STUDIO AUDITION WORKSHOP, and if you'd like more information about that, go to GCHARLESWRIGHT.COM. Please welcome once again, the delightful and delicious... G. CHARLES WRIGHT! (THAT 70'S SHOW, THE MIDDLE, ANGER MANAGEMENT, LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ, STAN AGAINST EVIL) WILL YOU SURVIVE THE SKULL-POCALYPSE?! AND SHOULD YOU?!
One of the biggest stars during WWE's (then WWF) most popular era was Charles Wright. He started in the company during the early 1990's as the voodoo-themed character Papa Shango. Then along the way he morphed into a few other characters including Kama (The Supreme Fighting Machine) and The Godfather. In this interview he opens up on all three characters and becoming one of the most popular wrestlers in the world. Then he explains his decision to leave WWE. Learn more about your ad choices. Join us for our conversation with Charles Wright. Mr. Express Yourself himself. Charles Williams Wright (born April 6, 1940) is an American singer, instrumentalist and songwriter. He has been a member of various doo wop groups in the late 1950s and early 1960s as well as a solo artist in his own right. He is also the former leader and writer of hits for the group, Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. Wright was born on April 6, 1940, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, United States. The seventh of twelve children, he was raised on a cotton plantation. Years later, he would refer the sharecropping era as "The next shade after slavery". According to the book Up from Where We've Come, the sharecropper that owned that plantation was a cruel man by the name of Edward Miles. When Wright was 12, the family moved to Los Angeles. Contrary to his father's rule of not allowing his children to listen to secular music, he began listening to popular music and became mesmerized by it. Jesse Belvin was a singer that he heard on the radio was to have a significant influence on the young Wright and who became his mentor. After hearing Belvin on the radio, he looked up his number in the phone book and contacted him. He was told by Belvin to stop copying his sound and find his own. Later, Belvin took Wright under his wing and helped him get started. This association lasted until 1960, but stopped because Belvin died in a car crash at the age of 27. The following year, Wright had his first hit record. Wright is best known for his role as band leader of the group Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, which had the classic 1971 hit "Express Yourself". He has been associated with Johnny Guitar Watson, touring with him and playing on early recordings by him. He also added his vocals to an album by The Watsonian Institute. For a very brief period, Wright managed singer Bill Withers Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The second annual Nightmare Before Christmas special is upon us, and in this special episode I will read real ghost stories from listeners. Christmas is intrinsically linked with the telling of ghost stories, so it seems like the perfect time to tell these stories of timeslips, premonitions, gifts from beyond the grave, and frightening encounters with the dead. There'll also be polterguests dropping by, in the form of authors, podcasters, bloggers and YouTubers, and they'll tell you of their own scary experiences in their own words. Two of these stories are accompanied by audio recordings which are most definitely not for those of a nervous disposition, as they appear to capture the voices of the dead. You have been warned. Huge thank you to Carole, Dorothy, Karen, Craig, Barney, Jim, and 'Michael' for sending in their stories for me to read. And an equally enormous thanks to my polterguests, Emma, Rob, Icy and Nicky, who contributed to this Christmas special.
