Week three is upon us and we got some big boy football games on the docket. After a brief recap of NC State's win at Wake Forest on Thursday night (nice job, Pack) the fellas dive into the dance card for this weekend, including the Felder Five and some detailed analysis on UGA/UT, A&M/ND, and UF/LSU. For whatever reason Felder thinks we need to watch out for Purdue (as a 3-TD underdog) against USC ... and also Wisconsin (as a 3-TD underdog) going on the road to Alabama. What is this man seeing? Is he riding high off his USF upset call over Florida last week? Or does Felder actually believe in these massive Big Ten underdogs to shock the world? Hartzell and Tripp trade picks in the 3-for-all after both going 2-1 last week. It's Friday and we're excited about the weekend. Join us for 90 minutes of football talk to start this party off right.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

You guys already know the drill by now; on Fridays, we bring in Felder to talk ball alongside Hartzell and the Doc. No guest today because we got beaucoup games to break down and talk through. The Felder Five is loaded, plus Hartzell has some 'and-1' games that not enough people are talking about. Picks segment gets spicy because the so-called Lock Doctor either can't get his prescriptions filled or maybe the lock has been broken. Either way, the big fella needs to get back on track after a rough opening week of games. Hartzell is sitting pretty after a 3-0 start ATS but he's doubling down on his alma mater in front of a huge national TV audience tonight. Week two starts TONIGHT folks let's get right with some Friday CSN!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Today on part two the Rarified Heir Podcast, we continue our conversation with Sharyn Felder, daughter of the late, great songwriter Doc Pomus and trust us, this episode is as jam packed and fun-filled as part one from last week. Last week we spoke to Sharyn on the release day of a new box set of her father's music, You Can't Hip a Square: The Doc Pomus Songwriting Demos on Omnivore Recordings, a six-CD set of lost, archival tracks. We continue that conversation today and learn that there just may be more tracks in her father's archive that have never been released co-written by a very famous musician from New Orleans. We also hear more about her father's second career as a card player when the royalty money dried up in the 1970s and the characters who inhabited that word – the mobsters, the octogenarians, the hypochondriacs, the gun-toting security and more. We also learned why the games stopped (take a guess) and how Doc began the second phase of his songwriting career, years after his career started. Sharyn's colorful stories on this episode include two very popular music business folks who absolutely hated each other, Doc Pomus' connection to a massive film in the 1970s that launched a comedy duo and became part of pop culture icons, how a bathhouse singer gained massive fame via Doc's help but never acknowledged it publicly and much more. Part two is every bit as good as part one as you will hear right now on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.
We are counting down the days until Felder joins us back in the studio in a few weeks, but until then, he answers questions from England about weird worms in pecans, annoying rodents in birdseed, and interesting anecdotes concerning marigolds and tomatoes. Week one is already underway with Thursday games to discuss from last night, plus an absolutely loaded slate of games coming up Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and - yes - even Monday. We got the A team of Felder, Tripp, and Hartzell to run through everything you need for these games, plus of course 'That's my Dog' and 'Three for All' picks to help your bankroll. John Hight from the Roar and Clemson Radio Network joins the program to talk Tigers vs Tigers on Saturday night, plus what this Clemson team needs to do better on the field in 2025 (hint: defense). It's an absolutely loaded show but you'd expect nothing less with it being a Felder Friday. Enjoy the games and the long Holiday weekend, errrbody!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Diese Folge ist ursprünglich am 11. April 2025 erschienen. Vielen Dank! Today on part one the Rarified Heir Podcast, we speak to Sharyn Felder, daughter of one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, Doc Pomus. While you may not know the name Doc Pomus, you absolutely know his songs. Everyone from Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Leonard Cohen, Dr. John, B.B. King have all recorded Doc Pomus songs…the list goes on and on. And we'll get to those songs he wrote shortly. On the day we spoke to Sharyn, it was release day of a new box set of her father's music, You Can't Hip a Square: The Doc Pomus Songwriting Demos on Omnivore Recordings, a six-CD set of lost, archival tracks that are a fascinating look into Doc's music and his voice. We also get to hear the back story of how the music survived, the family archive as well as some famous people who also sang on the demos as well as the famous names whose sides didn't survive. Along the way we discuss more famous and infamous characters who were part of Doc's inner circle and those who sought out his help when the ships were down. And let us tell you, it's one hell of a list. Like who? Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm when they were in Ronnie Hawkins band, Bob Dylan at a creative low point , Dr. John when he was struggling to quit heroin, Phil Spector, Bobby Darin, Otis Blackwell and many more. Somehow we concluded part one with a tale about the Runyon-esque existence her father lived to the fullest and the literal death of a clown. It's funny/not funny. Take a listen to this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Don Felder is on Celebrity Jobber with Jeff Zito this week. What type of work would Don be doing if not for being the former lead guitarist of the rock band the Eagles, from 1974 to 2001, co-writing major hits like "Hotel California"? Many celebrities will tell you that if not for that one lucky break or meeting, they would have been scooping up ice cream at Baskin-Robbins like Barack Obama or a Hooters girl like Amy Adams. They may have been just a jobber. Thanks for listening. Please rate, review, and subscribe to the Celebrity Jobber with Jeff Zito wherever you pod.
The SEC decided on Thursday to add a ninth conference game starting in 2026. Seems like a pretty significant piece of news to drop less than 48 hours from the start of the season, and the guys are here to talk about it. A heavy dive into the Southeastern Conference is on deck today, thanks to Chris Phillips from SEC Unlimited dropping by with his preseason takes. Who does Chris like to make it to Atlanta? Is it Texas and everyone else in this league? Who is he most worried about? And who is the most over-rated SEC team in his mind as we approach the start of the season? Felder has a metaphor about why Georgia's offense is like when he takes his daughter bowling that you're going to want to hear. It's the week zero edition of Felder Friday, enjoy it!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

While people around the world mourned President John F. Kennedy after he was assassinated on November 22, 1963, there was a remarkable group of young men who had to perform an unimaginable mission: burying their Commander in Chief. In this episode of The White House 1600 Sessions, White House Historical Association president Stewart McLaurin speaks with James L. Felder, who was a U.S. Army Sergeant when he led the Honor Guard Ceremonial Unit that buried President Kennedy. Felder helped carry and protect the casket of President Kennedy from the moment his body returned from Texas, until the moment he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on November 25, 1963. It was a solemn burial ceremony, and what took place at the very end could have been lost to history: the members of the Honor Guard, in a powerful, spontaneous gesture of respect, removed their hats and laid them around the wreath that adorned the president's grave. That gesture meant so much to the Kennedy family that they commissioned a sculpture of the wreath and hats with the idea that it would eventually adorn President Kennedy's permanent gravesite. Generations later, it's easy to forget that where President Kennedy rests today in Arlington National Cemetery is actually about 20 feet from his initial burial location of November 1963. The site was moved in 1967 to accommodate the millions of visitors. Stewart speaks with Elinor Crane of Oak Spring Garden Foundation as well as Alan Price, Director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, about the creation of the memorial wreath that was made but never installed. You won't want to miss hearing the firsthand account from James Felder, to learn about the powerful moment of the Honor Guard removing their hats, and get a special look at pieces from the sculpture.

Special episode of CSN where Hartzell, Felder, and Surber join forces to talk CFB26 with EA's Principal Game Designer Ben Haumiller. We're a month out from real, actual college football games ... so let's talk about what we've all been doing for the last couple weeks, which is building these dynasties on CFB26! Surbs is an elite gamer, Hartzell is not very good at the game, and Felder doesn't even play ... but the guys have questions and Ben's got answers. What's changed about the game from last year? When can you expect the first update? And how do you stop throwing so many INTs? Hopefully this helps hold you over until the regular dose of CSN's start cranking up in a couple of weeks when Roddy, Wayne, Tripp, and the rest of the gang all start punching the clock!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode of the 18Forty Podcast, we talk to author Elissa Felder and her daughter Sonia Hoffman—both of whom have experienced the loss of a child and serve on a chevra kadisha—about what the Jewish burial society teaches us about confronting death. In this episode we discuss: How does the process of purifying a dead body work—and how is it possible to purify a dead body at all? What Kabbalistic practices are performed by chevra kadisha to bring dignity to the body and soul? How can we “normalize” discussions about grief and death? Tune in to hear a conversation about how care for the deceased is a “love story” between the Jewish People and God.Interview begins at 15:31.Elissa Felder started and actively manages Core's community of practice for women who serve on a traditional chevrah kadisha. The knowledge she acquired through her work motivated her to write From One Life to the Next Life; The Sacred Passage after Death, a memoir about the loss of her baby son. She is the head of her local chevrah kadisha and speaks widely on this topic.Sonia Hoffman is a Limmudei Kodesh teacher at Kohelet Yeshiva in Philadelphia. She is a daughter, mother, wife and member of the Bala Cynwyd community. She is also an active member of the Philadelphia Chevra Kadisha, having started during COVID to help with this mitzvah. After the loss of their daughter in 2016, she began speaking about her experience with loss and sharing resources with the community on ways in which we can move forward after tragedy. In addition, Sonia began hosting an annual event in her daughter's memory to bring awareness to the community around the topic of infant loss and relationship with God.References:Teshuvot HaRadbaz Volume 3, 985Torat HaAdam, Introduction “Passing Through” by David BashevkinBerakhot 10a“Reconciling Opposites: Uncommon Connections in the Halakha of Mourning” by Emanuel FeldmanFrom One Life to the Next Life; The Sacred Passage after Death by Elissa FelderThe Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief by Francis WellerThe Choice: Embrace the Possible by Dr. Edith Eva EgerConsolation: The Spiritual Journey Beyond Grief by Maurice LammGesher Hachaim - The Bridge of Life by Rabbi Yechiel Michel TucazinskyRabbi Yitzchak Hutner's Theology of Meaning by Alon ShalevFor more 18Forty:NEWSLETTER: 18forty.org/joinCALL: (212) 582-1840EMAIL: info@18forty.orgWEBSITE: 18forty.orgIG: @18fortyX: @18_fortyWhatsApp: join hereBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/18forty-podcast--4344730/support.

In this podcast interview, Jesse Felder provides a comprehensive analysis of current market conditions, highlighting several critical economic indicators suggesting significant potential risks ahead. He argues that the U.S. stock market is currently more overvalued than at any point since 1950, with valuation metrics indicating extremely limited upside potential and substantial downside risk. Felder emphasizes the market's narrow breadth, noting an unprecedented number of trading days where the S&P 500 rose with fewer than 200 stocks driving gains. He also points to insider selling trends, which have been persistently bearish, signaling potential economic and earnings disappointments in the coming 12-24 months. A key focus of his analysis is the declining U.S. dollar, which he sees as a critical indicator of broader economic shifts. Felder suggests the dollar's weakness could catalyze a significant market correction, particularly given record foreign investment in U.S. markets and potential unwind of carry trades. Demographically and economically, Felder anticipates a stagflationary environment. He highlights how de-globalization and changing workforce demographics are creating inflationary pressures, while economic growth appears to be weakening. He sees particular opportunity in the energy sector, arguing that natural gas and oil are undervalued, with supply constraints and increasing electricity demand creating potential for a major bull market. On monetary policy, Felder is skeptical of the Federal Reserve's independence, suggesting potential political pressure could lead to more dovish policies aimed at managing government debt through financial repression. He draws parallels to historical periods like the 1971 Nixon shock, where currency devaluation and trade negotiations were used to address economic challenges. Ultimately, Felder recommends investors prepare for a potential market rotation, favoring natural resources and value stocks while being cautious of high-valuation momentum stocks. He sees gold and commodities as potential hedges against the anticipated economic environment of slower growth and persistent inflation.
