On the latest episode of YKY we discuss the film They Call Me Trinity. An Italian western that spoofs Eastwood's The Man with No Name Trilogy. It stars Terence Hill and Bud Spencer who became international superstars after this film was released. It's a very "charming" and a bit "goofy" western. People liked it so much they even made two sequels and a kind of sequel They Call Me Nobody co-starring Henry Fonda. Both movies are worth watching. We even discussed Nobody on Cue it Up so I'll leave that link below.
After a week off (details included in the show!) we return for as robust ep where we discuss our experiences with the Oscars, our predictions for this year and review: Superman Returns, Reacher, The Kings Man, The Rescue, Star Trek Discovery Season 4, Blood Rage, They Call Me Trinity, Book of Boba Fett AND MORE Subscribe (and review us) at Apple Podcasts Check out Mike's other show The Rewatch Project Feedback appreciated at chinstrokervspunter@gmail.com and hang with us on facebook
The parallels between Shaw Brothers films and Spaghetti Westerns continues to amaze us! Through no conscious intent, both films we cover on today's episode delve into religion as a major theme throughout. In the Shaw Brothers film, Shaolin Hellgate (aka Heaven and Hell - 1980) guest starring The Venoms, we find a psychedelic mashup of a bunch of things, but to simplify it, it's like West Side Story meets Dante's Inferno! It's a crazy trip through Heaven, Earth, and Hell and Patsy and I had fun scratching our heads trying to figure it out! Lee Yi Min stars as one of Heaven's guards exiled to Earth for helping a couple elope, and ends up in Hell where he must gather a team of honest wrongdoers (as opposed to evildoers) so they can fight their way out of Hell. On the Spaghetti Western side, since we've covered Terence Hill and Bud Spencer's first trilogy, we not dive into their next two films, starting with They Call me Trinity (1970). Hill and Spencer are excellent in what is undoubtedly one of the best Spaghetti Westerns we've covered so far! Terence Hill stars as a lazy, unorthodox gunfighter and Bud Spencer plays his portly, horse-thieving brother. Together, they must defend a Mormon settlement from a land-grabbing Major, a Mexican bandit, and their henchmen! A fun, if offbeat, double feature! As of this posting, They Call Me Trinity is on Amazon Prime. Even if someone has never watched an Italian Western, there's at least a good chance they've heard the soundtrack or score from one. While Lee has featured some tracks from Italian Westerns before on the show, he's never done a dedicated look at the genre. This will be part one of three shows attempting to cover the scope of music that came from the Italian Westerns. Episode one is focused on selections that have vocalists on the tracks singing a song of some sort (note: the typical chorus of unintelligible chanting found on many Italian Western scores does not count in this case). As mentioned before, in some cases, you'll encounter a track that has been featured on a previous episode, but the majority of these shows will be featuring new material. Also, although he states on the episode that he was trying to keep this episode within the usual confines of an hour runtime, he quickly discovered the folly of that, as there is too much great music to play. Expect all of the episodes in this series to be as long as they have to be. --A Gringo Like Me from "Gunfight at Red Sands" (1963) --Ennio Morricone w/Peter Tevis --The Return of Ringo from "The Return of Ringo" (1965) --Ennio Morricone w/Maurizio Graf --A Lone and Angry Man from "A Coffin for the Sheriff" (1965) --Francesco De Masi w/Peter Tevis --Ya Me Voy from "A Bullet for the General" (1966) --Luis Bacalov w/Ramon Mereles --Texas, Adios from "Texas, Adios" (1966) --Anton Garcia Abril w/Don Powell --Django from "Django" (1966) --Luis Bacalov w/Rocky Roberts --For a Gunshot from "Little Rita of the West" (1967) --Roberto Gigli w/Rita Pavone--Who Is The Man? from "A Taste of Death" (1968) --Francesco De Masi; Alessandro Alessandroni & Giulia De Mutiis w/Raoul Lovecchio --Just A Coward from "And Now... Mormon settlers are being forced off their land by an evil land baron and Mexican raiders. Only Trinity, the right hand of the devil, can help them...if you can wake him up. They Call Him Trinity (1970) stars Terence Hill as the unorthodox Trinity and Bud Spencer as his brother, the left hand of the devil, Bambino. Also starring Farley Granger, Dan Sturkie, and Remo Capitani in a classic Italian, comedy, spaghetti, western you won't soon forget. Beat'Em Up старой школы, с героями школы старше самой старой школы битемапов. Как-то так. Ну, а вообще, неожиданно, что их о Баде Спенсере и Теренсе Хилле решили вдруг вспомнить в 2018-м году, озадачив всех нас игрой по мотивам их экранных персон и киноприключений. Но, посмотрим в каком свете разработчики представили героев детства. Использован фрагмент из фильма "Меня Зовут Троица" (They Call Me Trinity) 1970 г.
