October 2025 marks 250 years of the U.S. Navy and we begin our monthlong celebration with retired Rear Admiral Jeremy "Bear" Taylor, who considers himself the luckiest man alive.Commissioned in 1957, Bear would accumulate more than 6,000 flight hours in fighters and trainers and over 1,000 carrier landings during his 35+ years of service. He was assigned to 13 different aircraft carriers and flew 50 additional types and models of aircraft, including 10 helicopters.During the Vietnam War, Bear flew the A-4 Skyhawk, accruing 200+ Rolling Thunder missions in North Vietnam. He fired numerous AGM-12 Bullpup air-to-ground missiles and was later involved in developing the JDAM. Bear commanded an A-7 Corsair II squadron, the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, and the Strike Fighter Wing of the Pacific Fleet.Visit https://www.rollingthunderremembered.com/ where Bear and other Vietnam veteran stories are chronicled.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-fighter-pilot-podcast/donations

Episode 86 is here pals! It's a "Match of the Week" 'Edition of the show w/ 'Best Mate David', chattin' three totally splendid bouts & just what it was that made them so wonderful. Those being Genichiro Tenryu vs KENTA (from 2005 Pro Wrestling NOAH), Mike Awesome vs Masato Tanaka (from ECW Heatwave '98) and the wonderfully sadomasochistic bloodbath that was KENOH vs Minoru Suzuki (from 2024 Pro Wrestling NOAH). We actually got to enjoy those first two together at a recent 'Wrestling Club' with Chris Things at The Scratch, so I felt there couldn't be anyone more perfect to chop it up with about these classics than my dearest long-time pal from across the pond. Send us a textWhat makes a sheriff worthy of your vote? Dr. Robert Jackson and Hannah Miller from the Hannah Miller Show Podcast takes you inside the electrifying Republican Sheriff's Forum in Spartanburg County, where eight qualified candidates squared off amidst literal thunder and lightning. This wasn't just a political event—it was a revealing look at the men who might become the constitutional firewall between citizens and government overreach. We break down how each candidate handled the forum's four critical questions: department culture, community concerns, constitutional rights, and creative solutions to difficult problems. The most heated moments came during discussions of the controversial "Rolling Thunder" initiative and civil asset forfeiture, revealing clear philosophical differences among candidates. Rick Stevens boldly declared "Rolling Thunder violates people's rights," while Bill Ryan demonstrated impressive constitutional knowledge, explaining how various amendments interconnect to protect citizens from government overreach.Beyond policy positions, we analyze what makes each candidate unique. Bill Ryan emerged as the polished statesman with commanding presence, Rick Stevens projected fearlessness drawn from international crime-fighting experience, and Joseph Palato established himself as the innovative problem-solver. Meanwhile, veterans like Rusty Clevenger and Randy Holyfield carry decades of institutional knowledge and name recognition that newer candidates must overcome. Robert Cheeks showed promise as a rising political star with genuine passion for Spartanburg.Whether you're concerned about constitutional rights, department morale, or community safety, this sheriff's race deserves your attention. Check candidate websites, attend upcoming forums, and ask tough questions before making this crucial decision. Your sheriff is the last line of defense for your constitutional freedoms—choose wisely.http://Robertcheeksforsheriff.comhttp://Aclarkforsheriff.comhttp://Clevengerforsheriff.comhttp://Pilato4Sheriff.comhttp://BillRhyneforsheriff.comhttp://Hollifieldforsheriff.comhttp://NickDuncanforsheriff.comhttp://Crispforsheriff.comhttp://Spartanburgcountysheriffelection2025.comSupport the showhttps://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

This week, we're talking machines! One of the most critical steps in building our duck calls begins in the machine shop. Every call we make passes through one of our four HAAS machine—starting as a solid rod of acrylic and ending as a precision-cut duck call blank. Spence is joined by Daniel, Jay, and Russ—our three machinists who help keep the Rolling Thunder world turning. The guys dive into the machines they run, how they use them to craft our calls, and share their backgrounds and experiences working with large CNC equipment.

In Communion -- Part Two, Whitley Strieber tries to turn the tables on the “visitors” by inviting -- almost daring -- them to make a return visit. Meanwhile, Richard and Matt Reeves (“The Batman”) work around the clock to perfect “Rolling Thunder” -- then retitled “End of the Line” and finally “Dark Territory” -- while the odds of a big sale fade more and more every day. We all know that “Chance favors the prepared mind” and “Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups” -- but will years of setbacks and rewrites lead to a happy ending? Matt's high school friend J.J. Abrams bestows some crucial advice (“Don't be idiots”). But how will Whitley -- and Richard and Matt -- finally come to terms with a universe that plays by its own rules, and laughs at the notion of control? Welcome back to For The Love of Guns! In this relaxed and nostalgic episode, host Jason Schaller sits down in-studio with returning guest Lonnie Robinson, a longtime friend, Marine Corps veteran, and firearms enthusiast. Together, they dive into the joys and challenges of getting back into competition shooting as they navigate their "older years," reflecting on past experiences, evolving passions, and the camaraderie that keeps them hooked on the sport. Key Segments Intro: Welcome Back Lonnie [00:00:04 - 00:01:42] Jason kicks off the show with a warm welcome to Lonnie, a rare in-studio guest who's back for more “abuse.” The duo shares how they met—Lonnie as a customer when Jason ran an FFL—and their enduring friendship despite Jason's playful jabs. Topic: Returning to Competition Shooting [00:01:43 - 00:11:53] Jason and Lonnie discuss their return to competition shooting, focusing on trap, sporting clays, and pistol matches. Lonnie reflects on his recent trap and five-stand sessions at a new club, reigniting his love for shotgunning—a passion rooted in his Marine Corps days and childhood hunting in Texas. Jason shares his own journey, from trap at age 10 with an 870 Wingmaster to pistol competitions in his 20s and sporting clays in his 30s. They explore the physical challenges of aging—shoulder surgeries, knee issues, and arthritis—and how it shifts their focus from winning to enjoying the sport and camaraderie. Highlight: Lonnie's shift to competing against himself rather than others: “I'm my main adversary now.” [00:06:13] Sponsor Break: EGIS Gun Care [00:11:53 - 00:12:35] Jason gives a shoutout to AEGIS Gun Care at https://trb.fyi/boomlube, praising their oils and teasing an upcoming content idea. Use code BoomLub at checkout for 10% off and to support the show! Long-Range Shooting: Military vs. Now [00:12:35 - 00:16:58] Lonnie contrasts his Marine Corps long-range shooting with today's recreational approach, emphasizing fun over necessity. A discussion on ethical hunting: Lonnie opts against building a long-range hunting rifle (7mm PRC) for a client due to insufficient skill and practice for shots beyond 400 yards. Highlight: “Unless you know your rifle, load, and wind conditions, you shouldn't take long-range shots.” [00:14:46] Gunsmithing: Experience Over Certificates [00:17:01 - 00:23:26] The pair dive into building custom rifles, with Lonnie sharing his work at Little Mountain Gun Works and Jason recounting his own builds (e.g., rebarreling Remington 700s). They critique gunsmithing schools like SDI and MGS, agreeing real-world experience trumps formal diplomas. Lonnie's “diploma from life and the Marine Corps” speaks for itself. Highlight: Lonnie on woodworking: “I don't need a class—I make really nice stocks.” [00:20:52] Competition Rifles and Shotguns [00:23:26 - 00:45:24] From chassis systems to classic over-and-unders, they explore how competition gear has evolved and their personal preferences (Lonnie's Beretta love shines through). Lonnie's shift to enjoying the process over scores: “My five-stand was atrocious compared to my old scores, but I had a blast.” [00:45:10] Speed Round [00:51:22 - 00:57:03] Jason surprises Lonnie with a quick-fire Q&A: Ear plugs or muffs? Plugs for shotguns. [00:52:16] 357 or 454 Casull? 357 for versatility. [00:53:55] Improved or modified choke? Modified for all-around use. [00:55:05] Single shot or lever action? Single shot (Ruger No. 1 fan). [00:56:23] Thinking Question: From the world's largest armory, Lonnie picks a Ma Deuce (.50 BMG), envisioning it in a Jeep for Rolling Thunder. [00:57:27] Wrap-Up: Little Mountain Gun Works [01:01:03 - 01:04:26] Lonnie introduces his retirement gig at Little Mountain Gun Works, crafting custom PRS and NRL rifles with his 07 FFL. Jason teases future collaborations—stay tuned for more! The episode ends with their signature banter,
The Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) mission, better known as the Wild Weasel mission, has been a critical component of air warfare since Vietnam.
